The Dolphins had a terribled third quarter.
They did nothing on offense and the defense yielded a touchdown drive that took part of this decade.
Oh, and Brandon Marshall is out of the game. He's on the sideline in street clothes.
Miami needs three scores to win this one, assuming they don't give up any more points.
It looks bleak but ...
Well, let's see what happens. The live blog rolls on.

austin... its a wrap!

There will be no playoffs for this team. The super bowl for the fins will be the games upcoming against the Jets and Patriots.
Maybe they get healthy, get a new OC, and go win a game.
Posted by: FinsUp | November 18, 2010 at 11:29 PM
Nice to see dolphin fans finally come out of denial. Under this regime we are only a player or two better than the Buffalo Bills. We may even lose the rematch against them.
Posted by: DyingBreed | November 18, 2010 at 11:29 PM
thigpen is the guy who throws the high passes! See last years Pitt game, his 1st throw last week, and tonight(Bess)! if anyone throws em high, it #16!
Posted by: standley23 | November 18, 2010 at 11:29 PM
yep that thigpen...verrrry impressive...IDIOTS
Posted by: djrob | November 18, 2010 at 11:30 PM
miami really should just shut Jake Long down the rest of the season. Why risk a franchise Lefttackle for an 8-8 season. Remember Toni Boselli
Posted by: fin fan buck | November 18, 2010 at 11:30 PM
Finsup, I totally agree he called plays like thigpen was an all pro. He is not made for OC this day and age. Henning needs to go now. In the post game press conference Sparano needs tell everyone of Henning being fired
Posted by: ohio phinfan | November 18, 2010 at 11:30 PM
i agree henning needs to go but how the crap do you blame him for this loss

WHY CHAD.P WAS STANDING ON THE SIDE LINE ?
Posted by: ALoco | November 18, 2010 at 11:30 PM
Season is done guys. That is by FAR our worst performanace of the season. The effort just wasn't there tonight....end of story. I don't want to hear about injuries. That's what the loser teams do. The winners find a way to win. The Colts do it with a bunch of guys nobody has heard about before....and I don't want to hear, 'but yeah they've got Manning'. You still need to find someone to catch the ball, run the routes and carry the ball. They get it done. Same with the Packers. We quit!!
This team will be better next year with a pass-cathing TE, a reliable running back, another solid WR and a decent centre. I don't honestly know what we're going to get for the rest of this season. It looks to me like the team has quit and that's UNACCEPTABLE!!
Posted by: Craig M | November 18, 2010 at 11:30 PM
this team is a joke. the past three years have been a waste why we dont even have the draft to look foward to long and maybe davis r the only two quality picks in three years i am done with this team fin fan for 34 years i had enough. looks like its time to clean house again.
Posted by: angry dave | November 18, 2010 at 11:30 PM
turn out the lights the partys over.I cant believe a lot of so called experts pkd Miami to win. They are brutal. Ss now we will gp 6-10 and maybe get a decent draft pk but I dont think they will let us pk 7 guys at once because thats at least how maNY we need to be a decent team, what a wasted yr.

FIRE EVERYONE, START OVER
Posted by: Earl | November 18, 2010 at 11:31 PM
we saw tonight why Thigpen is a 3rd string!
never gave his team a chance to win
Posted by: 1701972 | November 18, 2010 at 11:31 PM
Henne vindicated.
Posted by: clee | November 18, 2010 at 11:31 PM
fin fan buck ...agreed
Posted by: payuengsnwings | November 18, 2010 at 11:31 PM
Incognito is quite possibly the 5th worst 3rd string non-center I've seen. 75% of shotgun snaps shanked.
Why is anyone surprised
Of course, this team is mediocre. It was mediocre Game One on. Hence, Tuna's exit.I think Sparano/Ireland get one more year.
In retospect, this team PEAKED in 2008 after Henne has proven to unquestionably be a bust.
Posted by: Doug Swift | November 18, 2010 at 11:32 PM
This one isn't on the coaches at all. Do you realize that Miami literally RAN OUT of linemen tonight? Had another guy gone out you'd have seen someone like Fasano or McDaniels playing guard. That's how extraordinarily bad it was.
There is simply nothing you can do in that situation. Wildcat?? Are you kidding me? That set needs TOTAL cohesion to have any chance. Throw deep?? How? There wasn't even close to enough time to set up for the deep throw.
Sometimes there are just no answers. This was one of them.
I'm mad at the team when they CAN do something about things going badly. This wasn't one of those times.

