Dolphins players and former players have been telling you what they think about all things relative to the franchise in the days since the regular season ended and owner Stephen Ross flirted with the idea of replacing Tony Sparano in a manner that failed protocol.
Former tight end Troy Drayton, who played in Miami from 1996-99, was a guest on Armando and the Amigo on 640-Sports in South Florida and I share with you the interview above.
Drayton shares his opinion of the season. He shares his opinion of the last few weeks (hint: he used the word "fiasco"). I asked him if people like you, the fans, will forgive and forget going forward.
Eventually the conversation turned to Chad Henne. Drayton saw what you saw. "He regressed," he said.
But Drayton has an interesting take on Henne going forward. Drayton also talked about Tyler Thigpen, whom he apparently likes more than Henne at this point.
Click the link and listen.
And come back later as I'll upload an interview we did with former University of Miami, New York Giants, St. Louis Cardinals RB O.J. Anderson. You will appreciate the story he gives you about how Bill Parcells dealt with him back in the day.

I vote for more Popeye and Olive Oil skin flicks during gameday. You would know why Popeyes always so happy if you knew exactly where that Olive Oil was being rubbed!

why would we give childress a look when we're looking to go for a more aggressive style? he lost an entire football team not three months ago, and we do not need to pay this joke to continue with a stagnant offense
and he looks EXACTLY like the clown in airbud

A NOTE ABOUT DOLPHINS HUMILIATIONS NOMINEES:
I thought about including mistakes due to injury (Randill 'Thrill Hill', Yatil Green etc) but that has more to do wiht bad luck than incompetence.
HOWEVER
DOLPHINS NOMINEE #10: Not once but TWICE over the past decade have the Dolphins signed DOCUMENTED THUGS AND FELONS as running back (LAWRENCE PHILLIPS & CECIL COLLINS) only - to be shocked when these DOCUMENTED FELONS REOFFENDED. That's why I was hoping they would sign Maurice Clarrett to complete the set.
retarded.

@ Craig M
I think if you hire Childress who I wouldn`t have a problem given the types of O he likes to run, then give him Mcnabb there`s a comfort level there that would put them ahead of the game to start and we all now he won`t have a problem throwing it all over the field and absolutely making Marshall`s day, in any other scenario we at least get to see Henne pushed and coached alot better cause I for one don`t think we have seen the full package there yet even though I am not sold on him as anything more than maybe serviceable.

Childress still needs a couiple more years of recovery after dealing with that basket case we call Brett Favre. The man hasnt had nearly enough recovery time to began dealing with our basket case called Chad Henne.

11CRASHJENSON -- I DO REMEMBER the JJ/MARINO breakdown.
Let's Broaden it!
DOLPHINS HUMILIATION #11: Throughout the 1999 season legendary 2-time SuperBowl winning coach Jimmy Johnson and all time NFL passing leader Dan Marino were locked in a bitter feud. Long-suffering Dolphins fans put up with the feud and were rewarded with a 62-7 loss against the Jacksonville Jaguars -- the last game Johnson coached and Marino playede.
Fortunately legendary incompetent Dave Wannstedt and legendary backup Jay Fiedler were there to inherit the franchise, ensuring the Dolphins coach and QB remained in good hands.

tdeck,
I fail to see where the optimism is surrounding Thigpen. He showed nothing in that Bears game and the Bears were the team that had to tavel to Miami on a short week. That was showtime and we saw nothing in Thigpen that was impressive.
phinaddict, if both Andy Reid and Mike Shanahan, two of the best offensive minds of our time think that McNabb is done then that's good enough for me. If a condition of Childress' hire is that he bring McNabb to town then Childress isn't our guy.

@ALoco- You never answered my question. Does Grouper head qualify as having multiple s*ex partners?
Posted by: DyingBreed | January 13, 2011 at 01:16 PM
Few want to give Henne a second chance. The thing is he never got a first chance. He'll probably leave the Dolphins and go on to become a good quarterback somewhere else in the NFL. Maybe even in the AFC East. The Dolphins organization can't stop wasting good talent and getting the rejects of the league.

DOLPHINS HUMILIATION #15:
Trading WES WELKER for...SAMSON SATELE and Abraham Wright. (postscript, after stinking up Miami, Satele has apparently had a solid career on the Raiders).
(Apologists might point out that the Dolphins were posed to lose Welker in RFA anyway -- but that speaks to wider incompetence since the Dolphins gave one of their most dynamic playmakers a lowball offer).
retarded.
Posted by: Gary Stevens | January 13, 2011 at 01:21 PM
This is just IMO, ok but the last thing I want to see is Brad Childress.
Ask me exactly why and I'm not sure I can tell.
Perhaps because he is old. He just seems like an A hole. I thought the way he handled Farve was juvenile. How he sent Moss off was stupid and ego driven.
Man, I just hope the Dolphins do not sign Childress.
On top of that, I think his play calling would suffer in Miami.
In the Vikings he had a very good O-line and a top tier RB then Farve arguably the best QB ever.
He would not have any of those things with the Dolphins.
IMO Childress is not very aggressive or dynamic with his play calling. I think it is really the opposite.
And the reason his team looked good offensively is because they were loaded with talent and broke mundane plays into big gains.
That approach has been tried and failed with the Dolphins.
I just don't like Childress to the Dolphins as OC.

