D.J. Williams, good man, good tight end, good fit

The Dolphins have Arkansas tight end D.J. Williams on their draft radar.

There have been, in fact, reports that when the Dolphins went to Fayetteville, Arkansas and worked out both Williams and quarterback Ryan Mallett, that it was Williams who was more intriguing to the team. I don't exactly know if I buy that.

But I know the Dolphins can use an upgrade at tight end. And Williams would be one. And that's why Williams has been the focus of much Dolphins personnel work and attention.

On Tuesday, Williams spent some time with me on my Armando and the Amigo radio show in South Florida. I asked Williams if he's noticed extra attention from the Dolphins?

"I want to say yes, but I don't want to sit there on draft day and hear, "the Miami Dolphins select," and they don't pick me. So I'll just leave it there," Williams said. "They have shown me interest, I will say that. We had a good time and had lunch with [offensive coordinator Brian Daboll] and everyone else when they worked us out."

At one point during that private workout in Arkansas, Williams volunteered to play the piano at general manager Jeff Ireland's wedding anniversary party.

"I figured, why not?" he said.

Williams said Tampa Bay, the Vikings, and the Texans are among the other teams who have also shown a high amount of interest in him.

So what will an NFL team get from Williams?

"I'm going to try to be the best the NFL has seen," he said.

Williams fits the Miami mold. He's 6-2 and 250 pounds, he's productive, he comes with a resume of having played in the Southeastern Conference, and he's a good man. Remember last year the Dolphins showed they want to add solid citizens to the roster.

Williams is an inspiration. As a child his mom was involved in an abusive relationship with his father in Texas. It got so bad his mom had to move the family to a shelter in the same state. Not far enough away, apparently, from the abuser so she changed her plans and decided to leave the state.

"We were sitting there in Dallas and my mom wanted to move further away," Williams said. "She pulled out a map and told me, 'Where are we going?' I just put my finger on a spot. I was young at the time, I didn't know what I was doing. I put my finger on the map and it landed in Little Rock, Arkansas, so we packed up and left. We lived in a shelter there for a time and pretty much worked our way up from there. We're in a good spot now, living nice."

Williams freely recounts his tale. He says his experiences have colored the person he is today.

"I was young but you always have that feeling that something's not right. I witnessed a lot of stuff going down between my parents. Just tthe fear and all that in my mom's eyes, you just know something's not right.

"But I wouldn't change anything because it's made me who I am today and it's made my family stronger. In life and even in football, adversity is going to come and it's how you respond that matters. It's like sandpaper. It's going to rub on you, but if you stay in it, it'll get worn down but you're going to come out smooth."

We asked Williams for first-hand information on Mallett, the quarterback the Dolphins also have on their radar.

You can hear the entire Williams interview, including what he said about Mallett, on the Armando and the Amigo podcast right here.

No disrepect Aloco,

But! Isn't Charlie Sheen that drug addict that rants and raves about having Tiger's blood and Adonis DNA?

No thanks, I'd rather stick to the sober rumor mongers like Mayock, Lombardi, etc, etc.

I would like the link to Mallet blowing off the Panthers. If he did, I couldn't blame him, I mean they're the Panthers after all-LOL!

Seriously though, I wouldn't put one lick of credence to any of his agents denials people. I mean there is a conflict of interest there, Hello! The farther Mallet slides, the less the scumbag leech makes, duh.

DEAD LINK...TRY AGAIN ALOCO

KRIS.... I KNOW .....SO IT'S TRUE HE MADE THE JOKE,I DIDN'T SAY OTHER WISE ........THAT SHEEN IS SURE FUNNY .

Odin,

Don't ever take what you say as a personal attack (you're one of the "friendlies" here), but thanks for clearing up the post. I agree 100% with you by the way.

Also, I agree w/you on the Ingram/Peterson comparison (I don't really see it, but wanted to confirm since I didn't watch much Ingram at 'Bama).

AC, not necessarily comparing RBs, just how good/effective they are. I know they all run differently, do different things.

