Henning (no surprise) not saying he's retiring

If you were expecting offensive coordinator Dan Henning to come into his final press conference of the 2010 season and announce his retirement to much pomp and circumstance, you are disappointed. There was no pomp. No circumstance. No announcement on Thursday.

As expected, the man who often says he only need answer to his supervisor Tony Sparano, isn't sharing anything with the media or fans.

"I'm coaching a game here, men," Henning said when asked if he is retiring. "I'm not thinking about nothing but coaching this game in New England ..."

Henning was in defend mode today. He defended Chad Henning, comparing him to Steve Young, Jim Plunkett and Phil Simms, saying they didn't hit their stride years and years into their careers. And he kind of defended himself, too when addressing the issue of scapegoats.

"It's easy to find scapegoats. It's not easy to find solutions. When you determine this guy is it and you take him out of the mix and find out it wasn't him, you find out you're wrong. So you better do the due diligence. You better dig. You better find out why you think its wrong. Why did this change. Why did the chemistry change. Are we doing the right things here, there and everywhere. That's the easy part to pinpoint someone out and take him out of the mix.

"If I am the problem, Dan Henning. If I'm the problem and you take me out of the mix and it works great after I'm gone with the same operation, hey, I'd love to be able to say, 'Take me outta here.' I don't believe that. I don't believe it's any other one individual on the offense that has caused the offense to settle down and not be as good as it has been in the past."

Correct, it's a bunch of individuals. Henning is not alone. But he has responsibility to bear for the problems, too. So does Chad Henne. So does the offensive line. So does Ronnie Brown. So does quarterback coach David Lee. So does Tony Sparano.

You don't get to be 29th in the NFL in points scored by having just one person struggle.

Wow. Unbelievable.

Please go, we need some life in our offense

Dear Mr. Salguero

Will the Dolphins please hire Marvin Purvis to catch this John Dillenger and end this crime spree

Yahhh seee

Soiled :)

Who cares. What bothers me is that someone could read that post and then come in here and say "unbelievable" as if Henning was supposed to announce his retirement before the last game of the season. You know guys, Armando isn't trying to make you feel one way or the other on this and just because he has an opinion , that wasn't even stated, doesn't mean you have to follow that like sheep. Maybe try to think for yourself once and a while? Henning not announcing his retirement is no where near "unbelievable" but seems to fit more in the category of, 'yeah, no s**t what did you expect'.

Cya Dan.

Thanks for the NE Wildcat beat down a few years ago.

The Fins will manage... Cheers!

Well I hope they figure out the offense as well as they did the defense last year. For OC I'm beginning to like the idea of Mcdaniels. He can go after belicheat with his own type of offense.

I also wouldn't mind brad childress. I doubt kubiak comes here even if he's fired. Denver will grab him

Jeff good point.. At this point it makes no difference. I mean I would pour free shots of Patron at the bar for any interested. But besides the Hangover, and loss of personal revenue nothing would change. Now in a week if Henning announces he is off to pasture. Great. We can move forward, and try and right this ship. If months go by and Henning is around for OTA's and other team functions. Then we can start the great freakout.

>He defended Chad Henning

Is that his son???????

"You don't get to be 29th in the NFL in points scored by having just one person struggle".

No Armando....you sure don't

armando, YOU DIDN'T REPORT THAT HENNING SAID , (( TONY SPARANO HAS THE CLEAREST IDEA HOW TO FIX THE TEAM )) .

VIVA SPARANO FOR ANOTHER YEAR.
GO FINS

"It's easy to find scapegoats. It's not easy to find solutions," Henning warned.

This is what he says? It's easy to find scapegoats?!

Yeah Dan we know, you've been using a young QB as one for an entire season.

I'm not a big Henne supporter anymore, he has to prove he can get better before I jump back on that bus and it doesn't seem likely.

But I can't stand the fact that a 60 something year old man has no problem throwing a kid (Henne) under the bus all year while taking absolutely ZERO blame for the offensive woes this team has faced all season. It's easy to find a scapegoat as he knows all too well, he needed to look no further than his starting QB.

