Dolphins player workouts continue this week

I got a bit of a chuckle recently when media outlets around the country reported Bill Parcells is no longer with the Dolphins. Um, he hasn't been with the Dolphins since late October.

I also had to smile when I read that Dolphins players began working out today. Um, that's been happening for a couple of weeks as well and, like the Parcells thing, it really isn't news, either.

To that point, check out the video below filmed by Herald reporter Jeff Darlington. It chronicles the work receivers Davone Bess and Roberto Wallace and other NFL and CFL hopefuls are doing to get bigger, stronger, faster, and ultimately, better.

Brandon Marshall has been training for six weeks. Six weeks!

No, none of the work is happening at the Dolphins training facility in Davie, FL. The players are locked out and so they are not welcome at the training facility. But they are working out at various gyms and workout facilities throughout South Florida.

He's been under the guidance of Fit Speed Sports Performance in Fort Lauderdale. He was recently joined for a workout by Mike Sims-Walker, which has led to rumors the free agenct receiver recently cut loose by the Jacksonville Jaguars, might be trying to make a pitch to Miami's top receiver for a good word with Miami's front office.

I get the feeling Marshall would gladly put in that good work for Sims-Walker.

As you check out the video, notice Bess. He's not the skinny undrafted free agent out of Hawaii any more. The kid has some serious bulk on him these days, moreso than he had even at the end of last season.

Bigafly....thanks.....but I suspected after day 2 of this unprovoked fight with GulfDolphin that it was Aloco......

I just needed a little more proof that they were they same person.....

Today Aloco gave me that proof......

But I do apperciate you having the guts to come out and see those were one-sided un-provoked attacks.....no reasonable person could possibly hold a grudge this about nothing....

But a made up personality could......

You're a lazy fck, Armando.

KRIS,

CALL ON ARMANDO TO BAN ME IF I AM GULFDOLPHIN .......................YOU DUMB AS THEY YOU COME .

Yeah Aloco.....its weird that someone so pissed at me hasn't posted anything back since I figured out you guys were the same person....just like you are many others.....

Its also weird that you both showed up at the same time......

tired of it dude......tired of playing the guessing game...let the Herald figure it out......

OK ,KRIS..... CALL ON ARMANDO TO BAN ME IF I AM GULFDOLPHIN.....

THESE GUYS ARE VERY SMART ,THEY COME WHEN THETY KNOW THEY A HAVE A VICTIM RIPE FOR A JOKE .

AGAIN , CALL ON ARMANDO TO BAN ME FOR LIFE IF I AM GULFDOLPHIN .

Nobody can convince me that great Coaches just happen to find great QB's. Belichick=Brady, Lombardi-Bart Starr, Shula-Unitas,Griese,Marino. You want to know why? They do their due dilligencetheydotheirduedilligence.....

Kris, guess you missed it but I emailed Mando early this am about not just regular impostors, they can be a comedic relief..even funny. But this is a whole diff ballgame.

Mando lets a lot slide unless you start insulting him and if he reads it. But every so often, he does take some action.

The last couple of pgs were just bad news last night. Lets hope he cleans it up.

@ cocoajoe 7:31

I understood your point the 1st. time believe it Bro !

AGREE WITH COCAJOE ...B/C GULF VOICED HIS VIEWS ON KRIS LIKE KRIS VOICED HIS VIEWS ABOUT ME AND OTHERS ,I DON'T SEE ANY ALARM HERE ....SO THE RULE IS TO ATTACK ALOCO AT WILL AND NEVER ATTACK KRIS ............. FUNNY..

ANY ONE HAS THE RIGHT TO VOICE ANY VIEWS EVEN GULFDOLPHIN .LET ME SAY....VIVA GULFDOLPHIN AND ARMANDO SHOULD BAN ME IF IWAS GULF .

Cocoajoe,

I saw your post this morning about that....did you get anything back from Armando.....

It was your post from this morning that gave me the idea.....

You guys more or less know by know who Armando is. If you don't I'll keep giving you clues. Pay no attention to him. Any bets that he won't appear as long as I am writing here? You can do the same. Let's talk Football.

Back to football talk. I'm a firm believer in the Ron Wolfe model of selecting a QB. Keep drafting until you find one.

Don't mean mortgage your future, don't mean you reach, just means you keep trying.

Should add, just because you think you found one, don't stop.

I HOPE KRIS IS READING OSCAR'S POSTS AND READ BETWEEN THE LINES .

