The Lions and Dolphins are both out of it, but at least they're putting on a fairly interesting game.
Both teams scored TDs in fourth quarter.
We're headed to the fourth quarter with Miami ahead, 24-17.
The live blog continues under this post. Meet me there, please.

Another year of Henne, the entire coaching staff and Ireland? I would be the dumbest team owner, if I was Ross, in the entire NFL. I hope the Patriots rest their starters or it will be another Jacksonville blow out we had a few years back.

funny thing is people will still say henne is a franchise qb and all he needs is a new oc. i say they are on crack and are in major denial and need serious help!
Posted by: dolphin 77 | December 26, 2010 at 04:22 PM
sh*t i would rather have that Mr. know it all Kris running this team right now than strapono....wait did i say that, negative i meant aloco, wait no, hmmmmm maybe i would want nick saban running this team again.....Ouch!!!!
Posted by: superPHIN | December 26, 2010 at 04:22 PM
Aloco - I would suggest you have a cup of warm chamomille tea in a quiet place to clear your mind. Afterwards there will be no way to believe in Henne after these last several games. He has an occasional run between the 20's but otherwise is simply terrible the other 90% of the time. 1 and 2 year rookies are outplaying him. I think Henne has been going backwards since about week 12 2009.
Posted by: 0x80 | December 26, 2010 at 04:23 PM
We had better hope ireland goes as well. Do we want another "Dez Bryant' moment?
This next 3 weeks will be the most critical in the history of the miami Dolphins (save the hiring of Don Shula).
Of course we said the same thing post Cam Cameron.
What's depressing me more is that no matter who we get here, NE will have SIX picks in the first 3 rounds...2 firsts, 2 seconds, 2 thirds.
Does ANYONE doubt they will get an even BETTER RB, pass rusher, CB, QB of the future (most likely, the one WE should have selected), etc.
The Fins will be 3rd...or 4th in our division until Tom Brady or Belliicheat retires.

I am changinh my tag name.... I don;t trusy in TONY anymore...I don't trust the Front Office either... I don;t trust the Special Teams.. I do trust the defence. But we'll lose Mr. Nolan to a HC job somewhere. another 3 to 5 years of futility
Posted by: InTonyITrustIHenningIdont | December 26, 2010 at 04:23 PM
This loss was not on the defense. Again, your offense has to control the ball and quit giving the other team's offense chance after chance.

NO EXCUSE FOR SPARANO'S CONSISTENTLY ALLOWED DUMB TIMEOUTS. THE NAIL IN OUR COFFIN WAS SEALED LONG BEFORE THE FINAL PLAY.
SPARANO IS ONE OF THE DUMBEST GAME DAY MANAGEMENT hc'S IVE EVER SEEN! lol.............
Posted by: DyingBreed | December 26, 2010 at 04:25 PM
GarbagePlate, the thing is though, Henne threw by my count 3 possible pick 6's, which all were dropped. This guy is an int factory, and only gets worse with the game on the line. No way this guy is a winner, no way. He has had plenty of time.

IF WE BRING BACK SPARANO WE CAN ALMOST GUARANTEE OURSELVES TO SUPPLANT THE BILLS AS AFC EAST CELLAR DWELLARS NEXT SEASON! LOL...........
Posted by: DyingBreed | December 26, 2010 at 04:27 PM
Anybody think Billick should be considered? I get the feeling DyingB is a Cowher fan, but what about the rest of you?
Posted by: 0x80 | December 26, 2010 at 04:27 PM
You guys who just "saw the light" on Henne surprise me. The guy has been the dullest knife in the drawer since he got here. He really has a low football IQ, and he has beaten no one. The problem is ITS TOO LATE TO REALIZE THAT. Not a few of us have been screaming all year to sit his arse down--he DOESN'T GET IT!
A season shot to hell because an idiot HC who wears sunglasses indoors starts a BLIND, DEAF, AND DUMB QB!
Hallelujah! Wheres the Tylenol?!
Posted by: Angry Elf | December 26, 2010 at 04:28 PM
i don't give a damn who it is as long as it's not these losers we have now.
Posted by: dolphin 77 | December 26, 2010 at 04:29 PM
If Cowher gets the job here is what will happen:
1. He won't win a SB in the first 4 years
2. Fans turn on him.
3. He gets bored and fed up and wonders why he ever came out of retirement.
4. He quits.
5. He appoints his own successor.
6. We are back to where we were in 2000.
Sound familiar?

Cept JP was a better scrambler.

DB, don't you think bringing in Cowher risks Nolans departure and would you be ok with that? Me things we need to keep Nolan big time.
Posted by: 0x80 | December 26, 2010 at 04:31 PM
it will be either gruden or cowher. cowher is a bit older, that's one negative, gruden is still farely young and would have more years left in him. but either one will do.
Posted by: dolphin 77 | December 26, 2010 at 04:32 PM
COWHER GOT TO 5 CONFERENCE CHAMPIONSHIP GAMES AND 1 SB WITH:
NEIL O'DONNEL, MIKE TOMZACK, AND CORDELL STEWARTS AS QB'S.
HE FINALLY GOT TO AFC CHAMPIONSHIP GAME AND A SB VICTORY WITH ROSLISBERGER. THE GUY DOES MORE WITH LESS AND MORE WITH MORE THAN ANY HC WE'VE HAD HERE IN DECADES!
ENUFF SAID! LOL................
Posted by: DyingBreed | December 26, 2010 at 04:33 PM
Give me a Harbaugh. Cowher takes too long to win. Chucky is a media creation.
Posted by: Angry Elf | December 26, 2010 at 04:34 PM
harbaugh will go to carolina.

