GREEN BAY -- Victory!
Dan Carpenter nailed a 44 yard field goal with 9:01 left to play in overtime to give the Dolphins a 23-20 victory over the Packers today.
Amazing.
The Dolphins have a 3-2 record. All three victories have come on the road for the nomads.
Both teams had the opportunity to drive the ball in the overtime period. The Dolphins had one more chance and made the most of it, moving 26 yards in seven plays for the score.

YEA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

ANY WORD ON DANSBY???????????
Posted by: Roman | October 17, 2010 at 04:20 PM
Dolphins won in spite of the coaching.
SPARANO BITES.

Game ball to Cam Wake.

Did anyone else get this weird Jets/Bills story by Armando?
Posted by: drsamii | October 17, 2010 at 04:20 PM
Screw playing at home, must be all the local negative fans!!
Go Phins/Canes!!
Posted by: DolphCanesInMemphrika | October 17, 2010 at 04:21 PM
Lucky, lucky win. Looks like it might have cost us Dansby though.
Posted by: Gatorz4Lyfe | October 17, 2010 at 04:23 PM
Here we go through the gauntlet now for the next few weeks.
Posted by: DC Dolfan | October 17, 2010 at 04:24 PM
Happy we got the W.
Winning against a team decimated by injuries does take some of the luster off.
Posted by: R & R EXPRESS | October 17, 2010 at 04:24 PM
Sweet !!!! The 2 best things about the game 1 the victory, 2 my best friends hot wife owes me a B.J. because of the packer loss. Don't think I'm not going to collect!! Go Phins
Posted by: Darryl Dunphy | October 17, 2010 at 04:25 PM
WOOOOOHOOOOOOOO!
Posted by: Eduardo Pineda | October 17, 2010 at 04:25 PM
But the Dansby thing didn't look like a twist. Just looked like he banged it good. Hopefully not a tear or anything.
Posted by: DC Dolfan | October 17, 2010 at 04:25 PM
Dansby got up pretty quick...but when it seems like a bruise its usually an ACL if you're a Dolphin.
Posted by: jamie luck | October 17, 2010 at 04:26 PM
As Armando said sometimes Henning does get the play call right. But what Henning does have to do is stop with the momentum killing calls.
Chad Henne clearly isnt good enough yet to overcome those type of calls. The play calling clearly needs to be Henne friendly.

I for one NEVER had a doubt, unlike many of you!
Gut wrenching

Emo with that attitude you must have only been a fan for a short time.
Posted by: jamie luck | October 17, 2010 at 04:29 PM
LOL Darryl.
R&R, not sure how that minimizes the win my man. Numbers don't care about details like injuries. If you mean to say we should have beat them by more, then you haven't been watching the NFL this year. All the team's for the most part are pretty even. I'd say GB is probably overall a better team right now, so, with the injuries, we're probably about even. Not sure what the Dolphins have shown you in 5 games that says we're ready to win big. Our biggest win was 5pts. Against the worst team in the league. So this win was hard-fought and totally satisfying to me. This is one we can learn from (and gain confidence from).
Posted by: DC Dolfan | October 17, 2010 at 04:30 PM
The play calling was fine today, a good mix of run to pass. Every play isn't going to go our way. We should be psyched about this win, another tough road win. Noithing to complain about, great TEAM win!!!!
Posted by: Darryl Dunphy | October 17, 2010 at 04:31 PM
brutal day on the blog but in the end a W is a W -- let's give credit where credit is due Special Teams today delivered on a 53 yard field goal and the game winner
now let's kick the Steelers' ass!
Posted by: jamison | October 17, 2010 at 04:31 PM
That was a very postive message darryl ...the bj must be underway. I am concerned about Sparano. He isn't developing as a coach. Gets too excited and makes dumb decisions.
Posted by: jamie luck | October 17, 2010 at 04:33 PM
Coach Rizzi looks like a keeper.
Posted by: R & R EXPRESS | October 17, 2010 at 04:37 PM
IMAwriter - People not b*tching about Dan Carpenter - they're talking about Bobbie Carpenter (back up ILB and ST resident meathead).
Holy crap Darryl - I wish I had friends who's wives would make bets like that with me, and deliver (and my friends not care?). My wife might not be so accepting, though. Eff it, I'd collect anyway.

