Miami Dolphins defeat Raiders, 33-17

OAKLAND -- The haters will have to wait another day.

The Dolphins season, on the brink, survives today because the Miami got great efforts all around in this 33-17 victory over Oakland.

They got a great effort from Chad Henne, who threw for over 307 yards with two touchdowns and one interception.

They got a great effort from the wide receiver corps that didn't seem to notice Brandon Marshall was missing. Davone Bess had 111 yards receiving on six receptions. Rookie Marlon Moore caught a 57-yard touchdown pass.

They definitely got good work from the defense. Miami had three turnovers. And the Raiders running game was absent today because Miami erased it.

It was a solid victory. The Dolphins are 6-5.

Onward.

ummmmmm, they were signed.

beerphin Fasano & Bess both have nice contract extension just recently introduced to them

Am going to get custom Jersey made that says
"Simply The Bess"

gave him that nickname in his rookie year after watching him daily in camp

Was cool
Son & I were watching local South Florida Miami Dolphin highlights on tv a couple weeks ago and

low & behold

caption says, "Simply The Bess" and highlights #15

my son thought that was real cool, cuz he knows the origin of the nickname behind Bess

Truly Think # 19 is a ted ginn jinx number

Would get rid of it ASAP if I was B-Marsh

Maybe we can start online campaign for Marshall to dump the WR # 19 & memories that go with WR #19

regardless of hennes performance this week, please draft a qb in th first rpund this year

TO ALL OF YOU CONGRAT IN THE WIN A "W' IS A "W" ANY DAY ANY TIME. BUT IF YOU REMEMBER MY LAST COMMENT, I (WHEN THE TIME COME) WOULD TRADE BRANDON MARSHALL FOR AT LEAST ONE SECOND ROUND THAT WE DON'T HAVE, AND TRADE THE OTHER BUNCH: RONNIE, CHANNING, VERNON, FASANO AND THIGHPEN FOR A NUMBER ONE OR A NUMBER TWO DRAFT PICK. TO GET A NEW Q.B. A NEW RB AND A NEW FAST RECEIVER. IF WE KEEP DOBBINS WHO NEED CHANNING??

MANOTOLETE

Can someone please tell me what dramtically inflated and uniformed football topic I'm supposed to be VERY IRATE about today (along with absurdly overstating my actual football knowledge?)

Thanks.

SOME PEOPLE JUST CAN'D DO THE HEAD COACH JOB LIKE JOSH MACDANIEL ,HE WAS THE OC FOR PATS FOR 2 YEARS ,

THE FIRST YEAR PATS WERE 17-1 W/BRADY
THE SECOND YEAR THEY WERE 11-5 W/ MATT CASELL .

HE WILL BE AMAZING OC FOR MIAMI .JUST PUT IN THAT DARK ROOM WHERE DAN HENNING SITS .

Let me respond to Utdolphan, and Oregon Dolphin fan. - I don't think that because we got conservative means we are mediocre. My point is that every game is different. We were clearly in control of yesterdays game. There was no sense in trying anything crazy. I applaud the coaches for recognizing that establishing the run gives our team the best chance to win. You have to recognize that our defense was playing great, after the opening kickoff our ST's locked down as well. So keep pounding it, and ask Henne only to make a few throws instead of putting the whole offense on his shoulders. Is it coincidence that Henne had his best passing day on a day when we commited to the run? This wasn't conservative as much as it was just smart. I don't know what people want. Do you think that we are going to rip off 6-7 yrd runs every play? or that Henne is going to sit back and pick opponents apart? The way we played offense yeserday by getting everyone involved, and not getting away from the run is the recipe for more wins(IMO)

marshall stands to lose 1000’s in incentives due to hennes ineptness. you’d be pissed off too if you had a bum like henne throwing to you.lol.

TO BE OR NOT TO BE

1- IT'S NICE TO SEE THE MELT DOWN IN OAKLAND WHICH ENDED THEIR SEASON IN MISERY .

2- THE MESS IN DENVER IS GOING TO RESULT FIRING JOSH MACDANEL .

