MINNEAPOLIS -- The Dolphins wanted to knock the Vikings back on their heels today. And they have done it so far.
They've stopped Brett Favre and his offense twice in the first quarter. On offense, they got a 46-yard completion from Chad Henne to Brandon Marshall on their first play. Later Henne completed a five-yard TD pass to Brian Hartline.
The Dolphins are clearly picking on Minny CB Lito Shepard.
Miami leads, 7-0.

Don't get too excited....Henning will call three runs and that's the half.

10 bucks say we take a knee
Posted by: Los Lobos | September 19, 2010 at 02:07 PM
D is holding up nicely. Now 45 sec is enough time to get within field goal range, don't be conservative Miami!
Posted by: /Facepalm | September 19, 2010 at 02:07 PM
Run ANYTHING but that really "ingenious" play the Cowboys ran last week.
Posted by: zaphod | September 19, 2010 at 02:07 PM
FIRST HALF SHUT OUT. NICE JOB D AND NICE JOB ON THE ONLY TD DRIVE OF THE GAME OFFENSE!!!
Posted by: DyingBreed | September 19, 2010 at 02:07 PM
we need more pass plays on offense 3 completions isnt gonna do it
Posted by: jamesc | September 19, 2010 at 02:07 PM
Ronnie has never been known to have another gear. He could have juked but would've been caught from behind.
Posted by: nyfinfan | September 19, 2010 at 02:07 PM
I usually don't like conservative play calling...but here we need to run the ball three straight times. We get the ball after the half.
Posted by: DMAN | September 19, 2010 at 02:07 PM
Wow! The defense keeps finding ways to survive and keep the Vikes from scoring.
Vontae Davis is pretty good, by the way. What a steal in the 2009 draft!
Posted by: The New Kid | September 19, 2010 at 02:07 PM
Mike Nolan for head coach!!!!
Posted by: OhFinFan13 | September 19, 2010 at 02:07 PM
Do you go after them? Or do you simply take a knee and go into the locker room, up 7-0.
I say, take a knee.
Posted by: Armando Salguero | September 19, 2010 at 02:07 PM
Great physical D. We HAVE to maintain this possession awhile.
Whoa, SULU!! A county commissioner in LA.
Posted by: IMAWriter | September 19, 2010 at 02:07 PM
wonder if they'll b agggressive w/ 45 sec remining?
Posted by: robbyhernz | September 19, 2010 at 02:08 PM
STOCK DOWN: SEAN SMITH. Not that his stock could get much lower. Why isn't the former Viking, Sapp playing the slot?
Posted by: Marc | September 19, 2010 at 02:08 PM
seems like yesterday since a wr has made a play since the game began
Posted by: Dolphins4Life73 | September 19, 2010 at 02:08 PM
w need to get atleast 3 to end the half and we get the ball 2nd half.
Posted by: finatic | September 19, 2010 at 02:08 PM
here comes 3 runs up the middle to end the half - like to see a shot down field to Marshall - little play-action maybe
Posted by: IHateGinn | September 19, 2010 at 02:08 PM
3 time outs and 45 seconds. I would make a play for a field goal.
Posted by: Los Lobos | September 19, 2010 at 02:08 PM
fIRST HALF SHUTOUT NAYSAYERS!!!
Posted by: DyingBreed | September 19, 2010 at 02:08 PM

Posted by: oldenglish | September 19, 2010 at 02:08 PM
sorry but how can you complain about ronnie not beating a corner/safety in the open field?
Ronnie is a power back and doesnt have the break away speed thats a stupid arguement armando
Posted by: mcduffie81 | September 19, 2010 at 02:08 PM