DOLPHINS HUMILIATION #16
A combination of Dave Wannstedt incompetence and Ricky Williams lunacy led the former NFL rushing leader to 'retrie' in order to walk barefood across Austrailia and smoke about 47 lbs of weed.
Dave Wannstedt was panicked as a result (SURPRISE) and traded away a THIRD ROUND DRAFT PICK for Rams BACKUP RB LAMAR GORDON (who?.
Gordon, we will all recall rushed for 64 yards as a member of the Miami Dolphins -- part of the 764 yards he amasssed during his illustirous career.

Am I the only one who noticed Mcnabb made Anthony Armstrong who coudn`t get of our prctice squad look like a Pro Bowler this season and while your handing out awards for biggest blunders in team history I`ve got a really bad feeling this one will be remembered, a team with absolutely no deep threat letting a vertical threat like A.A. languish on there Practice team, only to watch him later on sports center !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Posted by: phinaddict | January 13, 2011 at 01:29 PM
Though Troy Drayton wasnt the best Dolphin TE ever he was definitely Miami's most "Explosive"
TE ever. He may hold the Dolphin TE's record for most TE receptions of 40yds or more.
Troy Drayton definitely had big time skate. He was a speed wr in a TE's body!
Posted by: DyingBreed | January 13, 2011 at 01:30 PM
Point is, its not about drafting a guy in the 1st round, its about drafting the right guy.
Posted by: GarbagePlate | January 13, 2011 at 01:30 PM
What's up people?
If Brad Childress is Miami's next OC I think it is a very good move. Childress is a great play caller. I don't think it's a fit for Henne at all though. Short and mid yardage accurate passes in a West Coast offense would never work with Henne. For that matter it don't matter though because Henne is a back up and not someone you should worry about building around or building for. He gets what he gets.
Posted by: Andy NJ | January 13, 2011 at 01:30 PM
I will say, when kris said said he wanted McNabb WEEKS ago (where've you guys been) I said, "he's a west coast guy, so unless you're changing to a west coast offense, he wouldn't be effective."
And presto, now Childress is getting looked at. Kris, your dream might be coming true.
Actually, west coast offense would at least be a new look, so I wouldn't be mad if they did that. But we'd need a Ray Rice-type RB.

DO YOU THINK WE ARE DONE WITH MIAMI DOLPHINS HUMILIATIONS YET!
NOT EVEN CLOSE!
DOLPHINS HUMILIATION #17
During the tour of carnival clowns also known as the 2007 Miami Dolphis Seasons LB Joe Porter ripped in to Cam Cameron for being a 'gutless coward'. Cameron -- smiled, wilted and backed down from his player.
Now let's be clear -- this humiliation does not hinge on the fact that Joey Porter is a selfish a--hole, or that Cam Cameron is a gutless coward (even though both facts are unquestionably true)
Instead it is hinged on the fact that multiple Dolphins took glee in leaking this private meltdown to the press -- and confirming that all-time debacle that the Dolphins had become.
retarded
Posted by: Gary Stevens | January 13, 2011 at 01:34 PM
Donavon McNabb maybe the most politically correct and take the high road qb in nfl history. But last I checked that alone doesnt lead to championship victories. I dont want any guy that chucks up in a SB, he's still like the bridge to nowhere!
Posted by: DyingBreed | January 13, 2011 at 01:35 PM
EXACTLY Garbage, that's the most intelligent thing written on this blog for weeks.
I don't care if you bring him up from the Czech Republic's pee-wee league. Just make sure he's the right guy when all is said and done.

LOL @ DC Dolfan.

Posted by: Andy NJ | January 13, 2011 at 01:35 PM
DB, at least McNabb has gotten CLOSE to a SB. I don't want a guy who can only get to 7-9 every year. Or a guy that can get you to 11-5 and then lose the 1st Playoff game (even though I'd take that too, beggars can't be choosers).

I RECOMMEND YOU TALK ON YOU RADIO SHOW ABOUT ALL THESE FUNNY DOLPHINS HUMILIATIONS .

Posted by: ALoco | January 13, 2011 at 01:37 PM
@ Craig M
It was Shanahan`s son Kyle who fueded with Mcnabb and caused the rift and don`t forget that if not for Vick I wonder how Reid would have felt about that given Kolb`s performance. I am not saying hand him the job but he does have a comprehension of Childress and his O and he would push Henne being that they are similar in there strengths. I believe at the end with all do respect Pennington was not good for Henne, cause he was trying to help him be the type of Q.B. he is and that doesn`t fit with what Henne is.
Posted by: phinaddict | January 13, 2011 at 01:38 PM
Aloco, where do you get your info from? Childress never coached for the Giants and as far as I know never coached Manning in any capacity.
Posted by: cocoajoe | January 13, 2011 at 01:39 PM
Guys, Childress runs the West Coast. The West Coast is a virus. I'd rather not watch football than watch my team play a West Coast offense--it's not real football.