Poizen, you and I are pretty much eye-to-eye on Ingram (and if he's a Moreno type, then we should in NO WAY take him in the first rd).

Aloco...your so full of SH*T

play with somebody else....

how about I just start making up SH*T about you and start POSTING FAKE LINKS.....

I CAN ONLY SPEAK FOR MYSELF.....BUT FOR ME.....EVERYTHING YOU POST FROM HERE ON OUT WILL BE STICTLY FOPR ENETERTAINMENT PURPOSE'S......

YOU HAVE REDUCED YOURSELF TO JOKE STATUS....IN MY EYES....

Good night all, talk to you all tomorrow.

KRIS,

THANKS FOR THE INSULT BUT YOU STATED EARLIER IT WAS TRUE BUT A JOKE I AGREE ........

Never said it was TRUE.....YOU said that....NOT ME.....

You tried to pass it off as true.....until questioned harder...

You insult us all with your half-truths and out-right lies.....

KRIS... IT'S OK TO PICK CRAPPY PLAYER FOR US TO DRAFT ,I SALUTE YOUR HONESTY .

MALLET
INGRAM

Aloco, Kris, Somebody!

Where do I read about Mallet Partying last night?

Any links OR ANYTHING on him blowing off the Panthers?

I've pretty much formed MY OWN OPINION on Mallet, BEFORE all the rumors.

Still, I'd like to keep up with this "evolution" of Mallets character/issues.

If all these things are untrue, then someone is perpetrating a humongus fraud. I'd like to try and figure it out.

I mean, one example could be some FO perpetrating "leaks" in the hopes that he takes a similar timble Ala Marino.

Enquiring minds want to know.............

Yeah a TE
Maybe one that can split the seam or actually block

What a concept for the Blowfish

odin, that someone making up the rumors is the illustrious aloco, just playing games, using the bloggers like wind up toys. don't be so gullible.

Maybe the Blowfish wont lose 7 out of 8 games in their own stadium this year

Maybe the Blowfish wont LAY AN EGG every freakin prime time game this season, like last season

ODIN,

LOOKS LIKE THE MALLET RUOMR ABOUT LAST NIGHT DRINKING IS NOT TRUE AS FAR AS THE PANTHERS COACHES ARE CONCERNED B/C THEY HAD DINNER W/HIM UNTIL 8;30 PM THEN HE WENT TO HIS ROOM WITH HIS FRIEND AND THEN GOT SICK, NO ONE KNOW WHAT HAPPENED . .....SOME REPORTS ARE SAYING, THAT OTHER QB'S AGENTS ARE LEAKING THAT INFO IN THE HOPE HE SLIDS AND THEIR CLIENTS GO UP IN THE DRAFT .

Looking for the Blowfish to go 8-8 this 2011 season, competeing for last place in the division with Buffalo

The Dolphins Suck
Period

SIMON.... GO TO WWW.LOSTLETTERMAN.COM FOR THE SHENN COMMENT ........ THEN GO TO PFT RE THE MALLET RUMOR ...THEN GO HAVE A MEATBALL SUB .

Patriots are gonna clean up in the draft

Dolphins will be lookin for another "Broken O Dick"

KRIS,

THANKS FOR THE INSULT BUT YOU STATED EARLIER IT WAS TRUE BUT A JOKE I AGREE ........

Kris,

Aloco is a genius. You're simply misinterpreting his post. Allow me:

-THANKS FOR THE INSULT

You resorted to name calling first.

-BUT YOU STATED EARLIER IT WAS TRUE BUT A JOKE

You "agreed" that Sheen indeed made a JOKE about Mallet.

-I AGREE ........

He's agreeing that indeed it was a joke.

That Aloco, he's crazy alright. Crazy like a FOX!

Realistically the Dolphins could replace all but 3or 4 players of offense to compete with the rest of the NFL

The Dolphins Suck
Period

Simon,

Come on, get in the game.

Aloco didn't make up the fact that he was arrested for public intoxication.

