Day Two of the draft is about to begin and two questions dominate:
Will the Dolphins trade into the second round?
As to getting into the second round, I have serious doubts the Dolphins will use their limited ammo to get into the round. That is obviously just a prediction, but I have a hard time believing Miami will invest the kind of capital necessary to come from nowhere to the the second.
That would require the Dolphins giving up their 2012 first round pick.
If the idea is for them to use their third round pick to try to move up into the second round, they still would have to yield either their fourth-round selection or perhaps the third rounder plus a high pick next year. Again, that is a prohibitive price.
I'm not saying the Dolphins would never pay such a price but ...
“I think you can always get ammunition," Ireland said yesterday abou tthe prospects of moving up. "I mean, look what Atlanta did. You always have ammunition I think. You can use your picks up until 2014 if you wanted to. We had a couple players on the board that if they fell to a certain spot then we might have jumped up, but we didn’t choose to do that.”

Why is Ryan Willams still @ radio City Music Hall?

little amondos in the basement or wherever, yes, I've seen Palmer's stats.
Bad year last year: 27 TD passes. 20 ints. 4000 yards. 61 percent completion percentage.
I'll take it considering Henne threw 19 INTs and only 15 TDs.
What would eight more TD passes do for Miami?
Posted by: Armando Salguero | April 29, 2011 at 06:37 PM
Yes Mike Brown is a Loon, But maybe, just maybe he can be convinced to let Palmer to go....

Posted by: little omondo | April 29, 2011 at 06:38 PM
you'd think with all these QB's drafted this year NEXT YEAR IS THE FINS YEAR....
how many more teams need QB's???
Oakland

I would trade a second rounder from next years draft to get in there now and just keep doing that year after year..then we would always still have a pick, we would just be borrowing from the next year every draft...why not, it's better than sitting on our hands while all of these playmakers in positions we desperately need are getting drafted....

Reggie Bush to Fins ? maybe?
Posted by: BLACKCEROTE | April 29, 2011 at 06:40 PM
Darryl, Ireland loves Taiwan Jones. That's all I really know for sure.
Posted by: Armando Salguero | April 29, 2011 at 06:40 PM
Mando,
Just got home(24on48off)to catch up on articles from Wednesday. LOVED the article "Debunked......". One of the best you've written and right on the mark. Wrote the same thing right here at the beginnig of last year. We were still experimenting into the 3rd preseason game. By the way, liked our pick, not sexy, but needed. Again great article.

Dr that's just silly...if there is a good QB available any team would take them and develop them
Posted by: cowkilla | April 29, 2011 at 06:40 PM

Posted by: Eric | April 29, 2011 at 06:40 PM

What up, homies?
Pats pick a CB from Virginia I never heard of. Ras-I Dowling.
Posted by: Armando Salguero | April 29, 2011 at 06:11 PM
U will and Ras-I Dowling will prove to be a much better pick than CB sean "Poser Boy" smith who hsa now dropped at least 10 bread basket Ints, yet the sheep still think he has "ball skills" or "good hands"
sean only started out of default and a glaring need at that position
Fact is sean smith SUCKS!
Pats And Bills both drafting better CBs in the last hour

Carson Palmer has size 17 shoes, kinda like clown shoes, He might just fit in with this Regime............
Posted by: Cuban Menace | April 29, 2011 at 06:43 PM

Cincy did what I expected...you have to think the odds of Palmer being dealt (wth Miami at or near the top of interestd teams) just went way up. Has to be at the right price, though.
It's become obvious that Mallett isn't viewed very favorably. The concerns about his smarts and character have obviously spooked teams. At some point soon he becomes a value pick despite the concerns but it's now evident what an incredible reach he would have been for Miami last night.
Posted by: dr. roberts | April 29, 2011 at 06:47 PM
every pick - excellent
Posted by: little omondo | April 29, 2011 at 06:47 PM
Ras I Dowling is a stud. its the pats so thats one giveaway that they know what they're doing, unlike the fins who will probably sit, not draft mallet like they should, and then be mediocre again.
Posted by: dfleisher | April 29, 2011 at 06:47 PM
ryan mallett
Posted by: Kris | April 29, 2011 at 06:47 PM

Redskins in need of a QB and with a coach noted for his teaching skills in that department pass on Mallett.
That speaks volumes.

Dear Mr. Salguero
Dwight Eugene Stephenson played for the Miami Dolphins from 1980 until 1987, when his left knee sustained an injury in a play involving New York Jets Marty Lyons and Joe Klecko.
Do you realize by Comparing Mike Pouncey to Dwight Stephenson the Hated N.Y. Jets will now draft new versions of Marty Lyons and Joe Klecko....its what they do
Soiled :)
