It was "reported" Wednesday by the NFL Network's Michael Lombardi that Dolphins Consultant Bill Parcells had spoken to owner Stephen Ross and convinced him to retain coach Tony Sparano.
I am reporting today that Parcells has NOT spoken with Ross and obviously has therefore NOT convinced the owner about anything relative to retaining or firing Sparano.
It is logical to believe that a conversation between Parcells and Ross may happen once the season is over. But the season is not over.
It is logical to believe Parcells might back his proteges Sparano and GM Jeff Ireland. But has that happened yet?
No.

hopefully ross will never listen to parcells opinion on anything. he only cares about his legacy;not the dolphins!

Armando,
Did you mean Parcells spooned with Ross in an atempt to save SpOrano's job?
Would that be against the NFL's personal conduct policy?

BP was NEVER the coach of the Miami Dolphins. He was a GM with training wheels on and two puppets indebted to him for giving them both the opportunity of a life time. Hard to give any of the three a passing grade. BP the GM was no where near as savvy as BP the game day coach. His contribution was therefore negligible.

Dissection of a Play - Miami/Detroit
4th QTR, 10:30 to play, 24-17 Miami, Miami in red zone, 2nd and Goal from the 15yd line (penalty by Long forced team back, 3 straight previous run plays)
1st mistake - Now it's an obvious passing down, defense is set correctly. Why not pass on 1st and maybe catch them off-balance?
2nd mistake - Bess motions across line to left side, hike and from the moment he takes the snap, Henne stares ONLY to the left, pinpointing Bess going up the seam. He doesn't even shrug a look into the other direction (so safeties know which way to shift).
3rd mistake - Henne HAS Bess up the seam. He missed the same pass on an earlier play. Throw it in the running path of the receiver, and he'll catch it and block out the defender with his body (done all the time in the NFL, just not by Henne).
4th mistake - Defender is trailing Bess, but covering 2 players (Hilliard is check down under Bess, running an out). Hilliard here is as open as you can be in the NFL. Maybe 4-5 steps from a defender, or more.
5th mistake - It'd only be for 2-3 yards, but instead of making that pass, Henne throws outside and low to a RB, but regardless, uncatchable nonetheless.
Result of Play - Missed opportunity, poor decision-making, poor execution.
That particular play, at THAT time, in THAT game, indicts Tony Sparano, Dan Henning, and Chad Henne all at once.
Court is Adjourned.

I get what Tony Sparano and Dan Henning are thinking. Get the lead up to 10 with 10 min to go. Points haven't exactly been "easy" to come by today, but I would have liked to see them go down the field. HELP Chad Henne develop as a QB, but making a key throw in a key situation.

Your Honor,
May I impart some mitigating circumstances?
Henning 155 years old and set in his ways with over 100 years of NFL experience. No excuses-guilty as charged.
Sporano is 50 years old, with nearly a decade of NFL experience, he was entrusted to lead this franchise. No excuses-guilty as charged.
Henne, on the other hand your Honor, is only 25 years old. He is, ah, young and......um.........ah...........
Never mind your Honor, hang the lot of them!

However he wants total control over all teams in the AFC East, therefore guaranteeing victory
Seems kim jong ill 2 just doesn`t get it
So other plans are in the works for his fate
Believe Sparano & Ireland & ... thats right

Regardless of the Cowboys record...they are loaded with talent...I think Jason Garrett got impatient and wanted that HC job and tanked the offense to start the season.....
I say all that to say this...keep Ireland....he seems to know talent...Sporano/Henning MUST GO!!!!
HENNE can sty and sit the bench for another year or two behind a Vet...and compete with a draftee in the future

