Benching Henne? Hahahahaha! Not Sparano

Once upon a time when the Dolphins re-signed Chad Pennington despite the fact they were going with Chad Henne as their starter, we discussed the possibility Pennington's presence would be a shadow over Henne. The Dolphins, being nearly as smart as us, discussed it also.

And at the end of that discussion, the Dolphins believed Pennington's presence to be an asset.

So now that Henne has not morphed into Dan Marino -- although he's still getting better -- some of you want Pennington back in, which is kind of ridiculous if you ask me. But hey, you get to have an opinion, too.

Unfortunately for you, Tony Sparano doesn't care what your opinion is. Today he discussed the topic of benching Henne, having Pennington around as a lurking shadow, what the factors were weighed in the decision to sign Pennington.

“Well Chad (Pennington), and you know one of the things is he’s the thousand pound elephant that’s in the room sometimes, so, we knew that obviously that’s one of the things that you consider when you bring a player like (Pennington) back. But it’s the other things that outweigh those kinds of situations. I mean I honestly, and this is no disrespect towards any fans out there, but I could [not] care less what they think about the quarterback situation.

"From that standpoint the positives like Chad Pennington the rapper out there today (laughing) alright. Those things outweigh -- that’s right it was awesome -- you know and I mean that’s a smart player knowing at this time after 13 days, okay, and living with the taste that you’ve had in your mouth that my teammates need a little something here, okay. I mean here it comes out of the blue so that’s the last guy you felt like might be doing something like that so it was really ... I mean those are the things that outweigh any of that other stuff, in other words, when you’re sitting there and you’re thinking, well you know if it doesn’t go your way everybody’s going to start screaming about Chad Pennington and any of those kind of things so it’s not worth doing.

"I don’t want to be in those kinds of situations I mean I just wanted to have the best players I could have around me at that point and that’s why we did what we did and it’s been a tremendous help to Chad Henne."

Sparano has Pennington in his back pocket anytime Henne gets hurt or the game is out of hand or Henne needs to sit. But sitting Henne? During a game? This season?

Nope. Thought hasn't come up.

"No, I mean I haven’t really…I can honestly truthfully tell you that those things haven’t gone through my head because every time that something like that happens there’s three other things that I could look at to say, 'Man look at that young guy do this.' And I mean, I can bat that back and forth with any of the Monday morning quarterbacks that are out there. Again, I just…you look at a what the kid has done right now and you put his numbers up against some of the other people in the league -- some one of you guys did it recently here, okay, I’ve seen it here in print. But, I think those are the things the guy does or he’s getting a lot better that way. And having Chad Pennington around him helps him a lot."

So back off.

I was an overreactional idiot calling for Henne to be benched after the New England Game. After a nights sleep. I came to my senses and realized benching Henne in favor of Penne was putting a band aid on a gunshot wound. With the growth of a young Qb. I accepted that with the good will come some bad, and a 17 game resume isn't enough to judge a player this orginization sees as the future at qb. How long is enough? I'm not sure. Barring injury Henne should be the guy for the rest of the season.

The Problem is not Chad(Fat neck)Henne but the offensive coordinator. IMOH....Henning passed away in 1964, and why this Zombie is still coaching is incredible... I mean he's been dead for almost 40 years............

Another example of the dead(Henning) taking jobs away from the living....... When will we take the laws of Wisconsin nationally???????

Why did you fix Sparano the Morono's "could care less" statement and make it "could [not] care less?" Weak.

I take it back,Henning has been dead now for almost 50 yaers.........

if he loses in Green Bay he may change his mind...

