Dolphins implode, lose 34-27 to Detroit

They managed to turn a 7-point lead into a 7-point loss today. The Miami Dolphins lose.

They finish the season 1-7 at home.

Terrible!

As a Michigan fan, I was behind Henne. As an Italian-American, I was pulling for Sparano. My loyalty died today. Bye, Chad. Bye, Tony.

its clear that sparano, henningn and henne all need to go. very disappointing

dolphin77, LMAO your a FAKE Fan and a FAKE little boy. Be careful punk, you may not like what ur going get, PunkAss no nothing

Well to all the fans out there .. I do read this paper and listen to all your concerns.. I will be making a lot of changes next yr.. I have a good idea who our new coach will be,, ANd it looks like a new GM might be taking place.SO get your popcorn out and enjoy the new show..Thank you for all your comments..

I said last week that this team was becoming the Detoit Lions of the NFL. Nix that. They just surpassed on their way up and on our way day.

For all you Henne the Hero blowhards, there wont be any bust of Chad in Canton, just a bust in Miami.

Bite me.

Mark, the draft is usually unpredictable, and as a few teams already have their QB, a guy like mallet or Cam Newton (whom I DON'T want) just might fall...ala Brady (Cam did SOMETHING right) Quinn.

Wasn't this the easy part of the schedule? We played elite teams so close you would have thought at this point against these teams, we'd win them easily.

Henne was on early then I don't know what happened in the 4th. The pick he threw going to the TE was clearly miscommunication between him & the TE. The TE stopped and Henne threw it as if he was to keep going. The int to Bess was a slip but he still forced it into double coverage. He's completely rattled & looks nothing like the QB that had shown improvement early in the season.

This team is a wreck. Sparano & Henning must go. I'm torn on ireland but if the past is any indicator, he needs to go as well. This team seriously lacks speed.

Even the defense for the 2nd week in a row, the pass Defense still isn't very good. And this is against bad teams now that we give up plays in big spots. Lets hope a Qb or some elite speed at TE or Rb fall sin our laps with our 1st rounder.

Can't believe people say have to give coaches more time. This FUbAR is almost entirely on the coaches. How many times to you have to see predictable play calling and robotic execution, lousy 2 minute offenses, horrid special teams and not realize the HC is incompetent. Henne may well not be a qb, but his leadership and training is so objectively incompetent I can't evaluate what is Henne and what is Spanning. More time for these coaches is just more trouble for the new regime to fix. Please
Ross let the recovery begin today.

McCreet,

The season we finished 1-15 was supposed to be our season of promise and hope. Everyone raved about this 'offensive mastermind' who was the flavour of the month, who ran a top notch offence in San Diego, a guy named Cam Cameron. What a lousy choice that was!! There were more games than not when it seemed the team didn't show up to play. Zach Thomas was probably past his prime and other guys seemed to be going through the motions. I'm just saying we should be careful what we wish for because you don't ALWAYS get what you think your getting. Jimmy Johnson showed in his time with us that he wasn't the genius we were lead to belive he was, whether in the draft or as a coach. Does anyone remember his last game with the team, something like a 62-3 loss to Jacksonville and he was off into retirement again with his tail between his legs. Don't be so sure this won't happen if Cowher comes here.

YEAH LETS DRAFT A QB #1. THEN LETS BLOWUP EVERYTHING ON OUR OFFENSE NOT NAMED JAKE LONG. BECAUSE THE 3-4 YEARS ITLL TAKE FOR HIM TO BECOME A FORCE, IF HE DOESNT TURN BUST, MOST OF OUR PRESENT OFFENSIVE PLAYERS WOULD BE ON THIER WAY OUT OF THE LEAGUE ANYWAY.

SO MAY AS WELL GET A HEADSTART ON THINGS! LOL...........

what am i going to get bobby, tell me. so where do you want to meet me?

It's just really hard to see it all as the OC's fault with Henne when everytime you see him throw long it's off target. Why can't he at least launch a respectable throw into the endzone with nineteen seconds left?

jets in the playoff....comming off a loss.....with one game to play.....darn.....we need to refocus our energy on the PATS.....for the offseason

dolphin77, I'm easy to find, my dik is usually attached to your old lady's mouth most nights punkass

WHAT WE'VE SEEN ALL YEAR HAS BEEN A COMBINATION OF OC, QB, AND HC. DONT KNOW ABOUT THE REST OF YOU BUT THAT'S EXACTLY WHAT I'VE SEEN! LOL.................

S = saprano
H = henning
I = ireland
_ = henne=Terrible
Fill in the blank

Cuban, unfortunately for ME, I caught the tail end of the debacle here on a herald blog..
Trust me, friend when i say it was JUST as painful to read the ongoing sorrowful play of our beloved team than to have witnessed it.
Or maybe not.

