Dolphins offensive plays calls were curious -- again

Enough of the fumble controversy (for now) because the call will not be overturned or somehow repaired. The Miami Dolphins' 23-22 loss to the Pittsburgh Steelers cannot be erased so no need to continue reliving it.

But what seemingly we continually relive with these Dolphins is the curious if not outright inexplicable play-calling on offense that leaves fans in a frenzy and state of frustration.

Sorry, Dr. Dan Henning, oh sherpa of all things NFL offense. But count me among the folks left scratching their heads following Sunday's game.

I don't understand the strategy on the first two possessions, both inside the Pittsburgh 22-yard line. I didn't understand the strategy of starting a potential game-winning drive in the final two minutes of the game with a running play -- against the NFL's No. 1 rush defense.

Let's take the first two series first. The Dolphins kicked off and got a gift possession when the Steelers fumbled the kickoff and Reshad Jones recovered, giving Miami a first down on the Pittsburgh 22 yard line. Most offensive coordinators today view this as an opportunity to go for the opponent's throat. The Steelers were on the field in an emergency situation and so what do the Dolphins do?

They run an off-tackle play to the right side with Ronnie Brown carrying the ball. It gained 2 yards. Two yards! The Dolphins have the Steelers in a tough spot, in a momentum-capturing moment and they run a routine off-tackle play against the No. 1 rush defense in the NFL.

The next two plays were Chad Henne incompletions. I get the concept of throwing then. No problem. But here's my deal: Neither play went into the end zone. And neither play targetted Brandon Marshall.

The Dolphins, in their wisdom, didn't deem a call for their best receiver as a good option. And the team that has been kicking too many field goals and not scoring enough TDs didn't attack the end zone.

The team still got a field goal and a 3-0 and then got another gift the very next series when Pittsburgh's Ben Roethlisberger fumbled and Koa Misi recovered for Miami at the 13 yard line.

Time to go into the end zone, right? Time to get the ball to Marshall, right?

Henning called a Ricky Williams run to the left. It gained zero.

Then Henning called a Ricky Williams run to the right. It gained 8 yards.

Then on third-and-2 from the 5 yard line, Henning called on Williams again, once again testing the right side of the Pittsburgh defense. No gain. Field goal.

Not good enough, Salguero says.

Then there was the aborted attempt to win the game with the two-minute drive at the end. Let me just say that the execution, which is Henning's pet peeve, was bad. Anthony Fasano dropped a pass on second down. Henne threw to the wrong receiver (Lousaka Polite) on third down and that gained only 2 yards. And the fourth down play was a total breakdown of the protection and the communication between the QB and his receivers.

But ...

Why did that drive open with a running play? The Dolphins had taken a timeout, their final timeout, with 2:30 to play before Pittsburgh kicked the game-winning field goal. The idea at the time was to keep the Steelers from letting the clock run down to two minutes.

But then Miami made that timeout of no effect by opening their drive with a run. Either you need the time and you take the time out and then throw the ball. Or you don't need to save time and you don't need the to take the time out. You cannot have it both ways.

But with 2:19 to play, facing the best run defense in the NFL, using a running back that had gained 12 yards on 10 carries, the Dolphins handed the ball off to Brown. The play gained 2 yards.

I'm not playing the results here. I'm saying the Dolphins needed to throw in the end zone to their best receiver when they're inside the other team's 25 yard line after a turnover every single time they find themselves in that situation. I simply believe it's a good idea to get the ball in your best offensive weapon's hands as a philosophy.

And as for the final drive, if you're going to run the ball on first down, don't waste a time out before that. And if you are going to call the time out, which was the right call, then follow that up with another good call and pass the ball to open your two-minute drive.

This is hard to write, but Miami is going to have to upgrade the coach sooner or later. I say hard, because I like Sparano, but you don't win in this league with likable coaches.

I know the Steelers are the class of the league... but Miami has to stop making excuses at some point and win a big game.
Sooner or later you have to decide if you want to look back on another coaching era where a guy keeps his job for 5-10 years with an underachieving team while fans watch other teams play every January.

I know the team is not there talent wise yet and I know its been a short time since 1-15. However progress is not being made. The team is in a holding pattern. Last year when it mattered down the stretch , the team lost to Buffalo, Tennessee, Houston , Pitt etc.

