Ronnie Brown: Two1K still the goal

Before the regular season began, Ronnie Brown and Ricky Williams openly discussed the idea of gaining 1,000 yards.

Each.

Now, five games into the season, Brown has gained 299 yards on 67 carries. Williams has 240 carries on 56 carries. Brown is on pace for 956 yards. Williams is on pace for 768 yards.

And Brown says the goal is still for both to gain 1,000 yards.

"I mean, why not keep the same goal?" he told me today. "We're five games in. We've got 11 games left. If I told you you want to get 20 interviews by the end of the month and you're at two interviews, you may give up. But for us, last week was a growth and we had a better chance to make some plays and we both got the opportunity to get the football a litle more.

"There's going to be a game we're going to have a breakout game as far as rushing. At the same time, we have a lot of guys on the offensive side of the ball that are capable of making plays. I don't think you adjust individually. You still maintain the same type of goals and you have to shoot for them, but at the same time, you have to have the opportunties and there have to be a lot of things in your favor as well."

Brown pointed out that gaining 1,000 yards each was not a prediction he or Williams made. "That was our goal," he said. "It wasn't saying this was going to happen.

The duo will have to do some serious work to get back on track for 1,000-yard seasons if this is the week they're going to do it. The Pittsburgh Steelers, Sunday's opponent at Sun Life Stadium, boasts the No. 1 run defense in the NFL.

"What's that saying?" Brown asked.

I messed with Brown a little and suggested the Steelers were simply imprenetrable (they are not) to see how one of Miami's most competitive players would react. Well, he reacted like a true competitor.

"You probably thought we couldn't beat Green Bay in Green Bay last week, either," he said. "Anybody outside of our locker room probably didn't think that. Our goal is to win the football game. No matter what it takes. And as long as each guy realizes that, no matter what it takes, and as long as everyone gives everything he has, I like our chances."

Darryl,
I has a similar conversation the other day about Miami "Spreading it out" on Sunday. I do think they will run, you have to in order to keep some of the D-backs occupied if only for a few seconds.
I believe this game can be won... Miami just saw this same team 10 months ago... Henning either learned something and has a plan. Or he will come out being predictable and run into a very fired up defense.
Hilliard out of the backfield would be an interesting wrinkle... Brown has disappointed lately in rout running. Like I said... Miami needs to take what they leaned about this team in January and use it. They ARE NOT the same team that Pitt. Saw, different players and different scheme...Pitt is the same all around.

SERJIO.. i saw that on little blog and they say that his injury is hidden by front office and he went to green bay to kill the rumors ,

Ronnie Brown's problem is that he's not getting 20+ carries a game like all the other top backs.

i just read that JARED ODRICK WILL NEED the rest of the season to recover since he didn't make any progress in his injury .

also it says that HE FIGURED IS BETTER TO JOIN THE INJURY LIST IN NEXT 48 HOURS .

P.S ...FIRST DRAFT PICK

I respect Ronnie, I even like Ronnie's heart and attitude....In my eyes Ronnie will always be a FIN to me, even if he goes to the hated jets.

I believe the only way Ronnie stays on this team is if we win a SB...other than that its "thanks for your service"

I almsost never deal in absolutes but I think its safe to say that RB will not be in our backfield next year.

So this year he needs to go all out to get the contract he feels he deserves from another team....The time is now Ronnie Brown...The time is now.

JOIN THE INJURED RESERV

Ronnie Fan,

Ronnie Brown can't handle 20 + carries a a game....His history has shown that...time and time again.

NO DISCUSSION IS COMPELETE UNTIL WE HEAR FROM CROWDER ;;;;;

SUPJECT ........HELMET TO HELMET HITS......

(( they can complain, they can suspend and they can do whatever they want but can't stop AMN FROM PLAYING FOOTBALL THE WAY HE PLAYED SINCE HIGH SCHOOL , IN FACT IF YOU LOOK AT JAMES HARRISON IN HIGH OR MIGGLE SCHOOL,I PET HE WAS HITTING PEOPLE JUST AS HARD BACK THEN ))

THEN HE SAID THIS (( IF THEY KEEP MAKING US GO MORE AND MORE LIKE FEMININE SPORT,WE ARE GOING TO WEAR PINK EVERY DAY NOT JUST ON THE BREAST CANCER MONTH )).......

I will be the first to say I am very happy Ronnie in in Miami. I know that if or when we ever let him get away... I have no doubt he will tag us for 100 or so the first time we see him again.

However...

Ronnie was doing the "Bunny Hop" to the holes on Sunday. That is something I have not seen him do before. I believe that hard running, down hill runners like Brown need to keep their feet on the ground and legs driving North and South with pads low and ball secured with both hands. Ronnie is NOT a slasher anymore, he never had break away speed and he certainly has not got faster. If Ricky stays in Miami another year, Ronnie may not be kept. If Ricky hangs um up... I look to see a High round pick at a Slashing back. Trouble is, the main Back coming out (Mark Ingram, Alabama) will likely be long gone and Miami will have to do some good scout work.

