Good news! Center expected back for Oakland

After starter Joe Berger missed Thursday night's game and backup Cory Procter left the game with a knee injury, the Dolphins might on the surface seem to be dealing with something of a crisis at the center position today.

Relax. They are not.

Berger, who started Miami's first nine games of the season after beating out Jake Grove for the spot, is expected to return to the lineup against Oakland when the Dolphins visit the Black Hole Nov. 28. It's not so much that Berger is expected to recover in time from the knee injury the team listed for him in declaring him out last week, although that apparently should be the case.

It's that, according to a club source, the "personal issue" that Berger is attending to should be sufficiently resolved by the week of the Oakland game.

The source declined to specify what issue Berger is dealing with but it seems clear that it as much as the knee is the reason the player missed Thursday's game. And again, the club expects the issue to be handled when Berger, who has been away from the team for a time, returns to work.

So the Dolphins don't necessarily need to go shopping for a starting center. They don't have to worry about continuing to play left guard Richie Incognito at the center position as he did much of Thursday night.

The team should be fine once Berger handles his business.

BigTrav...i wonder the same thing bro

Now, for the Offence: J. Long, B. Marshall(sometimes)-excellent. Bess-good. Hartline-fair. And- but, and- listen you, and....

why is trading up in a draft a bad thing? are they sayin that the 2nd rnd pick that was wasted on Pat. couldn't have been used better to move up in the draft. c'mon man. they were taking a chance on Pat. how did that work out? it's a much better chance going for an elite QB.

SONOFAB!CH! Parcells wants to run another team. We got screwed!

Posted by: LAPhinsPhan | November 19, 2010 at 12:57 PM

No LAPhinsPhan,

It only means the next Parcells next team will become the latest to be screwed!!!

"Get me back out there," Parcells says near the end of the NFL Films-produced Bill Parcells: Reflections on a Life in Football, which debuts Friday night on NFL Network at 8 p.m. "I can do this one more time. That's how I feel."

In layman's term this means:

"If there are teams out there willing to pay me huge sums of money to get f'cked over. Why not!"

I'm sure you're reading that most want Henning accountable and/or fired! Agreed.

After reading all posts here... it's pretty evident that the firing of Henning is the most common consensus but none of your posts elaborate on that.

Does anyone actually read the long-winded paragraphs?

I don't

Marshall Faulk got right ot the heart of the matter after the game last night. He said, " nobody on the Dolphin's offensive line can put their hand in the dirt and move a defensive player off the line of scrimage". That's really all there is to say. Everything else is a by-product of that simple fact, and he's dead on! You have to win up front in the NFL and this team simply can't on the offensive side.

Funny that there's "Good news" in ANY part of this team, much less a title for an article

Speak for yourself buddy. Not everyone here has the short attention span of a gnat or intelligence level of a gnaw.

Thanks caphin....I needed that....I was just asking for somebody to post something funny and you delivered...thanks

I haven't read something that comical in a long time.

Got any more caPTAIN OBVIOUS? Or do you prefer Mr. Hindsight?

Marshall would be producing better if we had better supporting people around him period. You can say what you want about him, but he is good, we just dont have the O line, legit number 2 WR, QB, ect..for anyone like him or him to produce.

And the FO down to the coach is responsible for doing this...they have failed!

I just don't care to read novels.

CONCISE...It's one of the 4 C's of writing.

Also, know your audience...

Just saying

Don't go throwing insults DB...We all know that you believe there's subterfuge in the front office, LOL

The only reason we as fans would continue to root/watch Dolphin football is to see another injury. Because they MAY get another win somewhere down the line and that's about it.

The problem with the fins is simply that we don't draft quality players we take has-beens waived by other teams and expect success. IRELAND/SPARANO... hello... wake up and draft the best college QB. DUH! Things can't possibly get worse!

The Miami Dolphins don't give us fans anything to be proud of... it sucks! Buffalo has more heart and fire...Yes, I agree with that post.

Ok ill play along Loco... so how do you know?

Mark, you need to get on the ball dude. We need 10 more Cameron Wakes (or at least 5-6). Can you scour the CFL and find us some more superstars? Thanks bud.

At least we didn't struggle in the red zone.

So, in the stuper of depression, I didn't keep the closest eye on Reshad. Can anyone enlighten me as to how he did? From what I saw he had some good plays, but did he miss anything?

Maybe we can draft the RB combo of Terrance and Phillip out of the CFL...

Most of the time ineptitude supersedes conspiracy.

Anyone how is still calling for Hennings head or Henn need to STFU a learn about the game first. You're lack of knowlege and whiny attitude is getting old.

