Williams thinks about playing in different uniform

It seems Ricky Williams, a free agent running back whenever a new labor agreement is signed between NFL players and owners, has been thinking about his future lately.

And his thoughts seem to center around the idea his days with the Dolphins are over.

Around 2:45 p.m. today Williams tweeted: "I wonder which teams (CQ) jersey I'll be wearing next season? It's exciting to finally be a free agent."

No mention of a possibility of a Dolphins return.

That obviously prompted followers, of which Williams has 47,000, to ask the player about the possibility of another go-around in Miami. And so Williams followed this way:

"In case you don't understand, free agency works two ways. The team has to want the player."

Well, it is true the Dolphins haven't exactly been banging down Williams' door. They didn't make any significant attempt to re-sign him following the season and up until recently, while the window was still open to them to do so.

This despite the fact the team talked to Williams' agent about a contract restructure for Will Allen, set up a physical for Jeremy Shockey and conducted other business with him as well. Conversation about Williams was a back-burner issue for the Dolphins.

This doesn't mean the Dolphins have totally closed the door to Williams. General Manager Jeff Ireland has said he's open to re-signing either Ronnie Brown or Williams at some point, assuming all things are to the club's liking.

My guess, however, is the Dolphins simply want to upgrade from both Brown and Williams. Brown has endured injuries to his knees and a foot and doesn't seem to have the explosion he had earlier in his career. Williams, after all, turns 34 years old in May. He didn't seem to make to many defenders miss on first contact last season.

I must share that Williams later tweeted, "I will always be a fin."

But that seems more a statement about his heart or mind. Clearly, he will not always be a fin. Clearly, if the Dolphins have given him the cold shoulder -- something they've been known to do with declining veterans -- the matter is out of his hands anyway.

One can understand the Dolphins, always looking for a younger, better player, would be looking elsewhere to upgrade at running back. And I get the feeling they are treating Williams pretty much the way they treated Jason Taylor last year. I believe the Dolphins will look to upgrade the position in the draft and free agency, and only if they fail there, they would consider bringing Williams back.

And if Williams goes to another team in the interim ... oh well, that's life.

And Williams, looking at his tweets, is apparently getting the message. And he's casting his gaze elsewhere as well.

Follow me on twitter. It's good for your cholesterol.

I've been wearing Vietnamees cheeze crap on my feet?

Say what thou wilt, the two particular makes of Nike and Fila that I wear suit me just fine.

A few years back, the son of my then girlfriend told me the story of his friend, a very brilliant guy and probably one of the Pioneers of hydroponic culturing of Marihuana. Oh, with what dedication did he attend his setup, how well was everything working in that Place! But he never made a dime out of it. He smoked them all.

loved charlie casserly's comment on cam newton, "i would not draft his kid in the first round. he lacks the vision downfield and is too much of a project." first perfect analysis of this guy i've heard to this point.

I have a similar situation with my 10 y/o, Odin, and I'm terrified that someting happens to his mother. I give her flowers and gifts(besides the $1,102 child support) and encourage her to have regular Medical checkups.

I tend to put more stock in what Casserly and Lombardi say more than probably anyone else when it comes to prospects.

The Hair Club for Men expert and Mayock(who I like a little)seem to babble off filler and fluff quite a bit.

When Casserly or Lombardi say something, it's at least currently accurate and factual.

Thanks dm1, nice "update" on Newton. I wasn't aware of his lack of down field vision, but I will be taking another look now that you mention it.

Especially after considering what people have been saying about/after his latest workout.

not likely. newton has an arm, he has athletic ability but the one thing he is not is a quarterback. if you watch enough tape of him the one thing you see is he makes a lot of completions to wide open receivers but he has trouble with his overall vision of the field when he surveys it when players aren't wide open. you saw it first-hand if you wathced the national championship. he had trouble seeing the field. casserly said it best when he said if you like vince young you'll like cam newton but, if you don't, you won't like him. perfect analogy.

Yeah... I can see Aloco's point in some of his statements for certain.... I disagree about Jarrod Odrick. But that's okay.

Sorry to see you so angry there "Starving in Miami2"... But I feel Miami has been extremely fair when it comes to paying its players. They have overpaid for more often then not. I also believe you have forgotten what Ricky did to this team. You may be one who thinks he had some entitled right to leave the team all of the sudden while owing them $8 million. To go off on his "Weed Excursion" living in the dirt of Australia in a tent. But Miami gave up 2 first round draft picks for that young man and paid him the sort of cash that does not suffer that sort of foolishness... As far as I am concerned... They are even with Ricky having come out smelling like a Rose. Just 4 years ago... Ricky Williams had a worse reputation and was more hated in the NFL then Michael Vick when he was busted killing pooches.