2nd best play of the quarter ... letting the clock run down.
Posted by: zaphod | September 19, 2010 at 02:09 PM
are these commentators hating the fins or rather loving farve fookers
Posted by: d-dense | September 19, 2010 at 02:09 PM
DO YOU GUYS KNOW HOW DIFFICULT IT IS TO PITCH A SHUTOUT AGAINST A HOF QB ON THE ROAD? STFU NAYSAYERS!!!
Posted by: DyingBreed | September 19, 2010 at 02:10 PM
So far so good for the MIAMI POUND MACHINE.
Posted by: R & R EXPRESS | September 19, 2010 at 02:10 PM
lots of points left on the field guys
Posted by: Los Lobos | September 19, 2010 at 02:10 PM
i predict farve does not finish today. unless something happens on the line favre is going down.
Posted by: oldenglish | September 19, 2010 at 02:11 PM
@DyingBreed Um...7 points lead on the road vs. a great Vikings team is NOT ENOUGH. Why did we play the last 45 so conservatively? Oh yeah, I know...no true faith in Henne. Take the training wheels off!
Posted by: OhFinFan13 | September 19, 2010 at 02:11 PM
Right robbyhernz!
Proud!
Posted by: Po White Trash | September 19, 2010 at 02:11 PM
With 45 secs and 3 timeouts, not attempting to get at least a field goal to me sends a clear message to your offense on what you think about them and their ability to score and not make mistakes on the road.
Posted by: /Facepalm | September 19, 2010 at 02:11 PM
I LUV THIS DAMN DEFENSE GUYS!!!
Posted by: DyingBreed | September 19, 2010 at 02:11 PM
You are correct oldenglish. Without Farve, they're nothing. I hope to see a golf cart in Farves near future
Posted by: cocoajoe | September 19, 2010 at 02:11 PM
So will carpenter take over for dobbins? and cover Shiancoe?
Posted by: nyfinfan | September 19, 2010 at 02:11 PM
I just feel like we have to play to break these fools off. Play to demoralize the opponent. Make them not want to come out second half.
Posted by: Los Lobos | September 19, 2010 at 02:12 PM
i agree with lobos
Posted by: charlieb | September 19, 2010 at 02:12 PM
obviosly some you guys did not watch the cowboys
Posted by: standley23 | September 19, 2010 at 02:12 PM
OHFINFAN,
GUESS YOU'LD PREFER TO BE BEHIND BY 7PTS? NO OFFENSE BUT THATS TROLL THINKING THERE BUDDY!

Posted by: d-dense | September 19, 2010 at 02:13 PM
THE WAY THE D IS PLAYING 7PTS IS HUGE RIGHT NOW!!!
Posted by: DyingBreed | September 19, 2010 at 02:14 PM
I'm with ya on that Joe.
Posted by: Po White Trash | September 19, 2010 at 02:14 PM
Brown did the right thing on the long run - stretch it to the sideline and get everything you can out of it. If he tries to cut back in space, he's just going to get tackled sooner - like almost every single other running back in the league would have in a situation where the DB has an angle.
Sorry, Armando. Knocking Ronnie Brown for failing to take that play the distance is simply unfair. Maybe a true sprinter like Johnson or Spiller takes that the distance. but not many backs would have "cut back" to beat the defender and then scored.
Posted by: The New Kid | September 19, 2010 at 02:14 PM
Need to pass more in 2nd half, 5 passes won't cut it, awesome half though
Posted by: Phinalsay | September 19, 2010 at 02:14 PM
The cowboys has nothing to do with the Dolphins. The Cowboy had like 4 secs left in the half and 30 yards to go to get within field goal range. They should have kneel down.

THE THIRD QUARTER POST IS UP. PLEASE GO THERE AS THAT IS WHERE THE LIVE BLOG CONTINUES.
Posted by: Armando Salguero | September 19, 2010 at 02:14 PM
Yes, Ronnie is a Power back...but so is Ricky...most 2 back teams have a Sproles type guys for that change of pace.
The hole was huge, not a power thing. By not having the guy with some speed we lost a TD. Ronnie never even put a move on the defender.
Our defense has been just so great when it mattered most. Great game plan to go hard at Farve, which apparently will be our year long Mantra...GET PRESSURE ON THE QB.