I hope we can get Ronnie signed and keep Ricky for at least one more... But Miami will still need to seek some speed out of the backfield.

STOP A MAN FROM PLAYING FOOTBALL

ACCORDING TO MR CROWDER ON HELMET TO HELMET HITS

THE REMINDER OF HIS QUOTE ........

(( WHEN I DROP BACK IN COVERAGE AND I SEE A RECEIVER RUNNING A CROSSING ROUTE AND I AM ABOUT TO BREAK ON HIM AND HIT HIM I AM NOT GOING TO THINK ABOUT,WELL LET ME TURN MY SHOULDER OR LET ME AIM AT HIS TORSO . I AM JUST LOOKING TO KNOCK THE OUTOF HIM )). COWDER SAID ..II SO THEY CAN'T CHANGE THE GAME , BUT IF THEY WANT CHANGE THE GAME ,LET' TAKE OUR MASKS OFF.))

2 NEWS ITEM........

ODRICK IS OUT FOR THE SEASON,INJURED RESERV SOON.

CROWDER MAKE FUN OF BREST CANCER PINK MONTH ON HELMET TO HELMET HITS .

crowder once again showing why he will be cut or traded before the start of next season...

just when i was starting to not hate the guy.

Message to crowder....the play of dobbins and carpenter made 90% of the FIN fans want you on the field....its not that your the best at your craft...it was just plain to see you were the best available on our roster.

shut up and play football....arn't u smart enough to know that is exactly the quote the journalist are looking for.....no wonder Zack and Dansby have ti hold your hand for you to achieve below average linebacker status.

one last thing....do u think James Harrison gies a F about you....why don't you try sucking uo to your own teammates and staff

I CAN SAY GUYS THAT CROWDER IGNITED THE BLOGS ON FIRE WITH THIS COMMENT OF HIS ON CANCER MONTH .

Maybe that can be the nest "Civil Rights" issue ...

"You can stop a man from Playin' Football"

All that statement needs is Al Sharpton pointing his finger at the camera and shouting that anyone who is trying to..."Stop a man from playing Football"... is a racist and a Right Wing Hate Monger.....

ONE OLD STATMENT COWDER MADE FEW YEARS BACK /////

(( I DIDN'T REALIZED THEAT PEOPLE IN ENGLAND SPOKE ENGLISH ))

P.S.....THAT QOUTE OF THE CANCER MONTH WAS WRITTEN AS BEST QUOTE EVER BY MR ,,,,,,,CROWDER .

Wonderful.

ODRICK may have Chronic OSTEOPOROSIS.

Not Good.

derick4dolphins,

9 times out of 10 you have excellent football post. FOOTBALL being the operative word.

lets leave the civil rights and other politics out of it. the herald as many fine blogs where those comments might be better served.

lets just call it like it is. crowder made an idiotic statement. the operative word being CROWDER.

look forward to more of your football post

WHY NOT US!!!!!!!

Every team is beatable, the Steelers too. I’d love to see this team get a 14 point lead sometime. It seems an emerging strength for this team is Wake and the young talent at CB on obvious passing downs.
The key will be passing on 1st down. Pass the ball until the Steelers unload the box. If they do then run the ball. When the Steelers start to play the pass, mix in draw plays. Attack the middle of the field with Fasano, Bess and running the ball. Play tough. Then with play action or by moving the pocket take shots downfield. Deep routs to Hartline or BM have to be attempted.
By refusing to attack a team deep down field Henning simplifies the challenge for opposing defenses. Opponents do not fear the Dolphin passing attack. Teams gear toward the run and the Dolphins frequently face 3rd down. This year Henning has just begun to pass the ball and trust Henne or whatever. If the Dolphins are going to compete with good teams and score they have to be able to set up 4 wide, protect and attack. Henning is stunting the development of Henne.

GOOD POST kris /let's leave politics out .it makes us fight each other for no thing .

Let's see if anyone on the Herald has any info on what is being now reported elsewhere as Odrick breaking his leg in practice(or whenever)and being out for the season.

thanks ALOCO....and i still think derick is one of the best we got on this blog....

WHY NOT US

ODRICK SUFFERED A BRKEN LEG ON TODAY WHEN HE TRIED RUNNING TO RETURN TO THE FIELED ,HE'S OUT FOR THE SEASON ,IT'S UNKOWN IF IT'S THE SAME LEG OR THE OTHER ONE .

Mr. Shula, I was shocked to hear your statement(if it's true) that you must have been a great Coach with the talent given(referring to Bob Griese). I read that one time when you changed the play and did not work, Unitas approached you and said, - Do not interrupt my play calling. Right? Griese was a great play caller(IQ > 120). Right?

