Dolphins introducing offensive coordinator at 12:30 p.m

The Dolphins have called a 12:30 press conference today to introduce their new offensive coordinator.

I assume there will no suprises and Brian Daboll will meet with the South Florida media.

The fact this availability is even happening is interesting. You'll remember last year the team hired Mike Nolan as the new defensive coordaintor and had no such availability. You'll recall for three years the team has signed free agent after free agent and not made any of them available (Brandon Marshall made himself available last year).

So why the change now?

Are the Dolphins worried about the negative reaction to Daboll because he comes to Miami from the Cleveland Browns, a team that scored fewer points than Miami the last two years? Do the Dolphins want to use this opportunity to turn the negative tide on a coach so he gets a fair shot before he calls his first play for the team?

Or have Tony Sparano and Jeff Ireland decided the way they've been doing business the past three years -- in a bunker and away from publicity -- no longer is the right way to do business now that Bill Parcells is gone?

Or is this perhaps a sign that Sparano and Ireland -- obviously weakened by last season's 7-9 record and the Parcells departure -- having to succumb to the wishes of the business side of the organization? Parcells never had to do that but, obviously, he's Bill Parcells. Now that Parcells is gone, has the business side of the organization overtaken the football side as having more power thus is dictating media availabilities to the football side?

I seriously doubt these particular questions will be answered.

But believe me, the question why the policy change will be asked.

I will be tweeting the more interesting points of the press conference in real time. Follow me on twitter.

Hey, I might be moving to St. Mary, which would be a perfect place for a guy who wears dresses.

Cowkilla and Kris, thanks for remembering my crazy rant yesterday. I just couldn't help myself. This blog was full of pissing, moaning , and crying about Daboll being the new OC and I could just hear Marshall saying "Daboll? Daboll? Yea man, give me da ball!". It had to be said, I guess. Thanks, guys.

THAT'S FUNNY TRACY474, FIRST TIME SEE THAT POST ...

wt?.lol

Cowkilla, I'm thinking of opening up a gay bar in St. Mary. Do you believe there will be enough people, such as yourself, who would come?

cowtippa,
It's actually a friend's condo. She owns it. I own a condo in Maitland. Never again will I buy...

Well, at least it wasn't Ricky in my head saying "Daboll? Daboll? Yeah man, give me da bowl!" Lol!

ARMANDO ASKED DOBALL THIS QOUESTION.... HOW MUCH OF WHAT HAPPENEDIN CL IS YOUR FAULT ? DOBALL SAID ,I AM MOVING FORWARD .

SNEAKY QUESTION

Kris,

Are you trying to imply that I'm posting under pete? Do tell.....'cause I want to get any misconception of this cleared up right now. I don't know the guy, never met the guy....but yes, I happen to agree with him.

Lets get Armando involved right now if this is what you're trying to imply. it's just ANOTHER guy who has a different opinion than you and you're trying to discredit him...

Come on, let's hear what you're really trying to say....

Craig and Kris sitting in a tree...

Jeff_Darlington Daboll: "We're going to do whatever we need to do to give ourselves a chance. We're going to try to attack the weaknesses of a defense."

Oh, the irony! Using Brees as an example of what we need at QB. Obviously, all of us would love to have Brees. The ironic part is, if we did draft Brees, most of you would have wanted to run him out of town after his first 2 years. His numbers in his first 2 years are very similar to Henne's. Brees' QB ratings were 76.9 and 67.5. The Chargers as a team in '02 & '03 were a combined 12-20.

Will Henne turn himself into a good NFL QB? I dont know. And neither do any of you. Give him one more to find out

For those of you that missed it, you can check out my rant on yesterday's blog-from-hell at 01:37 pm.
I gotta admit...it's funny, if I do say so myself.

Keep hearing Daboll only mentioning Bess and Marshall's names. Ricky, Ronnie, and Hartline's staying must be offseason(draft/fa) acquisitions dependant.

Also says he will be spending LOTS of time working personally with Henne. Will be giving Henne audible responsibilities, Bess and Marshall will be moved around to create mismathes, will add wider variety of formations and shifts.

Above all it sounds like Henne will be given every opportunity to be the starter in 2011. Though he's not being proclaimed 2011 starter, basically for now the job's still his too lose.

Brees did suck his first 2 years, but, have you SEEN Henne play?