Eric, There's many faults with the mighty fins, it's almost impossible to fault one part of this team, IMHO it comes down to coaching, I mean how can you come up sooooo lame on National TV,not just one week but two.... and at home none the less........

hey look a couple more 3 INT games and we will see somebody else Henne is not beyond benching yet the goal is to win games period or Tony will be gone just the way it IS

2 HOURS AGO , CROWDER WILL START NEXT SUNDAY VS GB IN HIS FIRST GAME THIS YEAR .

U must b crazy.Henning is great! When Pennington was in we would eat the clock & get the ball in the endzone. The D was always fresh.I wish there was some way 2 cram Pennington's brain in2 Henne's body. The prob w/Henne is he panics when the pocket closes in on him.Pennington has great instinct 2 run & pick up 5yrd & make something out of a dead play.Henne panics & runs straight forward usually in2 a offensive lineman or throws a bad pass.I believe the Dolphins r as good as any team in the league.Turnovers r the only Dif between us & the Jets.I hope he gets it figured out quick. And can som1 tell me why we changed both guards in the offseason.I thought the O-Line was great last yr.We seam 2 have lost the ability 2 run the ball.We have 2 great backs that need touches 2 get rollin.I wish they would pick 1 and go with him. Switching back & forth every drive is rediculous.Ronnie needs 25+ touches per game.I would trade Ricky 2 a needy team & get a pick. This is his last yr anyway and I really like Cobbs. Just a thought.Go Dolphins!!

BENCH MY A S S.WE HAD CIRCUS QB'S IN THE LAST 15 YEARS AND WHEN THING STARTING TO LOOK GOOD FOR OUR QB WE START TO THINK HOW TO SCREW IT UP.

P.S......LEAVE HENNE ALONE ,BENCH MY A S S

TRADE THE WHOLE ENTIRE SPECIAL TEAMS TO ANY ONE EVEN GETTING ANY THING IN RETURN .GUST GET READY OF THEIR CONTRACTS .

Good for Coach, Henne is the QB and im glad he came out and told the fans he can care less what they think. Hene IS the future!!

JUST

ALoco tonights menu. Roasted Pheasant, with king boletes mushrooms, and braised swiss chard with bacon

Aloco,

My Favorite Hottie's "trying" to cook up some T-Bones and Apple Hash.

Not sure if I eat it or smoke it, but it's the Good Stuff!

odin, the blunder that BROWNS did by giving 5th draft pick over all to the jets in 2008 THAT allowed them to get SANCHEZ .DO YOU KNOW OF A BIGER BLUNDER ?

p.s....browns still looking for A QB .

What?

I didn't see your last post before mine.

Talking about me behind my back when I'm not here?

Stalker Alert! Quit Stalking me Aarrrrrgh!

ALOCO! You ROACH! You Beady eyed Little Rodent!

I WILL DESTROY YOU!!!!

PS: I miss the "good ole days" Aloco :)

ALoco: How good is your intel on a Pennington trade? Is it legit or are you just playing with the idea?

Make Henne loose 15 pounds and that should knock the robot endoskeleton out of him...he could probably pick up a 3rd and 6 by himself...

Aloco gets call from NORAD about the Penne trade talks..kiddn. Wassup guys, Loco, Cuban, Odin

In reading Sparanos comments, and I think this is something we kind of, I mean it's probably been seen once or twice. What I'm saying is, if you take what has been said in the past, and I think in these cases you have to, you have to believe Henne's had some of his best practices these last couple days.

Time for a drink to help unscramble it all.

You know what works well to decipher the Sparano Rants...the decoder ring in froot loops...Tony's fav cereal...who would have thought.

LOL - Utdolfan. You nailed it!

And...tonights menu at my pad...pineapple chicken and mixed veggi's on the side

Aloco,

To tell you the truth, I've never gotten over us picking Eric Kumerow in the first round.

He was the Grandson of the Almighty Chicago Mafia Boss Tony "The Tuna" Accardo. So when Miami waived him after one or two seasons, he was signed by the Da Bears.

I was taunting him at training camp(LOL!) for the Bears that year. I kept yelling about Miami and what happened.

After about 30 minutes of my relentless verbal barrage, he actually came over the fence and was screaming right in my face.

I didn't say a word, I just thought a quick prayer: Dear God please don't let me soil myself when this guy knocks me out. It was one of the more embarrassing moments in my life.

Kumerow sucked a s s, but he was Big Boy-DAMN!!!!

ALoco, Odin, Killa. You guys enjoy your meals. I'm out for the night. This is the last night that I get to spend with Lydia( Hot Chzech girl) before she goes back home. Odin, I know that you would appreciate the qualities these Eastern European Women possess!!!!

