D.J. Williams, good man, good tight end, good fit

The Dolphins have Arkansas tight end D.J. Williams on their draft radar.

There have been, in fact, reports that when the Dolphins went to Fayetteville, Arkansas and worked out both Williams and quarterback Ryan Mallett, that it was Williams who was more intriguing to the team. I don't exactly know if I buy that.

But I know the Dolphins can use an upgrade at tight end. And Williams would be one. And that's why Williams has been the focus of much Dolphins personnel work and attention.

On Tuesday, Williams spent some time with me on my Armando and the Amigo radio show in South Florida. I asked Williams if he's noticed extra attention from the Dolphins?

"I want to say yes, but I don't want to sit there on draft day and hear, "the Miami Dolphins select," and they don't pick me. So I'll just leave it there," Williams said. "They have shown me interest, I will say that. We had a good time and had lunch with [offensive coordinator Brian Daboll] and everyone else when they worked us out."

At one point during that private workout in Arkansas, Williams volunteered to play the piano at general manager Jeff Ireland's wedding anniversary party.

"I figured, why not?" he said.

Williams said Tampa Bay, the Vikings, and the Texans are among the other teams who have also shown a high amount of interest in him.

So what will an NFL team get from Williams?

"I'm going to try to be the best the NFL has seen," he said.

Williams fits the Miami mold. He's 6-2 and 250 pounds, he's productive, he comes with a resume of having played in the Southeastern Conference, and he's a good man. Remember last year the Dolphins showed they want to add solid citizens to the roster.

Williams is an inspiration. As a child his mom was involved in an abusive relationship with his father in Texas. It got so bad his mom had to move the family to a shelter in the same state. Not far enough away, apparently, from the abuser so she changed her plans and decided to leave the state.

"We were sitting there in Dallas and my mom wanted to move further away," Williams said. "She pulled out a map and told me, 'Where are we going?' I just put my finger on a spot. I was young at the time, I didn't know what I was doing. I put my finger on the map and it landed in Little Rock, Arkansas, so we packed up and left. We lived in a shelter there for a time and pretty much worked our way up from there. We're in a good spot now, living nice."

Williams freely recounts his tale. He says his experiences have colored the person he is today.

"I was young but you always have that feeling that something's not right. I witnessed a lot of stuff going down between my parents. Just tthe fear and all that in my mom's eyes, you just know something's not right.

"But I wouldn't change anything because it's made me who I am today and it's made my family stronger. In life and even in football, adversity is going to come and it's how you respond that matters. It's like sandpaper. It's going to rub on you, but if you stay in it, it'll get worn down but you're going to come out smooth."

We asked Williams for first-hand information on Mallett, the quarterback the Dolphins also have on their radar.

You can hear the entire Williams interview, including what he said about Mallett, on the Armando and the Amigo podcast right here.

Aloco...what leads you to believe what you posted @ 3:34?

Where does leave us Aloco? Who we takin??

I mentioned this the other day, but didn't check responses, so want to put it out there again.

Read an article where Ingram was compared to Adrian Peterson. Anyone see that? Craig, you're high on Ingram, would you compare him to Peterson?

I'm not dogging him here, I'm asking an honest question. I haven't seen him enough to compare him to anyone (though the Emmitt Smith seems like a good comparison in body type/run style).

Gotta finnish up some work and get my butt home, catch you guys in a few !!

Chior Boys?

Locker room cancers?

I don't know nothing about it!

If I could Frankenstein Dick Butkis's attitude into Chad Henne's brain, we would be Super Bowl bound!

And yes, if it meant a Super Bowl, I'd be just fine with Henne spitting on opposing defenders!

Get me some PLAYMAKERS with some NASTY ATTITUDES!!!!

KRIS/DOLFAN........

ROSS WILL NOT PERMIT IRELAND TO GAMBLE WITH HIS MONEY......

MALLET HAS MORE RED FLAGS THAN........... I CAN'T FINISH
INGRAM........ WENT TO BOSTON TO BE LOOKED AT BY MEDICAL PEOPLE AND LEFT BOSTON WITHOUT A WORD ...............

POUNCY... IS RISKY TO THE MEDICAL REPORT WHICH CAME AFTER HIS COMBINE ................

SO.... ALL THAT HYPE YOU GUYS BROUGHT ON US BY ,DB,0X80,KRIS,FIN4LIFE JUST WENT DOWN HELL .

DC......Emmitt was an average back....with an above average heart....who played behind a HOF line.......

NFL Network showed one of the 2nd Dallas Cowboys SB this past weekend.....

On many of those highlights...Emmitt wasn't even touched until 5-10 yards down feild.....