Kris, yes I did. He said he would look into it.

Will look at it in the next couple of minutes. Thanks for the heads up.

Up there was a Post, I think by DB, that just because a QB is top rated in a Draft does not mean he is a franchise QB. Couldn't agree more. So, what do we do? I don't know for sure. Follow Ron Wolfe. Ask the great Coaches. ???

Thanks Cocoajoe....

Armando knows a good deal of Football, when he wants.

cocoajoe @7:51 / Kris multiple posts ect..

I said I didn`t want to post anything on the subject anymore but Aloco you need to understand that it`s pretty much unanimous, everybody thinks that all the high drama was caused by you, ever since you`ve known me on this sight when have you seen me get so bent out of shape ? but everything has it`s limits, some of the games you play cross the line, it`s always been your little act and it finally got on everones last nerve. If you at least just say, "you know what maybe I was wrong and I apologize", then I`m sure everybody would drop it but instead you look to take it a step further, what gives man ? I don`t always agree with everybody on here and I know they don`t always agree with me but you don`t see us dropping infantile remarks or posing as other bloggers to kick up a hornets nest, just think about it.

FIN,

SO WHY YOU DON'T CALL ON ARMANDO TO BAN ME FOR LIFE IF I AM GULFDOLPHIN AND IF IT'S NOT HE BANS MR KRIS FOR LIFE ....HOW IS THAT IF YOU R VERY SURE WHAT YOU R SAYING IS CORRECT ?

I said, pay no attention. I'll guide you. I know this guy.

FIN4LIFE,

IWROTE MY LAST POST AFTER READING 2 LINES OF YOUR POST BUT AFTER READING THE WHOLE THING....

1-YOU BELIEVE WITHOUT A DOUBT I AM GULFDOLPHIN.
2-IF SO , CALL ON ARMANDO TO SAY SO AND I WILL NOT POST EVEN ONE POST .

3-WHAT WOULD YOU IF YOU R WRONG ?

De nada Kris. Been here for years and I've seen em come and go. Like humor but when it gets to making people pissed at each other when they don't know who they're being pissed off about...I gotta say something.

I like Mando's blog and I like to have fun too but.......

3-WHAT WOULD YOU DO IF YOU R WRONG ?

Aloco,

If I`m proven wrong I would apologize drop it and get back to talking football, I don`t wanna talk about this anymore, somebody please post anything football.

There's so many QB's in the Draft that I can't believe we can't come with something serviceable, like Chad Pennington, Drew Bledsoe, something.

0x80....what Im saying is that I am more concerned with getting the 'philosophy" of how we should draft correct than the actual pick...so Im advocating that irrespective of STRONG or WEAK draft pool ( which no one can substantiate in advance) we continually and consistently draft HIGH until we get our Franchise QB...could take 4 years...who knows...but unless we do this we hold almost NO CHANCE of obtaining that SB winning Franchise QB...and with Ingram...I just dont see him dominating at all in this league...he is NOT exceptional at any ONE THING...and with his stature and injury profile, this is trouble....look elsewhere for the running back..to me that would be a wasted pick indeed...but its all pure speculation...its just that when Sparano makes the call , hes paid 4 million to get it right...( ireland too).

Kris,

I have you know that I email Armando on occasion, and have already posted here over and over that He is fully aware that I sign in with the names, GulfDolphin, or Marooned on a Deserted Island.

I am not sure why you think I am Aloco? Perhaps the mere coincidence that when I post, you and Aloco just happen to be on this site too. Well hell, everytime I log on you two are here! Or within minutes, or with aliases.

Since you are incapable of seeing many things for what they are worth, I'll point it out for you, Kris.

Aloco just plain ole doesn't care for you. He simply enjoys the fact that I don't care for you either. And when I put it on post, Aloco puts his 2 cents in, likely for the reason I just pointed out.

It doesn't take a psychiatrist to see that writing on the prescription pad.

So I log on after a 3 day hiatus, to find you still on the rag from last week. I would have left it where it was, forgotten, but you can't seem to go a day without a fever.

I got an email headed towards the same two addresses. And am going to post my two letters regarding you right here.

You act like this is some form of threat to not be taken lightly. Get a life guy.

FIN4LIFE,

NO MORE APOLOGIZING ,PLEASE ..... YOU GOT TO DO SOME THING LIKE ARMANDO BAN YOU AND WHOEVER THINKS IT'S ME FOR A MONTH.

