The Dolphins had a terribled third quarter.
They did nothing on offense and the defense yielded a touchdown drive that took part of this decade.
Oh, and Brandon Marshall is out of the game. He's on the sideline in street clothes.
Miami needs three scores to win this one, assuming they don't give up any more points.
It looks bleak but ...
Well, let's see what happens. The live blog rolls on.

Phin,
I said the same thing about the end-arounds. Every game a drive killer. This is the NFL you don't run that Sh*t!
Not even a Fist Pump!

darncart: I'm almost there ... I've been a fan since '72 ... I'm just afraid the minute I jump ship Miami will rise from the ashes.
I just don't think Miami will amount to anything in my lifetime.

Beerndrums , Henne always has great pass protection , plenty of time to find a receiver , Thingpen had absolutely no time at all tonight , and if you think Henne would have done any better with that constant bullrush then your a bigger idiot then I thought

Zach,
Actually it was a great time to judge our team. It's times like these when you find out what a team is made of... how well they are coached and how well they can adapt to situations.
Clearly, teams like the Patriots do it much better. I have seen them lose a ton of starters only to see backups and third stringers look even better. That's a pretty good system in place. And, their backups are no-namers too.
No excuses for total 6 running plays called for Ronnie Brown (arguably the best offensive player with Marshall gone) and Ricky combined.
Henning needs to be fired.
Posted by: FinsUp | November 19, 2010 at 12:00 AM
xtremewayz7: I agree Henne would have been KILLED tonight ... no way he'd survive. But I must admit, as a Thigpen cheerleader before the game ... he is definitely NOT the answer. He is what he is, a third string quarterback.
Posted by: zaphod | November 19, 2010 at 12:01 AM
Guys,
It no longer even shocks me when this team plays badly. What really shocks me are the rare occassions we actually play a good game. Time too lose the aqua and orange sun glasses fellows!!!
Posted by: DyingBreed | November 19, 2010 at 12:01 AM
We block for the quarterback. We block for the quartback or people die, its that simple. Are we clear? ARE WE CLEAR?!
Posted by: Angry Elf | November 19, 2010 at 12:02 AM
For the third time this season, this team had embarrassed itself on prime time national tv. I still want to believe, but hope just seems to get further and further away.

Loaves every where

B.B. ... I don't think there are very many people here who would disagree with assessment of the thumping the Bills will give our Phins when they come to town. I actually thought we'd give the Bills their first win. Bottom line is, your Bills have played with a lot of heart this year ... they're definitely better than their record shows ... meanwhile, we're much WORSE than our record shows.
Posted by: zaphod | November 19, 2010 at 12:03 AM
Cant Blame It On Thigpen??? Oh yes we can. He played the exact same way as he played in KC where he was 1 and 9 as a starter. Our defense spent 3/4 od that game on the field. I was hoping Thigpen played NOT awful to give us a chance. Instead he was awful. F Thigpen

So Mr. Ross what are you going to do now? Seriously, what are you going to do since you paid a billion dollar and wrote a lot of paychecks to see this?
Posted by: LAPhinsPhan | November 19, 2010 at 12:04 AM
D C Dolfan, you are so easy to bait, Aloco was right when he called you a moron!
Posted by: Buffalo Bill | November 19, 2010 at 12:05 AM
bobby,
defense was on the field so much cause they couldnt stop 3rd down no matter the distance.
Agree with previous post that said Henne would be in a wheelchair if he was in there.

Posted by: zaphod | November 19, 2010 at 12:08 AM
Hopefully you fans down in Miami will stay away at next home game and then Ross will be forced to bring in a WHOLE new management team and maybe find someone that can find fresh talent.
Posted by: daganj | November 19, 2010 at 12:09 AM
Here's a stat for you to suck on. 13 f%cking running plays called for the ENTIRE game when you have your 3RD string QB starting, 3 each by Williams and Brown. That stat alone calls for the immediate firing on the spot of Henning.
It completely blows my mind how any professional offensive coordinator would seriously only call 13 running plays when your team were facing the circumstances that Miami was tonight. If that doesn't flash warnings signs right in the faces of the executives of this team the undeniable ineptitude of Henning, then this team truly is a lost cause and will continue to be a mediocre team for years and years to come.