The Fins need to trade out of the first round, grab the best C and Guard they can, then sign the best available running back, preferably someone with speed. I mean someone like Darren Sproles, a change of pace back. Ronnie is still a good starting running back but they truly lack a home-run threat. Ricky should retire, he really seems to lack 'burst' this year and is not running as hard through contact. With the way things have gone I think he's checked out. When Ricky doesn't trust the coaching staff, he plays without passion. If he cared he could be Earl Campbell. Without passion he is just not a good player.

I hope Miami loses every game now for the rest of the year. It's all about 2011. They are ridiculously short on talent at LB, secondary, O-Line, and still need another WR or two if they cut Marshall like they should. Get that cancer off our team.

That was my best attempt at being coy(lol). I fully understand what you meant. Its only when people refuse too separate paragraphs when I dont even bother attempting to read.

But I empathise and fully understand where they are coming from because this what multiple concussions can do to a brain.

The Kid has potential.

Then, why do you read us, mr. bean73883?

mr. bean, just trying to understand your point. Are you saying Henning is doing a terrific job? I guys that's why the guy is retiring after the season, to keep him from being fired from his second OC position.

DC, I don't watch much CFL football (make that any) but I was listening to sports talk radio the other day and they were saying Wake was the best player in teh CFL in the last 20 years - I think the well is dry. The Argonauts do have an excellent kick returner and a RB named Cory Boyd that are apparently doing very well.

See, in Internet you have to be careful how you express yourself for People have time to "pick" on you.

sorry, I guess, that's what I meant.

Sounds like Mr. Bean is looking for a Jack in hopes of someday becoming a beanstalk.

MrBean...suck a sausage...YOU do not knkw what you are talking about. Also hey Tom Law...cut Marshall?? You just tied MrBean for the flushy award today. You both should camp out in a tent together and see what materializes..

mr. bean, when a cornerback (and mind you, USUALLY these football players aren't Harvard grads) can watch 1 week of film and crack the code to your vanilla offense, so much so that he looked like plastic wrap over Marshall last week, that usually means the OC's head is up his arse.

But what do I know? You're the Lombardi of the group.

DC Dolphin,

Wake, and Warren Moon are once in 20yr CFL annomollies. More often than not, CFL players that cant even make NFL practice squads.

That beanstalk is longer than my son's.

Oh, by the way mr. bean, Lombardi was the Coach of the Green Bay Packers, in case you didn't know that.

DB, Mark Dixon might disagree with you. he was a very good Dolphin after starring for teh Montreal Alouettes. his career was just cut short by injury.

DB/Mark, it's just that the Dolphins were HORRIBLE at spotting American talent the last 2 decades, maybe they'd have more luck in international waters.

DC, wake up dude. Cracking code, what a joke. You buy into that? How come they lost that game then? Bottom line, regardless of the game plan, you still have to outplay the other team. Should beat them even if they know what play is coming. It's called being better than the other team.

CFL players are usually whats left over after the NFL finalizes its practice squad list. Very rarely(every 20yrs or so) a Warren Moon or Cameron Wake slips thru the cracks.

The problem with the fins is simply that we don't draft quality players we take has-beens waived by other teams and expect success.

I've got a theory about that. Parcells thought he was smarter than anyone else. He thought he could take a failed player and coach him up. Because no doubt, they weren't getting the training he could provide.

Parcells maybe gone but he's still haunting us. Ross, do what you got to do.

Well!, Joe Theismann went trough there. Now he is an "announcer".

Grandma, then why be so secretive? Sparano should just open it up, doesn't need to hide anything. And, your hypothesis has been tested, it's called the Miami Dolphins of '00-'10, when offense was basically an open book, and guess what, they weren't better than the other teams.

So, time for a new plan, huh Grandma? Let's try having a dynamic offense (like the ones that win more games then they lose). I know it's a far out theory, I'm just guessing it'll work better.

Aloco... I hope you're right. I have been saying since very early in the season that Dan Henning will cost us games this year.

I know the O-line didn't play well and Sparano has to take some blame for letting guys like Thomas and Grove go - depth is important.

But the thing that kills me is Dan "Moronosaurus" Henning's persistence in sticking to the same boring, predictable offense no matter which QB we have under center. He even admitted that he wouldn't change anything when Pennington was named starter. Dude, each QB is different and does different things better than the other guy. I am not an expert and I know that. What gameplan did he have last night??? 7 Rushing attempts?? Really?? You want to try and make out 3rd-string QB win the game for us??? WHAT A JOKE!

DC Dolphin,

Just my point. Ok, I have no problem adding Dixon to the list. But as you see its still a very short list. There's a better chance of picking up a serviceble practice squader than finding a CFL gem. NFL 3rd stringers could be superstar players in the CFL.