WE GOT TO BE EXCITED ABOUT DOBALL ,GIVE DOBALL A CHANCE .HE'S A GREAT GUY AND WILL HIT THE GROUND RUNNING......PLAYOFFS

Rick, you rather spend a 1st round pick for Kolb than draft a 1st round grade qb? Your last name wouldn't be Spielman, would it?

News Flash:

None of us "Bloggy Creek" gm's can forcast what the offseason truly brings. The mud's too slippery and our tires are too deep! LOL.......

No Craig.....i'm not saying that at all....when I thought you were posting under a differnt name I called you on it...outright on this board.....this instance would be no differnt if I thought it was you.....

The only thing I said about you was easy to read....and it had your name in it.....it wasn't rude or disrespectful....its just been my experince in having a difference of opinion with you.....nothing more and nothing less

Can't believe that the fans of Miami's spend SO much time bad mouthing the players and the coaches. This is what fans do? They did win 7 games last year....they MUST have done something right. Not saying we have a lot to be excited about after last season but seriously, it can't ALL be doom and gloom. What must the blogs be like in Buffalo and Cleveland for example? and don't you think the fans in Detroit are on cloud 9 right now after finishing 6-10, won game worse than us. How about the fans in St. Louis? Same record as us...

I don't know, I'm either supporting the wrong team or hanging out in the wrong places. Just don't get how every day can be the same stupid conversations....

SAY GOODBY TO ;

HARTLINE
R.BROWN
FASANO

Who were you trying to imply pete was then, kris?

Kris, I don't know how to explain to Craig that the Qb is the most important position on the team and covers up so many other weaknesses. I mean, it's blatantly obvious and the fact is most QBs in this league were 1st round grade draft picks. Still the guy doesn;t see that the most likely way to solve that problem is to continually spend a 1st pick on a qb until you get it right - however - he wants to win with the Trent Dilfers and Brad Johnsons of the world or believe that we can turn a 6th round draft pick into a super bowl winner even though it's only been done once in the modern era. Go figure.

GRIAG M ,

THESE ARE NOT FANS, SOME ARE PIMPS AND THE OTHERS ARE FRY COOKS .

Mark in Toronto,

Just want to clarify a couple of things. This team drafted Chad Henne three years ago as arguable the THIRD best QB in the draft that year. Some said he was better than Flacco but most would agree he was the third best QB in the draft. I will also grant you that he probably wasn't a first round QB. The part i'm having a tough time is that you want the team to draft a QB in the first round this year and at BEST we're likely to get the third best QB again. And if you read you right, you want this team to KEEP drafting a guy in the first round until they get it right. How long are you going to give the guy THIS year to show whether he has it or not?

Mel Kiper's mock draft has us taking Mark Ingram at 15th. I know you can place little accuracy at all into Kiper's predition, however, it shows that even the "big haired one" realizes Ingram is a huge upgrade to Ronnie Brown.

Personally Im now a little more favoring trading back if "IF" the opportunity for gaining a 2nd rd pick exists.

What does anyone think they are going to hear at the BS press circus anyways?

How about telling us all the facts for once.

FACTS;

The fins with the addition to this Cleveland REJECT along with the fist pumper Sparino and the (is your mom a Prostitute) GM should be telling us all that our projected 2011 record will be 3 - 13 and if we get Lucky, 5 -11.

FACTS;
We will NOT draft a QB in the first round unless he sucks or name is Pat White or Hannie or Chad.

FACTS;
We promise the fans that we will fulfill what owner ROSS demanded which is an explosive offense. We will do that by throwing INT's and fumbling the ball.. Oh, also we will make sure that the wildcat is used on key plays to insure we fail and throw our QB out of rhythm.

Finally, we promise to make you all so sick that you puke all over yourselves so much that ROSS goes bankrupt and the Dolphin franchise as we all know it will be destroyed or moved to Detroit with the rest of the misfits..

Craig M....look above your post for my response to you....I didn't read your whole post to me...because I didn't want to get in to a war of negativity before I posted back....

Now that I have...I got to ask....since our "feud" lol has begun....

I have stated in print....

that I respect your football knowledge....

that I we are both passioniate about our views but we see thing completly oppisite this time....

and that I have agreed with you in the past.....

Just today I said your not a bad guy...or something like that.....but you are very bull headed

but you know what Craig M......you have not once posted a single middle of the road/i'm giving some ground.....type post back to me....

and now your showing signs of paranoia....

You only prove what I am saying...with you there is no middle ground....only right (YOU) and wrong (EVERYONE WHO DOESN'T AGREE WITH YOU)....