You're right Buffalo, checkmate, touche. Your such a savant. I'm so baited. Fumes coming out of my nostrils.
Truth is, you're a joke, everyone on this site worth a damn knows that, yet you think you have "friendlies" here. So, who's the moron?
See, I belong here. I'm a Dolphins fan. I'm commiserating with my fellow fans. See how that works. But what are YOU doing here? That's what you should be thinking about, instead you think about me. You might be the worm, but I'm the early bird, dimwit.
Posted by: DC Dolfan | November 19, 2010 at 12:10 AM
Guys,
Why do you argue who's better Henne or Thigpen? Neither have set fire to the Miami Hilton though there's a much better chance both would be more successful at that. I blame neither Thigpen, Henne, Penny, or anyother supposed slouches on this team.
I blame the one most responsible for bringing them in(Ireland) and Henning for his obvious flawed play calling and personel use now well into his 3rd season as OC. Ireland and Henning is where most of the blame predominantly lies. Not in single players themselves.
Posted by: DyingBreed | November 19, 2010 at 12:10 AM
Actually, this is probably the best game that happened to Henne ... I know at least I will be a little less critical of his OBVIOUS incompetence ... especially in comparison to our available options.
Posted by: zaphod | November 19, 2010 at 12:10 AM
I still think he`s better then Henne , what was up with Marshall dropping easy passes right in his hands, can`t blame the QB for that , the line was non existant, and so was the defense, hard to get on a roll when ur hardly on the field and running for ur life when you do get the ball , can`t possibly evaluate the guy from this game
Posted by: xtremewayz7 | November 19, 2010 at 12:11 AM
Lets see, I was at the game and we scored, let me count ZERO, Thats Zero Points. How many games has Henne played where we scored ZERO points? Kiss my ass all u Thigpen lovers.
Posted by: bobbyd12 | November 19, 2010 at 12:12 AM
This team has the same disease as my MLB team.
NO HEART
NOT enough playmakers
Parcells brought in safe average guys and then OC and DC played safe schemes.
You dont win by NOT making mistakes
You win by making plays and forcing the other guy to make mistakes
This is gonna get ugly this week and i hope the writers go APE on this management team and talent evaluation.
had to LOL that during the game up pop Parcells promo on the "guru" himself...LMFAO
Posted by: daganj | November 19, 2010 at 12:13 AM
DB, because it's going to be a question here for the next 10 days and beyond. Ultimately, you're right, Henning isn't going to lead an exciting and potent offense, he's done. But the season isn't over. There's a bunch more games. The team can't just quit. And someone needs to be QB. Should it be Thigpen, or Henne. It's obvious it should be Henne, but folks will be shouting for Thigpen. In the end, the HC will say Henne gives the team the best "chance" to win. So Henne will be the starter, but that's why people are talking about the QB situation.
Posted by: DC Dolfan | November 19, 2010 at 12:13 AM
bobby get over your Henne hard-on.
if all your interested in that will make you happy then.
HENNE IS THE GREATEST AND THE POOR TALENTED PHENOM WAS DONE WRONG AND WAS JUST about to light the world on fire when unfortunately he got hurt (dam the luck)
there you go, as for me im just interested in progress and hopefully wins.
Posted by: daganj | November 19, 2010 at 12:16 AM
DC Dolfan,
The season may not be over and there's no way we finish 1-15 but you best sure as hell believe we're back to 2007 only slightly better.
Posted by: DyingBreed | November 19, 2010 at 12:16 AM
Oakland next week, Lord, have mercy on Miami!
Posted by: Buffalo Bill | November 19, 2010 at 12:17 AM
Let me correct one thing. Only SEVEN runs the whole game!! 13 if you count 6 scrambles by the qb. We ran SEVEN times people! When we have Ricky and Ronnie and MOST OF ALL we have a new qb since Sunday! What idiot planet does Henning live on? When we run we win! He likes to say we were behind so couldn't run. Well last week we were one point down at halftime and stopped running when we were averaging 9 yards per carry with Ronnie. This game we gave Ronnie the ball 3 times the whole game! Are you kidding??? So Thigpen is supposed to carry the team this game. I have never in 40 years of watching football seen an OC as stupid as this guy. And Sparano has to be an idiot to not fire him this week and lets get this thing moving. Made Pennington the OC and let him call the plays! I guarantee it will be better! We saw last week Penny brought back the Fasano plays and made the offense start to play like last year. Tight end needs to be important to us. Running is important when you have a new qb. I am appalled and Henning and how dumb he is. PLEASE fire him this week! This is two weeks in a row he decided not to run!
Posted by: finfan23 | November 19, 2010 at 12:17 AM
Bobby who likes 12 inches in his mouth , shut up idiot , the guy was running for his life, Henne would have been killed in there
Posted by: xtremewayz7 | November 19, 2010 at 12:18 AM
oh, we cant evaluate the guy? He was 1 and 9 YES 1 and 9 in KC as a starter. We didnt even get close enough for a FG attempt, but he still might be tge guy? I have to get off this blog tonite before the stupidity here lowers my IQ. Thigpen BLOWS Period. A career 3rd stringer, the coaching staffs in both KC and Miami had it right.