Posted by: txsandman21 | November 18, 2010 at 11:32 PM
pass catching TE next year? did they not just sign Fasano to a new deal
Posted by: qbclub13 | November 18, 2010 at 11:32 PM
Fans deserve their pound of flesh.
FIRE HENNING TOMORROW! Promote LEE to OC. Penne to QB coach.
Don't wait till the end of year. By then his play calling will have flushed this sesason down the toilet!
Posted by: Swamy | November 18, 2010 at 11:32 PM
qclub, I blame Henning because he called ONLY SIX running plays with a THIRD STRING QB at the helm??? What... that kind of play call is not even great for QB like Henne with a rocket arm much less a third stringer.
Posted by: FinsUp | November 18, 2010 at 11:32 PM
HENNE THE HERO.COOL HEAD AND MANGES THE GAME RIGHT ,THIGGY WAS RUNNING A MARTHON TODAY
Posted by: ALoco | November 18, 2010 at 11:33 PM
night guys... it can only get better
Posted by: OtherJamieLuck | November 18, 2010 at 11:33 PM
FinsUp.
Yes, they should have run the ball 30 times, b/c then they would've gotten about 50 yards between the two of them, and the Dolphins STILL would've lost. the Bears had the line stacked for the run, b/c they knew they were facing a 3rd string QB who got one practice between Sunday and tonight.
Make no mistake, Thigpen had a terrible game. But honestly what would any of you had done differently that truly would've put our team in a position to win the game? What are you supposed to do when half your starting lineup is on the sideline broken?
These guys beat a pretty good Titans team; they went on the road and beat GB and Cincy. They have the ability to win games, but kind of hard to plan around as many injuries as they have right now. I'm sure Henning foresaw Marshall injuring his hammy midway through the 3rd QTR.
Will the Dolphins make the playoffs? probably not. But 6-10? No. You don't think they can beat the Bills again? Cleveland played their way out of a win Sunday. I think these guys can still salvage a .500 or better season. But that's showing optimism, which isn't welcome on this board, so I'll leave the bitchfest now.
Posted by: navydolfaninva | November 18, 2010 at 11:33 PM
ACTUALLY ALL OF THESE INJURIES IS EXACTLY WHY IRELAND SHOULD LOSE HIS JOB. aLL OF THE FAULTY AND SUSPECT PERSONEL MOVES ARE NOW FULLY EXPOSED.
FINALLY EXPOSED WE BLEW A 4TH OR 5TH ROUNDER ON THIGPEN. THE LAST 3 SEASONS HAVE BEEN ONE TOTALLY BLOWN PERSONEL MOVE AFTER ANOTHER!!!
Posted by: DyingBreed | November 18, 2010 at 11:33 PM
who ever blames thigpen is crazy, he might not be the answer but he had no chance tonight,

Got it DC.....time for 4 hrs of sleep...THANKS FINS
Posted by: Kris | November 18, 2010 at 11:34 PM
Angry Robot, you're right, but how many times can that be the case? 1-15 year, people went down. 7-9 year, people went down. This year, people going down. Every team deals with injury.
Some coaches, some coordinators, some teams find ways to scheme and grind and win. And some teams just lose. This is one of those teams.
Posted by: DC Dolfan | November 18, 2010 at 11:35 PM
D C Dolfan will E-mail Tony S.on how to win and Miami will finish 11-5

Posted by: payuengsnwings | November 18, 2010 at 11:35 PM
alright where are all you dumba**es who were calling for Henne to be benched?? You still want that? Or has tonight's disaster been sufficient enough to conjure up memories of what it was like having Feeley/Lemon/Griese/Frerotte/Lucas/Green/Beck, and how much better it is to have Henne?
Posted by: Ithaca Phin Fan | November 18, 2010 at 11:35 PM
fins i agree but man they cant run block worth a crap

WORST TEAM IN THE NFL, FIRE ALL OF EM
Posted by: Earl | November 18, 2010 at 11:35 PM
fin fan buck,
All I read were excuses. Good team overcome excuses, bad teams dwell in them. The Colts are 6-3 with WAY more injuries, Greenbay is 6-3 with WAY more injuries, a boat load of excuses they have overcome. Injuries are not the reason we lost tonight, poor coaching, poor play, poor execution, poor preparation were among the many reasons the Dolphins just got embarrassed...again on National TV. So again, good team overcome excuses , bad teams dwell in them. Miami falls under the latter.
Posted by: /Facepalm | November 18, 2010 at 11:35 PM
on this one you almost have to shake your head and giggle! kinda like putting Chad P. in the game last week.

