Jets beat Dolphins 31-23 to take first in AFC East

The Dolphins came into this game the AFC East's only unbeaten team.

They come away from this 31-23 loss in a three-way tie with New England and New York. All three teams have a 2-1 record.

The defense simply wasn't up to the task tonight, folks.

The run defense was leaky for the second week in a row, this night yielding 146 yards on the ground. Suprisingly, the defense that was so good against the pass the past two weeks, collapsed tonight. Mark Sanchez completed 15 of 28 passes for 256 yards and three touchdowns without an interception.

Chad Henne and the offense -- playing with one hand behind its back as the running game was a no-show -- stayed close for a time. Henne had his best game of the season, throwing for 364 yards while completing 26 of 44 passes with three TDs and no interceptions.

Jason Allen had a tough night, giving up a 67-yard TD completion to Braylon Edwards and also getting called for pass interference in the end zone.

pissed

... the only post game interview I want to see is some hot "Ines" in her "ill fitting" jeans ... who gives a crap about competent game analysis at this point.

I think they lost becuz they had a cooler name than us. Theirs added de Nueva York. we only added on an extra de... very desappointing mang

Mando, Allen clearly slipped on the TD play in the newly set grass...com'n, he makes that tackle if he doesn't slip...

i want channing back next to dansby or at least put micah in till he's healthy!! dobbins cant tackle for shyt! and carpenter is the sean smith of lber! no heart whatsoever

he friggin slipped. It happens. What killed us was unspecial teams!

You have to put a majority of the blame on Jason Allen

Was it the running game or the interruption of the Wildcat that was keeping Henne down? Now that the team has a QB and a WR who can make plays more than 5 yards down the field the Wildcat needs to go away except in goal line situations.

My wife is going to be SO PISSED because "The Amazing Race" was late due to football. If I'm going to be happy ... and get "any" the rest of the year ... the NFL better get this right!!!!! LOL!!!!!

I am going on record.
NO MORE DAN HENNING.

In the end we needed to put more pressure on sanchez

Jason Allen from Hero to goat

I am going on record.
WE HAVE TOO MUCH TALENT TO LET THIS HAPPEN.
NO MORE DAN HENNING AND HIS IDEA OF THE WILDCAT.

yes special teams killed us big time tonite!! kicking balls out of bounds, big returns and no blocking on our returns and of course a blocked punt!! but dobbins and carpenter has this defense so weak in the middle it ridiculous!! dansby is playing great and having to cover for them is gonna over-extend during the season!!!

i'm seriously stuck on one 3rd conversion in the 4th at round 7 min was 3 & 2 yrdage and they passd deep ... why not run it w Ronnie for a yrd or wtver and convert on 4th with Polite...Wildcat. more meerkat... Anything else woulda been better besides this crazy playcalling

Mando, Henne had 2 TDs and an INT at the end

I blame the Wildcat as those plays were the drive stoppers.
NO MORE DAN HENNING.

Too many mistakes, not enough defense, and weak specials teams killed us tonight, only bright spot out of this the Henne to Marshall chemistry is here and all the WR's played great....if our defense plays like this next week we are gonna get KILLED

I disagree Zach. But oh well. He'll be fine. Fickle fans bail on him all the time and wait for him to make a mistake. I think ...and hope this will be good for the team. Henne was hitting Brandon, Hartline, and Bess. I think this game was good for all of them. And losing will make them angry and maybe they will take it out on the pats

what was rex showering jt with water for!! he was a none factor

sh!ts Bananas

dammit beavis

R & R EXPRESS ... testify, brother! Down with Henning and his "drive killing" Wildcat!

coach is sick and you can hear it in his voice

the Wildcat blew it tonight, not running the ball from 2 yards out killed it, and jason allen being jason allen killed it

Someone please make a website www.killthewildcat.com #Dolphins

Using it and taking the ball out of Henne's hands has lost us this game.

3 THINGS IM WISHING FOR!!

1:CHANNING GETS BACK SOON!!
2:henning dont handcuff the offense
3: they start letting ronnie carry more of the load

ref was in the back of endzone with his hand on the flag before play even happen!!???

