Mike Pouncey to Dolphins? He doesn't think so

The Dolphins need to upgrade the center position. Like, very much.

Among the most obvious ways the team is likely to do that is either by moving Richie Incognito from guard to center or drafting someone good enough to take over the job as a rookie -- someone like say ... Mike Pouncey.

Except that Mike Pouncey doesn't seem to be exceedingly prominent on the Dolphins' radar and he seems to think he's headed to another NFL team when the draft gets underway later this month.

"... Would be shocked if I wasn't in a Dallas uniform next year!" Pouncey tweeted earlier this afternoon. "The draft is April 28 so we will see."

We shall see. Obviously Pouncey, who was in Dallas for private meetings with the Cowboys on Tuesday and Wednesday, has gotten the idea that team really, really, really likes him. So he thinks that's where he's headed. The Cowboys hold the No. 9 overall pick, which I believe is way, way, way too early to invest on Pouncey.

If Pouncey is correct, perhaps Jerry Jones, with whom Pouncey met, said something about trading down in the first round. Perhaps the Cowboys are looking at Pouncey as their second-round selection -- No. 40 overall. That is all speculative.

This is not: If Pouncey had his choice of teams, he'd be going to Pittsburgh.

"To all the Steelers fans, I would love to be playing for the Steelers and if I had a choice I would," he tweeted, "but it isn't my choice."

Pouncey would "love" to be reunited with his brother Markice, who was Pittsburgh's No. 1 draft pick last year and a great addition to that team. The Pounceys played together at Florida.

Look, Mike Pouncey would be an excellent addition for the Dolphins, especially if they trade down as they want and hope to do in the first round in order to pick up an extra pick later in the second round.

Yes, he had nearly 100 poor snaps throughout the course of the 2010 season, most of those out of the shotgun. That's a concern. But I was told by a scout that is something that will be corrected by good coaching and something his sheer talent can overcome.

The greater point is, if Pouncey is correct, and he is headed to the Cowboys, does that mean the Dolphins need to make other plans at center?

After Pouncey, there is no real first-round option at center and possibly no second-round option, either. FSU's Rodney Hudson is considered a value in the fourth round. Penn State's Stefen Wisniewski is considered a fifth- or sixth-rounder because he doesn't have the strongest lower body in the world. But I like that he comes from a family line of tough-nosed centers, has great ability to recognize defenses and make line calls and is just a flat-out grinder. (Wow, re-reading what I just wrote, maybe he's more a fouth-rounder.)

I'm assuming Slipper Rock's Brandon Fusco is on Miami's board sometime late, although I wonder about the caliber of competition he faced. Oregon State's Alex Linnekohl is also a late-round possibility.

0X80, you need to understand that RBs have different styles. Ronnie Brown is one of those patient RBs who waits for his blockers to make their blocks. Not saying we should keep Ronnie but the dancing in the backfield is a direct result of the OL not getting to their blocks quick enough. Ricky Williams on the other hand will not wait for the blockers if they are not there. That is the main reason his stats were better then Ronnie's.

Most people compare Ingram to Emmit Smith, I even heard people compare him to Ronnie Brown, but in any case if those comparisons are correct then Ingram will need a good OL blocking for him. Smith ran behind one of the best OLs in NFL history, Ronnie did well behind a adequate line in his successful years and like Ronnie Brown, Ingram also has health issues. I am not against drafting a RB but it needs to be the right one and I really don't think Ingram is the right one with the OL that we have in place right now. If we take Ingram we just as well stick with Brown.

Armando any thoughts on the CBA and any QB besides Palmer. What about Vince Y, many here have opinions on him.

I am glad, Armando, that you have put your foot down. Unfortunately, it's the only way to control all these ramparts going on here and you have understood. So, then let's talk Football.

You see, d-dense? You can say anything you want under that name/handle and nothing happens. Go with it!

Armando, I'm not sure that even you since anyone can be anyone they want on this site. Been out here 3-4 years without a problem. Are you saying you're now a cop on this blog? I've got no reason to hide behind someone else's name.

What I'm saying d-dense is that enough people have complained that I am not allowing people to hijack other people's handles.

If you think that's me being a cop, I assure you I don't wear a badge and don't have handcuffs. But I do have the ability to determine what comments will not appear on my blog.

That's a harsh accusation Armando, if you think that's what it is wouldn't it be more appropriate to contact me via email vs the blog. I think I'll contact my lawyer and have them deal with it. If I were you, I'd get rid of those comments. All of them.

ARMANDO,

HOW CAN YOU ALLOW SOME ONE TO FAKE ME FOR A YEAR ,IF IT'S NOT YOU ?

