Preparation for Lions Wednesday: The highlights

Another day, another dollar for the Dolphins.

Here are some highlights of what is happening:

ILB Karlos Dansby (toe) missed practice today. Coach Tony Sparano said he simply wanted to rest the player.

Quarterback Chad Henne, he of the 14 TDs and 16 INTs, apparently has a pretty good grasp on his 2010 production so far.

"It's been up and down," Henne said. "Tough road. But at times I felt I've improved on a lot of things from last year -- some decison-making. But there is some good improvement I feel I've made and some strides. But there's stuff I have to work on and I'll evaluated in the offseason."

Henne offered somewhat of a better explanation why he didn't agree with Brandon Marshall when the receiver apologized to his defensive teammates after Sunday's 17-14 loss to Buffalo.

"I just keep relating back that you win or lose as a team," he said. "Obviously, offensively we could have done things better and scored more points and executed better. We're disappointed we didn't score more points and didn't execute, but apologies to our teammates ... I guess I don't know if I'd let a defensive player come in here and say something. I wouldn't accept that. I just think we win or lose as a team."

I believe Henne means he would not require or want an apology from a defensive player if, at some point, the defense played poorly and the offense carried the team.

In case you're wondering, Henne is expected to be the starter for Miami the last two games of the season, barring an unforeseen situation. Sparano is apparently thinking he wants to give Henne more chances to improve.

"I think you to continue and develop Chad," Sparano said. "We'll see where we are in these football games. If there's a point maybe you might be able to do something like that, you think about it. But right now we want to continue to develop Chad."

Speaking of the running game ...

Sparano was asked today what he believes is the biggest problem with the disappointing Miami running game.

Second-level blocking," he said. "I think we've been able to block them good through the first level. I don't think we've done a good enough job blocking linebackers ... I think the second-level blocking is where to me is where we've had the biggest struggles."

Sparano says the Dolphins haven't suffered minus runs to any worrisome degree. He cited some statistic that claims the Dolphins have had the third-fewest negative plays in the NFL. I have not seen any such stats. But it's getting past the defensive linemen that Sparano says Miami has problems.

"It's the difference between a 3 yard run and a 7 yard run," he said.

Of course, that says nothing for the third-level blocking that turns 7 yard runs into 57 yard runs. Haven't seen enough of those this year, either.

The longest run by Ronnie Brown this year is 51 yards. His next longest run is 17 yards. The longest run by Ricky Williams is 45 yards. His next longest run is 23 yards.

I JUST SAW THE TAPE W,REX AND HIS WIFE..VERY FUNNY

GO TO WWW.TECH786.BLOGSPOT,COM THEN ROLL DOWN THE PAGE AND PRESS ON REX RYAN ,IT'S IN RED

LMAO At the Video, Looks like his wife, Sounds Like Fat Rex, And there's a jet noise in the background, You know what they say, If it walks like a duck, Quacks like a duck, Etc,Etc....

SHE'S SITTING IN A CAR SLEEPING AND REX PRETEND TO HIT ON HER LIKE YOU HAVE BEAUTIFUL FEET,CAN I TOUCH YOUR FEET.OH THEY VERY SOFT.LOL

I agree with KRIS...these guys should really be demanding better of the themselves...Marshall has the right attitude...this season has been a GIANT FLOP...stop sugar coating Henne and Sparano please....at least they should speak with strength and disgust at our position...this acceptance angle is a losing approach....

Unless the leaders can state openly that this is not acceptable....if they say well, we are doing our best and make excuses then we are in serious trouble...who will account for the DB drops all year?????...its staggering really

Aloco...how old are you?

bigalfy,
You did not mention that we are 31st in Yards/Carry.

Fat Rex will be playing in the play offs....who is the loser?

Agree Pricemaster....31st...outragious really

Typo....iviewtube

Kris,
16 teams have a poorer record than we do and I've not seen a player on those teams apologizing to each other either.

And our defense didn't apologize to anyone for all of the dropped int's.

Price, Do you think running the "Wildcat" Has anything to do with the mighty air breathers being 31st in rushing??????

I was originally against bringing in Cowher...sometimes these guys that come back dont have the deep commitment required...they have gotten fat and comfortable....so its a risk for sure...but what do we really think will change NEXT year with this FO...they still dont get it...they will continue with current philosophy....and we will get a similar result..

OK...time to switch tack..

Cowher's win loss ratio I think is pretty good and he seems to have a very good post season record...maybe its worth a try...I really dont think this current FO can take us to the next level...unless they change MINDSET...

It may be worth a look at Cowher...

henne will not be around if cowher has anything to say about it!

Dear Henne: Your comment is ridiculous! Instead of holding yourself and teammates accountable, you used the old cliche "team" scapegoat. Well who is the team? It's you, Henne, and everyone else who's suppose to cover their assignments. If you want to see leadership in action, take a look at Brady. He chewed out his offense on the sideline a few weeks ago against the Colts(?).

Play with passion and pride, Henne. Make yourself accountable and demand/push your offense to be better. You should be appreciating Marshall for his bold mea culpa to the press. I have tremendous respect for him now.