guys I have been a dolphin fan for 30 yrs & I have read all the excuses, henning ,henne sparano etc. Lets face it we have not been a football team for 10 years now. We all hope but until they blow this whole organization up were going to suck!!We have drafted poorly we passed on Rivers & brees we took odrick over dez bryant when we needed rcvrs. This team has not made a good decision in anything in a long time!! Joe Robbie is rolling in his grave over these teams for the last 10 yrs!!
Posted by: marino13 | November 19, 2010 at 12:19 AM
Marshall was looking for an out on this game and he got it... hope he gets skewered cause im not buying it after his unbelievable half ass effort.
not saying hes to blame but he didnt even give a good effort and i dont care if i see him the rest of the season.
Phins are weak minded and folded in this game.
and no Sparano telling me, "we just need to improve somethings" isnt good enough anymore

Talent around the league is all the same mostly....It's the play calling and the coaching that makes the difference. There is also no leadership by these Dolphins players, no sense of urgency, no nothing.
This team is not smart. They are gifted but just not smart- the coaching just do not know how to put players in the right place to be successful.
I'm tired of this, just feels hopeless. I think Dolfans are just numb by the embarassments. It's just hard to be a Dolphins fan.
Posted by: Fins1 | November 19, 2010 at 12:23 AM
Thigpen had same problem as Pat White in the pocket. He cant see over d-linemen and gets balls batted down. Bears started using a linebacker to spy him on the edges. That sort of eliminated the effectiveness of his runs.
Also nearly everytime Thigpen was sacked he was in the pocket. He cant see over the linemen to even throw it away.
After halftime the Bears started using thier outside rushers to not just go after the sack but to hem him in to allow the middle pressur to get the sacks. That kept Thigpen from scrambling to outside.
Guy DC have gameplanned for qb's like Thigpen before. His height(6'0) places him at a huge disadvantage inside the pocket. So Bears adjusted the pass rush with the outside rushers to keep him from scrambling outside. It almost always ended in a sack, pick, pass batted down, or incompleteion.

We have put up w wannstat saban cam the moron. We have watched good players get passed in the draft we have watched fist pumps out our ass & we still cant field a team that can compete in AFC East! I agree w/ fins1 its has been very hard not to burn my dolphin jersey hat etc!!!

Posted by: victor barney | November 19, 2010 at 07:21 AM
its apparent that the players have lost faith in this coaching staffs ability to do its job. sporano an "o line expert" completely destroyed its chemistry, henning is a horrible OC, the only real improvemvent has been Mike nolan, dont get me wrong the D isnt great. but tough for a D to play well when the O cant get a first down. i know there are injuries but this team looks lost. and the GM makes roster changes like a bipolar whose out of meds. more then likel;y this is goign to get really ugly. we need to get rid of henning for sure. this guy is awful. sporano, though he seems to do his best and the players like him, just isnt the disciplinarian this team needs. hate to say ti but need to bring in new head coah an GM. Cowher anyone?