This year its not only the losses, its the way the team is losing. At home. They are consistently being exploited in areas that are not being corrected. QB keepers on 4th and short with the game on the line have been killing the team going back to last season.
The team has failed to put together a collection of 11 players from the 53 man roster to cover a kickoff. When it happens over and over, it falls on the coach.

There are no excuses for Miami's inconsistency or failure to score TDs. The team has Ronnie Brown and Ricky Williams - two players with game changing ability. Brandon Marshall. Bess can clearly move the chains. Despite having an o-line that is average to mediocre in the middle (rg-c-lg) the team has arguable (overall) a good oline. And a coach that is a former o-line coach.

You can continue to make excuses, but the offense fails when the game is on the line. When was the lst time the team threw vertically. Instead you see Marshall running 7-10 yard patterns and catching button hooks.
Defenses are playing at an advantage covering only a 20 yard field, keeping Miami in front of them. You can blame the o coordinator, but the coach is to blame when strategy does not change week to week.

The nature of the Jets, New England losses at home to division rivals is unacceptable. The team did not compete when the game was on the line and you can blame the coach for that.

Again, I like Sparano. I really do. He is humble, hard working and well spoken without excuses or bull. But this team needs to evaluate its priorities (hello...winning -anyone???)and standards and consider that the elite teams establish a sense of urgency and benchmark that is higher than what this once great organization has fallen to.

This feels and looks like a Wandstadt loss, except that I would argue that the talent is much better. And frustratingly, I cannot blame the players. Some of them are overachieving free agents, and undrafted. The pedigree players produce when utilized to their advantage, but they are rarely put in position to succeed. The young QB is clearly talented, but not in a qb friendly coaching environment and his development is obviously being retarded in the anemic, predictable offensive scripts. The wildcat (and the dreaded wildPat last year) just killoffensive flow.
Moreover... the players literally look like they are searching for leadership or someone to show them how to win. It does not look like the team has given, or demanded of Henne that onus - he does not project or carry himself as a leader, but as an aww shucks - what me worry Opie character. Nowhere is that more evident than in crunch time - case and point - the 2 minute drill yesterday with the game on the line - Fasano drops that ball and I want Henne in his face. Sooner or later you have to turn the reigns over and Parcells 5 year QB developpment plan of back in the eighties doesnt cut it. You are going to have to suffer losses , ints , learning sometime- so why not get it in now in year 3 instead of year what is it 6 or 7 with Romo. I love Parcells 10 qb commandments but other than Simms, but he was never a great qb development guy. Henning is a Parcells guy too.

Strategically and tactically Miami is playing checkers while his opponents appear to be playing chess.

I think Sparano stays this season - you arent going to find your coach of the future in mid-season anyway, but with another draft to fill the holes and some injured players back (actually you should expect injuries every year - well coached teams overachieve in that regard), Ireland may have to prove his worth in the most important personnel decision at his disposal - head coach.
As a lifelong fan who has seen the glory years, it just sucks that this is shaping up as another wasted season - I'm getting older and I've seen this movie before. Don't bother telling me that the season is young... you cant consistently go 2-2, 3-3 with home division losses and say - We'll catch fire late and make up for it and make the playoffs. The nature of your losses in big games says alot about you... embarrassed last year by Indy after dominating (prime time at home), the New Orleans meltdown with a 21 point lead, ... the losing stretch when it counted last year, the embarrassing home losses this year ... eventually the excuse run dry and you have to decide if the guy at the realms hasn't achieved all he can and, after the season, do something difficult - even dare I say, the most important choice that affects your franchise's future- not in desparation coming off a 1- 15 season (again I am forever gratefull for 2008). You have time to start thinking about charting the course of the future strategically and proactiveley - not reacting to a disaster, but in the cold hard light of the reality. Finding someone who is yes, I dare say it - better.

Home would have sat Ronnie right away
Ronnies dancing and plodding with 25 lb ankle weights on will fail 99 out of 100 times against Steeler defense

Ricky can fire through a hole like a cannon ball

Ronnie stops, licks his finger, holds it in the air to check wind speed & asks directions

What would happen if Henne saw Marshall in one on one coverage in the red zone, checked out of the called play and threw it up to him to make something happen? I feel like any good QB in the league would at least try that once. It's not like they are going to bench him. Too bad they have made Henne in to such a robot...

