« Fins privately compare Pouncey to Stephenson | Main | Jeff Ireland has his say -- all of it right here »

Live draft blog begins here, now

Day Two of the draft is about to begin and two questions dominate:

Will the Dolphins trade into the second round?

As to getting into the second round, I have serious doubts the Dolphins will use their limited ammo to get into the round. That is obviously just a prediction, but I have a hard time believing Miami will invest the kind of capital necessary to come from nowhere to the the second.

That would require the Dolphins giving up their 2012 first round pick.

If the idea is for them to use their third round pick to try to move up into the second round, they still would have to yield either their fourth-round selection or perhaps the third rounder plus a high pick next year. Again, that is a prohibitive price.

I'm not saying the Dolphins would never pay such a price but ...

“I think you can always get ammunition," Ireland said yesterday abou tthe prospects of moving up. "I mean, look what Atlanta did. You always have ammunition I think. You can use your picks up until 2014 if you wanted to. We had a couple players on the board that if they fell to a certain spot then we might have jumped up, but we didn’t choose to do that.”

Why is Ryan Willams still @ radio City Music Hall?

little amondos in the basement or wherever, yes, I've seen Palmer's stats.

Bad year last year: 27 TD passes. 20 ints. 4000 yards. 61 percent completion percentage.

I'll take it considering Henne threw 19 INTs and only 15 TDs.

What would eight more TD passes do for Miami?

Yes Mike Brown is a Loon, But maybe, just maybe he can be convinced to let Palmer to go....

Miami should hauck the future to please the complainers !!! Trade all 2012 picks for picks this year !!!

skill position players mondo. I was busy itching my head

you'd think with all these QB's drafted this year NEXT YEAR IS THE FINS YEAR....

how many more teams need QB's???

Oakland

I would trade a second rounder from next years draft to get in there now and just keep doing that year after year..then we would always still have a pick, we would just be borrowing from the next year every draft...why not, it's better than sitting on our hands while all of these playmakers in positions we desperately need are getting drafted....

Reggie Bush to Fins ? maybe?

Darryl, Ireland loves Taiwan Jones. That's all I really know for sure.

Mando,

Just got home(24on48off)to catch up on articles from Wednesday. LOVED the article "Debunked......". One of the best you've written and right on the mark. Wrote the same thing right here at the beginnig of last year. We were still experimenting into the 3rd preseason game. By the way, liked our pick, not sexy, but needed. Again great article.

Dr that's just silly...if there is a good QB available any team would take them and develop them

Armando how confident are you that the Dolphins can get Carson Palmer?

dquan bowers is looking for the lady with the gold garbage bag on her head. he wants to wear it if he ever gets picked

Ireland loves ACORNS ! That's all he likes...except for men..he likes men. I can't wait until he and Tony are fired

Torrey Smith might fall to FINS!

Thank you,Sully. And if you're doing 24 on 48 off, I'm assuming you're a firefighter. My right?

Thanks for you service, dude.

What up, homies?

Pats pick a CB from Virginia I never heard of. Ras-I Dowling.

Posted by: Armando Salguero | April 29, 2011 at 06:11 PM

U will and Ras-I Dowling will prove to be a much better pick than CB sean "Poser Boy" smith who hsa now dropped at least 10 bread basket Ints, yet the sheep still think he has "ball skills" or "good hands"

sean only started out of default and a glaring need at that position

Fact is sean smith SUCKS!

Pats And Bills both drafting better CBs in the last hour

Carson Palmer has size 17 shoes, kinda like clown shoes, He might just fit in with this Regime............

Armando, I'm starting to see a few players that you have reported that the dolphins have on their radar. Are we getting concerned yet?

cowkilla, u are a putz.

big mondo i love you

Vince Young is our man for veteran FA QB

Taiwan Jones 4.33 Pro Day speed!

yeah you happen to love everyone mayock

QB VY & RB D. Williams must be acquired in FA
to help the Dolphins have a fighting chance in the 2011 AFC East division

Home has spoken

mando your asuming palmer would of had the same stats here, on oline, old slow running game, a lesser rec corp than cinn. yea your right players automactily have the same stats were every they go.....WILL HE BRING THE 4 WINS WITH HIM TOO?

Is there a Dolphin in the house to announce our pick when we trade up?

down here big mondo, why no exciting skill players for miami-ever

I plan on using you Sunday, little. Wife's orders. Get ready.

Mallet?

Fact is:

Miami Dolphins have the WORST CBs in the AFC EAST

Home has spoken

Cincy did what I expected...you have to think the odds of Palmer being dealt (wth Miami at or near the top of interestd teams) just went way up. Has to be at the right price, though.

It's become obvious that Mallett isn't viewed very favorably. The concerns about his smarts and character have obviously spooked teams. At some point soon he becomes a value pick despite the concerns but it's now evident what an incredible reach he would have been for Miami last night.

every pick - excellent

Ras I Dowling is a stud. its the pats so thats one giveaway that they know what they're doing, unlike the fins who will probably sit, not draft mallet like they should, and then be mediocre again.

ryan mallett

Cayman, nothing we can do about it. Dolphins simply not in play right now. Sucks.

move up?

There's Gonna be alot of Busts in this Draft! It's very weak!

VY and palmer...other peoples garbage. some people just see a big name and get star struck. same people that wanted culpepper

big mondo i cant wait till sunday - let me out right now

Good one cowkilla...How's Lk Mary?

I thought the skins wold take Mallett

Shanahan snubs Slim Shady

Hey Wammbulance... I could give two shyts what you think...your dead mom just rolled over and told me you were a problem child and you were born with both male and female genitals

Dolphins will not acquire a 2nd round pick today

Period

please!! no more mortgaging our draft!! keep all picks for next year!!!

Redskins in need of a QB and with a coach noted for his teaching skills in that department pass on Mallett.

That speaks volumes.

Ireland cannot draft, he's crappy at his job

Ahhhhh My Namisis, Marc, What's up big Dog???????

Chargers have 2 Second round picks!Trade?

big mondo why dont we ever take excitement at skill positions . hurry im starting to leak

whos on the clock at work help....

Dear Mr. Salguero

Dwight Eugene Stephenson played for the Miami Dolphins from 1980 until 1987, when his left knee sustained an injury in a play involving New York Jets Marty Lyons and Joe Klecko.

Do you realize by Comparing Mike Pouncey to Dwight Stephenson the Hated N.Y. Jets will now draft new versions of Marty Lyons and Joe Klecko....its what they do

Soiled :)

Yep Mallett is overrated

Lockout is back on. Pouncey is about to get kicked out of the facility.

Nemisis? I'm good...Just being evil...

Cowkilla...Might be out that way tomorrow night

Armando, the lockout is back on now. Did coach sporano give pouncey a copy of the play book today?

Lockout back? Dammit!

The Judges order was BS.....only given to bring excitement back to football the DAY before the draft.....

After they got the RATINGS THEY WANTED...for round one....

THE LOCK-OUT is back on....

THEY PLAYED US AGAIN.....DAM

Hankerson or Demarco Murray.