i CANT BELIVE EVERYONE WANTS THIS GUY FIRED. I DONT GET IT GO LOOK AT ALL THE OTHER TEAMS THAT NEED A QB. aLMOST OF ALL THEM ALL OF THEM ARE WAY BELOW 500. IF CHAD PENNINGTON HAD STARTED THIS YEAR AND STAYED HEALTHY THIS TEAM IS IN THE PLAYOFFS. tHEY NEEDED A QB NOT TO TURN THE BALL OVER. lOOK THE FINS HAVE THE 2ND LOWEST PENT. AGIAINEST THEM. THAT IS PRODUCT OF THE COACH. aND DONT FOEGET WHEN THE RIFECTA TOOK THIS TEAM OVER THEY WHERE 1-15 NOW THERE A 500 TEAM WITH A BAD YA NOT AVG. BUT BAD QB. Armando got a hard on when he heard York was talking to Parcells.
It's possible he found a little nugget while digging in. Thus finding out that Parcell has not spoken to Ross.
I think, but I'm not sure, that Parcells would have needed to get Ross's permission to speak with Ross.
Whatever the case may be, Armando sounds pretty adamnant on the issue.

Dolphins should keep Sparano, he is still learning the finer points of being a head coach in the nfl, but his energy, emotion, and ability to motivate most players is what the Dolphins didn't have with previous coaches. Cam Cameron and Wannstad were lifeless on the sidelines and always looked confused. Sparano will continue to improve both in game planning and making decisions and changes during the game, those things come with experience. I don't see any coaches out there to hire which would be an upgrade. Cowher has been out of things for too long, Gruden had his super bowl year, but after that his teams struggled to compete. Keep Sparano, let Henning retire and hire a new offensive coordinator, improve offensive line, bring in competition for Henne, hire new special teams coach, improve special teams, then I think the team will be highly competitive next year.

I heard the military had the capability to modify the weather for weather warfare, and was experimenting here in the U.S.A. I was told they were causing hurricanes, drought, earthquakes, floods, forest fires, lightning, tsunamis and other things like experimenting with mind control. I refused to believe it. How foolish I was. I soon stumbled upon the information on an Air Force website.
HAARP (High-frequency Active Auroral Research Program) is the American military’s plan to manipulate the world’s ionosphere, and can create earthquakes, tornadoes, hurricanes, tsunamis, jam all global communications, tsunami, disrupt weather systems, interfere with migration patterns, disrupt human mental processes, negatively affect your health and disrupt the upper atmosphere.
In the video Dr. Nick Begich discusses HAARP. HAARP technology is the ultimate radio frequency microwave weapons system disguised as a research instrument. Publicity gives the impression that HAARP is an academic project with the goal of changing the ionosphere to improve communications for our own good. I can see how it could be used in much more sinister ways, and according to U.S. military documents — HAARP aims to “exploit the ionosphere for Department of Defense purposes”.
Thanks Homes

I AM STARTING TO THINK THIS REPORT IS TRUE ABOUT BP TALKING TO ROSS TO KEEP SPARANO ..... MANY REPORTS SAYING SAME THING.
Posted by: ALoco | December 30, 2010 at 10:13 AM
Will Bill Belichick do what most coaches would do and rest as many key guys as possible with the top seed wrapped up? Or will he turn what might be the final game of the Tony Sparanao era into another lopsided blowout?
Can the Dolphins go 7-1n the road?
Will Cam Wake be stuck on Home`s preseason posted prediction of 14 sacks this season or will Tommy be tossed to the ground like a rag doll?
Posted by: Home | December 30, 2010 at 10:14 AM
If it is true I wonder what Parcells promised Ross? Maybe he will step back into the picture and actually "earn" some of the money he is being paid?

