I had to go pick myself off the floor before I could get around to posting this so please forgive the delay. New York Jets coach Rex Ryan was just on a conference call with the South Florida media and he was routinely interesting. The guy simply has a compelling way of grabbing and keeping one's attention.
But ...
Sometimes Ryan shoots past the the line separating saying things that are interesting and saying things that are just crazy. He was clearly in crazy territory today when he called the Dolphins offense "outstanding" and "loaded."
"The Miami offense is far from being poor," Ryan said. "That's an outstanding offense. You have two great running backs, a young quarterback that always plays great against us, for some reason. I was hoping they'd bench him for our game. To be honest with you, you have the big wide out, Brandon Marshall.
"This is a team that's loaded."
Huh?
To be real with you, please understand the Dolphins are ranked No. 29 in the NFL in points per game. Some fans and media (me included) believe offensive coordinator Dan Henning is not doing a good job. And quarterback Chad Henne was benched earlier this season, if only for three plays.
And Ryan expects us to believe he believes they're good? C'mon, man!
If Ryan truly believes the Dolphins offense is loaded then he must think the coaching staff is doing a terrible job with that talent because the results have been poor. Ryan doesn't thinnk Miami is terribly coached. He said as much.
So, he was just blowing smoke, right?
To his credit, Ryan turned off his coachspeak filter later in the session when he was talking about his own defense. In fact, he was extremely hard on his No. 8-ranked defense.
"We have to play better, there's no question about that," Ryan said. "We have to tackle better. We're not making any plays. We're not getting any interceptions. We're just out there. It doesn't seem like we've been as successful. I think we're eighth in th league in defense which is poor for our standards. We have to get it going better. Our communication hasn't been great ..."
So it sounds like the Miami offense is poised to pummel the Jets defense, right coach?
"... this is a big challenge this week," Ryan said, "but I think our guys will respond, I really do."

Mrs. Doris Wilson,
The Dolfans nation sends its deepest most sincere condolences. We see you have yet to fully get over the very untimely of your now departed former husband. We'll all miss ole Wet Willie.
Again, our deepest sympathies. PS> Nothing like keeping the mop boys busy eh Mrs. Wilson!

Mrs. Doris Wilson,
Just for my own notes. Come on now you can tell me. Is it the public peeing you enjoy most or is just really an uncontrollable fetish for mop boys?
I once had a friend that enjoyed starting fires but it wasnt the fires he enjoyed most. It was the bright red fire engines and extremely long and tubular fires hoses.
Its ok to tell the truth Mrs Wilson. We dont condemn anyone here.

I've dated Pats fans, never a Jet's fan. In fact I had a GF that SWITCHED from a Fins fan to a Pats fan during the 1-15 season, as her dad was from Boston!
What a lack of character! She always had the hots for JT, and when we shipped him and Welker out, well, she switched...I suppose I can't blame her, if I had a good excuse I would too! (that was a joke...Kind of)

I dont know why everyone thinks its so difficult to get a quarterback. All it takes is making a 75 cents puschase and handing the cashier a dollar. Just like clockwork you'll always get a quarterback.
It isnt rocket science you know. Geesh!

I hate to admit it but I agree with Rex, we have talent on offense. We just need the right OC to tap the talent and potential.
Henning is clearly not a good fit anymore with our current cast of offensive players. How about McDaniels?

ross needs to be looking for a new hc,oc and qb. if this guy had any smarts at all and wanted to become a contender in the nfl he would let those guys go. the article about if sparano and ireland stay forget about newton is ridiculous. again it does not take a qb years to develop. those jokers have to go. the dolphins season is over, and if henne remains the qb for next season, then next season is already over too!

if those fools end up staying and they don't get newton or mallet, then they better make a strong push for v. young. exactly no playoffs. last year, no playoffs. same sh$t.

Paris (CNN) -- New World Order HAARP created heavy snow paralyzed travel in the Paris region Wednesday, where officials suspended air traffic at one of Europe's busiest airports, closed several highways and shut down the Eiffel Tower.
The resulting traffic jams set a new record. According to the National Center for Highway Information, snarled traffic lined 420 kilometers of roadways around the capital.

Miami WILL FIRE Sparano and Ireland. Stephen Ross obviously isn't an X and O's guy. He is however a smart man and wants this team to be fun and exciting and take on the persona of the city of Miami. Miami needs to get fans excited and nothing excites fans more then offense even though we all know offense is just one facet of the game but it is exciting and that is what Stephen Ross wants. Does Sparano excite anyone? No. I think Stephen Ross will FIRE SPARANO and bring in an offensive minded cordinator. The next Miami Head Coach will be Jon Gruden. You heard it here first!

mike francesa, a big shot sports radio/tv host out of nyc said "the jets are playing a bad miami dolphin team sunday". he doesnt think it will be a game. sure hope we can suprise them;sparano needs to watch the pats/jets game over and over to see how its done.

I don't know why everyone forgets about what Jon Gruden did in Oakland before going to Tampa Bay. He built that team into a contender that made the AFC championship game, and lost to the Pats in that infamous "Tuck Rule Game" Those teams were pretty good. If you are going to rip him for Tampa Bay, you have to give him Kudos for Oakland. Do you guys realize how hard it is to win in Oakland with the crazy owner getting in the way? The Raiders have been horrible since he left.To be fair the players Callahan took to the Super Bowl were Grudens guys. So all of you that use the Dungy Tampa excuse, he built a Super Bowl team as well. Also, Gruden can teach quarterbacks how to play. Chris Simms took the Bucs to the playoffs.....Chris effin Simms.
Anyway I personaly don't think Sparano is going anywhere so all this Gruden talk is just more jibber jabber. But I don't think anyone should be upset if he were to eventually land here.

THE MAN WHO CHOOSE TRAINS OVER THE JETS COMING UP ON CBS AFTER THE COMMERCIAL .
Posted by: ALoco | December 08, 2010 at 06:54 PM
R&R not a fan of Jon? I think he is an excellent coach. He made the Raiders a winner and also did what Tony Dungy couldn't do in Tampa Bay. Coaching is his strength. Gruden just had too much say in drafting players. That was where he failed but clearly not as a coach.
So he might need some successful college scouts and proven talent evaluators. But don't knock his offensive genious