I agree with Ripp. The OL of the Dolphins, at least to me is a big ? Will Incognito be able to handle the Center position at a high level as required by the Dolphins approach to the running game(blocking at the second level)? I doubt it. Will Jerry improve from his first season? Hard to say with this linemen(remember Donald Thomas). Vernon Carey? He played hurt last year, so if he overcomes his injuries, he has always been a good RT. If. It's more than an if. We NEED help in the offensive line.

Not sure that I follow your thoughts here. Are you saying that because I defended Aloco, that makes me Not DB? My friend you are wrong, Aloco has been complaint about it for over a year.

Aloco, earlier this evening I erased half a dozen comments from people impersonating your handle.

You are welcome.

As you wish, d-dense. Enjoy your evening.

Dummy!!!

DELETING HALF A DOZEN POSTS DOSEN'T MAKE YOU A HERO .IT WENT ON FOR A YEAR UNTIL I STARTED TO SAY HOW I FEEL THAT YOU R THE ONE WHO'S FAKING MY NAME AND FEW DAYS LATER YOU TOOK ACTION ,IT'S TO LATE TO EARN MY RESPECT .

IT'S NOT MY STYLE WHEN SOME ONE IS CORNERED TO KEEP HARPING ON HIM.GOOD NIGHT ARMANDO .

Hahaha. Aloco you sound like a retard. If you don't respect Mando why the heck are you on here every day 12 hours a day?

BEFORE I GO , I LIKE THANK NO DYINGBREED AND D-DENSE THE ONLY PEOPLE WHO WERE NOT AFRIAD TO SPEAK THE TRUTH ,WE R ON FOOTBALL SITE WHERE YOU MEET ALL KIND OF PEOPLE WITHOUT SEEING THEM BUT I CAN SAY W/CONFIDENCE THAT TRUTH ALWAYS WINS .

Well anyway who cares what you think. Asked you about the CBA and any QB besides Palmer. You see things from one point of view. What has Palmer done to make you think he could be successful with the Fins.

What do you guys think of Demarco Murray in the 3rd-4th round range? If we are going to run a dink N don'k offense like sparano wants why not get a back who can take a little flair pattern the distance? He accelerates quickly, makes really good cuts, has REALLY good vision.

He has had some injuries over his career at OU but when he was on the field he was really productive catching the ball out of the back field. He can be split out as a receiver - he runs good routes- and returns punts and kick offs.

We are looking to upgrade team speed so here is a guy that can fill multiple rolls on this team (which sparano likes) and really be a threat from anyway on the field.

Mando, ban Aloco, please. The guy can't write in English, doesn't know football, alwasy aggravates people by typing in capital letters, and has no fundamental intelligence.

Other than that, he's a great contributor to the blog.

Ban his crappy butt!

ALEX,

WHY I FEEL YOU DIDN'T EVEN FINISH HIGH SCHOOL ?

I really don't think that Pouncy will be able to contribute in anyway to this team.

I didn't answer your questions d-dense because I was searching the phone book for a paralegal or something so I can begin preparing for the coming legal onslaught from that lawyer you're going to unleash on me.

I am not sure, Pez. If he's going in the first round, forget him. As Mr. Ireland has said, "you cannot leave any stone unturned", and he's right. Even if I don't like the SOB.

No stone unturned so that it benefits us. Wouldn't you agree.

Just because Pouncey is speculating where he'll end up doesn't mean he'd refuse to play for Miami.

It's not like John Elway refusing to play for the Colts...

KIPER is a moron he should keep his mouth shut, miami should draft mallet he has the makings of a elite nfl qb, miami should nabb this guy at #15, it only makes sense look at the guy on film if he didnt have the drug rumors this guy would be the first qb taken off the board. i hope this regime smells whats cooking cause this guys got lots of talent and can take miami to the next level.the #15 pick will be very intrigueing mallet wears number 15 marshall used to wear 15 bess now wears 15 and miami is picking at 15, make it happen regime.!!!!!

Yes, Pez.

ALoco,

I'll be the first to offer you a sincere apology. It really wasnt you who was producing most of the bufoonery here. I now see it was d-dense amongst a few others leading others including myself to think it was you.

Again, my sincerest apologies.

I don't know much about that numerology, jewboy, but I do agree with you that R. Mallet is the #1 QB in this upcoming Draft.

Lil ALoco my hero for President!

Db, you think whatever you want! It wasn't me, I wasn't even on here last night. It's someone, but not me.

I got no beef with you or anyone else out here. My only comment to you had to do with respecting other opinions out here. The blog is not your personal blog. That's it.