Nor was he responsible for ALL the drug rumors.

Somebody is commiting charagter assassinations on this prospect and I'd like to know why.

There were RUMORS that Shula leaked the drug allegations on Marino.

While I don't believe it, I wouldn't put it past someone to be at least attempting to make history repeat itself.

Which reminds me, here's my philosophical thought for the day:

Everytime history repeats itself, the price of the lesson goes up................

Who do u think the Patriots will pick up with their 2 picks in the 1st and 2 picks in the 2nd

LMAO!

Oh yeah, cannot wait for that home opener against NE

ODIN,

...HOW COME I DON'T SEE KRIS SAYING TO YOU RE THE POST @ 5;33 PM ...(( WELL SAID)) ....HOW COME,HE'S BEEN SAYING THAT TO ALL YOUR POSTS TODAY ?

odin, get with the program. we are not talking malletts ancient history. earilier today aloco clearly posted that PFT was saying mallett cancelled his interview because he was sick when really he was out partying. aloco just made up the partying stuff...pft made no such claim.

SIMON/KRIS... YOU OWE ME AN APOLOGY ,AN APOLOGY SENATOR .

Aloco,

Kris doesn't know you as well as I know or for as long either.

Seriously, the Mallet supporters are getting a little uptight with the rumor mill stuff. To them, it's no joking matter.

I can't say I blame them either. This stuff is going over the top lately.

I'm no Mallet supporter, but a lot of these so-called journalists today are sickening!

odin you are missing the point that aloco dude made the stuff up today right here on the blog, not some reporter. i give up. now i know why i never blog.

AGREE ODIN........ THE SO CALLED JOURNALISTS ARE HEYNAS .IT'S THE PRAY TIME ,DRAFT TIME .

ARMANDO IS NO HEYNA.

COME ON KRIS, DON'T GET UPSET . SORRY IF I OFFENDED YOU IN ANY WAY .I LOVE TO READ YOUR POSTS .YOU JUST A REAL HARDCORE FAN ,SORRY AGAIN .

Simon,

Maybe we're misunderstanding each other.

I don't consider Mallet's past two years at Arkansas ancient history.

Aloco aside, are you saying that there have been no allegations in the press about Mallets evening and consequent cancellation of interviews with Carolina?

My inquiry supersedes the scope of this Blog.

I do suspect that there is an ongoing character assassination attempt being directed at Mallet. Though it's probably in vain, I'd like to know the Who's and the whys.

So, Aloco aside, I'm just trying to get the facts man, just the facts...............

MALLET HAS A LOT OF RED FLAGS ,IT'S A FACT.IS ROSS WILLING TO TAKE A RISK ON HIM ??????? NO CHANCE IN HELL ,HE WOULD....

So........can DJ Williams block or is he mostly going to be used as a receiver?

odin. i will try to spell it out one last time. this is the same issue kris was complaining about:

aloco said that PFT was reporting that mallet cancelled his interview because he was sick, but that he was really out partying lat night. but pft only reported that mallet was sick and was in bed early and confirmed by his agent, pft never reported he was out partying and not sick. aloco made up the part that he wasn't sick but out partying, pft never said that. this is only about the history of the last 24 hours, not that other stuff.

Aloco,
Stephen Ross is a billionaire because he takes risks.
Parcells was a mediocre coach/gm/czar with a career .500 record because he did not take risks.
Taking risk means willing to lose in order to win.
Perfect example: Al Davis. Sure he looks like a retard a lot of the time. He's also won at least one SB in every decade.

PM,

Um...Raiders did not win a SB in over two decades now.

Simon,

I'm not very good at speeling, but I'll try to SPELL IT OUT FOR YOU!

1. I understand the Kris and Aloco thing.

2. PFT is NOT the only news outlet on the planet.

3. I wouldn't believe ANYTHING a sleeze ball agent has to say about Jack Shyt!

My ORIGINAL question is and was, are there any allegations being made by ANY outlets/news sources pertaining to Mallets evening and consequent cancelation?