1-7 at home, horrible time-out/clock management... bye-bye Tony, get the F outta here. QB is a whole different situation for new head coach to sort out.

I agree. Great post. He's slow afoot. Slow to makes decisions. And shows little heart or passion. Would you wanna be in a foxhole with him?
Nor do his teammates.
Big error for Big Tuna... oh, well... least he has a HOF rep. to live off (plus the owner's $$$).
This is seriously bad now.
Wonder if they'll fire the GM-coach?
I see us getting one more year of this regime... before Ross declares it a lost cause.
1-7 at home sucks. I sense the Fins ain't the hottest ticket in town.
Wouldn't want my bonus based on ticket sales.
Posted by: Arnsybill | December 26, 2010 at 04:36 PM
who ever comes in will get rid of henne. that's obvious.
Posted by: dolphin 77 | December 26, 2010 at 04:37 PM
0x80,
For one Cowher isnt a fool. Two, if Cowher comes in and lead us into the promised land with Nolan as a dominating DC. Then Nolan's chances of landing a HC job becomes even brighter.
If Coher wants say so in in front office personel decisions he definitely doesnt need DC and HC responsibilities on his plate too. Cowher's a smart man! LOL................
Nolan stays!
Posted by: DyingBreed | December 26, 2010 at 04:37 PM
NOooooo
DyingBreed...
Sparano should be allowed to stay for another year...
But only if they can find a better O.C. and a Starting Quarterback !!!!
Remember, THEY probably would have had ELEVEN WINS if the OFFENSE had scored a NORMAL amount of points this Season.

Fire the DJ....KEEP THE COACH !!!!!

Previous success in no way guarantees future success. See Joe Gibbs, JJ, ect.
My gut tells me Cowher is not really interested in Miami and just using us as a ruse to get a better offer elsewhere. Time will tell.
I do find it very difficult to believe Ross will give Sparano another year. Remember his goal was the division championship this year, what a laugh, shows you how out of touch with reality he is.

HARBAUGH VS BILL BELICHICK IN THE AFC EAST. ARE YOU F^CKING KIDDING ME?
THAT'S LIKE BRINGING A KNIFE TO A GUNFIGHT. LOL.............
Posted by: DyingBreed | December 26, 2010 at 04:39 PM
I don't think it's Cowher time yet.
Something about the "coach who's done it before" worries me. See Mike Shanahan.
If he's available... hire Jeff Fisher. He needs a change of pace... I think he's good.
What do you guys think of him?
Posted by: Arnsybill | December 26, 2010 at 04:41 PM
YOU GUYS AND YOUR HC PREDICTIONS LEAVE OUT THE MOST IMPORTANT FACTOR OF ALL:
THE WIZARD OF OZBORO IS IN THIS DIVISION. YOU BETTER THINK GUY THAT BELICHICK WONT TOTALLY EAT HIS LUCNH IN YOUR ASSESSMENTS! LOL........
Posted by: DyingBreed | December 26, 2010 at 04:41 PM
Who'd donate a stone for an in his prime Don Shula about now?
Least we competed.
Posted by: Arnsybill | December 26, 2010 at 04:43 PM
COWHER IS THE BEST AVAILABLE MATCHUP TO BELICHICK OF ALL AVAILABLE HC PROSPECTS.
Posted by: DyingBreed | December 26, 2010 at 04:43 PM
parcells is coming back to the sidelines. lol.
Posted by: dolphin 77 | December 26, 2010 at 04:43 PM
I WANT COWHER SIMPLY BECAUSE OF ALL HC PROSPECTS IN THE POOL RIGHT NOW COWHER MAYCHES UP AGAINST BELICHICK BEST OF ALL.
Posted by: DyingBreed | December 26, 2010 at 04:45 PM
we need the giants to win, otherwise coughlin might be gone.
Posted by: dolphin 77 | December 26, 2010 at 04:45 PM
Cowher, himself, said (during a September visit) that the Dolphins Practice VERY SIMILAR to the way his Steelers used to.
Their two philosophies are essentially the same.
Sparano got stuck with a Bad O.C.
If Cowher delays entering the market until 2012... then I might be open to the idea.
Statistics show that Teams that 'clean house' every three years NEVER WIN.

Posted by: DyingBreed | December 26, 2010 at 05:06 PM
Ok... it might, very well, have something to with the "Peter Principle"
All I'm saying is that we need one more year to be sure. (It usually takes 4 full years to evaluate a Head Coach.)
and..
Consider this Owner...
We don't yet know if we have Dan Rooney ...or Al Davis!

How I long for a return to the days when the Dolphins played in a fearsome home stadium, the Orange Bowl. SunLife/LandShark/Dolphins/ProPlayer/JRS has become a joke. The "orange carpet"...give me a break. Celebrity owners....what a joke. We've lost sight of what's important and it's become all about the celebrity factor. Every two seconds, you've got some dumb celebrity saying "Fins UP" on the jumbotron. Ridiculous.
Let's get back to basics. Dump the orange carpet, dump the Williams sisters, dump Marc Anthony and his big assed wife, and focus on what matters....winning football games with quality players.
Oh yeah, and dump Henne. His time is UP.

The Dolphins looked like a bunch of Jerry's kids out there on the field today! They were soundly whipped by New England 2nd and 3rd string players.
Dropped passes, missed tackles, horrific special teams play....the list goes on and on.
If we fire the coaching staff and cut, release or trade half the players what are we really giving up? Another 7-9 season?
I believe most Dolphin fans could handle the risk of major changes in the Miami product at this juncture of the game.
I have no idea how Mr. Ross even remotely thinks he's going to partially fill Dolphins stadium next year. Too much to do in Miami. Why take your family and your money out to see a perrenial loser?