Two things:

A starting center helps the running game and the passing game.

second, dyingbreed you owe Mando an apology as well because from what I'm reading he's taken a lot of crap to defend your silly little identity tonight.

ALOCO,

NOW I BELIEVE WHEN YOU SAY YOURE AT WORK, YOURE AT WORK. THERE ARE JUST REAL CREEPS LIKE D-DENSE AND A FEW OTHERS THAT ARMANDO DIDNT NAME. wHO ARE IMPOSTERING YOU AND DRUMMING UP TROUBLE IN YOUR NAME WHILE YOURE AWAY.

IM SO SORRY FOR DOUBTING YOU BUDDY!

WELL D-DENSE ARMANDO NAMED YOU AS A ALOCO IMPERSONATOR AMONST A FEW OTHERS. GUYS WHO IMPERSONATE OTHERS HERE OR USE MULTIPLE SCREEN NAMES TO DRUM UP TROUBLE WITH OTHER POSTERS ARE CREEPS, AS MY BUDDY ALOCO WOULD SAY!

IM POSTING THIS FOR ALL TO SEE:

THIS IS A PUBLIC APOLOGY TO ALOCO FROM ME. IM GUILTY OF UNFAIRLY ACCUSING HIM OF THINGS WHICH I NOW FIND TO BE FALSE. PLEASE ACCEPT MY SINCEREST APOLOGIES MR. ALOCO!

FLPD,

WTF ARE YOU TALKING ABOUT?

Hate to tell you Armando didn't name, he insinuated it based on the fact that I stood up for ALoco. So assume what you will, I'm telling you it wasn't me. I've never impersonated ALoco or anyone else. For what, I don't think we shared anything out here. I don't think I've ever even chatted with you. So think what you will. Check the blogs and show me a single person I've gotten into it with. That's your gimack. in the 3-4 years I've been out here I've never had a problem with a single person.

Personally I believe that Pouncey is not a first round talent especially after seeing him struggle last year at times in his first year at center. I am really tired of the Dolphins going for these safe picks and not going out and getting more impact players. If they use a second round pick on him if he is still available I feel that's fine but definitely not a first. I also find it really interesting that Pouncey is going around predicting where he will go and where he prefers to go weeks before the draft. I do not think that is the best way to go about it but maybe it is an attempt of his to get reunited with his brother where I thought he was much more effective at the guard position.

Well, I'm leaving you guys to solve all these impersonations. Just try to draft Ryan Mallet in the first round.

Db, show me a single post by me in the day time. They don't exist. Either way, not going to sit here and try to convince you. I've said my peace, you don't buy it that's your issue.

Last thing about it I think we've beat it to death. How do I even know that's it was Armando. It could have been anyone as far as I'm concerned. They don't even check the email address or anything. Anyone could have posted on his behalf. That's it I'm done, not fighting this fight with you. Pretend I'm not here and I'll do the same for you.

d-dense,

Maybe you arent a part of this. If not I apologize. But Im sure you agree that who ever the culprits are they are real creeps.

I'm here to talk football. I was watching the heat game and missed the end to deal with these false accusations. Anyway, hope everyone learns something from this.

Sure seems to me a lot of people here tonight are not understanding anything anyone is saying. It's very strange. Also, I didn't see where Armando accused anyone in particular of impersonating Aloco. He merely stated he deleted a bunch of fake Aloco posts tonight, and nothing more.

Please let's go after Vince Young and an old vet QB screw the draft this year unless it's Cam let's improve this team with proven vets the draft is for projects this year, unless you have a top 10 pick

And leave the drama for the ladies

Mr.Salguero,

The tag line of your blog states:

"Everything Dolphin: No subject is taboo, no deadlines, no space crunch."

But that really isn't true. Somethings are taboo. By your own admission you have censored the blog on numerous occasions over the years. While on certain American holidays you like to express gratitude for freedom of speech, your blog is by your own admission an exception to that.

It is your blog. You do have the right to manage it however you like, however your tag line is a bit contradictory, if not hypocritical. Therefore, if you are going to censor your blog, I think its only fair to change that tag line to something else. Perhaps "Keep it clean or I will terminate you", or "I rule my blog world as I please", anything that fits in with reality is fine, but what you have now is a bit of false advertising.

Great post 0x80, it's a censored site by the design of his highness. Not a professional journalist at all. Really disappointed in the way that he upholds freedom of speech when it suits him.

...The greatest sporting event on the planet begins tommorow. I'm bummed I didn't get to go this year. Can anyone believe it has been 25 years since Jack Nicalaus won at age 46? How time flies. 86, and 97 the 2 best years of the event in miy opinion.