3-THE DOLPHINS SHOULD NOT MAKE ANY CHANGES RE THEIR ROSTER BUT ADD A NEW QB TO THE TEAM .

ALoco
Home is good with McDaniels for Dolphin OC
Remember his contest with the Patriots
McDaniels beat Belicheat

Would like Tebow in the deal for Wildcat Spread Offense QB

Dolphins now need more options at QB

DD, if every game is different, how come Miami plays every single game the same? You know...keep it close & try to steal a win in the 4th quarter? The ONLY time we didn't play that way was @ the mid way stage against the Ravens & Bears. In those games we gave up on the run essentially because we had to being behind.

In EVERY SINGLE GAME, we have either lost a close game or won a close game. It took 11 games into the season before we had a comfortable win where fans weren't biting their nails.

This is a philosphical, 80's Parcells approach to football. We are bigger & tougher & we'll outlast them. Yesterday's game was no different. It just turns out Oakland played horribly and the plan worked better than anticipated.

I was also irritated when we went into our patented run run pass punt phase of the game in the 3rd. Sparano needs to play more agressive even if we're ahead. He's just not aggressive and that's why he cant be better than mediocre.

Odin, likes penis 8---->
hacked by kiiirsty :)

parcells is an over rated blow hard.

I wish Ernest Borgnine was rubbing coconut oil onto my back...aaalll the way down to my Speedos.

@ DD,

to echo Joe Schmoe,

If the approach yesterday was any different than what Sparano and company does every game then I could agree with you.

But it is not. The Sparano way is to play for FG's, hope the D plays perfect and squeek out a win in the 4th quarter.

I just do not like the apporach and I believe the apporach is a recipe for failure. IMO. You can like it and that's fine.

I don't like the Sparano way. I was a good fan and hoped for the best from him three years ago. Three years ago I hated the Henning play calling but I contunied to hope for the best.

As for today, I have seen enough. Sparano is a clown and his approach leads only to mediocrity. Bring on someone with the balls to have a modern passing offense.

You have to knock the top off the opposing D at sometime during a game.

Schmoe- What would you have like to have seen? What should they have done different? That's all I want to know.

STABILITY IS GOOD,VERY GOOD AS DC TOLD US YESTERDAY /LET'S COME BACK NEXT YEAR W/SAME PLAYERS AND JOSH MACDANIEL AS OUR OC EVEN IF WE HAVE TO GET READY OF NOLAN .

CAMERON WAKE IS THE SECOND LEADER ON SACKE SO FAR THIS YEAR .

HOME, DENVER WILL NEVER PART W/TEBOW UNTIL IT BECOMES CLEAR HE'S A BUST ,I WISH HE'S .WHY WE HAVE ALL THE BUSTS .

REX RAYN ON TOM BRADY (( ME AND TOM BRADY BESIDE WE LOOK A LIKE ,WE BOTH MARRIED TO A SUPER MODEL,HELO )).

Sucks there isnt a new blog topic up yet. Between this blod and the radio show Armando's showing very poor multi-task skills.

Step up your game Armando, at least for one game the Dolphins have.

We are favored against the browns 4.5 points. Usually when we are favored, playing at home and sparano gives the team monday and tuesday off we lose. I'm betting we'll come out flat and we'll lose. The only one to blame is sparano for doing a "heck of a job"

The fins are like a box of chocolate, You never know what you'll get......

Has anyone seen or heard from Mando today?

DB ,

ARMANDO HAS A LIFE TO LIVE AND ENJOY NOT LIKE US ,NO FAMILY,NO FRIENDS,NO FOOD,NO BRIDE AND NO MONEY .