SHAWN HILL OF DETROIT WAS THE TRADE FOR CHAD.P BUT IN THE LAST 3 WEEKS HE SCORED 8 TD ,SO DETROIT SINCE THEN BACKED OFF .THE THOUGHT WAS PENNE WOULD BACK UP STAFORD AND ACT AS A MENTOR .I STILL THINK HE COULD END UP IN CHI W/CUTLER.

DARRYL, the massage industry is full of these eastern european women .i wonder why ?

odin, good story .

Darryl,

Represent Home Boy!!!!

Don't worry people, when it becomes obvious in the next game or two that Henne is not ready to lead the team to the playoffs, then Sparano will be forced to retract on his decision. I think Thigpen is a better choice because of his deep pass ability. Remember, everyone was calling for Henne when Pennington lost the first three games last year. So I still say that Thigpen should get a shot now, then he he bombs, then we should go to Pennington. Sparano has to produce this season or he will be selling pig ears on the corner of fifth and broad before the end of the season.

wait, wait, wait, WAIT. Pennington was RAPPING? Can we get a little elaboration on that?

Henne doesn't develop well. Having said that the season is tanked if the fans and stupid Sparano are stubborn and don't see Henne as having the skills for being a winning QB. Watch him blow the Green Bay game and people will blame the weather.

COACHIN OPENING NEXT YEAR;

BROWNS
COWBOYS
BILLS
CAROLINA
49'S
MIN.....................SPARANO WINNING PACT AT .600.ANY OF THESE WOULD LOVE TO HAVE HIM .MORE MATURE AND EXPERINCE .

hey tony!!! u better start caring what the dam fans think... we pay your salary.. we are in the stands.. we buy the merchandise.. we are the heart of why a sporting team i would think wants to win.. wait let me guess.. what your saying tony is its all about u!!! not surprised... thats why this team is about to be 2-3

Mando, I have watch Henne at the stadium time after time zero in on a receiver with tunnel vision and miss other players wide open, and even when he connects he has given the other team time to run to that side. I don’t see him moving his head and he looks confuse and timid at times.
Is it inexperience, coaching or lack of talent?

LET'S FACE IT GUYS ,SPARNO IS RIGHT .MOST OF YOU JUST DON'T KNOW FOOTBALL ,YOU MAY BE GOOD AT EATING THE HOT DOGS OR PASTA W/MEATBALL . LEAVE THE COACH COACH AND YOU ALL GET BUSY W/EATING .

I just don't get the people who hate Dan Henning. Henning is a guy who understands how to win running a conservative, ball-control, running offense. He has won at Washington, at Carolina and did well with the turn-around in Miami. Our team was purposefully built to operate with just such an offense. In the two games where we established a running game and passed selectively we won and in the two games where we aired the ball out a lot we lost. Henning is the right guy in the right place. Instead of complaining that we should pass more or be less conservative for this team with its talent and the young QB we have the actual task is to improve the implementation of our running game. Hopefully the Green Bay game will be a good start of getting back to basics.

student1776 STFU and shove the dec of ind up your @zzzz. Dan Henning sucks....PERIOD

The coach got to protect the QB

i was WRONG. henne should play, even though he is not a better quarterback than pennington. even though henne cant throw a good long ball but he can throw a 10 yard pass 100 mph, even though henne's mouth is hanging to the ground and he's tired(henne looks like an old man), even though henne runs like he's carrying a piano on his back, even though penningtons experience and talent of making plays and throwing a catchable ball will carry the dolphins into the playoffs and beyond, that stupidity mentality of LOSING GAMES to PROTECT YOUR HONOR WILL ELIMINATE MIAMI'S CHANCES OF MAKING THE PLAYOFFS. play the best man at every position. and one more thing, tell the PUNTER to start KICKING in ONE STEP instead of TWO or THREE. in semi-pro football most of the punters use a 1 step punt. the fields he needs to get faster at punting because i can write a term paper and play vivaldi's four seasons on my guitar before he gets the punt off.

thanka couvh for defending henne...
i wish i could keep this blog forever!!! because when henne get good and starts winning us some games. i wanna rub in to all of you henne haters faces!!! henne practically just finnished his first full nfl season and he is throwing 300 yard games...