No comparison to emmitt is a good one if you ask me....unless your compating heart size....

ODIN,

YOU KEEP SAYING THE SAME THING NOW FOR 3 YEARS AND WE STILL IN THE GUTTER...........CHANGE A LITTLE ,IT MAY PAY OFF .

Agree with Odin@3:32 as well. Just please bring him back in and give the damn ball on 3rd or 4th and 1!!!!!!!!!!!

I did not write about turds. My posts are about lobsters.

I do not care what the public reaction will be when I provlaim to complete strangers how magnificent lobsters are.

If they feel free to talk to me about their "Gods" and interest in "Dancing With The Stars" or other such claptrap, I shall be emboldfened to discuss the mighty LOBSTER with them!

Excuse me, but Emmitt Smith was no average back. Probably, the one who is average is you, kris.

DC,

That wasn't directed at anyone in particular.

Kris and I were having a good back and forth the other night. While Kris and I disagree on Mallet, we couldn't be closer in our thinking on Henning. Especially in respect to his passing philosophies.

One of the points I was whining about, was how Henning NEVER went to a hurry up, spread, and hardly ever a three wide in which we actually threw out of.

I always get carried away when I think of what Henning did to this team. I was in the minority, but even after we went 11-5, I was STILL posting that Henning is our biggest problem on offense. Even way back then. Check the archives.

My point is, when in the two minute offense the FB shouldn't even be on the field-PERIOD-LOL!!!!

This seems to have escaped Hennings and hurt out team as whole and Henne's development in particular.

To sum up, DISGUSTING!!!!

I apologize if this came off as an attack on anyone, especially you DC-LOL!

Future Perdictions by me(Besides a 3 ands 13 record for the mighty air breathers)#1 Odin will consume 15 liters of jack before the start of the season, #2NJ Flim flam will win"Man of the year" for his contributions to the Idea that "Plumbing is everything"He'll win the Nobel pease pirze for his pluMbing iDEAS#3)nATHANAL Doddswoth will declear his president bid on MTV,.#4)Luther(Luke)Campbell will be elected to be the new Mayor of Miami(Actually this is not being funny)(after Recalling Manny this just might come to be)(Sorry South Fla) So this is what the Menace sees for the future...........

Well!, now you have a point Lobster! Dancing with the Stars indeed!

Moisture.

Oscar...my opinion....and I will respect yours as well....

feel better.....

Reading ESPN's Gary Horton founder of Scouts Inc. His take on Brian Daboll's passing game doesn't sound very inspiring.

"he will attack the middle of the field with LOW RISK (my caps) to tight ends and slot receivers and his style emphasizes yards after catch".

Safety Chris Clemons is identified as the weal link on the defense because "offenses absolutely destroy them in deep middle of the field".

I do agree with that.

Things as interesting as searching a message board archive:

Reading about the history of buttons.

Watching the collected works of Paulie Shore.

Staring at a bottle of mouthwash for three days.

Uff, petrograd, I have plenty of moisture in my house. Please.

Scouts.com still has Pouncey and Ingram on there board at 17 and 21 respectively.

I have decided however to start advocating Muhammed Wilkerson (you heard it here first) as our 1st rd pick at 15.

Even though it's perhaps our deepest position at least I can fist pump that they picked who i wanted when our FO blows our minds again!!

"I feel good....", James Brown.

lol @ oscar....

It is true that Csonka scored plenty of TDs on traps, odin, but yes, that was then an this is now. The modern FB is a different beast.

"I have bladder control issues..." Mrs. Edna Turnblad of Nutley, New Jersey.

Can we eat the lobsters??? Maybe at the draft party??

On many of those highlights...Emmitt wasn't even touched until 5-10 yards down field.....

Another great post.

It's an "unofficial" stat, but it is kept. Emmitt Smith holds the "unofficial" record for initial yards gained before contact.

I'm not being facetious and this is NO "shot" at Smith. On the contrary, it's just further confirmation that he ran behind one of the best Offensive Lines EVER assembled.

I forget at the moment who keeps this stat and for how long they've been doing it. But it is kept by someone within the NFL.

DC,

As for the comparisons between Ingram and Peterson, I can only give you my opinion. Real short and sweet: I don't see it NOW, tomorrow or EVER!

This isn't really a negative opinion(in my opinion-lol). Even if Ingram ended up being a Hall of Famer, it still wouldn't be as an Adrian Peterson type of running back.

Well, here comes another one of these characters, the Lady that pisses everywhere. I wonder why she hasn't sought help. Must be exhibitionistic.

Aloco,

What can I say? I drink A LOT! I say EVERYTHING over and over and over..............

Gutter?

Payoff?