Henne has taken steps the last two games as far as his play at qb. But we would be fooling ourselves to think he is ready to put this team on his shoulders. With that said, we had the luxury of being able to establish a run game yesterday, the results speak for themselves. It is ok to punt the ball, especially when your defense is dominating the game. In another situation, where the defense is on it's heels, and it is obvious we cannot stop the opposition, then yes, of course we should be more agressive. Actually agressive is the wrong word, I'm sure if you asked a lineman, yesterday was as aggressive as we have been all year. The right term would be adjusting. I have been hyper critical of this teams inability to adjust to game situations. Yesterday the staff gets an A. We did all the right things to dominate that game. Now next week things may change. But tell me if we rush for 150 yards that we will be in every game. This takes so much pressure of the qb, and gets the defense off the field. It is also about attitude, and belief. So we can wish for blowout victories, and comfy 4th quarters until the tooth fairy comes, but grinding wins are just as satsifiying.

LAST TIME WE HEARD FROM ARMANDO WHEN HE TWEETED 20 HOURS AGO ,I THOUGHT TWEET IS LIKE EVERY 3 MINUTES YOU TWEET ANY CRAP YOU HAVE .

MAY GOD BLESS HENNE THE HERO AND BRING DOOM AND MISERY ON SANCHEZ .

Darryl,

I think both sides of the conversation has merit.

At a certain point and with a "BIG ENOUGH" lead, it's good to pound the ball and burn the clock.

The problem with yesterdays game was "more of the same old same old". I myself not only predicted it, but could see it coming from a mile away.

Henning started playcalling like he had a two or three score lead when we were only up by six(early third). This is the point where my philosophical opinion differs. Pedal to the metal time, go for the jugular. Even the TD to Moore was a short out that he broke.

I don't want to sound like I'm whinning to much, because a win is win. It was a GOOD win, team effort.

The point is, I did see the same old premature conservatism and I think this is what the others are refering to.

PS: Somebody on the live blog was calling it the "prevent offense"-LOL.

MAY GOD BLESS MOORE AND BRING DOOM AND MISERY ON HOLMES .

Looking At Remaing Schedule:

Week 13 Cleveland
Week 14 @New York Jets
Week 15 Buffalo
Week 16 Detroit
Week 17 @New England

That's 3 home games and 2 road games. If this team stays focus and continues to play at Sunday's level(Raiders game) I have very little doubt about winning 5 in row.

MAY GOD BLESS DB AND SPARE US THE MATH LESSON TONIGHT .

Where is Mando????, Home check out this possible abduction, I bet it's either Aliens or the North Koreans........

Darryl Dunphy,

If we win our remaining 5 games Henne has to be team mvp. We cant even begin hoping the to win our remaing 5 games without Henne playing a consistently high level of qbing.

Should we win the remaining 5 games all doubts about Henne as our qbing future should be at least 95% erased. Thigpen will be thoroughly reduced to reading a 3 day old newspaper while taking a dump.

Dying Breed
Did U Bogart the entire joint, yourself

lol 5 in a row

THIGGY WAS NOT A HAPPY GUY ON SUNDAY ,I THINK HE WISHES HENNE ILL .

Cuban,

Didnt you get the memo? Armando is an extraterrestial alien. What did he do abduct himself?

I also suspect him as instigating the fracous between North and South Korea. It's all part of the alien plot to lead us to the end time battle of Armegeddon.

LOL @ Breed, I always assumed that Koreans were E.Ts.....

Anybody check the jail and hospital?

@Home,

"Dying Breed
Did U Bogart the entire joint, yourself?"

Why do ask, do you need a "hook-up" brother? LOL..........

Odin- What up? I feel differently because even when we were in that 6-9 point zone watching the game I felt confident that we were in control of the game. Sure a big play from them erases this, but the way our defense was playing it was unlikley. Where I disagree about the conservative part was I was psyched to see us try and bully a team. This to me had a complete effect on the whole team. I would have had a problem with this is if it didn't look like we could stop them, or even if they did get lucky and break a big play. That we couldn't match them because they were so worn out from the beatdown they recieved up front. Also, let them beat us, don't gift them something. Henne played great yesterday, but he is still not immune to making a big goof. Don't put that on him when it is not neccesssary.Imagine the uproar today if he would have thrown a pick six in the third quarter?

THIS IS NOT DB , DB THAT I KNOW HE'S REALISTIC AND NOT HAPPY 5-0 GUY .

