This is the latest from the draft/rumor/smokescreen mill at this hour:
1. QB Andy Dalton is a redhot property and despite the possibility he could go to the Dolphins, there is talk he'll actually be gone by the time Miami picks at No. 15. Incredible. I see this as a reach.
2. Still have found no one other than Jason LaCanfora (previous post) who believes Dolphins will pick Colin Kaepernick with their first pick at No. 15. Maybe if they trade out of the round, but at No. 15? Hard to believe.
3. I'm hearing talk that Notre Dame TE Kyle Rudolph is on Miami's board and a possibility at No. 15, but more likely as a player they like later in the first round as a fallback. Two people have actually told me this. These folks are NFL types, not media. Anyway, the thinking is Rudolph is a stretch the field type player even though he is not a WR. He would be a help to a QB needing a security blanket. The Patriots last year turned their rookie tight ends into very effective weapons.
4. I have confirmed that the Miami draft totem pole has changed in ways more deep-seeded than simply moving out Bill Parcells. Yes, Jeff Ireland is the general manager and makes the final call on Miami's pick. That's a switch from the last three years when Parcells had final say. But I have confirmed the Dolphins did indeed make a little-known but significant change to Tony Sparano's contract that allows him to have the most say in the draft room of any year he's been with the team. The fact is Sparano has the power now to speak up and put the brakes on a pick if he's of that mind. I assume he can also advocate for a pick. That to me is significant because, obviously, Sparano is a bigtime offensive line advocate and Mike Pouncey is a very likely Dolphins target. Does that increase the chances Pouncey gets picked? I don't know. But it is something to keep in mind.
[NOTES: Come back and refresh regularly as I'll be gathering whatever is out there and reporting it back to you here. Also, there is a live draft blog at 8 p.m. And I will be updating my twitter timeline in real time so follow me.]

ALoco,
I never said that I thought we would draft Mallet.
I don't think we will or that we should.
My stance on Mallet has ALWAYS been the same.
Coming into college I thought he would one day re write the NFL record books.
After seeing that he decided to flip flop, transfer and party away his college career, I simply think he's maxed out.
The best Ryan Mallet you'll ever see, is the Ryan Mallet you saw at Arkansas.
It just won't be quite good enough for the NFL.
With his psychological make up and predispositions, I don't see him as a career back up either.
Simply put, Mallets best football is behind him already!
PS: Aloco, I had some awesome spaghetti, with that good ole T-Texas Garlic toast. FOR DINNER!!!!

Aloco,
I never said Mallett. I would never even try to predict what Ireland will do.

agree with aloco @ 6:36. please condense your thoughts into a few sentences, not pages.

we've dug ourselves a hole the past 2 drafts. i hope ireland finally gets it right! the pats don't make those mistakes. we desperately need ballers;not prototypical size etc.

Redsky,
Hope your well.
I'm so "noited out" with anticipation I'm afraid to start drinking this early.
The way my nerves are right now, I might not be coherent by the time we make our first pick.
You know what though? I'm going to do it anyway. I can't take any more of this sober!
Great Idea Redsky, IT IS TIME-LOL!!!!

Im back!
Armando
If what you are saying is true I do beleive the Dolphins will try to trade down but no further than 23 and maybe add a 3rd rounder, and try to still land Pouncey.
Now ESPN is saying that the Steelers are looking to trade up to as high as 15 to take Pouncey. That might play a roll in having to take Pouncey some what earlier than expected...such is that case when the draft is short of good interior lineman. And in this draft Pouncey is the best.
Sparano newly found influence on this draft will speak loudly if they take Pouncey at 15.
What we get is very good player that can anchor the middle and pull very well almost as good as his brother, apple didnt fall far, but the Dolphins get this for the next 10-12 years. Instantly upgrading the position and line.
Interesting thig is Ireland will want to also put a stamp on this his first draft with out having to answer to Parcells. I get the feeling, based on his willingness to add a troubled playmaker in Brandon Marshall, that Jeff Ireland is a bit of a gun slinger.
So lets see what Ireland has up his sleve as he still needs to add a second rounder if not at least a third rounder. He had promised to Parcells last year. He gave away two but got one back, let see if he gets the other second rounder he gave up to get Marshall.