I believe you have every right to be upset... But an 11-5 and 2 7-9 seasons is certainly not grounds to give back the fans money... Not when there are 14 teams this year... 11 last year... and 22 the year before who had worse records.

No doubt there are those with their heads far above reality... but there are also those who believe this team to be in far worse shape then it is. Their Home Record... and letting 3 games that were 1 or 2 plays from wins is all that stood between Miami and a 10-6 record. Pittsburgh... Cleveland and Buffalo were all home loses that were decided on just a ref call or a dropped int. No excuses... But Miami was FAR from being anyone but New England's footstool.

I respect your position... but disagree with its severity.

no worries oscar...I give her a lot more....we use your child support $ to go out for nice dinners and take weekend trips.

Who the hell are these guys, dm1dophan?

Odin, Casserly limpderk knocked the Vontae pick, saying he was a problem child. Casserly is nothing but a tabloid gossip queen buying into whatever bs comes his way. Apparently Vontae had one very minor incident in college and both Casserly and Kiper knocked Miami for taking him. Vontae is no problem child and Cass and Kiper are tv trashola, ask ann landers.

Aloco, a little less teeth next time please, but all was good. You rock. Let's shoot for the weekend!

I'm not sure I understood your last post.

I do hope everything goes well for you and all of your kids.

casserly was a very successful scout and gm for the redskins for 23 years. while he was there the redskins went to four superbowls and won three of them. when it comes to evaluation of player talent i would respect that of a guy with that type of experience in the league.

Yeah, oswald canola, keep her healthy.

I am starting to believe (no.. I DO believe) that there has been and there currently is a very efficient group of people who interject all of these "Bad Habits" and "Off Field Issues" about players.

I'm not suggesting every story to be untrue. But I'm willing to believe that a situation that has the sort of cash flying around that the First round of the draft does is infected by scumbags trying to alter or "Steer" to or away from players.

Newton has some documented stuff from Florida and with tests. But when I hear "Lacks downfield vision" or "Rumors of Drug use"... I want to..
A) Be given a solid and verifiable way to determine if the allegations are true.
B) want to know the names and who was involved in these so called...Issues.

If your gonna cost a man Millions of $$$ you damn sure better have some proof... and that shiznit ain't happening... its just being blathered all over ESPN without merit or proof positive concerning any of the crap said.

Derek, pass the koolaid along. You obviously are not a fan of reality. Whatever feels good, do it. Try writing like you are not in 6th grade, or are you?

Of course, Derek.

I like peas. Stars are far. Tony Sparano wears tight diapers.

Does anyone know Tawain Jones "purported" 40 yard time? I know he didn't run at the combine, but does anyone know of any prior 40 times.

I know he played against weaker competetion, but man, he looks like a man among boys!

I don't know how fast he is, but he's obviously quick. I know the highlight reels always makes you look good, but two things pop out when I watch him.

First-His angles. He NATURALLY runs to daylight and the second a defender takes the wrong angle, BAM! He's gotcha!

Second-What I've found the most impressive is his cutback skills. It looks like he has a natural feel for hitting the cutback lanes. This usually mean excellent vision as well.

I've been comparing Kendall Hunter and Tawain Jones just recently and I'm starting to like Tawain more.

Anybody know his 40 time?

Agent Orange got the best of me, but I served well and am proud, even if deformed.

Why should the Dolphins want him back since he bailed on them before and openly ripped players and the coaching staff this season?? And cant even openly commit to playing much more after that. I say let him walk. If he really wanted to stay a Dolphin he should have kept his mouth shut about this regime and the coaching staff, along with certain players. How can you trust a player to be loyal to his teammates on game day, or even to the organization?? I would say, resign Ronnie, draft a back, or sign one. Or sign a back, draft one, and get rid of both.

I have to agree with you on the post about Ricky above.

In addition to the things you stated, the timing of his excursion ALONE was completely unacceptable. Talk about being left in the lurch.

The simply walked out on his team and teammates at the very worst possible time.

That's the one thing that I had the most trouble forgiving him for!

For the record, I think the Miami Dolphins as whole have been more than fair to Ricky Williams. He should be thanking us!

ALoco, you are not the first that has said to be proud of your kids. In my case, with my 10 year old, even if he has an outtasight IQ, why should I be proud of him, WHAT THE HELL HAS HE DONE with his life to make feel proud of him? Getoutta here! Not so with my older son.