MACNABB BIRTHDAY............. MAY/13/1923
Posted by: ALoco | January 13, 2011 at 01:40 PM
Do you guys realize that hiring Childress as OC means virtually srapping the entire offense? Well it does, Childress is a west coast offense guy. Last I checked we dont have west coast offense pieces on our offensive roster.
Everything not named Jake Long may have to go to make it work efficiently. Pretty much meaning top 5 picks the next 2-3yrs. Ireland/Sparano havent nearly that much time left in Miami with those type team season performances. Hiring Childress would be the final nail in both thier coffins! LOL...........
Posted by: DyingBreed | January 13, 2011 at 01:40 PM
Here's another problem, if you're a QB, and get drafted by Miami, would you want to come? If it was me, I'd pull an Eli. I'd refuse. Who was the last QB who came here whose been successful anywhere in the NFL? Miami is the place QBs go to die.
Posted by: DC Dolfan | January 13, 2011 at 01:41 PM
COACCOJOE. I WAS TALKING ABOUT CHRIS PLAMER
Posted by: ALoco | January 13, 2011 at 01:41 PM
DyingBreed,
You are 100 percent wrong about McNabb. He did lead his team in Philly. He led them to 5 NFC championships with freaking Todd Pinkston, LJ Smith, Duce Staley and a cast of cast offs. He wins games. He never won the big one and only made it to 1 SB but so did our beloved Dan Marino.
I am not comparing him to Marino, don't get me wrong. McNabb is not great but was very good in his career. He does have some weird quirks and a non chalant demeanor but as a player he was one of the better QBs in the league for many years.
He had one of the worst lines in the league last year with no running game for about 12 games, and was throwing to practice squard MVP Anthony Armstrong and Joey Galloway who was outta football last season.
I would take McNabb in the blink of an eye with Childress. McNabb and Childress alone get you 2 to 3 wins this past season. Moving forward is McNabb has at least 2 good seasons to develop someone like Pat Devlin or Colin Kapernick behind him.
I would welcome both Childress and McNabb as a refreshing change for this stagnant offense. Even of McNabb is 35 or 36.

WHERE SHOULD WE GO NEXT FOR DOLPHINS HUMILIATIONS
Jeff Ireland calling Dez Bryant's mom a prostitute?
Losing a game 3-0 to the Stellers on a last minute kick?
Dolphins Owner Stephen Ross trying to neuter the Dolphins early-season home field advantage to make the stadium more comfortable for celbrities.
The fact that adding J-LO to our ownership group was the highlight of the 2010 calendar year.
The Bomamego game?
...so many possibilities...alas I have to run.

DyingBreed,
Miami has to add a QB, RB, TE and speed WR anyway. No matter if Miami plays the freaking run and shoot everyone needs to go lol.
Brandon Marshall and Bess are actually perfect for WC offense.
Posted by: Andy NJ | January 13, 2011 at 01:46 PM
With a very up close week to week view, Shanahan saw something in McNabb he clearly didnt like. I hate to have him come to Miami to fully discover exactly what that was. Dont we have enough qb problems already not to bring in possibly another?
No one ever thought Culpepper was totally washed up before coming here neither. McNabb has clearly been in decline over the last past 2 season and may fal another peg or two once landing him here. Thanks but no thanks!
Posted by: DyingBreed | January 13, 2011 at 01:47 PM
Man, some of you aren't getting it. Look up west coast offense. Childress=west coast offense. McNabb=west coast offense.
Posted by: cocoajoe | January 13, 2011 at 01:47 PM
Please no Kolb deal either. The Eagles will want draft picks and what has he done?
He is great because Reid says so? He looked lost in the game he started.
Though desperately giving draft picks for Kolb is what I expect from Morano and Ireland.
Posted by: Oregon Dolphin fan | January 13, 2011 at 01:49 PM
Armando,
One guy I really would like as OC is Joe Lombardi, he is the QB Coach for the Saints. Has been with them 4 years and has been working with Brees for 2 years now. The guy is young, hungry and comes from one of America's true football families. I'm not saying he made Brees but at least he know everything the guy does. I truly feel any QB we would have drafted or brought in would have failed under our Previous OC and QB coach.. Those guys were a sack of rocks. I'm not saying Henne is our guy but the truth is we really don't know what Henne is truly capable of until he works with some real coaches.

"McNabb and Childress alone get you 2 to 3 wins this past season."
LOL Andy, actually, I heard that exact thing said this preseason on the radio up here in DC (about McNabb, obviously not Childress).
Of course, that's all McNabb gave them, 2,3,4 wins, lol.
But you're right about McNabb having been a good QB. And he might be again in the right situation. I doubt this is it though. I think he goes to Arizona.