The wildcat offense served it's purpose two years ago when the fins started off slow and needed a boost. Now. Now it's obsolete.

Armando ... seriously, man, we need you to send the message to the coaches ... "KILL THE 'EFFIN WILDCAT" ... sure, it was great for, like, two weeks, but IT'S KILLING OUR FREAKING TEAM!!!!!!! I SO HATE seeing the video of the offensive coach (and by "offensive ... if MEAN OFFENSIVE ... ) sitting in his booth so "lackluster" and "emotionless" during these games.

Dan Henning: FREAKING RETIRE!!!!! You look old, you COACH OLD ... I just don't get the impression you like your job ... leave it!!!!!!!!

amen
dolphinsforlife

drsamii,
I'd rather beat the Jets and lose to new England and be hungry for a win vs Packers... now we are looking at the Jets as #1 in the division. I'm not liking some of the young mistakes being made. Theirs a list of defenders who need to work on things that were obviously exploited tonite.

the wildcat is nothing more than an excuse fir Henning to run the ball more, that us unless, you have your RB throw at the time ur QB is hot!!!

Gatorz, your making a statement and not backing it up with anything at all. no analysis or facts. Your just making a statement, and expecting it to be respected without offering support.

The support I have? Over 300 yards, 2 TDs, and was shot in the foot by his offensive coordinator and bad special teams. When they LET HIM PLAY HE WAS SUCCESSFUL. HOW DOES THAT MAKE HIM LIMITED OR A FAILURE?? THE JETS LET SANCHEZ PLAY AND THROW THE BALL, AND CALL SENSIBLE PLAYS. SO HE HAS A CHANCE TO BE SUCCESSFUL. IT'S UNFAIR TO JUDGE CHAD HENNE UNTIL HE IS ALLOWED TO BE A REAL QB FOR AN EXTENDED PERIOD OF TIME AND NOT GET YANKED FOR GARBAGE PLAYCALLS, OR HAVE TO RUN RETARDED REVERSE CALLS. HE DELIVERED WHEN HE WAS GIVEN THE CHANCE.

You guys who have buried him after so little are really just retards, trolls or morons. The worst kind of arm-chair QBs: the type who have no idea what they are talking about. You simply cannot judge the kid until he is allowed to use and develop his skill set. Yea, he's weak in some areas but..um..until tonight he was only allowed to throw 15 times a game. How is he supposed to develop throwing 15 times a game?? Please explain.

we werent going undefeated.. we will come back stronger from this loss.

Dolphins4Life73 ... if we had actually taken care of business and showed up as an offense ... it would matter if the ref was jacking off in the end zone ... we simply sucked tonight.

One of the best games i ever been too but our Defense and STs killed us tonight. I officially HATE the WildCat and question how we cant run Polite on the two yard line. NO PRESSURE on Sanchez, NONE and we got killed across the middle. Worried Pats TEs will hurt us. Darn, hate losing to the Jests, still think come out at 5-3 1st half we in good shape.

We could have won this as a good ole time shoot out.
But No!
Dan Henning has to pull his stupid Wildcat crap.
NO MORE DAN HENNING!

i agree robby but only if the wildcatis put down!!

They showed it later, Allen did not slip on the new grass...he just got spun around by Edwards.

man dont even look at allen as the culprit why we lost! he slipped on td and had mental lapse on the catch on the sideline! until we get a mlb that is not a liability in run or pass coverage to go alongside dansby we will continue to get beat in the middle!!! im no guru but all the plays dobbins and carpenter missed, channing makes thoses!! i will give you he dont stop the screan like dansby but the rest he got that!!! im out!!!!!!

hope this is a lesson to how chad can open it up but not to the wildcat can do

robbyhernz ... I seriously hope you're right. But there isn't much empirical evidence for that right now.