What a tough loss. I thought we were the more physical team. Pass protection was great. Ricky is running better than Ronnie. Game plan was too conservative. Must find a way to get the ball to "the Beast". Defense still can't get off of the field on third down. Must eliminate big plays and poor tackling. Kick off coverage still sucks. We score and allow them to return it to mid-field at least twice. Another blown opportunity. These guys really test my patience.

When was the last time you saw a "do-over" in the NFL? Similiar penalties by both teams on the same play. That's it. On a loose ball in the field of play? Either Pitt gets it and the TD or the Fins get it for a turnover. Been watching for almost 40 years and this is the first do-over I have seen. Nonsense.

Sounds like the conclusion here is that we got out-coached.
I agree, we got out-coached AGAIN!
Nice post Armando.

I have to say, probably the worst play call of the day was the handoff to Ronnie on 3rd and a half a yard. Why hand off to a RB that is 7 yards deep in the backfield when you only need 1/2 yard?

Chad Henne has run a QB-keeper on 3rd or 4th and short all season. Why? It is the easiest way to pick up a 1/2 yard, period. Henning never calls it. Like it isn't even in the playbook. Yet, you will hand off to a RB that has to gain 7 yards just to get back to the line of scrimmage?

And a close second to that awful play-call were the few times when the Dolphins only had one receiver run a pattern. How can limit an offense so drastically?? If that one receiver is covered, you are giving the QB no option.

It's very simple, the game was fixed. Just like the Dolphins lose to S.F. in the Super Bowel was fixed. My best friend who was a made man and the head of his own family in Tampa, grew up with and was best life long friends with Santo Trafficante in Ybor City, who latter moved to Miami. They had put Dick Greco in as mayor in Tampa and later he worked for S.F. 49ers when the game was fixed. Major sports would rather let cheatting go on than try and stop it and have the public find out. Have you heard anymore about ref's in the NBA ? you think it was just that one guy ? come on.How about baseball, you think the players juiced on there own ? come on the league planned it, they needed the home run race, baseball was dead. Why does the NFL use old business men that are paid very little for the games? Think about it.

ive been saying it since last season...henning has to go..period!!&this coaching staff has lost us several games the last to seasons..clock management&going for it on 4th down is not in sprano's vocabulary..i truly believe we have the players in place..zim hoping ross makes cower an offer he will not refuse..ill even take j.gruden at this point!

WHY DO I FEEL THAT the 50 million dollars man gets paid every week and he goes to buy a new suit right away .

And the way they are using Marshall is atrocious? I thought the plan with bringing Marshall in was to open up the offence. I haven't seen that yet this year. This guy is a game and talented and he's being under-utilized. If the problem is he's double-teamed all the time the let's get out and get someone else who the defence will have to worry about.

Dear Mr. Salguero

Would you please ask Karlos Dansby where was Jesus....I didn't see him all game.

Soiled :)

Home would have had NO PROBLEM

if Tony Sparano took All 53 guys and All coaches and
Marched Them into the Tunnel to the Locker Room
In Protest after that ABSURDLY CORRUPT FIXED CALL giving the Steelers the ball back on the F!@#ing 1 YD line

The only way to STOP THIS BULLSHIET!

Take the entire team off the field

and let the crowd Chant .....BULLSHIET

This Is Way Out Of Hand

and the Bastards
Get Away with it AGAIN

your pissed off Christian Brother

you all (and...Armando and other writers) do realize Pitt has the #1 running Defense? That they only allowed an average of 12 points per game to be scored on them???? We had 6 points within 3 minutes, and almost doubled what they've allowed the season thus far! Yes, each of our team could have executed better, yes every play called could be "better" in hindsight, 20/20....as always. However...we played the #1/2 ranked team by most experts, and really did "just enough"...to eek a win out by a superior opponent in every aspect of the game.....and we DID lose it on bad refereeing at the end...that call made right...we win...end of all this discussion.

All the beat writers would be saying how we managed to do a great job finding a way to beat the Stealers, a team contending to go to the SB...how we managed to keep balance on offense, depsite not gaining alot on the ground, to keep their Defense honest, how we ground out the game, and took our chances where we could, and our own Defense faltered frequently but came through when it mattered most, how are special teams weren't quite special, but didn't cost us the game.

Almost every article I've seen since yesterday is ridiculous.

r.brown seems the bad news we have on this team,in the pats game he also ran a wildcat and he stood there w/ball doing no thing .