YOU ALL SURE THAT WAS ME WITH THAT GREAT TRUTHFUL WRITTEN POST ABOUT MR KRIS ...SO CALL ON ARMANDO TO TO CLEAR THIS THING OUT .....IF IT'S ME BAN ME AND IF NOT LET SHAME ON YOU .

fin, how about this, how in the name of all that's holy, do we find a QB? LOL

THANKS GULF FOR POSTING @ 8;22 PM........ IF YOU EXPRESS YOUR VIEWS TOWARD ONE GUY ,WHAT'S THE BIG DEAL ..I TAKE CRAP FROM EVERY ONE EVERY DAY AND I PASS IT BY LIKE NO THING HAPPENED ...IS KRIS KING KOLE ?

THE MAFIA BOSS FAKE THE HELL OUT OF ME EVERY DAY AND THE CUBAN MENACE ABOUT APE CITY AND I DON'T SAY A WORD ..IT'S A BLOG .

0x80 @7:36,

Gholston didn`t really do much at Ohio St. remember he wasn`t even a full time starter till his Sr. season, then blew everybody away at the combine (original workout warrior) and shot up some boards, so while I see your point about meassurables were talking about a guy who`s heart for the game was being questioned before Herm Edwards took the flyer. You can be the greatest ahtlete in the world but if you don`t love the game it`s of no great consequence, Gholston`s biggest meassurable was his lack of heart.

Checked in to see what you guys were up to. Identity theft, childish name calling by some, NWO posts. Nothings changed, I'll check back again if they announce a new CBA deal.

Your exposed dude....i give a crap what you say....i'm not as dumb as your Aloco personality likes to sound.....

Save the sob story for whoever contatcts if your contacted......

KRIS IS PLAYING MR COP WITH ME , YOU DUMB ASS

I will come back later in the evening. If then, Armando, you persist in interrupting our conversations, I will call on your real Boss and recommend that you perform double-duty as a columnist. Yes?

No comment on the Ron Wolfe model? That's fine but it's the right one.

@ cocoajoe 8:24,

I guess that`s the 64 Million Dollar question isn`t it, I`ll tell you what I`ll throw some ideas your way and you bounce some right back, how about we draft one with our 2nd pick this year, hopefully Keap. and start drafting one high at least every 2 years until we get one that`s worthy and while were at it look at the smaller school kids (thinkin Romo) and start keeping at least 2 on the P.S.

The Ron Wolfe Model ? Let`s see since 1992 R.Wolfe has drafted or traded for the following Q.B.`s:

1) Dan Majikowski (draft rd.4)

2) Brett Favre (trade 3rd rd.)

3) Kurt Warner ( UFA)

4) Matt Hasselack (draft rd.7)

5) Aaron Rodgers (draft rd.1)

6) Matt Flynn (draft rd.7)

I`d say his way works just fine cocoajoe !

Bigafly @ 8:22- fair enough response. Reggie Bush, McFadden were both taken very high, everyone thought the top players in the draft, and really they've not lived up to their draft pedigree. Maybe McFadden will come on. My only point being, its damn tricky trying to see which talent will be most successful in the NFL. Even when they have everything you want, they don't always deliver, and visa versa. I hear the arguments against Ingram, I can relate to the doubts people have about him. Time will tell.

Yes! fin...lot of people don't understand it. Parcells was going in that direction with Pat White but got burnt. And then so embarssed by it, he quit.

You can't give up until you find the right one and even then you don't quit.

I've spent a bit of time researching the draft boards, trying to create a ligitimate mock of my own. I have to say that this has to be the most challenging job a team faces in the off-season. I'd like to know how many pool together - from owner to scouts - to create the Dolphins draft list, and how many man-hours are invested in this pursuit.

Who ultimately makes the decision to choose a player? Ross? Ireland's wife? Sparano? Flip a coin? I know that this is one area the franchise hasn't been very successful. I just don't understand why we have drafted so poorly over the years, and been suckered into FA flops more often than not. Then it occured to me that drafting really is a crap-shoot, and that explains why there are still 14 teams that have never won a SB, four of which have never even played for the title.

Here is my mock draft, and I hope it is meaningless to you. If it becomes an obsession, I hope it is from someone in the organization, and not one of the gang of defeat. I am also under no illusions when it comes to this teams greatest needs, and the players we already contract. This is a mock that fits within projected round and sequence. I withheld the zealous ambition to mock outside reality. It is also cobbled with the unforseen, and yes, has a few acorns. We are loaded in the seventh!