Anyway.. Back to football. Excuse me if you could care less about golf. Any news about the hearing today reguarding the CBA? I just got home, and my satellite dish is covered in snow and ice from my roof sliding.

The main reason I am so high on Pouncey at #15 is because the risk at choosing at that pick, he fills a need and is less of a gamble than many other individuals we could pick there. If we can trade down than great. I do not believe there will be many trade partners available this year and the draft overall is on the weak side compared to most years. Why take another risk with a player that has a history of injuries? Character? We don't have a second round pick so we need to make the first one count. How did trading out of our spot last year work for us? Just saying... GO DOLPHINS!

Amando@7:38, Thank you, bro... it was getting stupid...

Let's get back to FooTBALL!

Picking Pouncey at 15, he's a late 2nd to early 4th rounder....you wouldn't want him early.

Hudson & Wisniewski are probably 2nd or 3rd rd picks... Danny Watkins is rated 1st-2nd rd

get over it guys, whether u like it or not we're all here because we can't help coming to this blog to punt about ideas on the fins

i come because many of u guys construct great arguments with your beliefs/ideas even when they're complete opposites

not to mention the humour

the only downside is the petty snipes

if armando was a boring schoolteacher we wouldn't come here, we're allowed to praise him or slag him off in equal measure

i for one think he's a very clever journalist who knows how to get us blogging

as a starving wolf at least i get to smell food on this site

i even think that occasionally he has some good insights but not about trading for cp that's a dud

ok i'm a suck up creep

bring it on armando

bring it on bloggers

feed me

Well this has got to the point that I can't do this anymore....Good posts have gone to the way-side.How old are......Some humans need to grow up.

I participate in this blog because I like Dolphins football. Not to read retarded threads from some mental midget who wants attention. If you need attention go get help. Turn the lights on in the basement and put some pants on. Talk football or get outta here.

Miami should trade down in the first round and pick up Pouncey. This would enable themto get a 2nd round pick. This would make their O-Line oneof the best in the NFL as well as make their QB better and allow them to go out and get a RB in free agency. Draft a receiver in the third round, a tight end and more. I would keep Ricky for 2 more years, cut ties with Brown, he was a bust, underachieved during his time. We paid Brown $42M for naught!! Check out my site, clickon my name to view.

Trade down......
Pick RB, TE, fast receiver and best available the rest of the way.
At RB i would have Ronnie re sign for couple of yrs, with the rookie, Hilliard an Sheets, let Ricky and Cobbs go.
I think we can address our guard situation by bringing Robert Gallery , I think that will be our FA target and any of the veterans QB (Palmer via trade , Young, Mcnabb)

ok we keep talking trades so i've had a bit of a look and am throwing these out there mainly for info i'm not really saying thy're gonna happen or even that my suggestions are good ideas or realistic just a useful reference coz it intrigues me what irelands gonna do, ive left some unlikelies out and included up to 4th round

trade down potential (2 pic up their 1st and second)for teams wanting to move up to make a grab for 1 player

falcons(27,59,91,124)

ravens (26,58,90,123)

bears (29,62,93,127)

packers (32,64,96, 129+131)almost a 2 and 3 but areal possibility because of that as they have 2 4th's esp if gave up 1,2 and a 4 in trade for 15

colts (22, 53,87,119)

chiefs (21,55,86,118)

saints (24,56,72+88) no 4th,5th,6th but 2 7ths

they might do something complex giving us their 24,56 and 88 for our 15 a 4th and/or a 5th for example, whether we'd want to lose 4+5 for a 2 i dunno

giants (19,52,83,117)

eagles (23,54,85,104+120) and 2x5th

steelers (31,63,95,128)

chargers 18,50+61,82+89) no 4th 5th

maybe weird/complex trades-

chargers (at 18 they're unlikely to have a need to do a deal so we have to give them a reason)are another team who might go with a complex swap prob best if involving them trading down first then up to 15 - that would have to be pre-arranged or if just miami they might consider giving up 2 2's and 1 or both 3rds for our first leaving us with no first rounder but gaining 4 picks i think they'd want our 4th and or 5th in return for that though and whether the'd buy it or we'd buy it who knows i'm just throwing it out there

and bills (3,34,68,100+122)

very risky to trade with your enemies but if we give them our first and take their 2 (close to a first),3rd (clsoe to a second) and one 4th we might be evens

bronco's (2,36,46,67) no 4,5 again they might trade 2 2nds and a third for our first, 2 2nds doesn't seem like a good deal to me but 36 is a high second so maybe ireland would consider this, trading their 2 2nds and the 3rd again quite high would be interesting esp if we gave them a 4th or 5th back

they might ( but i think its

i've left the pats and jest out out coz u know all about them and the jets don't have a second either