You know what I`m gonna do about this?

You know what I`m gonna do about this!

piss & moan and stamp my feet ...
and do absolutely nothing ... like every other sucker fan & sports reporter with NO Balls that got chumped once again by the NFL

Screwed Again

How many times do we have to be Insulted by this Bullshiet!

Like I said before, we always play to make a play at the end against the good teams like the Steelers and WE DID... were not a very good offense right now and you guys had our best receiver double covered the entire game with Troy and Clark!!! so the passes was not there for us, so we did have our chances but we did what we had to do to WIN...make ONE play at the end...same as we did in Minn and GB..one play at the end....o well maybe this will force us change offensive philosophies and open it up a bit with the Inexperience QB.

Dolphins need to scour the Earth for a young football genius and hire him as a long term solution ala Don Shula.
This perennial rebuilding process approach is tiring.
If Mother Theresa was a Dolphins fan even she would be cursing at this point.

I don't understand why opposing teams can get Hines Ward matched up against linebackers, Mike Wallace matched up one on one with yeremiah Bell, and get one on one coverage with Jason Allen with no safety help but we can't seem to get brandon marshall freed up in similar situations.

Is our defensive co-ordinator that bad or is our offensive co-ordinator that bad? has to be one or the other. I think Nolan has done a decent job so i will opt for the latter.

Think we are one of the only teams that could not even get into field goal range with an NFL eternity of time left

Think the whole F`N thing is rigged
and it sucks

What the Hell are you gonna do about this?

Darn It, Man
Let`s Start A Riot

Rodger Goodell ..... Tear Down those Walls !

Say what u will but the defense made a play when they needed it most we were robbed plain and simple.

Think Nolan did a GREAT JOB

Think Henning & the Ref got a big bag of money
Had to work real hard to throw that game at the end

and that sissy play calling after 1st two turnovers
playing only to set up a field goal
R U Kidding Me!

What is that called ... preventive offense

Reach Out & Jerk Me Off!

That game was a fixed as It gets!

Great Qoute From "FLOYD" Home, Are you part of the "NWO", and if you are what does Scott Hall and Hulk Hogan think about all this??????

Oh Man did you see Henne play or what? If you gave him the ball four times within the twenty to start do you not expect a semi-competent QB to score? He sucks and he's the problem not the coach.

Simply The Bess & Marshall should have been targeted
15 times each against the 24th rated pass defense

What a shame :(

Armando, how is the Nolan Carroll injury looking?

Set aside the fact that Miami got ROBBED at the end of the game by poor officiating, if they would have turned at least ONE of those turnovers into a TD, that game would have been OURS!! I do believe the play calling was suspect in the beginning of the game! You were given a gift...not once but TWICE in the beginning of the game!! Learn from the first series and THROW THE DAMN BALL!! If not to Marshall, then get it to Bess!! Might as well bring back Norv Turner to call the plays....he SUCKED too!!! We should have won that game...within the first 2 minutes of the game!! But as usual, conservative play calling, and the inability to finish games leaves us at 3-3, and with the jets and the patriots playing the way they are, going to be a tough fight to get back in the division race....sucks...I had such high hopes for this year! 1-2 in the division. They still have a chance, but they need to win the last 3 games in the division to have an outside chance.

p.s. Let Henne play DAMN IT!!! The kid gloves came off, but were replaced with teen gloves with a curfiew

an ode from 2 watt.

if the field marshall from marshall was the starter with marshall as your wr, the phins would be 6-0 and in 1st place in the nfl at this point.

I see Sparano on the sideline pumping his fists and jumping up and down after a successful field goal. Wonder if TOUCHDOWN is in his vocabulary. What I don't see is a head coach !!!

No Menace
Home is slave
That knows way too much and wont let the doctors drug him & dumb him down like the other oblivious sheeple

Home is on the Red list
Prob only have a year or less left on this planet

Darn shame
My shell is strong & healthy enough for another 60-70 yrs

armando you nailed it on the head! not to take away from other gaffs. terrible kick off coverage and the 3rd down and long d is obscene. keep giving up big plays on 3rd and long. henning needs to be called out in the media. he is not calling good games, it is obvious even to the untrained eye. what the hell did we get brandon marshall for if not to throw to him in endzone. this team always wins ugly because we dont go for the jugular when we can. settle for field. we have great weapons. ricky, ronnie, bess, marshall?? how the hell we score 5 field goals..its bad play callign. hennign is going to get sporano fired and maybe sproanio should get fired for not calling him out on it or getting rid of him. i need anti anxeity meds watc
hign this team play.