But consider this, Pennington, Henning and Sparanos "guy", went 11-5 against the easiest schedule in the league. Would he have done it again with this schedule and Henning calling the same plays? I think not. So his record would more closely resemble Hennes IMO andthen who would Henning have to blame? NO ACCOUNTABILITY FIRE HIM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

ireland better go to work and FIND OUT HOW IN HELL WE R GOING TO GET GOOD QB IN THE DRAFT, LET'S NOT TALK ABOUT THE PAST ........

GO FINS

Denny, all you need to do is look at Penny's record in the 3 games he started last year against teams with winning records....WINLESS.

Soiled, I think you meant Melvin. Marvin is his brother from Carol City. Hahahaha

JOE. I WAS JOKING WHEN I SAID YOU LEAVE ,I MYSELF CAME TO THIS BLOG WHEN YOU WERE BLOGGING ...LOL

Interesting, Football's Future web site lists Kyle Orton as a free agent after this season. Can anyone confirm or deny this? He surely won't be franchised - he should be signed if available.

THEY HAVE TO GET A GOOD PLAYER AND GOOD COACHS. THE GOOD TEAM HAS GOOD PLAYER AND GOOD COACHS!!

OMG!!! This guy is a narcissist. How can he not see he is at least part of the problem? This team plays uninspired football week in and week out. I like Tony but I just don't think he is in charge of anything. I think Tuna and Dan are in charge. Tony is just along for the ride.

Aloco, I was joking when I said no one would miss your multiple personality disorder & 3rd grade english. I certainly would miss it!

Mark, they singed him to a 1 year extension in august i believe

Mark in Toronto, I think it's related to what's going to happen with the collective bargaining agreement.

JOE, YOU BELIEVE WHAT YOU BELIEVE ,STILL YOU R A GREAT GUY .

mark,

orton got an extension this year. He's under contract through 2011

not what I believe Aloco, what I know!

http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/trainingcamp10/news/story?id=5478172

KYLE ORTON SIGNED FOR 2011.DENVER MOVED HIM 3 DAYS AGO BACK TO NO 3 QB AFTER TEBOW AND BRADY QUINN ,THE REASON BEING HIS INJURED RIBS AND THE BRONCOS DON'T LIKE TO RISK ORTON AT THE END OF THE SEASON .

Aloco, congratulations, your English and grammar have improved immensely from yesterday. I'd even say immensely since this morning.

JOE. YOU SMELL LIKE A ROTTERN CHALUPA.

Ah, so the consensus is one more year. What a stupid contract for Orton to sign. Why in the world would he have signed that and miss out on some decent money this summer?

THE FAKE ALoco is on joe ,please forgive him

Oh, he is signed? I know there's a bunch of players who are kind of trapped until this CBA thing is resolved. Ronnie Brown is one of them. Either way, I don't think the Dolphins want him back.

SANDAL-YOU BEING A JERK HAS IMPROVED GREATILY.

I think Kyle Orton sucks.....

"can't coach with Him....can't play win him....cna WIN with him.....CAN'T DO IT....WON'T DO IT"..lol

mark,

KYLE orton got a good deal for 1 YEAR AT 7.6 MILLION ,5.2 MILLION IS GUARANTEED

Aloco, why do you try to make fools of the bloggers by pretending you are a foreigner with limited English and crap spelling one day, and then speaking like a teacher with perfect grammar and spelling the next? Is it fun? Should I try it? Maybe you were really born in Idaho?

Let's give that idea a shot.

SANDL, THE RASON IS WHEN I AM TIRED I WRITE FAST W/MISTAKES AND NEVER GO BACK TO CORRECT THEM TRUSTING YOU AND OTHER TO KNOW WHAT I MEANT ...

I have come here becuase Pastor Pfitzer have told me that becuase I like the computer talks and have seen MANY of the mesage boards and they are not OF GOD AND HIS WAYS and this is sinfull many time even if the peopel donot know this some times! there must be allways talking of GOD and HIS SON JESUS CHRIST OUR SAVOR for this is the SALVATON OF MAN! and do you know Pastor Pfitzer is VERY FAMOS well He made the tv pogrom about Disey Lands that had the sinfull homosexals on there and He prayed on them for there wickednes and sinfull ways and it was on the tv here in Pensacola florida and then Pastor Pfitzer have told Unto me that I can be HIS SPECIAL VESEL OF THE WORD that all are anonted in His HOLY WAYS! so I ask unto JESUS that they shall SDEE and talk allways of HIM here in JESUS NAME!