What did Ricky say that was so bad??? He just called it like he saw it, nothing out of line. Do you all want ''yes men circle jerkers' or what? Just because Armando hates Ricky because Ricky won't talk to him because Armando ridiculed the heck out of him, doesn't mean you let Armandos opinion mind control your brain. Or does it? Ricky merely said TS micromanages a bit too much. JT said the same thing. What happened to freedom of speech? Ya'll want a bunch of 'politically correct' pansies or you want men??? Wake up and THINK for yourself!!!!

Odin...this country is employment at will. Employers don't hesitate to cut the best employees simply because their stock drops. As well, employees are free to quit any time they want. Ricky toked up, would have been suspended anyway. After Wanndoosh ran him 9 million times, I'd be spent too needing a toke. Ricky gave his all and more while he was on the team, was a leader and a model citizen while he was on the team, nothing more you can ask for. You only owe your employer a good job while you are on the payroll, and Ricky did that way better than most.

Your Momma's Ann Landers and I knocked her trashola arse back when she was a problem child.

You sound like a guy that's come out on the wrong end of a prison shower room party.

You wanna debate topics or be a hack dude? It's up too you.

Probably the most fun iv ever watched football was when ricky ran for 1800 yards, he is my second fav dolphin behind dan marino

Hihi, it is a well known fact that in these Internet Blogs only 4-6 people comment in them, even if they appear to be a 100. Except in the Huffington Post, where the Great Minds are.

Wake up,

My last post doesn't reflect my overall opinion of Ricky Williams. I was speaking on some negatives in response to a previous post.

I love Ricky Williams.

I am hoping for a major upgrade and to be honest, at this point in his career, I don't think he has much more to offer than Lex Hilliard.

I'm not sure you'd consider that as saying much about Ricky, but I love the guy just the same!

odin, I hear ya, good response. you're ok in my book.

dudes, open your eyes and think! you let armando think for you? the fins are not likely to have a player as dedicated as RW for as long as your all alive, and you trash him over silly shirt. yeah he quit at a tough time, but can't blame him after the wannstedt abuse. I'll bet you'd welcome murderers and wife beaters players just fine but are torching ricky over a spliff and speaking his mind. GO MOVE TO IRAN WHERE EVERYONE HAS TO SPEAK THE COMPANY YESSIR LINE. Geez, you have no appreciation of freedom of speech or a man that speaks his own mind. Sad, pathetic...go play in mommies breast fed crib and don't forget your burkas....

Wake up,

I think Ricky was wrong for taking it to the media.

I thought he should have took it up with Tony and kept in house.

Having said that, I do think a lot of people over reacted to his statements and what's more, I don't believe his statements created an unbridgeable chasm.

What really skewered peoples perceptions on the whole matter was what Ross was doing to Sporano by chasing after Harbaugh. It made Ricky's statements seem worse than what they really were. At least that's my take anyway.

Armando, I'm with you on Jake Locker and Carson

What happened to Oswaldo?

I bet you he's on the phone right now asking him Momma if I'm really his Daddy!

Hang up dat phone and sit yo silly a s s down BUOY!!!!

Armando ridiculed Ricky for years, and now he has an attitude towards Ricky because he won't speak to Armando. WOuld you? Ricky took a beating in the press, if any of you have hair on your chest or your shlingshlong, you wouldn't talk to him either.

Was Ricky's recent comment about Sparano so bad, so tabu, as Aramando suggests? I fail to see it. I see a guy simply saying, uh, the dude may have micromanaged a bit to much. JT even agreed. You can hate JT for being a Jet, but you loved him when he was here and agreed with Ricky. So....was his comment so devasting? Do you admire people who speak up or people who 'tow the company line'? I'd take a sincere opinion over the 'politicaly correct' opinion 10 times out of 19. "Politicall Correct" is really the antithesis of freedom of speech.

I like to be "Politically Correct" when I'm talking to some young Hotties Mother!

But then that would be sorta like an "Oxymoron" now wouldn't it!

Earlbygod, you have it the total opposite this isn't a great QB draft and it's a great a RB draft... Ingram has to be the worst #1 RB prospect in the 1st rd in years... bust potential

Odin, fair enough...maybe he shouldn't have taken it to the media ( i withhold judgement),. but he busted his butt and was a role model while he was here, he is entitled to speak out in my book, and from what I read, I found him tactful and not as antagonististic as Armando made it sound. Sometimes it seem the blogger let Armando think for them and don't look at things objectively. I see you do, agree or disagree, I respect your opinion.