Fins Lost, cant blame anyone, during every game one or two calls will be called that are B.S, It's the great teams that over come them, The Fins are not the latter of this equation....

Yes Home,

The "prevent offense"

Almost sure to prevent a win.

looking back at the last 4 games the Fins should be 3-1, not 1-3. Henning and Sparano have destroyed another season before it started. The other really frustrating aspect is their outright stubborn thick headedness. they refuse to acknowledge tjey are wrong when everyone else thinks or knows otherwise. Ireland needs to fire Henning now and Sparano at seasons end if he refuses to change. Bonamego got canned for his failures, why cant Henning?

Tony Sparano is dope. My God man can you go any more crazy over a lousy field goal? What's up with that, he doesn't act like he has ever been to a football game let alone coaching one...FIRE THIS MORON and HENNING!

and Menace
the line was actually from Ronald Reagan
"Mr. Gorbachev, Tear Down Those Walls"

know u have Pink Floyd on the brain
as the massive earthquake/disaster is scheduled to strike bout the same time as the South Florida Roger Waters show

just nod if u can hear me

You forgot the call at midfield. We have third and one. To me this means a double dose of Lou Polite -- statistics say two tries and he'll get you the one yard. No, Henning decides to run Ronnie Brown, who should be on "Dancing with the Stars", off right tackle with Jake Long pulling. What a bone head call!

It has been 3 years of poor clock management, game management and play calling. If I owned this team i would call them out. If that didnt work, fire all their arsses!!!

Utdolfan | October 25, 2010 at 12:32 PM

U have heard of the preventive defense

The Dolphin run the preventive offense lol

Benny Sapp locked up on Hines Ward. Preposterous. Jason Allen covering Mike Wallace. Ridiculous. At some point, someone on this coaching staff has to realize that they need to put Vontae Davis on the opposition's best WR. End of story. If you think that is Hines Ward, put Vontae on Hines Ward and double up on Wallace. If you think that is Wallace, then put him on Wallace and double up on Ward. Unfortunately, the Dolphins staff feels that Jason Allen can only play on the boundary, so he plays the outside receiver. They don't want him on the inside, because they don't think he can handle playing like a nickle corner. Too much for Jason to think about there. This totally eliminates any flexibility in the secondary and results in situations where Allen continues to get beat deep by the opposition's better receivers. Stupid.

You know how Dan Henning and a lot of NFL coaches are,

Can the team switch leagues and play in the UFL? Obviously the NFL does not want us to succeed.

I hate Henning's conservative play calling as well, but when a pass is called, it isn't Henning checking down for a two yard pass to the fullback. I can't tell whether Henne is extremely nervous or extremely apathetic, but he is not a leader and he does nothing to improve his teams chances of winning. I agree that 50% of the offensive problems are the OC but the other 50% is the QB. Put Pennington in, at least he is a decisive and proven winner.

I am getting extemely frustrated with Henne. He is tall and stong armed. But, he is slow moving and slow thinking. He cannot be counted on at crunchtime. He could not win the big one at Michigan against OSU (four years). He'll never be able to it in the pros consistently. We will be waiting for years for it to happen before we decide to move on.

Henne is now programmed to dink and dunk. I don't understand the logic. The best dinker and dunker in maybe league history is Chad Pennington. If this is the strategy, then put the best in business in the game. Bess, Hartline, and Marshall are all designed for run after the catch. Let Penne put it in their hands to run. Penne is not even hesitant to throw down field -- remmember all the passes to Fasano. This is a formula for victory.

I can't handle watching Henne any more. Instead of waiting for him to carry us to victory, I watch waiting for him to screw up. Best example, last play of the game he had a great pocket and plenty of time. What did he do? He rolled right into the rush. STUPID!!

Mando, right something about either getting rid of Henne or having him throw vertical. We all marvel about his arm strength and question is weakness being touch. So, what do we do? We dink and dunk.

Seriously, how often do Sparano and Henning talk over game plans per week? Does Sparano trust him and buy into his play calls? I just hope Sparano takes him to task over this. Sparano needs to own up because it's not just Henning's, but his head is also on the line.