No more advice from Bill Parcells. I am a Parcells supporter but he did his worst work in Miami. He left Miami a team that isn't complete or competitive.
Miami has spent many resources on Parcells foundation spots which is offensive and defensive lines and Miami isn't set on either line. Miami lost to Browns, Bills and Lions all at home therefore they are a joke and not competitive.
Parcells might want to say something and Ross may on him for his opinion but Ross should go with the obvious trend that Miami won't sell out because bad, boring teams never do and that goes for any city and team in the NFL.
Posted by: Andy NJ | December 30, 2010 at 10:25 AM
Andy NJ, how did you enjoy our big snowstorm?
Miami is set quite nicely on the d-line. They have Merling & Langford signed for 1 more year. Odrick will be back next year along with Starks. If they can sign Mcdaniel & Soliai back longterm, & re-up Merling or Langford next year, this is the one area of the team that isn't a redo.
O-line, COMPLETELY different story
Posted by: Joe Schmoe | December 30, 2010 at 10:29 AM
its in bellicheks best interest to keep sparano in miami. pats coach is sharp;could beat fins this week but not by much. a lopsided score would ensure sparano's demise. bellichek also suggests miami give henne more time(like phil simms got in ny). seems all this would benefit the pats dynasty for years to come. sparano is the 4th best coach in our afc east div. he's really lost on gameday. nolan is the only reason this season wasnt a complete disaster!
Posted by: greg z. | December 30, 2010 at 10:32 AM
I agree with Greg z. Morono is in way over his head as a HC.
Posted by: Joe Schmoe | December 30, 2010 at 10:34 AM
Joe S,
Yeah we didn't get hammered too bad in South NJ, outside Philly but enough to annoy me bro.
Yeah I can agree the D-Line is solid and that's pretty much what you get out of a 3-4 D and what you want. So I can back off that criticism without a fight. I like Langford he is a solid. I never saw Merling do balls except for the Jets game and Favre. But a lot of people are digging Solia these days and I am starting to feed into it too. Starks is good at DE not NT. If Odrick does anything next year it could be a plus for Miami.
And the O-line needs to 2 new legit starting caliber players at a minimum.
Posted by: Andy NJ | December 30, 2010 at 10:35 AM
Andy NJ, sellouts? Lol, sorry bro but Miami could have a team like NE and the only reason they would sell out is the fans of opposing teams buying tickets. This is THE worst fan base for all sports. The Marlins have won 2 World Series in 13 years and they struggle to get 13 thousand per game. Just a fact down here
Posted by: bobbyd12 | December 30, 2010 at 10:38 AM
If Ross listens to Blowcells again we can look forward to more 7-9 or worse seasons. Blowcells only cares about his wallet and his bloated legacy!!

All these characters would talk to each other many times seeming simultaneous complete w picture avatar
Have anyone of U ever heard the hilarious Phil Hendrie radio show, as he does all the voices of radio host, celebrity or guest and also he is the fictitious outrageous callers arguing w real callers
Outstanding talent Phil Hendrie
Philip Stephen Hendrie is an American radio personality. He is best known as the host of The Phil Hendrie Show, a comedy talk radio program that is syndicated throughout North America on Talk Radio Network. While The Phil Hendrie Show became renowned for its unique and controversial guests, those guests are not real people at all. They are fictional characters created and voiced by Hendrie himself.
Hendrie has performed voices on the animated FOX sitcoms King of the Hill and Futurama, and as I.N.T.E.L.L.I.G.E.N.C.E. and the Terrorist in Team America: World Police. In Spring of 2006, he had a supporting role in the live-action NBC sitcom Teachers.
Hendrie moved from Minneapolis, Minnesota to Miami, Florida where he further developed his show. The show then moved to KFI in Los Angeles, California and was nationally syndicated to approximately 100 radio stations

I wish someone would make up their minds on what the fins are going to do. Geez just like the season its always a rollercoaster. Wouldn't it be something if Sparano was fired for Jason Garrett. I'm not sure if this would be better or worse. I just pray that Mike Nolan stays whoever is coaching. Mr. Nolan the fin fans support you please dont leave us. Our team needs you LOL

What did Parcells do in Miami that would make Ross listen to him? If I'd be Ross and I'd have Parcells calling me, I'd tell him: "You've got the wrong number dude. Sorry."
Posted by: #1 Dolphin Fan in Montreal | December 30, 2010 at 10:45 AM
Listen, it's not MY money BUT if I was forced, and yes Ross is forced to pay Parcells, I would want him to do something, anything to at least work. I'm sure no one here would just want to give away money to someone and get nothing in return. For that reason alone I can see Ross wanting Parcells to do something for his money.
Posted by: bobbyd12 | December 30, 2010 at 10:46 AM
BobbyD12,
The Marlins are a different story because you can't follow the players because once they hit free agency they are gone. But I know you're right about opposing teams but the Dolphins do sell out when they are good for whatever reason opposing teams or not.