Something about Ryan Mallett just seems to scream JAMARCUS RUSSELL at me
Posted by: TMFMISL-Bringing back the Biff | April 28, 2011 at 06:53 PM
The Patriots make as many dud picks as anyone else. The reason they do so well is that they do a superb job of stockpiling extra ones, knowing full well that they'll fail on some.
They're not really smarter at drafting, just on tilting the odds in their favor.

TEAMS THAT COULD TAKE ANDY DALTON EARLIER THAN DOLPHINS ;
DIRTY TITANS AT NO 8
SF 49'S AT NO 7
RED SKINS AT NO 10
MIN AT NO 12
HE'S GONE

Well Mr. ALoco, I haven't been right in a long time so I don't know what to say. My gut says they will pick Mallet, I would love to see Rudolph, and wouldn't be upset with Ingram or Pouncey. But my gut tells me Mallet, and I think it will be a good pick. An NFL QB doesn't have to be fast in the pocket as long as he is accurate and gets rid of the ball quick. I said awhile ago we would draft a QB and pick up a free agent QB. I think Mallet would be a good pick, we will see.

Posted by: ALoco | April 28, 2011 at 06:58 PM
pouncey is just a guard and people think he's just like his older brother but he isnt anywhere close. pouncey, ingram, mallet all reaches at 15. we need an OT to replace vernon who has serious weight and injury concerns, not to mention the fact his feet are in concrete.

Amazing coverage on NWO HAARP (but they are forbid to tell u commoners) created tornadoes in the USA on NBC World News Tonight. First 20 min of broadcast all about the path of destruction. 175 new tornadoes y-day. 300 dead. over 1000 seriously injured. Tornadoes up to 1 mile thick. winds over 220 mph. Buildings reduced to their foundations. Trees completely debarked from severe winds. 5 states so far in state of emergency. 39 counties in Mississippi in utter devastation, in state of emergency. Huge new storm on the way to the same area next week and forecast for many more this Spring.
I knew this was all coming for over a year now. Most people wont listen. They are in denial & afraid of what they dont understand and too ignorant to learn. I think I know EXACTLY what Ireland will do. I'm not afraid to post my prediction either.
Especially knowing that SpOrano has a little more input now.
Ireland, will skip over OT Tyron Smith, who I think will fall to around 15 to 20. He'll skip Smith because of his lack of prototypical size(285 lbs.)
With the 15th pick of the draft, I predict Ireland will select an OT. In this order, it will be either:
1. Nate Solder, OT, Colorado - 6'9 - 315
2. Castonzo, OT, Boston College - 6'7 - 308
3. Gabe Carimi, OT, Wisconsin - 6'7 - 327
It's not necessarily what I would do, but of the three, I'm betting Carimi ends up being the best RT at the NFL level.

Everything everybody said on this blog about the draft will mean nothing, dust in the wind, in two hours from now. 99% of everything said will have been wrong.
Next we will all claim to khow how well each pick was, and debate that until september. Now I understand how women can talk about nail polish for six hours.

Even though Pouncey would be a nice addition to solidify the offensive line, the Bifecta? loves the 2nd round values too much to not trade down to reclaim the pick.

About a week ago Aloco and I predicted Dalton's stock would go through the roof as draft day approached.
Aloco seems to be backing off that claim because Red on the Noodle is uglier-ina Dick on a Poodle.
Two other guys that I GUARANTEE you will go way higher than rated is;
1. Jimmy Smith, CB, Colorado - 6'2 - 210
2. Martez Wilson, LB, Illinois - 6'4 - 250
Most have Smith as a late 1st/early 2nd. As well as Wilson going late 2nd/early 3rd.
I GURANTEE you Smith goes mid 1st and Wilson mid to late 1st.
I know, you don't give a shyt what I SAY, but thems some BOLD predictions if I do SAY SO myself!

Odin...When you say mid round is that between 10-20? Because It sure looks like Wilson is a perfect fit for Philly. I would love to see either of the guys you mentioned in a Dolphin Uni. Have you seen Micah Johnson?