Its not personal man....its a football blog....

COWHER THE HYENA

For the record, I'm not anyone else. Not even sure what this stupid conversation is about.

ALoco,

You hit the nail on the head buddy! This blog does seem more of a collection of PIMPS and Fry Cooks than a Fan Base. LOL.............

Mark in Toronto,

Don't twist my words...that's not what I'm saying. what I'm saying is there are just as many first round QB busts in the NFL as success stories. You make the argument that 2/3 of the QBs startig are first round QB's but I think you're fudging that a bit because some are playing out of necessity. I'll argue with you that Alex Smith shouldn't be a starter, there are questions as to whether Tim Tebow should be starting and there are questions as to whether Vince Young should be starting. Some might even question whether Donovan McNabb should be starting....bounced from one organization, soon to be another. I'll argue with you that Russell is out of the league, Leinart on the bench, Quinn on the bench, Losman on the bench, Carr on the bench. The list could go on.

I won't argue with you that the QB is the most important player on the team. I will argue with you that there are different ways to get there and that your QB doesn't have to carry the team. Joe Flacco gets his team to the playoffs every year. Sanchez the last two.

While I agree that the policy change is a legitimate area of inquiry, and that the questions MUST be asked,

the bottom-line (at first blush) is that IT IS GOOD if this indicates more a more open business model.

aloco. what's the gang of defeat think.?.lol

GUYS... FANS TALK ABOUT FOOTBALL,FANS CHEERS FOR THEIR TEAM ,FANS ARE HAPPY TO CHEER FOR THEIR PLAYERS ... ACT LIKE FANS .

DB,

THANK YOU

Craig, the answer is you give every guy you draft 3 years to show if he has anything - not draft a qb every year, I mean draft one in the 1st round - if there is one there - when it doesn't look like the previous one will pan out.

San Diego played this beautifully up to a point with the Drew Brees era - his 1st 2 years sucked so they drafted/traded for Rivers. Brees gets to stay around and lo and behold he sets the world on fire. PERFECT! You have a great Qb and a franchise QB in waiting. What San Diego didn't do right was parlay Brees into a lot of good draft picks. Cutler trade says they should've got 2 1sts and a2nd.

So I say if Ryan Mallett is one the board - we take him. if Henne comes in and becomes the next Drew Brees, even better. You franchise Henne after the year and take offers on either QB on the roster. You HAVE to cover your arse on the QB position.

If Henne comes back to stink next year - then we are 2 years away from having an heir apparent play because most 1st round qbs are not ready to play in year 1.

Are you an agent for mid level veteran QBs looking for work in the NFL??? becuase I don't know anyone else who is opposed on having a potentially elite player on the Dolphins' roster who plays the most important position. Aren't you sick of passing on Brees, Rodgers,a nd Ryan just because QB drafting is a "crapshoot". You know what, we keep crapping out because we won't take that chance - enough with the loser mentality. YOU GOT TO GO FOR IT!!!

Si j'étais sur "The Price Is Right" Je voudrais demander Drew Carey si je pouvais toucher son pénis.

kris,

I'm not taking it personally, honest. I'm passionate about ny team, just as you are. The fact that we disagree and that I disagree with others is fine. We all want success for our team and that is great.

You made a comment that said someone else is posting under pete. If it was directed at me, i'd like to know who it was directed at. Thanks.

Craig M,

Why do you keep spinning your wheels trying too change some of these guys minds in here? Does it make sense to pour fresh paint into a rusty bucket? LOL................

Oh boy brian daboll............Ross is purposely sabotaging this team, by keeping the two remaining morons and letting them hire this new dud. Los angeles dolphins anyone?

NOT YOU CRAIG M....I JUST PUT IT IN PRINT FOR YOU AND EVERYBODY ELSE TO READ....IF I THOUGHT IT WAS YOU....I OULD HAVE SAID IT WAS YOU.....

JUST LIKE WHEN I TALKED TO MARK IN TORONTO ABOUT YOU......

Nobody is scared of you Craig M....and If I had someting to say....about YOU....I WILL SAY IT ABOUT YOU.....

WTF is wrong with you man????

This just in Craig......The world DOESN'T revolve around YOU....

Unlike you I try to learn peoples style of writing....instead of just lumping everyone into the same catagory as you have done with me....and proved many times with your inaccurate quotes.....that you tried to attribute to me...... which every time I prove you wrong...