Exactly bobby...student you are an assmongergerbil treat for loving henning. Maybe you guys can go shopping for tennis balls for the bottoms of your matching walkers. I warn you though...henning smells like an anchovies cu$t

I just want to get back to winning down here in MIA...and actually win a playoff game...after all the last post season win was when henning was a child back in 487BC

bobbyd12, i think your wrong about Henne being the "future"? Read your posts these last several years. Henne's had every opportuntity and hasn't produced consistently, which is what we need from our premier QB!

I don't think that Chad P brings anything to the table either. That leaves Thigpen, I hope you're right. We need some consistency and any INT's detract us from our goal, Post Season.

Make Henne loose 15 pounds and that should knock the robot endoskeleton out of him...he could probably pick up a 3rd and 6 by himself...

Could not say it much better...Cowkilla.
I watched Henne running against New England on that 3rd and 6. I swear I think my 45 year old ass could have caught him. Talkin bout Rumblin, Bumblin & Stumblin.

If Henne were to drop say 15 or 20lbs, he may get a bit more fluid in the pocket, He may even get more fluid in his Old lady...DooooH!!!!

Gman50... you trying to say The Miami Dolphins Football Organization needs to start listening to what THE FANS HAVE TO SAY?!?!?...SERIOUSLY? Gman50... Last year... all I heard was "We need Henne in there, Pennington has a Noodle arm" Now... we are calling for a QB's head who has thrown for 650+ yds in the last 2 games...asking for the same guy we wanted "out" last year.... Get real man. I love this team. I was born and raise right here in West Palm Beach loving this team. They became a team the year I was born (1966) I love our fans also... But over all... with a fairly large exception.... Miami has some REALLY BIZARRE FANS. Some are TEXTBOOK fair weather fans and some are just plain "Knee Jerk Knuckleheads" If Sparano started polling the fans for the starting Line-up or play calling... I'm afraid my Dolphins fan days would come to a screeching halt until Tony was beaten to death... Or thrown from the 400 section right into the new "Stadium Disco" hoping that he then would fall right on through to the "Orange carpet" making a nasty greasy mess of it... (stupid ass "Orange Carpet, Disco" crap).
Henning is the culprit... he'll go from our own 20 to the other teams 30 in 3 run plays and 2 pass plays right out of perfection... Then... Henning will run a "Right Tackle end around fake halfback pass to the right Guard with the QB blocking down field"...play on 3rd and 4 at the 27 of the opponent, lose 17 yards after the loss on the play and a holding call. Then lose Ronnie Brown to breaking his foot again on that stupid ass play... THEN!!!... Miami's field goal attempt will get blocked and ran back for a TD....

Guys... Henne IS NOT.... The problem here.

Hey Derek, i truely believe that if they slim him down a bit more that might be the key to his mobility for sure. I think he would run better and also be more fluid in the pocket. Now im not saying henne is fat...but a good 15lbs loss is the missing link here along with playing time which equals experience my friends!

Actually, I wasn't worried about Henne. That is until the coach started singing his praises! Last time he did that, the player was gone in no time at all! Hahaha.
No more pissy diapers! Put on your "Big Boy Panties", impose your will and dominate Green Bay! Go Fins!

Yep Tracy...strap up the depends and kill GB!!!!!

Cowkilla...

I am certain the trainers see what we do... gotta wonder WTF? Maybe he has a "Honey Bun" or Secret "Bear Claw & Chocolate Milk" habbit?

Any way you look at it... Green Bay without a formidable TE and suspect to the run is a beatable team. No excuses this week... live or die the schedule get really nasty from here on... Gotta get it done or go home.

True story Tracy... When the coaches start "talking guys up" I start watching for team Waivers info on my 24 hour twitter update page!!!

morono being a moron

the homers love morono and the super duper trifecta and all the best fa and draft picks

fake media needs radio interviews on failing radio show