Cuban, the best part is, Ryan doesn't deny it.

There is no reason to try and be vague about why Miami running game has suffered...common man!... a 15 years old can see that teams are stacking the box like no ones going to catch a pass.

Why do you suppose that is...?

Could it possibly be that... No one is going to catch a pass...?

Miami ran 7 plays.... Just 7 before going to Max Protect last Sunday. That leaves 2 WR's running short to intermediate routs and a back zipping out on the flat. Sound like Sunday to you? Did you see how many throws were to either Williams or Polite on a "barely make a yard" flat throw?

It is obvious that our Center "Berger" would make a very nice Back-up or spell guy.It is also obvious that whoever is at the RG position on any given Sunday has been poor to pathetic. When you have ANY weakness on the line, it will collaps the entire line... not just where the weakness is. Carey needs to slide over to Guard and Miami needs to get fresh at the Right Tackle... not a tough thing to do.

Aside from a Rookie QB to push Henne, and a Fresh set of Legs at RB... Miami needs a great Center like this team has always had. Shula knew O-line blocking all started at the Center position he calls the blocks and the shifts, he is one of the most important players on the field... It is why he had so many all Pro guys at that position... 2 are in the Hall of Fame (Jim Langer and Dwight Stephenson) and Ruddy has received nearly enough votes a few times now to qualify.

Anyway this season is what it is.
Let's talk draft:

I'm thinking 1st pick has to a gurad from a Div II school like New Hampshire.

I would keep Henne to see if he can flourish with a different game plan and philosophy....that requires either a NEW FO or a complete change of approach by Sparano et al...

Henne is not a BUST just yet...not by a long shot...Let him compete against others...let him know the job is up for grabs...he must win it.

strapono will never get us to where we want o be, the most he can do is motivate this team to MAYBE one and done again in the playoffs, The parcells wall needs to come falling down, its now fairly obvious that with good old bailin bill gone, strapono has become just an average to mediocre coach and doesnt have that mental fortitude needed to be THE man making decisions in miami!!!!

EXACTLY!

on 2nd thought rex has been in their...NO THANKS!!!!

Just to be clear Henne is 14-12 as a starter and completes more than 60% of his passes. That alone will keep him employed in the NFL for the next 10 years.
Remember the NFL needs 31 losing QB's per season.
Just ask Marino, Jim Kelly, Phillip Rivers, Matt Schaub, Aaron Rogers, Matt Hasselback, Matt Ryan etc.

Bigalfy,
Henne needs A true competitor at the QB position, i've said it before if MR. roboto stays with guys like ramsey and thiggy sitting behind him, he will never feel true heat of being benched in this offense, and im still thinking what we've seen from henne is what we are going to see from him his entire career in the NFL. INCONSISTANCY!!!!

So whats a foot here? LOL

They will not let Henne go... No way. He is a second round pick and has proved he can at the very least be a bask up in this league and he may (I'm not holding my breath) do better in a different system with a O-Co who does not muddle Henne's thinking with BS. No matter what, however... THEY MUST get an insurance policy in the form of a QB out of this draft. If they try and fix it with a FA that is NOT someone like Orton, Kolb or Possibly even one of the guys doing well this year as a back up.. The kid in Green Bay (Name fails Me) played great last week when in for Rogers... Guys like that end up getting traded for picks/etc..

Ya never know... I still believe until Miami bites the bullet and goes first round, and say's "This is OUR GUY"... we are just pulling our lariats......

Henne is GARBAGE!!!!!!!!!!!
BASURA!!!!!

I ran out of TP, so I reached for my henne jersey. Oops.

this little piggy cries wee wee wee all the way home.

we will see sunday when he throws a couple more picks.

Weeeeeeeeeeee!!!!Weeeeeeeeeeee!!!!!
Weeeeeeeeeeee!!!!!!!!weeeeeeeeeeee!!!!!!

im going to have myself a ham sandwich!

PORK,HELP

If we Trade Henne for a Pile of Horse Shi-t, we would have the better end if the deal.

Henne Sucks More than my Dyson Vacuum.

The more I listen to Sparano, the more I think he's not going to change. If and when Henning leaves, he'll probably replace him with someone similar. Unless Ross does something about it.....just my thoughts...

Someone call Cleo Lemon!!!
Tell him we got a Bigger Lemon!

Get Feidler back in Miami cuz we have Nobody at QB.
I wonder if Culpepper can forgive us and just finish the season for us. Or maybe Pat white can break his contract and come back.
Someone bench henne, tell him to stay home.don't bother coming at all.

I MISS MY HERO TED GINN ,WHEN HE WAS HERE WE HAD EXCITEMENT .

THIS BLOG WITHOUT ODIN AND DB IS LIKE A MOTER MISSING HER CHILD,IS LIKE A DOG MISSING HIS PUPPY ,IS LIKE A CAT MISING HER KITTEN .

Henne is a bum. Brandon Marshall was stating the obvious. What Marshall really meant is Henne sucks and sorry we have to keep kicking field goals eveyr game. Marshall was being honest. Henne took that to heart because he knows he is player wise the biggest problem period.