@Jamie:
since 1971......saw Fins lose to Dallas in sugarbowl; season ticket holder from 1977-2006; traveled to two (other) away SB losses (SF in Dany's 1st full season & Redskins at Rose Bowl during WoodStrock era).
Many trips to NYC during Marino-O'Brien era.
Haven't missed a game since one while on cruise in 1983.
I've EARNED the right to suffer.
Posted by: Emo | October 17, 2010 at 04:40 PM
henne seems to look at only the primary receiver to often. grest win!!
Posted by: jbarrett | October 17, 2010 at 04:43 PM
@ Emo. No slight meant. I admire the optimism. It's tough to stay positive with this team. You never see the Pats make mistakes like Miami.
Posted by: jamie luck | October 17, 2010 at 04:43 PM
Effing Pats pull it out........its gonna take some luck to get back into ths diviion race
Posted by: Emo | October 17, 2010 at 04:44 PM
NE beats Ravens. Ugh.
Posted by: Jimmy Jam | October 17, 2010 at 04:45 PM
Thanks again JJ...sorry to waste valuable space..LOL
I stoked by the win, just hope Dansby isn't lost.
BTW, why does it seem our coaching staff is VERY late in making personnel decisions?
Why did we not throw Wake in earlier LAST year...especially when everyone was throwing on us?
If B carpenter is that bad, why is he still playing?
Posted by: IMAWriter | October 17, 2010 at 04:45 PM
Go Broncos!
Posted by: R & R EXPRESS | October 17, 2010 at 04:45 PM
@Jamie---none taken...I assumed you'd seen my super-negative posts all day and were (justifiably) needling me......the post you saw was snark directed at myself.....i have grave doubts about this regime & qb, but i'll take a win at GB any day of the week,
Posted by: Emo | October 17, 2010 at 04:47 PM
Harrison (Pit) should be fined for that helmet to helmet hit, he wont be though because it doesnt work that way in the NFL>
Posted by: jamie luck | October 17, 2010 at 04:47 PM
good win despite:
morono/henning sucking it up as usual
and bell/smith/davis playing like crap
Posted by: test | October 17, 2010 at 04:47 PM
one wild card is going to be ravens/steelers
other wild card is coming from our division (pats/jets/fins)
can't lose anymore division games
Posted by: test | October 17, 2010 at 04:50 PM
Yes, Go Broncos.
I worry more about the Jets, especially with the New York media so influential, who knows how far the league might go to influence things in the Jets favor. Start of games, exerting pressure on officiating (yeah, I know, I buy into network conspiracy theories, especially for the fact betting is a huge reason there is HUGE support for 18 games)
Wish I could see the Bronks/jets game, but busy.
BTW, was Hokuli (sp?) and his crew viewing the same game as y'all? LOL
Posted by: IMAWriter | October 17, 2010 at 04:51 PM
Yeah, my best friends wife was my girlfriend in college. She is used to this drill!!! She shouldn't have opened her mouth(no pun intended) about how bad the Phins suck(once again no pun intended) and how the Packers would crush today. Time to pay the piper!!!!

Tebow rushing TD. Donkeys 7- jets 7
Posted by: Darryl Dunphy | October 17, 2010 at 04:55 PM
stupid ravens gave that game away...
effin patsies
branch had 9 catches for 98 and 1 TD lol
Posted by: test | October 17, 2010 at 04:58 PM
Hey Emo... sounds like you have deeper Dolphin scars than even me... good on you.
I agree with your doubts re. this team.
MIA beat Bills = 2 win team; Vikes = 6 win team; beaten up pack (not the '66 Pack).
I think the coaches are in over the heads long term.
That said... feel better to win today than loose.

GREAT WIN DOLPHINS..But ...Jason Allen is snake bit..3 int's this year .Fumble by Ricky Williams ...Fumble by Ronnie Brown...4 and out today..As for Sean Smith this guy has become a average player ever since he changed his # from 31 to 24..WTF!GO DOLPHINS4LIFE!SLICKRICKDOG

Great effort on the road despite the inability to convert stat dominance into TOUCHDOWNS! This is a young team. The score could easily have been 34 to 20. They are still making some of the same mistakes but also improving in small ways.
Go Phins!

Does anyone have any insight into John Jerry?
What type of illness is "undisclosed?"
Does he suffer from a mood disorder/mental health issue? (society deals well with that... NOT).
Something else? Hope he's not ill ... he's young for issues (cancer, etc.).

Stop the celebrating It was 4th and goal on the with game on the line and there was no one within 3 yards of the center? This is a disfunctional organization that suffers huge mental and organizational blunders every week. Blame Nolan if you want but this falls on Sparano when it happens over and over. He calls his team grinders, and that is a nice meat and potaos analogy, but he puts his team at a disadvantage every week with predictability costs his team at least 7 points a week.
The Packers were decimated and this should have been a blowout. Sparano? Not the brightest bulb in the circuit. Failed to call timeout when Packers were 1st-4th and goal at end of regulation. Henning has lots of talent at the skilled posiotions and manages to defuse them or kill momentum on almost every drive. Henne is clearly slow mentally and physically and you can't have that at QB. We have been absolutely killed on qb keepers the last few years - remember Schaub walking in w/ 5 seconds left last year? Same problem. Same coach ... I don't see this team going anywhere. I never thought I'd say this, but I would really rather have Cowher here.
Its a win in GB and that is gold anytime, but this organization has sure fallen and this feels no different than the Wandstadt years. There is no identity, no leadership and the team is mentally playing checkers while their opponents are playing chess.

an UGLY WIN is BETTER than an HONORABLE LOSS. there was a little more URGENCY this week AND IT SHOWED. DEFENSE put more PRESSURE on green bay. MIAMI WINS!