As was said by someone earlier, the last 3-4 minutes was truly a microcosm of our season with this regime...clock mismanagement, untimely interceptions, inexplicably odd play calls, Chad checking down, "play action" fakes on 3rd and 16, and on and on.
not sure if there were any fist pumps, through.

dolphin77, FAKE FAN, FAKE PUNK

bring on cowher ross. I can't think of any other way forward. This regime is gone. At least the 3 stooges of henning, hennme and sparano are all gonners

The Pats are gonna coast next week---esp if Ross fails to pull the trigger before game.

No one loves Jeffy, Tony & Henne more than the Pats & Jets & their fans. Belli will let some doubt remain in Ross's mind so that Tony & Co can return to ruin us again next year.

IMA, you shoulda phoned Parcells with your Ryan pick. Doubt he would have pulled the trigger though. That group's strategy was to rebuild the team from the lines out. You see how well the oline performed this year.

DOLPHIN 77 IS A MEMBER OF (( THE GANG OF DEFEAT )) HEADED BY DYING BREED AND ARMANDO AND THE LITTLE BOY SUPERPHIN....THEY R NEVER HAPPY AND FULL OF THEMSELVES UNLESS WE LOSE .

Now be a good little boy and go play with yourself before you get hurt

bobbyd12, i would beat you to death with your own golf club.

aloco let bobby suck your di$k too!

Honestly---even including Jacory Harris & Shannon of two yrs ago---has anyone every seen such a putrid Two Minute Drill--esp since it happens time & again?????

FFS---they can't even get plays off, let alone attack the end zone.

Do they actually practice this dreck??

COWHER IS LIKE (( HYENA )) HE PRYAS ON THE NFL JOBS,THE SEASON ISN'T OVER AND HIS AGENTS LEAKS WHAT JOB HE WANTS....

COWHER THE (( HYENA ))

blah, blah, blah, aloco, keep cryin, youll come around eventually....maybe.....Bobbyd12 we are in rebuilding mode already, another coach, OC, and qb wont change much of anything for next year except maybe more hope then this staff has right now for the future.

dolphin77, i didn't use bad language with you son of bit c h.

Been thru "the franchise destroyer" Dave Wannestedt ( I don't care how you spell it correctly ). Cam Cameron - so creative he has the same first and last name. The revolving door sucks. Somebody take the training wheels off of Chad Henne and then we can make a decision if he's the one. Spend some draft picks on some good offensive linemen and give Tony an offense that can afford to take some chances. Dan Marino we've never missed you more than now.

there you go aloco, get angry!

mg,

I see things the same way you do on this. I'm OK with picking up a FA QB and a young QB in the third round or lower but PLEASE no first round QB. Too many other holes to fill.

Superphin, I'm all for change but not for changing EVERYTHING. Henning out, additions through FA and the draft. Henne and Sparano get one more season to prove they are up for the task. I don't even think the QB class this year is even that good, so I don't understand why everyone is pushing for that.

do we need to hire the (( HYENA )) COWHER ?

Garage,

Good post at 5:55pm.....you're right on the money. A voice of reason....

IMAwriter is on point. Chad Henne should sue the Dolphins coaching staff for mental abuse. They completely ruined the kid as he regressed in year number two. It's unfair how much abuse he's taking from the fans. I can't say that he doesn't deserve some of the blame, but the fact that the coaching staff burned fear into his head ruined him as a player. He may be fixable with another coaching staff here or somewhere else but one thing is for sure, I don't want Sparano working with another young quarterback with the Dolphins next year. Sparano's handling of Henne was criminal. I've grown to despise Tony Sparano.

Posted by: kris | December 26, 2010 at 05:46 PM

LOL @ Kris, Chances are good seeing how the pats have wrapped up home field advantage they'll play there second stringers... I doubt that the fins could beat them... sad but true folks.....

bobbyd12/dolphin77, very funny commentary. Everyone's upset and angry. But calm down. Everyone's Mike Tyson on a blog, while most of us are twinkle-toes in person.

We all have a right to our opinion. May not go down well with others, but we'll all be on the blog next year supporting the team.

I've been a blog-fighter, we've all done it. But unless anyone ever gets up and fights for real, it's very silly. Plus is holiday time, drink some egg nog and both of you cool down.

NO MORE SEASONS FOR HENNE & TONY & JEFFY!

NO NO NO

Case closed--the evidence is in---all defendants guilty as charged.

GONE

You last few defenders REALLY??? want to go thru another yr of this?

PETER PRINCIPLE---Tuna's flunkies---Tuna's gone--say buhbye to his loser buddies.

BTW, THAT WAS THE FIRST WIN FOR DET VS MIAMI EVER.

THE 49'S COACH WILL BE FIRED TOMORROW .

DOLPHIN77, IT'S only A BLOG .you want a fight ?lol

How come no one is screaming at the defence today? I would think giving up 34 points to Shawn Hill and a pretty week offence isn't a great day at the office. Where was the defence on that 53 yards run? I realize that 7 of those point were off that very poor throw by Henne late in the game but the defence didn't accomplish much today.

Your IQ is too high for these buffoons..... We need massive o-line help and a speed infusion... the only thing Henning has said that makes sense. I don't know if Henne is the answer, but no playmakers and a crappy o-line makes it hard for me to tell what is what!!!