As far as Sparano and his second level blocking and negative plays, shut up! You need to get fired this year. Let Mike Nolan a coach and the only one on this staff who has done their job this year be promoted or go with a winner like Cowher.

Sparano's job is the offensive line and they are part of the problem. They invested so much into the unit and they are average at best. He failed to coach them up, get the best out of players and develop young players. Don't credit Sparano for Jake Long's play. Jake Long was a #1 overall pick and he plays like one and acts like one. Sparano has Miami stuck in neutral and regressing.

Another note on second level "blocks". How about running someone over Ronnie? You don't break any tackles and when you too you slow down so much the next guy gets you anyway. You had a sparkle when you started now you are just garbage.

AND NJ , HOW CAN PUT ALL THE BLAME ON HENNE ALONE,WHAT ABOUT THE OL WHICH DID COAST US 29 MILLION A YEAR INCL THE MARSHALL 10 MILLION A YEAR W/2 TD EVEN NICKS OF THE GIANTS HAS 11 TD AND HERNANDAZ OF NEW ENGLAD HAD 2 TD'S IN ONE GAME VS CHI LAST WEEK .

P.S....B/MARSHALL TOPS THE LIST AT NO 3 ON THE LIST OF WR WHO DROPPED 11 BALLS SO FAR THIS YEAR

ALoco,

Get a clue! Henne blows!

Good post Andy NJ.
Skip the BS and bring in Cowher already and send sperano and all his number crunching and all his excuses to Wamby Pamby Land.
Henne,Henning,sperano are Garbage.

If Brady was throwing to Marshall then Marshall would have Plenty of TD passes.
Henne is at Fault. He's not worthy of the position! Henne Has to GO!!!!!

YOU KNOW THERE'S LIST FOR PLAYERS WHO DROPS THE FOOTBALL ?

TOPS THE LIST AT NUMBER 3 , THE HONORABLE B.MARSHALL WITH 11 BALLS ............................A RECORD FOR A FIN PLAYER

Good point Aloco.
Because I want henne out of town ill just have to say his spin on the ball sucks too.
That's why Marshall drops plenty.lol
Sorry I gotta come up with something.

IT'S EASY TO BALME ONE PERSON THIS SEASON OF 1-6 AT HOME WHO COULD HAVE PREDICTED THAT ?

THE HONORABLE FASANO DROPPED ABOUT 6 BALLS AND GOT A NEW CONTRACT AND PLAYED ONLY ONE GAME REAL GOOD ALSO AND HARTLINE DROPPED 7 BALLS .BESS PLAYED GOOD ONLY TWO GAMES AND GOT A NEW CONTRACT .

TOM BRADY AFTER THE CHI GAME ...( WE ALL HERE TO WIN GAMES ,THAT'S OUR JOB IS TO WIN GAMES ,PERIOD ) END OF QUOTE .

I'm shocked to see that there are still Fans who would give henne more time to grow up.
This Guy is a Bad QB! Henne is a Coward in the pocket! Henne does not abandon the called play even if his Life was on the line. His check downs SUCK!
He runs crappy.
He Holds on too long!
Henne is No NFL QB...

BLAME

Before we seriously examine possible free agents. We need to figure out who is going to be our offensive coordinator. What type of personality will this coordinator bring to this unit. What will be our identity? This is important because the only identity out offense has now is inept. I think free agents can begin signing with teams in early March. I hope that the day after the Super Bowl we have a guy hired, and we can move forward and seriously take a look at some new pieces.

After Henne was asked If he had what it takes to make it in the NFL longterm?
Henne Answer: "I Just Wanted To Knit Sweaters".

TOM BRADY IS THE HIGEST PAID NFL PLAYER IN HISTORY WITH HIGEST ANNUL SALARY OF 18 MILLION FOR NEXT 4 YEARS .48 MILLION GUARANTEED .

SECOND HIGEST AVERAGE ANNUL SALARY IS ELI MANNING W/16 MILLION A YEAR

If cowher says giants, miami, houston, then he must think henne is in the same category as eli and shuab. So he think he can make henne a winning qb. Obviously he thinks more highly of him than orton. He probably like miami weather and our defense.

Henne showed some grit last season and had a couple good games but up into the 2nd or 3rd week I started to notice something wrong with his body expressions... sounds stupid i know but have you ever seen a guy that obviously went out the night before and partied and is paying the price for it the next day well I noticed Henne would be profusely sweating in like the 1st QT and and he was pale and slushed at the same time... hwe just didn't look healthy during the games. Honestly for a couple weeks there i thought the guy was on drugs

I DO BELIEVE HENNE IS UNDER ORDERS FROM THE DICTATORS SPARANO AND HENNING NOT TO MAKE MISTAKES , WITH NEW OC I HOPE THEY MUST LET HIM PLAY LOOSE AND RELXED .

Hope our next OC has a offensive system that conforms to our offensive players. Not like the present one that needs players that conform to the system.

Heck, if Big Rex gets canned for foot fetishes, he can come here. I like the guy (Maybe that's a sin for a Dolfan, but he is a good coach). He'd keep Nolan, too.

Besides, his wife is kinda hot. And has nice feet.