Considering all the factors facing this squad (and within reasonable expectations in a 32 team league), I wish we would draft these players - and if an unexpected surperior were to fall into an odd gain, take that player in place of any here:

R.1 QB Ryan Mallett 6'7" 248 5.24 40 Arkansas
R.3 RB DeMarco Murrey 6' 213 4.37 Oklahoma
R.4 OG/OT Zach Hurd 6'7"327 5.21 Connecicut
R.5 SS/FS,ST Joe Lefaded 6'210 4.38 Rutgers
R.6 CB/FS Byron Maxwell 6' 202 4.43 Clemson
R.7 ILB Nick Bellore 6'1"245 4.68 Cen.Michigan
R.7 WR,KR Stephen Burton6'1"221 4.38 W Texas AM
R.7 TE Schuylar Oordt 6'5"261 4.58 N. Iowa

bigalfy,

Good to trade barbs, my man.....hope everything is good Down Under.

We're not going to see eye to eye on this, so it's kind of pointless to even respond to this. You're in the same camp as Rob in OC and kris and that's fine. I'm not here to change your mind.

I never said for a FACT that there's no frnchise QB in the draft. Go back and read my words and tell me where I said that? There may very well be, bigalfy, but please tell me who that is, cause I don't know who it is. Newton and Gabbert will be gone before we pick. Would you like us to trade up and getting one of them? So please tell which one or ones it is, so that we can say you were right or wrong.

On top of all that, I think this idea that you and others to draft a franchise QB every year in the first round is ridiculous. I've never heard of a franchise doing that. Is there one? Please show a franchise that has taken that approach and who it has worked out for. Don't confuse this with Ron Wolf's philosophy of taking a quarterback each year. That one I don't mind so bad, but first round? How would you ever replace the other players on your team? Let's look at the current team. Rght now, you need to come up with some running backs from somewhere. On top of that at some point we're going to need to replace Crowder, Carey, Bell and Soliai. We need a better TE than Fassano and so you can reaplce him or add somebody else. The list goes on. So you're commiting to first round QB's for as long as it takes. I'd love to know how your going to improve the rest of the roster through age, injuries and FA. Please share.....

0x80,

I noticed earlier that you didn't include Leshoure on your list of running backs that you'd be happy. Just wondering, what is it you don't like about the kids. He seems to have a lot of the stuff we would want, in terms of size, speed and elusiveness. To be honest, I'd rater have this guy than Hunter.

fin4life, don't forget to add Aaron Brooks to that list too. I believe they were able to trade him to trade him to the Saints for a pick or two. They also drafted Pederson who started for the Eagles for a little while.

GulfDolphin, with all due respect, I'd be very disappointed if that was opur windfall from the draft.

The drafting a 1st round QB idea is pretty silly and knee jerk. Craig is right in that it could never work and has never been done.

The Dolphins have spent a lot of 2nd round draft picks on QB's and it just has not panned out. Now in all fairness the book is still out on Henne.

I also agree with craig that GulfDolphins mock would be pretty disappointing.

That is meant to write 'drafting a 1st round QB every draft idea'....

CraigM,

Good call on Aron Brooks but Doug Pederson was drafted by the one and only Dolphins under Shula before leaving to G.B. via FA upon JJ`s arrival in 96. We were discussing people they found thru the draft or as UFA

fin4life,

Thanks for the correction. I don't remember Pederson playing for the Dolphins. I had forgotten that.

I was looking at some of our old draft picks today. Do you remember JJ Johnson. Man, I thought that guy was going to be good. Another bust!!

Based on the draft value chart I have figured we can trade back 2 spots to the chargers and gain a 2nd round pick by doing the following:

Mia gives 1st (15th overall) and 4th rd (112th overall to SD CHargers for 1st (18th overall) and 2nd round pick (61st overall)

MIA Mock Draft after trade:

1st RD WIS OT Gabe Carimi
2nd RD Illinois RB Mikel Leshoure
3rd RD Ark TE DJ WIlliams
5th RD Iowa QB Ricky Stanzi
6th RD Auburn RB Mario Fannin
7th RD V-TECH OLB Steven Friday
7th RD BPA

Armando has already e-mailed me back......

I respect that.....I am not the only only to e-mail him and I won't disclose the conversation....but he is checking it out.....