Trust me DB, I understand. It was really just a joke to Mark 'cause he's in Toronto. I don't really think the CFL has a wealth of talent that's transferable to the NFL.

That's like thinking Dan Henning is a great Offensive Coordinator (based on his last 2 assignments). NO ONE could think that.....oh, wait, there's still people on here pushing that garbage, sorry.

DC - you confirmed what I said really. They weren't better, exactly, that is why no game plan could save them. Worst decade of drafting in NFL history. For any given game, the opposing teams have seen 80% of what the other team is doing. You don't think they know when Polite is going up the middle? Then know its coming and still can't stop him. That is being better.

LOL@ DC Dolfan!

Mark in Toronto,

Being from Canada also, I don't watch the CFL either. I was watching a buch of the players getting interviewed for the Args vs Als game this Sunday the other day and I have to be honest I knew none of them or nothing about any of them. To be honest I knew very little about Wake either and he was defensive player of the year two years in a row.

Boyd would be interesting with the 'Phins. Can't see him contributing much on offence but I could see him contributing on special teams. I saw Carroll run the open kick back last night and I couldn't believe my eyes. I thought 'this is going to be our night'. How wrong I was !

I tell you one thing guys, if you want to find a blindingly fast kick returner - look at the CFL - this league is full of them. But you guys are right - most players' skills do not transfer to the NFL because the CFL guys are just small.

Stefan Logan from the Lions is a CFL product.

Jeff Garcia was too.

Say, did anyone see the halftime show on the ESPN college game last night? Doctor Lou had a most special guest on. It was our own prima donna, Mr Dropsie Brandon Marshall. Sparano should make Marshall watch himself all day long. What a hypocrite. If Marshall dosen't smarten up, he should be let go. We do not need his type on this team.
Armando, if you can, maybe you should post the video of Marshall with Doctor Lou.

DC Dolphin,

Part of Jeff Ireland's problem seems to be he spends to much time trying to take mediocre talent and delusionally think they can make it great. Ireland's fast proving he is to talent evaluation what Dan Henning is to play calling.

They both seem to have the gift of in attempt to outsmart everyone else outsmart only themselves. Sparano's like the balogna in between 2 moldy slices of bread.

Grandma, Polite was perfect last year in 3rd/4th and 1 or 2. How's he doing this year? Guess what? Not perfect! So what do you think that means? It means people know what he's doing, and stopping him.

Do me a favor Grandma, go watch a Pats game. You know why Vrabel has the most TDs of any LB in the league? Because NE wins by being sneaky and confusion and surprise. And they've won SuperBowls (I mean after 1972). So who's theory is more accurate?

Aha, I know what our problem might be. It's that we have too many Canadian fans. Mark, Craig, what's going on here.

I stop watching CFL football as soon as Warren Moon left the CFL. Only reason I began watching then is Moon and the Emonton Eskimos had won thier 4th straight Grey Cup. My interest really peaked as I watched as they won thier 5th and 6th Grey Cup.

To dominate any league for 6 straight seasons is an accomplishment. Still even Moon would never win a NFL title. But was a somewhere between a top 10, top 5 at best NFL qb.

Oh yeaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaahhhhhhhhhhhh

The team will be "fine" with Berger at C. WTF are you smoking? How about:

Just as long as their OC calls more than SEVEN running plays.

Just as long as Ricky & Ronnie combine for more than 11 yards on the ground.

Just as long as their douche bag diva receiver doesn't take stupid penalties and drop balls.

Just as long as Sean Smith, the latest in the Trifecta draft busts, doesn't drop interceptions.

Just as long as they find another qb even though they have went through 16 starters since 2000.

Just as long as the team actually shows up and cares a little about, you know, whether they win or lose.

Just as long as their (not so) Special Teams don't have one of their bi weekly implosions.

Just as long as Jake Long is able to keep playing.

Just as long as another one of Ireland's reject draft picks doesn't go up in flames before our very eyes.

Just as long as Clamming Chowder decides to play just one game at the same level he runs his fat useless yap at.

Why does anyone bother with this team?

Maybe you're right. Maybe we need to take our act over to the Pats or Jets.....maybe cause them to stumble....

Dying Breed,

I would have loved to have seen Moon playing in the NFL in his prime. I am sure he could have taken some team to an NFL championship. Those Eskimo teams he played on were fun to watch. Doug Flutie too. He was great in BC, Calgary and Toronto. Fans of the NFL only got to see a very small glimpse of a very talented player and a great leader. It's amazing someone coouldn't have found a way for him to succeed earlier in the NFL, when I think of all the stiffs I've watched play over the years.

Dolfans dont hold your breath. As it now stands I dont expect to see another playoff appearance until 2025. Any appearance before then will only be an early morning piss hard.