Prevent offense is the good description.

What could have been done differently is to have at least attempted a deep pass play. The lack of any vertical component to the offense simplifies everything for the opposing D.

Another is to have some kind of screen plays in the offense. The Raiders were pinning their ears back and bringing the house until Moore broke the short route into a TD.

Another thing would be to mix in some hurry up offense. Atlanta and many other teams play with a hurry up offense and it places the D on their heals and limits substitutions.

Really there are so many aspects that the Dolphins do not bring to the table. That goes directly to coaching. Sparano is unable or unwilling to bring a modern passing game to the Dolphins. The team will remain limited until that changes.

Last I heard Armando and his fellow alien brother Dennis Rodman were up on the lunar surface snorting comet dust. Its far superior to the household cleaner brand you'll find at your local supermarket!

They're both laughing at angel winged space fairies about now.....

@ALoco,

"THIS IS NOT DB , DB THAT I KNOW HE'S REALISTIC AND NOT HAPPY 5-0 GUY."

I realize that the koolaid maybe poison, but boy is it sweet after watching the game yesterday. LOL...

DB- I think that Wake deserves this nod, but I get your point. Henne deserves a ton of kudos for the way he has played the last 2 games. I was one that supported his benching. I don't know if this had any effect on his recent play or not, but he has been better. I would proceed with some caution. I don't think he is ready to chuck it 40 times a game without the help of some sort of running game. This to me is a recipe for disaster, and not fair to Henne.

Even if Henne comes out and lays and egg, he still just had an awesome learning experience career wise.

Looking at the big picture, Henne just got benched for the first time since high school.

He comes in off the bench, after getting "garbage" snaps all week in practice and lights it up.

Misses his first start due to injury.

Then bounces right back for arguably his best performance as a Pro.

All milestones!

Speed bumps and growing pains suck most of the time, but every once in awhile, they ROCK!

Darryl Dunphy,

If we win the final 5 games straight Henne will have to be playing great ball. Wake would be my defensive mvp but 5 straight and make the playoffs I would have to give to Henne just for not screwing it up. LOL...

odin, not too many people look at the big picture which you were looking at it for last 12 years .

why dband darryl putting all the pressure on henne to win the last 5 games ???????

why not ;

marshal
fasano
r.brown
dansby
crowder

at 600,000 you should thank god for henne playing w/injured knee .

Dont be a Bogart, you know the rules "Puff,Puff,Pass".......

The benching could have been the key spark to Henne's revival. He was pretty much handed the starter position by default. Hopefully he found he still has to "EARN" the position with stellar play each and every game.

If he has, guys I believe we have our qb of the future. Still giving him big kudos for playing on the still ailing knee. He could have tanked the rest of the season after the injury.

ALoco,

The only pressure on Henne is to not screw up and allow us to be in a position to win the final games. Of course "EVERYONE" has to chip in and do thier part.

Darryl,

I'll stipulate to one very excellent point you make.

The way the defense was playing, it would definitely effect the way I made play calls.

Still, at the definitive point in the game, I have to go for the jugular.

Valhalla!

Odinseye,

Ricky "vamp" Williams did go straight for the juglar with that late 45yd scamper. Hissss... I want to bite your neck...hisssss...

Odinseye,

Is your screen name pronounced odd-ins-eye or like oh-dins-eye?

Anyway.. Good debate today. See you guys later. Stuck with San Fran in the suicide pool. Not to confident.

odin,

WHY THE DOLPHINS RAN THIER HIGEST YARDAGE WITHOUT MARSHALL ?

DB,

The one quote that stuck in my mind from Henne yesterday was something along the line of:

The NFL doesn't give you anything for free.

Keeping in my mind what he's been through the past month, hearing this statement just struck a chord with me. Perspective and attitude, it's a balancing act.

IT COULD BE THAT HENNE THROWING THE BALL TO SEVEN DIFFERENT GUYS INSTEAD OF FOCUSING ON MARSHALL.THE NEW ENGLAND WAY OF PLAYING OFFENSE .
