The Dolphins are rockin' the aqua tops and white pants tonight on Monday Night Football. The field is rockin' real sod again following last night's season-finale for the Florida Marlins. That means there are strange, brown, uneven patches from about the 30 yard line going in to the west end zone here at Sun Life Stadium.
I expect a high-scoring game.
I simply don't see how the Patriots will be able to stop the Dolphins running game. I know they will try. I know they will present multiple fronts that could include the dreaded eighth defender. But I just think the Dolphins have seen so much of it, they will be able to move the ball on the ground if they stick to it.
I also think the Dolphins will be able to pass the ball. The Patriots have shuffled their defensive backfield this week, benching both cornerback Darius Butler and safety Brandon Meriweather. They can be exploited.
And, obviously, I think the Patriots will be able to move the ball on Miami. I think Tom Brady can find the holes in the Miami secondary but the truth is the Patriots now think themselves something of a good running team with Benjarvus Green-Ellis in the backfield.
They think they can run it against a Miami team that has given up over 140 rushing yards each of the past two weeks and doesn't like putting eight men in the box.
So what do you have when all this comes together?
Points!
I could be wrong, but it's hard to argue with the logic. We'll see.
Come back here for the updates on the inactives. The live blog starts in the comment section below. See you there.,
[Update: The Dolphins inactives are Channing Crowder, Jared Odrick, John Jerry, Jeron Mastrud, Marlon Moore, Robert Rose, Patrick Brown, with Tyler Thigpen the third QB.]

Armando,
BTW I'm here on the West Coast and only got the Charger v Cardinal feed when I was driving yesterday. The Commentators absolutely ripped J. Porter. They held nothing back- takes plays off, talks too much, ineffective, got juked out of his cleats etc. The worse was when the commentator said he was yelling and screaming at the defense trying to pump them up and everyone was walking away and tuning him out. They said when you take plays off it's hard for anyone to see you as a leader. OUCH! Go Misi and Wake!
Domination of the Dolphination!

Dan Marino, Mark Clayton and Mark Duper are here tonight. They're on the field. Pretty cool.

Enjoy the game tonight...
I hope the post game chat is about a team "on the come," rather than one that's a few players away.
I worry a bit that the coaching staff is in over its head.
Also worry about the two safeties and their ability to cover.
We shall see...
Peace from Canada.

im nervous about the game but not nearly as much as last week. i have to say i think if we play the jets at 1pm last week and they wear their green we beat them. I think they would have worn down much more under the south florida sun. now what would fans like better a cooler game or a win???
Posted by: dave | October 04, 2010 at 08:17 PM
Brandon Marshall getting his due respect. But the key to victory is Ronnie/Ricky running for over 100yds. And somebody checking Welker.
Posted by: DC Dolfan | October 04, 2010 at 08:17 PM
Am disappointed that JJ isn't starting at guard.
I know he was ill... what did he have Mando... some sort of food poisoning?
Was looking forward to watching Odrick too... oh well... there's lots of football to be played after the bi-week.

Mando, GET THE PREGAME FEED TO THE DOLPHINS LOCKER ROOM, STAT!
The part where they predicted who would win the AFC East, and ALL the commentators picked the Jets, except Ditka, who picked the Patriots (kinda). What disrespect! This should fire up Dolphins Nation!!

Posted by: raul soto | October 04, 2010 at 08:24 PM
Why are you guys shocked that the North East media is leaning toward the Northeast teams in their coverage?
It's going to be that way unless and until the Dolphins are clearly the best team in the division. I didn't say one of the good teams, but the BEST. They have to be clearly BETTER to get equal treatment.
It is just how it is.