ANY INSULT TOWARD BLOGGERS IS NOT COMING FRO ME ,IT'S COMING FROM FAKEEEEEEE ALOCO

Aloco and Sandal, the back and forth is entertaining.

ALoco, he could have got that money over 3 or 4 years from somebody (i.e. Miami, Buffalo, Carolina, Minnesota, Oakland, San Francisco, Jacksonville, Washington, Tennessee, and Arizona will all be looking for upgrades at QB)

Mark, just saw that list on football's future.com. Talk about a crappy list!

JOE, THAT WHAT WE ARE HERE FOR ..IT'S A BLOG.

Aloco, how come all of a sudden you are tired and writing like sheet again, when your last several posts were perfectly normal? Did you take a sleeping pill?

Rex Grossman, Seneca Wallace, J.T.O'Sullivan, etc etc...Yuk!

Some idiot reporter was claiming Brett Favre's most likely destination next year would be Miami. LOL!

I will defend Henning SLIGHTLY. His recent offenses have always been based on 2 TE's.

Fasano/Martin or Haynos.
Becht & Baker.
Witten & Fasano.

This year we have Fasano & every practice squad TE in the NFL. For his offense to even have a chance of success, it must have 2 TE's. Morono & Ireland have not come through. With that said, Henning & his dementia definately need to go.

Offensive MVP: Carpenter...enough said !!!

MARK, THAT'S A VERY GOOD POINT...I PREDICT ORTON WILL LEAVE THE GUARANTEED MONEY BEHIND AND OP FOR LONG TERM DEAL W/OTHER TEAMS ...THIS IS THE YEAR OF THE YOUNG QB'S .

Farve's next destination should be to a urologist to fix his terrible case of bent d*ck. For god sakes, the thing looks like a horse shoe.

Aloco, this was your last post to me:

"SANDL, THE RASON IS WHEN I AM TIRED I WRITE FAST W/MISTAKES AND NEVER GO BACK TO CORRECT THEM TRUSTING YOU AND OTHER TO KNOW WHAT I MEANT ..."

How come all your other posts today were perfectly normal and only this one is back to your typical fake idiot self?

All those asking for McDaniels, do you guys not understand that there is a big issue between him and Mike Nolen?

If you don't mind losing Nolen then yeah pray for McDaniels, but there is not enough room in Joe Robbie Stadium or even in Miami, Florida to contain both Josh McDaniels and Mike Nolen so pick your poison.

I can guarantee that if McDaniels steps foot on Dolphin turf Nolen leaves, plain and simple!

I don't understand how so many people can just blindly say let's get this guy or that guy without figuring out the consequences. Sure in a perfect world there would be no conflict of interests and my son wouldn't have to go off to Afghanistan to fight a war!

This ain't Alice in Wonderland folks. Figure it out before you spew.

SANDL, I AM STARTING TO GET TIRED AND I NOTICED THE WORD REASON IS WRONG BUT I LET IT GO .

SANDAL, SHUT UP WITH THE NONESENSE.

What is the suppsoed rift between Nolan & Mcdaniels? I've hear of it but no idea what it's about.

Aloco, cool...its nice to see you speaking proper English again.

SANDL, I AM VERY HONSET W/YOU .I READ AL KIND OF STUFF ABOUT ME TRYING TO BE SMART ,IT'S NOT OR MULTI PERSONALITY ,IT'S NOT BUT THIS IS THE TRUTH .I THINK SAID ENOUGH.

Mtl, there are plenty of off options in free agency right now but not surprisingly with 10 teams unsettled at QB - not many at that position.

The Dolphins will NEED to spend big in free agency again this year. Here's a name we haven't mentioned in a while - Randy Moss? His value has never been lower. He still can fly and catch and it's clear Tenn only grabbed him so NE wouldn't get him back and make the league look like clowns again.

I also like the speedster from Houston for special teams - Jacoby Jones.

Fake Aloco 2:57

IF CAM NEWTON FALLS IN OUR HANDS AT 15 WOULD WE TAKE HIM?

HE'S 6.6 250 Ib very fast in pocket and moves with ease .
