Preparation for Lions Wednesday: The highlights

Another day, another dollar for the Dolphins.

Here are some highlights of what is happening:

ILB Karlos Dansby (toe) missed practice today. Coach Tony Sparano said he simply wanted to rest the player.

Quarterback Chad Henne, he of the 14 TDs and 16 INTs, apparently has a pretty good grasp on his 2010 production so far.

"It's been up and down," Henne said. "Tough road. But at times I felt I've improved on a lot of things from last year -- some decison-making. But there is some good improvement I feel I've made and some strides. But there's stuff I have to work on and I'll evaluated in the offseason."

Henne offered somewhat of a better explanation why he didn't agree with Brandon Marshall when the receiver apologized to his defensive teammates after Sunday's 17-14 loss to Buffalo.

"I just keep relating back that you win or lose as a team," he said. "Obviously, offensively we could have done things better and scored more points and executed better. We're disappointed we didn't score more points and didn't execute, but apologies to our teammates ... I guess I don't know if I'd let a defensive player come in here and say something. I wouldn't accept that. I just think we win or lose as a team."

I believe Henne means he would not require or want an apology from a defensive player if, at some point, the defense played poorly and the offense carried the team.

In case you're wondering, Henne is expected to be the starter for Miami the last two games of the season, barring an unforeseen situation. Sparano is apparently thinking he wants to give Henne more chances to improve.

"I think you to continue and develop Chad," Sparano said. "We'll see where we are in these football games. If there's a point maybe you might be able to do something like that, you think about it. But right now we want to continue to develop Chad."

Speaking of the running game ...

Sparano was asked today what he believes is the biggest problem with the disappointing Miami running game.

Second-level blocking," he said. "I think we've been able to block them good through the first level. I don't think we've done a good enough job blocking linebackers ... I think the second-level blocking is where to me is where we've had the biggest struggles."

Sparano says the Dolphins haven't suffered minus runs to any worrisome degree. He cited some statistic that claims the Dolphins have had the third-fewest negative plays in the NFL. I have not seen any such stats. But it's getting past the defensive linemen that Sparano says Miami has problems.

"It's the difference between a 3 yard run and a 7 yard run," he said.

Of course, that says nothing for the third-level blocking that turns 7 yard runs into 57 yard runs. Haven't seen enough of those this year, either.

The longest run by Ronnie Brown this year is 51 yards. His next longest run is 17 yards. The longest run by Ricky Williams is 45 yards. His next longest run is 23 yards.

IF OUR COACHES ARE HAPPY AS REX WE WOULD BE IN THE PLAYOFFS .

sparano had been trained by parcells to tow the company line. even with the season lost, he won't put in young players and try another quarterback. these guys just can't admit they are wrong (with henning being the prime example). i hate this regime! sparano is supposedly an offensive line guru? yet we have one of the worst offensive lines in the nfl.
and, they take a guy with a previously broken leg in the first round and pass on dez bryant and earl thomas? these guys overanalyze things. if they guy is a stud in college, he will probably be a good pro. yet, sparano thinks he can find hidden gems at the senior bowl. are you kidding me? if you are playing in the senior bowl, you haven't proven yourself worthy of a first round pick on the field.

another point. the decision to get rid of ted ginn was TERRIBLE. he would have been an excellent returner (i would rather have a guy run out of bounds at the 35 then get tackled at the 18), and he would have provided somewhat of a deep threat. this would have helped marshall a lot. but parcells and these guys just want to bury the past and move on from cameron's mistakes. look, he wasn't a good pick at 9 overall. but to discard him for a 5th round pick when he clearly could have helped us? total ignorance. in contrast, they insisted on trying to make jason allen a starting cornerback, and we know how that turned out.

By the way, I read they are giving free yomulkas to Jewish Patrons to promote Dolphins games.

I suck at predicting draft picks who are going to do well in the NFL(I was very enthusiastic about Ted Ginn after watching him on You Tube).

But I remember the good ones: from my beginning, Joe Thomas who built the Fins SB years, the guy at Pittsburgh(dont know his name) he of the Steel Curtain, Jimmy Johnson was very gifted in that respect, Belichick is it he or somebody in the organization, and so on. Ah, San Francisco 49'ers.

Why is it that when I write something nobody answers? Hmmm...

If you are not compromised, Internet provides a medium where you can give out your most liberal opinions. Take advantage of it now for it will not last long(as it should).

, Whatever we do in this draft I don't care, but, our first round pick has to be a skill position, hopefully a rb. We need to bump ronnie to 2nd rb, and let ricky, lex and sheets duke it out for the rest

All the rest of our picks should be ol, draft 8 lineman and let everyone tryout for the line, and let's determine the line before week 1 this time

Miami defines Boring to Watch....hilarious article, but unfortunately too true a statement. The only people that dont think miami is BAD or dismal to watch play the game of football are the people currently in charge of heading this organization...which is truly a pathetic sight for sure. I would take $$$ down bets right now that when the NFL does resume play, the LIONS and BILLS will have more prime time showings and more hooplah then this team will have in the next two years if we dont weed out the bad seeds after this season.

It Ends Sunday Miami 34 Detroit 10

Aloco.!!!..I just had a meatball sub...and i turned to my friend and said that Aloco would be proud...me gusta mucho..!!!!

SuperPhin...100% correct..we are a BORING team to watch...last year we were awesome to watch...how good was the game we lost by a tiny margin against the COLTS...we played tight and well...defense let us down...we are very very much worse this year...I just think Sparano has gone into his shell...I think he has lost his MOJO

I was a lot more positive about where we were going LAST YEAR....what has happened???...I really feel that HENNE was a better player last year

Im in Australia...when u guys get up remember...we need a complete overhaull offensively...how will we achieve that?..the OL is near non existant..its laughable how bad it is..I think that is Sparanos major problem..how does he ESPLAIN that??...He is meant to be an OFFENSICE GENIUS...yet his line is wafer thin and non operational...Thiggy got murdered....

"I just think we win or lose as a team."
Yeah, bright boy and when the spark plug on a car keeps fouling out, the car does not run properly until that spark plug gets replaced! Watch!!!