Perhaps this is where Parcells "consultanting" should come in to play. But I doubt he would want to meddle.

Crap, someone's taking my username!

So the ruling from the NFL higher power is ... TD

No, No

Um fumble

No, No, no fumble did not see that

um tackled on the 1 yard line and Clemons knocking the ball out (like the replay showed) did not happen either

The ground cause the fumble, so Steelers get another down with the ball on the 1 yard line

Ok, Ok lets go with that

Help me out
Is this the story we are going with ?

Another goat from yesterday.......Vernon Carey. He was absolutely terrible yesterday. He was beaten repeatedly by a Steelers backup linebacker, Jason Worilds. Woodley had gone out of the game with a hamstring injury, and Worilds came in and abused Vernon Carey.

Fat Vern is terrible.

And is John Jerry ever going to play again?

Does anyon realize the Dolphins are on track to score 27 touchdowns. 27. Theyve scored 10 in 6 games. They should have doule that in 6 games. Thats coaching. Period.

There was a good article on ESPN.com regarding the controversy at the end. We did get shafted, but the problem of play calling persists. They should send Henning off with a nice PowerPoint presentation of all his career highlights and a nice gold watch. They can even include that great call from last week on the pass to Fasano, the a-hole Henning crowed about it to the press after the game. His play calling is awful, they have no continuity, they do not fool teams on keep play calling situation and frankly, they don’t even take advantage of their own strengths. This is a playoff team in 2010 who may not make it because of these poorly coached losses.

Sadly Tim, as a huge Dolphin fan who was frustrated by that call, I have to give you credit here for being correct. I would love to say that it was the call that did us in, but it wouldn't be fair to the Dolphins Defense to overlook that we outplayed an excellent Steelers team. The Dolphins shut down Rashard Mendenhall throughout the game. the pass rush harassed Roethlisberger consistently and, most importantly, the Dolphins owned the second half. On the downside, those two opportunities in the first quarter resulting in only 6 (rather than 10 or 14...) points gave me a bad feeling from the start. Bottom line is that, and I've been saying this for weeks, DAN HENNING needs to go! There are several great retirement communities in South Florida. He can watch all of the football that he wants and feel a part of the game, but Henning is FINISHED as a successful play caller in the league. Until the Dolphins pull the trigger on this, they will be good but not a playoff winning caliber team.

LOL never slept R and R

Yeah, brilliant idea, bring in Chad Pennington who shat himself when he played against the Ravens in the playoffs. Henne played against the baddest defense in the NFL, had to continually bail out a failing running game, and put up 22 points despite a scenile old coot for a co-ordinator. yes, definitely all his fault. i mean, really? He's fearless and constantly improving. let the guy develop. He's outperforming Super Bowl qbs and Pro Bowl qbs as it is. Some of you guys are just idiots.

The entire room of Fins fans agree with you Mando! We all said the playcalls were pathetic;on more than one series in the redzone I was screaming for Marshall,Bess,Hartline and Wallace to line up and stretch the defense. But,Grandpa Dan had other conservative ideas--FGs.Just once I would like to see Sparano overule Grandpa Dan!As I have written recently,I said Henning had to go two years ago.Maybe Ross will wakeup soon.

I think they should have called the same play toward end of regulation they did against the Packers and take a knee. That would've thrown off the Steelers.

Armando, dude you must erase the post with the name of the referee. his home number, and buisness number. Come on this isn't a vigilante squad. Imagine a bunch of losers calling this guys buisness up, or worse his wife. Leave it alone people. But you have to be sick in the head, and a lonley basement dweller to phone referees after a loss that in truth can't be all pinned on him.

In addition to the refs screwing us out of the game, they also screwed Wake out of another sack.

The QB's forward fumble cannot be advanced. The ball should have been spotted at the point where Pittsvilles center gained possesion. Wake should have been credited with THE sack.

Oh, and Henne is garbage!

Hennings playbook:

1st Down - Run up middle - 2yds
2nd Dowm - Run off tackle - 2 Yds
3rd Down - Fool 'em with a pass. 2yd out pattern (Overthrown by Henne or picked off.)

Wasn't this Wannys playbook or JJ. Still establishing the run in the 4th with 2 min left and needing a FG to win.

Need a QB! I'd take Fiedler back at this point!

Mark in Toronto - agree 100%.