A BROKEN

THE STORY SAYS .... ODRICK FELL WHEN HE TRIED HOPPING BACK TO THE FIELD AND BROKE HIS LEG .

DyingBreed, what are your thoughts on darryl's plan ?

Posted by: ALoco | October 20, 2010 at 07:19 PM

Ok here is my weekly plea to get Lex Hilliard some playing time. This will get old, but untill Lex gets some more P.T. this will continue. I've stated the case that I think we need to put the ball into Hennes hands to win this game. One formation that Pitt may not be prepared for would be a 4 reciever set. Spread the field on them and use short to medium range passes to counter their blitz package. Where Lex comes into play would be as the single back. This brings draw into the eqaution, as well as getting our best pass blocking running back into the game as a personal protector. This would be a different wrinkle into the offense. Anything to confuse them until they can make adjustments will give us an edge.

Posted by: Darryl Dunphy | October 20, 2010 at 07:14 PM

There's probably a reason why Hilliard isnt a starting nfl back. Even great college backs coming into the league dont excell in the blitz pick up facade of the game. Therefore becoming 2 down backs at best.

I would feel better with Ricky or Ronnie in a 1 back alignment than Hilliard. They are more proven in blitz pick up. Pittsburgh is the entirely wrong defense to began with unproven changes. It could turn into 7pts the other way in the blink of an eye.

Hilliard has yet to show he can be a consistently productive backup. Brown going down last season proved this. Hilliard may have had 2 note worthy carries during that entire 5 game no-Brown stretch and that maybe stretching it.

How the hell are we going to protect Henne? You have to use trickery, magic...Puff

DyingBeed, thanks for that nice post ....; who's the guy who's to benefit from odrick being out for the season ? i know starks going to play defensive end but who else ?

Bummer... I was excited Odrick was back. I'd like to see T McDaniel take over at end with Starks moving back to nose, I think Soliai is only good in spurts as a reserve.

that means that T.MAcdaniel going to make a lot of money since he's playing for odrick .

By the way, cannot remember a wrong sideline decision taken by Coach Shula. On the contrary, in that respect, he surprised us.

Dying Breed, I appreciate your opinion, you always have good stuff to say. but in this case I think your a little off base on your analysis of Lex. At the end of last season Lex was the third down back. He did not even get a touch until the game against Buffalo. What he did do was excel at pass protection, in fact the only play that he got beat was against these steelers, and it was James Harrison(who is going to retire.lol)I wasn't saying that Lex should take carries away from Ronnie or Bong Pipe. I was saying that in this hypothetical 4 reciever set that Lex would be a better option as the lone back because he is the best blocker out of the bunch. Trust me I've paid close attention(maybe to much) to all of Lex's opportunities, and he could help this team as that 3rd down option.

Karlos Dansby said they will be playing Flag Football soon and counting till 5 Mississippi by 2012. If the NFL wants to lise fans, this is the way to do it.

Keys to stopping Pitt Sunday: Misi and Wake must play physical and set the edge and SS must do a good job on H Miller. We match up well everywhere else.

I hope the refs aren't hyper sensitive about enforcing these helmet to helmet rules. What happens is they end up convincing themselves that here was a penalty when the hit was legal. We don't have players with histories of violent hits. What I hope doesn't happen is that one of our guys makes a play, and because the refs are on terror alert red, they throw a flag for something they thought they saw, that was in actuality a clean hit, and it costs us the game. When was the last time a Miami player had a contraversial hit?

Odrick out for season?!!!
F@#!!!!!!

lol

"Anyway, we have similarities to the 1970 team,"

Maybe... but a long, long way to go...

I think the Dolphins of that era were better on the interior O-line... (Little, Langer, Kooch). Currently we have Curly, Larry and Moe manning the GCG spots (I'll give Jerry a pass cause he's a rookie).

The safeties on that team were better too... as was the D-line and LBs...

Oh yeah, the coaching... I'll take Shula and Bill Arnsparger over our "cheerleader in Ray-Bans" and Mike Nolan (who's dad Dick coached in the 70s and wore great suits).

The safeties on the 1970s teams

I've been reading that about Odrick too...

That would be out character, wouldn't it?

No worries. I've been impressed with that Baker #90 at DE... NOT.

"We match up well everywhere else" vs. Pitt

I think Pitt's LBs vs. our OL = duck Chad...

I think our DL + LBs vs. their running game = trouble.

I think Dick LeBeau vs. Henning = issues for aqua/orange.

I hope I'm wrong... but Pitt is more physical and has more and better playmakers.

Remember what happened last time? Bet Henne and Pat White still do. Both were KO'd that day.

Thats nice but ALoco reported the news over 2 hours ago on Odrick.