Sorry for the CAPS...but you have a hard time understanding things

2WATT,

ANG OF DEFEAT WENT BACK TO IT'S DUNGEN SINCE THE HYENA WASN'T HIRED .

MARK IN TORONTO, WE WILL GIVE HENNE ANOTHER YEAR B/C IT'S THE NORM TO DO SO NOT GIVE UP ON A QB WHO HAS A RECORD OF 500

Who cares about past policy at this point? You might ask Sparano how he failed to even remotely grasp that this hire was make or break for him as a HC.

Instead of going out with guns blazing he's looking like he'll go out shooting the dirt thru his holster.

Kris, back to your comment before. Being as this is a CBA year, I don't think that trashing the whole offensive system would be a good idea. Continuity may be our only hope. Daboll likes to use more of a spread offence that a lot of the younger QBs can relate to. But, he bases it off of the system that we already have in place and that the players are already familiar with. Expect to see some new wrinkles in our offence, like 4 WR sets, multiple TEs, etc. Things that Henning never used. Also, Chap Pennington is high on the guy. Says he's the one that taught him how to read a defence and pick it apart. I'm staying hopeful until I see different. I mean, what else can we do? We, the fans, really have no choice in the matter.

If there are so many ways of getting a QB to play at the NFL level than why are more than 2/3 of the starters 1st round picks?

Why were 7 of the top 10 rated Qbs 1st round picks?

Why were the Qbs of 8 of the 12 playoff teams 1st round picks?

These are trends man, wake up, follow it and stop being so friggin stubborn.

Ok, I have more important things to do now, good day.

Follow that up with a question about which of Daboll's former proteges can be expected to come in and compete with Henne for the starting job?
a) Derek Anderson
b) Brady Quinn
c) Jake Delhomme
d) Seneca Wallace
e) all of the above

Mark in Toronto,

Really like your post at 1:10pm (now you should be scared....LOL). I fully agree with what you are saying and don't misread what I'm saying about not wanting an elite QB to run the show. The problem is they are very hard to find. I find one of the problems with this organization is they do a VERY poor job helping and devloping their QBs. John Beck, Pat White, Chad Henne, even Tyler Thigpen. Is Thigpen any better than when we got him? No. You'll tell me it's because he's not elite and part of that is true. Others will say they do a poor job of evaluating the position. That may be true too. I have no problem with what you are proposing, my only problem is this isn't the year to do it. We have no second round pick, we have other holes on offence to fill and with a lockout it's likely that the 1st rounder would get little or no work with the offence or QB coach. So I say bring Henne back, bring a vet in to compete and if this guy is as bad as everyone says, let's draft a QB in the first next year when the talent is supposed to be better.

Aloco..playoffs? Man you are really sacked out today man...did you sniff Home's arse chemtrails???

So kris,

Again.....because APPARENTLY I am the only one on her who has a problem reading, who is it that you were implying was posting under 'pete'. Why is this a hard question to answer?

Craig M.....I don't want to fight with you man...I really don't.....

I do like debate....and I hope we can continue our debate on a more civil level.....

Having said that....the problem with debating with you is that I have found that there is no give with you.....that might work fine for the debate team...but in real life common sense has to kick in....for both of us.....

If someone on here makes a good or great point.....even though there view may be opposite of mine....before I strike it down O have to consider it....I actally want somebody with the skills to change my opinion.....

Pete is either Home or Aloco ...possibly they are all the same person...we already know Home is a crackhead

T Martin,

Yes, I think one of those guys will get a shot in Miami next year, likely Quinn or Anderson. Now that may not make people happy but the pickings are pretty slim. Maybe Miami will get Brady Quinn after all....LOL.

Si yo estuviera en "The Price Is Right " Quisiera pedir a Drew Carey si podía tocar su pene.

There you go.....one track mind Craig M.....can't see the forest thru the trees....

Civil Schmivill...fight it out...I got $100 on kris

COW, I DO LIKE YOU , WHY YOU USE UGLY LANGUAGE ,WHAT THE URGENT NEED TO DO THAT ?

TO ANSWER YOUR QUESTION, WE WILL SEE ,YOU CAN'T HAVE A MONOPLY ON MY OPINION .

Kris,

See you can't even answer the question. You try and discredit people by suggesting someone else is posting as them but you can't even man up and say who you were claiming was posting under pete, cause it shoots down your credibility....you're pathetic!

cowkilla is pimp .