Got that right Face
Posted by: payuengsnwings | November 18, 2010 at 11:36 PM
ever notice how running backs for other team se to fall for 5 yards and our guys are hit in the backfield and struggle to hain 1 yard
Posted by: qbclub13 | November 18, 2010 at 11:36 PM
Craig - Who is going to draft those players? hernandez was available to us and we didn't go for him. We could have had Bryant but we got Dobbins and Odrick instead.
If they keep Sparano (who I believe to be a good guy and a good motivator but in way over his head) then they MUST get rid of Ireland (and Henning, of course). I fear that they all stay, though and another year will be wasted.
Anything short of 9-7 is an utter failure and it will happen.
Unfortunately, Ross will allow these guys to hang around because of the excuse of the injuries.

Sorry, said I wasn't going to post any more tonight.

Can we add Dan Henning to the list of people who don't actually have to show up for work anymore and still get paid by the Miami Dolphins?
I wonder how proud Parcells is of his legacy in Miami?

eddy, thigpen didnt exactly help his cause..
Posted by: 1701972 | November 18, 2010 at 11:38 PM
navy,
You have good points but my issue is they really didn't attempt to run the ball, period.
Where was the wildcat? Henning is hellbent on using it in precarious situations but didn't even call it. Ronnie Brown had three touches on the ball. I think I would have stuck him back there and at least get some touches.
Posted by: FinsUp | November 18, 2010 at 11:38 PM
We had the 12th overall pick, and we completely F^&K it up to get 2 losers in Odrick and Misi, Ireland should be tossed on his ass just for that move.
Posted by: Earl | November 18, 2010 at 11:38 PM
if henne would of played this game we would of won!
Posted by: michael lash | November 18, 2010 at 11:38 PM
You know what irony is? Getting rid of your starting guard and center because they weren't durable. Now with "improvements" you're down to your 3rd string center and second string guard. And Brandon Marshall is starting to reclaim his reputation. First he holds on a first down on our only legit drive. Then he gets taunting on another 1st down. Then he drops two passes. That set the tone and you wonder how a QB with 1 day of practice with first team offense struggled after that. Plus henning didn't do the kid any favors with the play selection. Please retire Dan Henning.

The Ball Boy, Fist Pump, Dinosaur..............3 Yrs & this pile of dreck is what we get?
Ross MUST ACT NOW - - fire the whole sorry lot.
Another Rebuild awaits, again.

Posted by: Woa | November 18, 2010 at 11:39 PM
OK WHERE ARE THE TYLER THIGPEN LOVERS..THERES A REASON THE CHEIFS GOT RID OF HIM..also the biggest flop on the fins this year has been mike nolan ..that defense is awful..when a d can't get off the field on 3rd down ..than they stink,,the corners can't play slants..sean smith is a bad player..randy starks doen't do nothing..langford is all talk,no play..koa MISI IS AVERGE ,..HE'S GOTTEN ENOUGH PT TO SHOW SOMETHING BUT HE STINKS..CHAD HENNE IS A GOOOD QB..BUT WITH BRANDON''DON'T CALL ME RON ARTEST IN HIS EAR TELLING TO THROW HIM THE BALL..THATS WHEN THE INT'S COME..tony sporano needs to go and ireland ..thats why fat parcells left ..they shouln't stay longer..the fans at the stadium are bad..all dead ..no more rixcky and ronnie please ..
Posted by: BLACKCEROTE | November 18, 2010 at 11:39 PM
PROBLEM WITH MOST FANS IS WE ONLY LOOK AN THE ISOLATED INCIDENTS TO MISPLACE THE REAL BLAME. ASK YOURSELVES WHO'S STILL AROUND THATS HAD A HEAVY HAND IN ASSEMBLING THIS FLAWED PERSONEL GROUPING? WHERE DOES THE PATHETIC PLAY CALLING COME FROM?
CHIEF CULPRITS: JEFF IRELAND AND DAN HENNING. I WOULD ONLY INCLUDE SPARANO IF HE HAD AUTHORITY TO VETO HENNING'S CALLS AND DIDNT. HOWEVER I SUSPECT IRELAND HAS STRIPPED HIM OF SUCH POWER.

Posted by: LAPhinsPhan | November 18, 2010 at 11:39 PM
Angry Bot, I agree.
But, with Pennington, Berger and Long with 2 shoulders...maybe. Sparano held his breath on Henne until he was blue. But, Parcells exhaled in August. Offense has no identity and is ultimately a 1980s-hybrid mess. Henning will head back to the links where he was before John Fox brought him out of retirement 10 years ago. Sparano...has one more year.