Wow home , you're a real fu*king loser. now you're talking to yourself as finheaven and heatdolphins#1. wait until the real heatdolphins#1 and finheavenblows find out if they come on here. also aloco and some others have bee talking about odrick being out for the year before you jackazz. go back and read the posts before you. when are you do back on the funny farm , nutso ???

Homenutso. here'e 2 post about odrick being out for the year 1 and 2 hours before you posted your so called breaking news. now take your BS Crap elsewhere , you freak

So answer me this...how the heck did no one research Odrick's already fractured leg before he was drafted? Now look what's happened here...our 28th pick in the first round was a guy that already had a broken leg, excuse me, an existing hairline fracture and he still got drafted high because it was miami's turn to pick! If im not mistaken guys...arent the first and second rounds reserved for immediate starters, studs, playmakers, or game changers...whatever you want to call them??? C'Mon Man! Someone didnt do their homework on Mr. Odrick is my guess...

Home,

Regardless of what some say here you are my hero.

Had you been head of scouting department all mistakes would have been eliminated. No Sean poser boy Smith and you would have given Odrick's tires a thorough kicking exposing the broken wheels on the spot.

I mean what's left? Someone's already turned water to wine, parted the Red Sea, said "let my people go", raised Lazarus from the dead, and said "let there be light".

So my hero Home, what's one to do for an encore? I do have a suggestion. How about creating your own new and improved universe. Must be awfully tough living amongst us mere mortal, wouldnt you agree?

Home's greatest prediction:

"Moses those Payless sandals will not make it all the way accross the Red Sea."

Home's was correct. A split second before setting foot on dry land Moses' support strap on his sandals suddenly snapped.

Home's has been a spearhead in the prophesying business ever since. Long live Home!

Had you been head of scouting department all mistakes would have been eliminated. No Sean poser boy Smith and you would have given Odrick's tires a thorough kicking exposing the broken wheels on the spot.

You want him in charge of the same scouting department that had patrick turner as a all pro wr ??

Marc,

Ho dare you utter blasphemy of Home being wrong. He wasnt wrong. He was in the midst of a omnipotent regeneration of his almighty powers at the time.

In laymens terms his batteries were not thoroughly recharged yet. Its blasphemy to even dream of Home being wrong. Repent now or be vanquished into eternal damnation!

dying breed listen to what TO SAID TODAY RE BEN ROETHISEBERGER......

(( how can a caucasian qb for the steelers who has a rap sheet w /allegation of sexual assault gets 4 game suspension and M.VICK gets a year for dog fighting )) ,

Homey the clown , i have news for you , there's alot more people on here that think you're nuts and an idiot to boot besides NJ and bobbyd12. No , i'm not NJ or bobbyd12 but that's a good guess i suppose, try again azzwipe !

Aloco,

By now its clearly apparent TO's has always been as tall on talent as he was while riding the short yellow bus to school.

Now do you realize why he has always been so comfortable wearing a helmet?

For Sale: Michael Jordan's $430,000 Mercedes McLaren
By Kelly Dwyer

Michael Jordan bought a 2007 Mercedes McLaren SLR 722? That's one of the best cars ever made. Nice move, M.J.

Wait, he's selling it after only driving it 962 miles? Seriously? You give me hope, Michael, and then you take it all away.

So, the McLaren can be yours for $430,000, which is a little dear for that brand even if the wheels were spun for fewer than a thousand miles (considering it cost around $475,000 new). The sellers are clearly factoring in the whole "Michael Jordan owned this car" addition.

DYING, i am galad he said that ,it may affect Ben next sunday vs miami and have few interceptions .as of crowder he's some else .

german made cars are the best w/ceramic breaks .

no way do we run the ball against pittsburgh, this is gonna be a physical field position type game, henne needs to be mistake free in this one for us to have success, and R and R combo needs to hold on to the ball when they do have it. lets hope our d keeps it up and wake can become the freak of beast yet again this week.

Aloco,

I hear Sunday all s-ex enhancement commercials banned beginning with Rosliberger's arrival all the way up to official confirmation of arrival back to Pittsburgh. Plane crashes included!

don't you losers realize that everyone posting about how smart home is are all just home posting under different names? if not, don't encourage the loser! nfl network broke the odrick story hours ago. big whoop.

superPhin,

I believe the biggest part of Steelers #1 rush defense partly due to they really havent played anyone that can efficiently pass on them either. You can not enjoy much success against Steeler type defense being one dimensional either way.

I believe we will have some success because we can do a little bit of both. Our main objective will be to maximize scoring opportunities and be a little more efficient in offensive execution.

No more than 1 pick by Henne. But I do believe he will suffer at least 2 sacks. O-line cant give up anymore and expect successful offensive day. Imperative to win the turnover battle. 0 will be perfect.