I don't get it, am I typing to fast for you or are you just swinging on Mallets nads that hard?.

The rumors regarding Mallett are unfounded, with the exception of the Intoxication charge.

Unlike Michael Phelps (pictured with a smoking bong) there is not a single shred of evidence supporting the rumor.

An addict usually has crimminal possession charges; a supplier that snitches after getting busted; a mad girlfriend ready to blackmail her ex; etc...

Like granny use to say, "Where's the BEEF?"

Now it wouldn't SURPRISE me any at all if Mallett acted like many other college kids and experimented with some drugs, but I believe once he gets in the NFL, making millions, his lifestyle will change accordingly.

Most college grads go through this transition. Even the ones that slip into blue-collar jobs.

It's called, "maturing".

DC,

I read your comments and the article comparing Ingram to Peterson. I like Ingram as you know but I don't see the comparison. They are built differently and Peterson is more explosive. I still think The Emmitt smith comparison is more fitting. I'm not saying he'll be Smith, only that their builds are similar and they run the same. I've heard the Moreno comparisons too but I've read that people like Ingram better and Moreno went 12th. Take that to mean whatever you want. I actually like Moreno as a back, he's just been a bit injured. DC, if he's anything like Moreno I don't think that precludes us from taking Ingram in the first.

Charlie Casserley also has said that Ingram will have to prove his long-term health. He has gone on record as saying he thinks Leshoure should be the top back in this draft, assuming of course that Leshoure has his head on straight as a pro.

Odin....

Its like Simon said...and like you said.....He ALOCO charater is crazy like a fox.....if that means LIES LIKE A RUG!

You saw and read for yourself....even re-posted it.....

Non-facts....outright lies....

Then when caught.....passes them off as if I POSTED THAT CRAP.....

Then when called on that....say it was all a joke...whatever......

Its that crap....that makes blogging regularly on this site intolerable....small doses'

Opinions are one thing.....we are ALL entiltled to them....and have a GOD GIVEN RIGHT TO THEM....

But OUT-RIGHT LIES....with phony links is another.......

and should not be tolerated or believed......

ricardo lockette is missing from the hbcu classic list

Guys, I have no problem with Ryan Mallett if we were talking simply his supposed "drug allegations" So far from what I`ve read they are pretty unsubstantiated. I do have a problem with comparing him to Marino and I`ll tell you why.

Dan Marino was a one of a kind, alot of you think he broke out with the Mark`s Bro`s but not true (Nat moore/Duriel Harris), Marino came in week 6 of his rookie season (I was there) vs. Buff. and never looked back because Dan Marino had without a doubt the quickest release anybody had ever seen. His release was so quick that NFL DC thought they could Blitz him and slow it down and he burned them week in week out.

Marino had something else Aloco, do you remember him slipping and slidding when the pocket was collapsing. He was a magician doing it so, go watch NFL films cause they know so little that they rate Marino`s ability to do this (slip the pocket), as 10th all time, in Q.B.`s with mobility.

GULPDOLPHINS........

ROSS WOULD SAY ....LET HIM MATURE ON SOME ONE ELSE'S MONEY .

PS...THE STORY ABOUT LAST NIGHT OF MALLET ISN 'T OVER YET .....WE WILL SEE WHAT HAPPENED ..........NOW THE CINC BEGALS HVE AN APPOINTMENT WITL PONDER IN 2 DAYS.THERE WERE TALK THAT CINC WILL DRAFT LOCKE OR MALLET .

Aloco may have imbellished but he didn't make it up. Go tp PFT and clock on bang it here and then scroll down to Agents, Panthers respond to Mallett report.

Or click on...lol

odin, sorry i did not have a chance to read all material published today on mallett. the simple issue was that aloco intentionally misconstrued todays PFT report. that is the only thing this thing was about, the pft report, nothing else. aloco said that pft reported mallet was really not sick but out partying. pft never reported that, aloco totally made it up to make his post have more shock value. if you want to know what
the other news outlets have to say feel free to read them.