I'm not sure of which ramblings you speak? A little help for the Drunken Viking please?

SERIOUSLY????

But kris, odin, DC, this has been written before. RB's are the most diverse kind in the game of Football and of course, they cannot be compared.

Kris, as I recall, we do not agree on much at all... that being said, I think you are more correct than most on Emmitt Smith. I would say he was a "good" back, better than average. but he was only a household name and a superstar because of theat offensive line. They were one of the best in history. I also feel as if that is why aikman was considered good. I think that was a good post.

Hmm..

Cuban,

While I choose to "overlook your negative outlook"(3-13) I do take exceptions to at least ONE of your predictions.

Only 15 litre's of Jack? Come on Now!

Much to the detriment of Roman prestiege, they too, catastrophically underestimated the dedication of Crazy Vikings!

In fact, "The Viking Nation" was the ONLY civilization to successfully ward off Roman Domination.

Bottom's UP!!!!

Ingram-Peterson comparison is weird to me. Peterson runs harder and is faster. I think that is a stretch big time.

1st Kyle Rudolph TE Notre Dame
3rd Greg Little WR North Carolina
4th Eustis Drane DE McNeese State
5th Jack Pollock OG Oregon State
6th Michael Escher RB Fresno
7th Ron Magritte S Shippensburg
7th Remy Brandt RB Tulsa

Poizen....

I think we agree on alot.....our main point of conmtention is Henne.....but most of the stuff you post...other than Henne is great....I fall in line with

I think many of us agree more than we think.....oiur overall goal is unquestioned.....its which road to take that gets us squaking like hens.....

I guess the Henne thing comes up so often, that it seems we don't. Still, again, great point on Emmitt

Ahem, yds after contact for Emmitt. Anybody knows?

charlie sheen joke on mallet...........(( HEY, CAN SOME ONE CALL MALLET AND TELL HIM TO COME BACK TO HOUSE,H LEFT HIS BONG,HE LEFT HIS HERB ,HIS SENSIMILLA , HE LEFT IT AT MY HOUSE )) SHEEN JOKED AND ((I AM LIKE,I AM DRUG FREE-COME GET YOUR STUFF YOUNG MAN )).

link please ALOCO.....

just like the NON-EXISTENT LINK TO MARSHALL'S 32 DROPS.....

ALoco,

The recent article stated Ingram and his Dr say his knee is 100%. The only single person to say anything different was Lombardi 'suggesting' he may have a problem.

If Ingram and his Dr say his knee is 100%, I have to give that more weight than a sports writers unqualified opinion. The media plays games for all sorts of reasons.

Also, you stated eariler today that PFT said Mallett was out partying last night. However, PFT did not say or imply that, only you did. Let's try to stick to the facts and not the tabloids.

KRIS...

1- GOOGLE ..MALLET'S RUMORS
2-PRESS ON THE 8TH ITEAM ...YARDBREAKER THEN SCROLL DOWN UNTILE YOU SEE SHEEN COMMENT AND PRESS ON THAT

Aloco.....to make such assertions....without links to back up your inflammatory charges.....you really do yourself a great discredit.....

KRIS ,I GAVE YOU THE LINK TO SHEEN QUOTE WHICH HE MADE ON (( DAN PATRICK'S SHOW ))

OK....i'll check it out

Aloco,

Do us all a favor and post a link with your comments. Don't say google this or that and choose the 8th item. Post the actual link.

Also I hope you are not making the mistake of reading those brief statements under the link on the google search, they are often very misleading... you actually have to click the link and READ the article.

What about Ingram coparison to Knowhon Morino. I think that may be more accurate

Bro, you can't compare RB's Period

KRIS, WHEN YOU GET TO SHEEN CAN YOU PROVIDE THE LINK TO 0X80 .

ALOCO.....YOU PROVIDE THE LINK.....ITS YOUR ACCUSATIONS NOT MIN.....

;LIKE 0x80 SAID.....YOUR CHARGE...YOUR LINK.....

I'LL WAIT

ox80,

if you google (( SHENN COMMENT ON MALLET )) YOU WILL GET MORE THAN WHAT YOU BARGINED FOR .

WHERE CAN I FIND THE LINK KRIS ?

That Sheen family looks Cuban as hell.

I am not saying the comparison is accurate, but from numbers posted and offenses through college, I think they project similar. I am by far no RB expert though.

Just thought type of stuff here oscar, not claiming it to be fact.

Great work by M. Sheen in Apocalypse now. Charlie was good in Platoon, too.

Aloco...that was a Sheen joke....and YOU KNOW THAT.....no proof from that link

Charlie was great with chris tucker in Money Talks, classic movie, funny as hell...