1. Dont knock us DirecTV fans! hahaha

2. I had more fun playing Fantasy Football than watching Phins this year..

3. I'm more excited about Phins now that than ever this season, for the simple fact of I cant wait to see what unfolds over the next few weeks.

4. I WILL renew Sunday Ticket, and I WILL watch every game next year no matter what...and travel to see a game somewhere. maybe even a home game?

Looking forward to next year and all the drama it will bring....

True fans....drink a few beers and relax. Theres NOTHING we can do about it anyway...

see ya next year

your right DC Dolfan, im actually 3'4 and im afraid of my own shadow! NOT

We need somebody to push henne for being the starter, and not just given another year to succeed, i cant imagine sparono bringing in a sought after OC to make this team respectable on offense, he just lacks what a head coach needs......Leadership and aggressiveness, his body language, his attitude, and his comments all point to being NOT IN CONTROL of this team....would we really sink that far if we did bring in cohwer or gruden as a change of pace??? were not just one year away here and i doubt sparono is ross's guy for the future.

DC DOLFAN, PICK THE PLACE AND THE TIME AND WEAPON OF CHOICE AND I WILL BE THERE IN FULL UNIFORUM TO FIGHT THE GOOD FIGHT ,

CraigM, you haven't watched the Lions this year (or read Mando's post earlier). Detriot is NOT a weak offense. They're actually very good (and put up lots of points). Shaun Hill is a very good backup QB (he's a better backup than Henne is a starter).

I'm not calling out the defense because how many times can you go to the well dude? They've been called on last 4-5 games to win it. Offense can't stop playing in the 4th quarter. 10 points is NOT a reason to go into prevent offense in today's NFL.

Defense wasn't great (obviously, gave up 27 points), but if you throw 2 INTs in last 7min, one a pick-6, other in your red zone, not sure what you expect the d to do with that.

to the poster who asked why wasnt anyone calling fo sparanos head last yr,i was mr kahn aka njfish fan had to change my screen name someone took it

dolphin77, if you r afraid of you shadow ,PICK THE TIME AND PLACE AND THE WEAPON OF CHOICE AND I WILL BE THERE TO FIGHT YOU WITH HONOR AND NO TRICKS ALLOWED .

A Sad day Fin fans, I'am gonna leave you all right now, but I'am gonna turn over the blog to The Empress... The Empress of ALL Pineapples....

ALoco, are you getting furloughed any time soon? How can we meet up to fight if you're locked up in the clink, lol?

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The only reason we won the only home game was because Henne was knocked out of the game. OMG this guy sucks.

craig m, thanks for posting back respectfully. The only point which i dont want to run into the ground was this years team left me feeling worse, just me personaly. The 1-15 team was so bad i kind of saw it as a fluke in my years of going to dophin games since 1967. I hate to bring this up but new england seems to be looking real good this year and has 2 picks per round i believe for this coming draft, which should help them continue to build their future. This is the concept that Miami needs and it starts with a foundation, if you build on a false foundation it crumbles when u add on levels. I dont think this staff is the right foundation, so yes, i would try again, and again if need be till some owner could put the right capstone in place. I look forward to that day. Who is it? I dont know, but New England would be my model for building.and i do hate the pats incase u r wondering. GO MIAMI!

Makes perfect sense to me. Bring in a vet to compete at QB and draft a guy in the mid rounds.... the kid from FSU looks like a good prospect for development.

stop the violence!

Yes, willnyc, we were saying it too. You just saw it coming.

I have tried to use dome logic when defending Henne. As I see it as a complete failure on the whole side of the offense. What I don't get is why Henne is asked to throw so many times. It is a recipe for disater. Usually it is because ooir running game can't get going. But we had over 150 yards on the ground today. So that excuse flies out the window. I thought 150 was the magic number. We could go into situational playcalling which is easier to rip after the fact. The interceptions are a killer, but that is obvious too. The thing that dissapoints me most about Henne, has been his performance in the fourth quarter, when the game is close and on the line. There is absolutley no confidence in him, or our team to make a play late in the game(offensivley) It is absolutley a leadership problem. I doubt any offensive player has any confidence that Henne can will the team down the field. The coaches don't or they wouldn't have called that wildcat play last week(the one time this season Henne looked the part) Right now, Henne doesn't have the qualities of a winner. He is in there because sadly, he is our best option. I was rooting for his succsess because it would mean we could rebuild this team from inside out. Henne is making it almost impossible to do that without getting your head checked.

I think we need a power running back like Ingram, maybe p/u Orton if he becomes available.....some tweaking of The Oline, a new progressive OC and either a new HC or at least a new mindset for Sparano, I'm not happy with his game management skills, nor his QB development skills. Henne should be further along by now, unless this is the best he can do. He cost us a lot of points today by those INTs.

Cuban, yes, pats 3rd stringers, but if I'm Bellicheat I might commit one too many holding penalties in crucial situations, and watch Miami drop one or 2 places lower in the draft pecking order. LOL
Either that or dropkick all field goal attempts.

@6:09 some logic. Not Dome logic????