We aren't the type of team that is going to win many games when our qb is forced to throw it over 40 times. The fact that we couldn't run it tonight is what I believe is one of the reasons we lost. This team is not built to play behind the chains, I'd bet that Sparano will talk about this failure. Sure he will praise Henne(as he should, Henne had a good game) They were not going to let the running game take over, and I'm sure they thought if they could force Henne into passing over 40 times, they would have a good shot at winning this game. People are going to point their fingers at Dobbins, at Jason Allen, the special teams, and the playcalling. All of the above need improving. Remember we are still 2-1, and have a great opportunity next week to take it to the Pats. To do this we have to get back to a more balanced attack and I believe we will be fine. Oh, and please, please, please. Should we start a grass root orginization to put an end to the Wildcat? This is killing us.

i thought we ran well when ronnie carried the ball!! we cant get him in a groove when you swap every other series! and yes the wildcat is being used at the wrong time!!!

D4life,

I don't think Crowder is the answer, but man he couldn't of played any worse than Dobbins or Carpenter.

Allen wasn't on the sod. He slipped and fell, period.

Bell wasn't on the sod either, he slipped and fell, in the end zone while trying to cover keller

The one bright spot, Henne and Marshall played just like we all thought they would.

To bad it took us to be down 2 scores for that senile piece of work to unleash these guys. I knew this is how it would have to happen though. Henning just to much of a chicken sheet. Wildcat? How about senile pussycat!

If you guys don't here from me for awhile, it'll be because I got caught breaking into the local liquor store.

I need a drink.

Zaphod, we played sloppy.. Henne is growing b4 our eyes.. Our failures r correctible.. chilax everyone..

The cat is dead. No more trickery. You don't need it with this quarterback and these receivers. Someone please put up a website to kill the cat.

odin i will never mention channing again until he plays!! i promise! i bet dobbins and carpenter combined for 3 tackles

I seriously thought we looked like the better team tonite. Except for a few bad plays by J allen and some very questionable play calling at crucial moments by D. Henning, we looked very good.

julico ... the wildcat has to end ... it was great for the first few weeks ... but its time has come and gone ... sort of like what our offensive coaches should do ... GO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! And DON'T come back!!!!!!!!!!

I here ya beerphin but we lost. So we have to move on. We get another crack at them. We need to win the next one. We did not sack sanchez once. Those dbs were working their butts off. You can't chase people all day. I hate the jets just like any true fan but I have to take positives out of this game and Henne hitting all receivers, and going deep mulltiple times, and Hartine getting it together and Marshall going crazy. It has to help the Os confidence. And this was going against a good D.

Good god you guys are delusional. Your d was terrible last year and to think that has been fixed after beating the likes of the Bills and Vikings is just ridiculous. We don't have a great O, but it shredded you all night. Just wait for Brady next week. It is going to be sick. Brady will throw for 4+ TDs and 400+. Funny listening to you all hammer on Henne when he is the only reason along with Marshall that this game was anywhere close.

Anyway after next Monday the Pats and JETS JETS JETS JETS will be 3-1 and the smelly fish will be 2-2. Season over losers.

I've lost another lunch to a Jets fan.

special teams blunders= kick out of bounds, big returns, blocked punt, and no blocking by our own special teams!!!

Darryl Dunphy ... Years ago, if we needed 8 points and we were on the 10 yard line ... and Dan Marino was our QB ... would we have got 8 points? More often than not ... YES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Bottom line: our offense REALLY sucks right now. We may get better this year, but right now .... we REALLY suck!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

bottom line...the wild cat is fine--but Henning gets too cute too often and it kills us. Time and time again when the Jets were sucking wind and out of gas--we stopped running the ball when we had 2nd and 2 or 3rd and 1 etc...three more key running plays and we would have overcome a bad defensive night where we failed to make just one play in the secondary...

We need another linebacker next to Dansby that can actually play. Also dont need a defensive tackle playing end. Cam wake is playing well. No more wildcat!!! or at least the drive killing plays that we are scheming up every week. Recieving core was great...beast and bess and b hart. I hate the jets....i think we beat ourseleves. Jason allen fell apart late. Another stud corner with vontae would be great. did they even throw vontaes way tonight? gotta beat the pats now....goodnight.

Fins Defense is just average, and average defensive teams go nowhere in the NFL. Maybe next year.

I think CH7 did well tonight.
Same for our receivers.
DAN HENNING SCREWED US WITH THE WILDCAT.
Bottom line - DAN HENNING CAN'T WIN A GOOD OLE TIME SHOOTOUT EVEN IF HE HAS THE BEST TALENT TO WORK WITH.