Nothing may come of this.....but at least my voice has been heard....you guys should make sure yours are as well.....

later FIN FANS

@CraigM

I remember JJ Johnson as a consolation prize more than anything, some call the draft a crap shoot and while I get it, I always have seen it more like a game of Dominos with one move ultimatley dictating the next. In that draft everybody had Philly taking Ricky Williams with pick 2 but they opted for Mcnabb.

Then it was the Colts sitting at pick 4 who were contemplaiting either the Edge or Ricky and do to his pass catching ability chose the Edge. It`s important because we were the ones originally in talks with Wash. at pick 6 negotiating our 1st, 3rd. and 5th picks to move up to that slot to grab James but Polian took him and Ditka traded his whole draft for Williams, if Ricky had gone at 2 or 4 it would have been us trading up that day, see what I mean a game of dominos.

No problem Craig. I am sure somebody else would have picked 8 better players. Funny though, I bet you haven't researched more than 2 or 3 of my picks? Let me guess, Mallett, Murrey? And only those 2 because they are on the stage and under spot lights for obvious reasons.

I remember typing about Demarco back in January, and you pointed to his leg and ankle injuries. But like Ingram, they are healed, otherwise, they both wouldn't have been able to play last year. And D. Murrey had a great year. So did Mallett. So did all my other picks. Albeit, most of what the Dolphins are working with is the bottem of the draft barrel...

After reading the projections on many players, it seems the really good ones that play hardest, are injury prone. Heal quickly, and back in the lineup.

Craig M,

I intentionally left out Leshoure. Why? Can't explain it. I watched a few highlight vidoes on youtube and something just didn't grab me. He fits the mold this FA would take, but I like the others more.

GulfDolphin,

I'm not a fan of Malletts. I've gone on record as saying that a number of times now. I'd prefer some of the other guys in the draft. One of them would be Locker. I think Mallett has great physical skills but I don't think he's going to hold up to the abuse and criticism he faces in the NFL. I hope he proves me wrong. You've also got a FS/SS going in the draft and I don't believe we nnde that. We have Bell, Clemons Culver and Jones to fill those spots. I don't know that we need a guy in the fifth round to add to that. I also would have liked to have seen a TE in there somewhere too. I like Rudolph and I said I would go and get this guy in the second round, even if that means giving up next year's second. To me this guy has a chance to be Rob Gronkowski and we missed last year. Don't miss this year too.

I also think we could trade down with the Chicago and it might benefit us more. They have alot of holes to fill on the OL and could use a franchise Tackle.

So once again based on the point system we trade our 1st rd pick (15th) for their 1st rd pick (29th) and their 2nd rd pick (61st)

Another Fins Mock draft

1st RD ILL RB Mikel Leshoure
2nd RD Nevada QB Colin Kapernick
3rd RD Wis G John Moffitt
4th RD Clemson DT Jarvis Jenkins
5th RD FAU TE Rob Housler
6th Auburn RB Mario Fannin
7th BPA for both 7th rd picks

bk,

I kind of like your draft from above but I just wonder if we'd be lucky enough to have it all fall into place that way. I'd have to look a little closer at whether I prefer Carimi or someone else. I still think at 18 that we could get Pouncey and I might be tempted to go that way. I also think I might prefer Ryan Williams to Leshoure but again I'd have to look at it a little further.

bk,

Number two is pretty good too. The tradedown with Chicago makes a lot of sense too because while there are some good OL in the draft a lot of them will be snapped up should they wait until picking at 29. The only thing I would wonder about is if they could accomplish the same thing only moving up 5-8 picks. I wonder if they actually have to trade up all the way to 15 to get what they want.

KRIS,

LOL @ YOU... AFTER HAVING FRIED OCTUBOUS AND CALAMRI .I FIGURED ARMANDO GAVE YOU THE BAD NEWS THAT ALOCO AND GULF ARE 2 PEOPLE NOT ONE MR KING KOLE .

But bk, How do you make a case for trade back with SD? Do you twist their arm, brow beat them into submission?

Nothing wrong with that draft picture, except you are forced to negotiate with - and at the mercy of - SD...

If this is all you have to do to create a gleaming sparkly draft scenerio, I'll be back with one that will make even the gang of defeat drool over one another.

When I am through, I'll have swapped our picks for Belichek's and maybe even throw in some of our coaching staff.

Just joking...

Gone, going to check up on Armando.

KRIS ,

YOU OWE ME AN APOLOGY AND APOLOGY TO ALL THE POSTERS IN HERE FOR GIVING US YET ANOTHER DRAMA .

FIN4LIFE,

WHERE'S YOUR APOLOGY ?