KRIS, AGAIN .........YOU ACCUSE ME OF POSTING WITH MANY NAMES AND YOU R NOT ASHAMED OF POSTING UNDER SIMON ...ANY KID UNDER 3 CAN SEE THAT .......................DON'T BE SO DRAMA ,WE LIVE IN THE AGE OF THE INTERNET .

PS...MALLET'S STORY ISN'T DONE YET.......WE NEED TO KNOW EVERY THING ON THAT GUY .

if we trade out of the first round completely we may still be able to get one of the faster receivers in smith or baldwin or one of the backs; williams or leshoure or we can get watkins or hudson or kaepernick or dalton at qb. so, if we got the receiver or back and then the o-lineman it would be well worth it to do so. or get the qb and the back/receiver/o-lineman. then, if we wish we can target dj williams in the third round and get our seam te. that would be a productive first three rounds and we would have a good base for building the future. in the fourth we can add someone like dion lewis or derrick locke, lockette in the 6th to add more speed and depth at the wr position and the 7th we could go for bartholomew, johnny white and jt thomas. i keep adding thomas at the end because the guy is going to be a special teams star. overall, i would be happy with a draft like this. everyone of these guys would end up contributing to this team and everyone would probably make the team.

DOLFAN RICK...THANK YOU.......

NOTICE HOW IRELAND ALWAYS TARGET DAMGE GOODS , PAT WHITE,ODRICK,MALLET AND INGRAM ..........FROM MANY PLAYERS WE ALWAYS PICK THE BOTTOM OF BARREL .

Aloco....I accused you of nothing.....You embleished....PERIOD!!!!

and thats putting it nicely......

LIED is more accurate.....

just stick to the facts.....and let the blog poster's come to their own conclusion.....with out the falsehoods.....

Simon,

I get it. Sorry if I responded a little smart alecky, my bad. Some things that happen on this board, I try to avoid.

Fin4life,

Maybe I should have been more specific. In no way, shape or form was I comparing Mallet and Marino.

I meant to only be comparing the possible similarities between the rumors and sliding draft positions.

Just for the record, I still believe Mallet goes in the first round.

Aloco...Kris is in BLUE...PERIOD....Stick to the FACTS....

Stop trying to spin in it......

This is why you are so frustrating......

Grow up....

and OWN what you post!

The character issues against Mallet are nothing but overhyped nonsense. Half the players in the league have done far worse than party at college. Big deal. Maybe a couple of GM's will be concerned, but I'd say the vast majority will pick him based on their evaluation of his talent and nothing more. These character issues they are talking about might have been an issue 50 years ago, not today.

KRIS,

LIFE IS NICE TO BOTH OF US.TO READ THE CRAP ALL DAY KNOWING IT'S CRAP , IT'S KIND OF AMUSING .

KRIS ...PEACE

PS...LOMBARDI SAID THAT ANDY DALTON HAS A RED FALG B/C HE HAS RED HAIR .

THIS IS A GUY WHO ONCE WANTED TO BE THE SF49 GM .......NO SHAME .

Here's the link to the original story posted by PFT on Mallet. http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2011/04/20/reports-ryan-mallett-skipped-panthers-visit-after-late-night-out/

They stated the Charlotte Obeserver, The Chicago Tribune and NFP reported it.

Just heresay though. Their word against his.

KRIS.... GO TO LINK THAT DOLFAN RICK SUPPLIED ............YOU WILL ENJOY READING IT.

fin4,

Earlier today you said you had a hunch we were going to be better than expected. Just wondering, did you have that same hunch last August?

I'll make you a gentlemans bet on that first game, and its a bet I hope I will lose, but believe I will win. Hennes very first game running a brand new offense for the first time after limited contact with the new OC I don't see being good enough to beat the one team that totally demoralized us most, a team far more in rhythm than ours.

LOMBARDI IS SAYING,HE NEVER SAW A QB WITH RED HAIR .