Odin, well talking to a hottie or her mother, politically correct is permisable! Gotta seize the moment!

yeah I'm on my second bottle of cabernet, excuse the typos, I'm really sane believe it or not.

0*80, It would be the biggest mistake if they passed on Cam Newton... At 15 he's obviously the best choice.

Final point, I just don't get the attitude against Ricky. Seems like many let the media manipulate their mind. He was a very rare and gifted athlete in his prime, and whether you agree or not, easily in the top 5 all time fins players. JT went to the Jets and half of you turned on him with venom, simply because the guy wanted to work...he took a sure thing rather than gambling and waiting for Jeff TeaCup to make up his mind. Gotta make the money while you can....

Checking out...peace.

A Hottie OR her Momma?

Sometimes you just gotta get in where you fit in!

I'm only on my 5th or 8th stein of Heineken, but I'm feelin pretty good.

I have to agree. There are some that let Armando slant things for them. He types it and all objectivity goes out the window.

They give themselves away too. They're the ones who are ALWAYS sucking up to him. I don't mean the guys that are simply cordial and happy to see him make an "appearence". I'm talking about the guys that are straight up-sucking up!!!! Every single time he "shows his face"-LOL.

Beerphin says Newton the best pick at 15?

That's not what you were saying two days ago!

The School bus comes early and we got 10 inches of snow blowing in tonight.

Thank God I own and operate the BEST Snow Plowing Service for 400 square miles.

A Kinder Gentler Odinseye ;)

odin, who the hell is this oswald character, hey buddy odin`s right when you get an original thought then get back to us until then you better get back to the basement and put your sticky playboy`s away before mom finds them.

Wake up,
Nobody is saying that Ricky doesn`t have the right to say and think what he wants if you go back and read you`ll see alot of us agree with what he says. It just seems like his comments came at a time when there would be no more football to much time to linger over it and by the way your free speech rant is nice but if I were to walk into my bosses office tomorow and basically tell everybody what an incompetent douch he was I would be asked to clean out my desk, what huh !! This is news I think not, thanks for the free ACLU lesson on my 1st. ammendment rights but this isn`t some anti-war demonstration in the streets, it`s about the unspoken rule of the professional courtesy one gives his superiors.

Hey odin you still out there had to go handle some business then check back in it looks like Derek bailed.

My biggest concern with having to revamp the O lINE and upgrade our backs is...OUR FREAKING HEAD COACH IS SUPPOSED TO BE EN EXPERT ON THE O_LINE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! ARGHHHHHHHH

What part of the country are you in?

odin, I've always said Cam Newton would be my top choice... what are you smoking?

Wassup Viking brudda!

Regarding you asking about Taiwan Jones. Here is a post I did from the signing Richie Incognito blog 4 blogs back...

Here is a guy I have been studying a lot lately. I like his running style, balance and moves. He also has great hands and could be just the speedy weapon Miami needs to gash teams with screens and chunk yardage that we have sorely missed.

The school said he was 6'1" and 200 lbs but his combine weight was 194 lbs. He didn't run the 40.

With 36 TDs in two years and almost 4,000 yards from scrimmage he is definitely a multifacted RB. He led the nation in a very crucial category... Yards Per Carry or YPC at a whopping 7.7 YPC albeit vs lesser competition at Eastern Washington. He did dominate which is what you want from a small school athlete.

Here are some videos of the guy in action and then a couple of oddball physical feats that show his leg explosion off.

To all those that have been preaching him from a while back I apologize in advance.

Sorry bro, he hurt his leg and was rehabbing it like crazy. We will have to wait for his official 40 time from his Pro Day. He will be fast as heck I believe. The sad thing is, I think this guy is gonna mess around and run a blistering 40 and put himself in the second round which of course we don't have. DAMN!

I see him as the best QB in this draft I don't see him falling to us but if by some miracle he does the dolphins would be stupid to not make him the face of the franchise.

I didn't see you around tomight and just as a few trolls disappeared your name popped up.

I suspected an imposter so I made a "trap" statement.

The imposter would have answered something about having changed his mind blah blah blah

I was just trying to avoid some troll calling himself Oswald.

IMO in order top QBS:
Cam Newton 1st
Jake Locker 1st
Blaine Gabbert 1st
Christian Ponder 2nd
Colin Kaepernick 2nd
Ryan Mallet 2nd-3rd
Andy Dalton 3rd
Pat Devlin 4th
Ricky Stanzi 4th
Tyrod Taylor 5th
Greg McElroy 6th
Taylor Potts 7th
Josh Portis 7th
Jerrod Johnson 7th
