The NFL draft is finally here and this blog is a-live!
So do the Dolphins go with the primetime pick in this primetime draft? Do they trade back as I've been told they are trying to do? Do they pick a quarterback?
"A quarterback makes sense if and only if they think a FRANCHISE quarterback is there," Dan Marino tweeted today. "Otherwise, I am firm believer in taking the Best Player Available."
So whom would the man once hired to lead the Dolphins franchise -- he quit two weeks later -- consider the franchise quarterbacks in this draft?
"With my CBS gig I spend more time watching the QBs on Sunday so it wouldn't be fair for me to say if a guy is or isn't a franchise QB," Marino followed with another tweet.
The national insider types are reporting there will be a run on QBs in the top 12 picks. We'll see about that. Aside from the QBs, here are some names I'm going to ask you to keep in mind:
Alabama RB Mark Ingram if they do not trade back.
VT RB Ryan Williams if they trade back.
Florida C Mike Pouncey if they do not trade back.
Purdue OLB Ryan Kerrigan if they do not trade back.
Kansas State's Daniel Thomas if they do trade back.
I'm rooting for the trade back. OK, meet me in the comments section. Let's go a-live!

Ryan Kerrigan!!!
Haha. Just messin'.

Daniel Thomas ? They'd have to trade back into the 2nd round from 15 for that not to be a reach ! Ryan Williams would have to be
in the late 20's or the same.

Nice greeting for the comish!

Why is Nick Saban standing behind Godell?
Posted by: Armando Salguero | April 28, 2011 at 07:38 PM
Roger Godell is having a Cam Cameron moment.

Any thought on if a OT is an option?
Posted by: Nicholas | April 28, 2011 at 07:39 PM
Mando any more word out there on Kapernick to the fins?
Posted by: dhicks00 | April 28, 2011 at 07:40 PM
Mitch, the trade back scenarios I was talking about was into the second round.
Someone suggested to me the Fins might trade all the way out of the first.
Posted by: Armando Salguero | April 28, 2011 at 07:40 PM
I think Trading out the first is a good idea. The value picks seem to be in the rounds 2-3 range
Posted by: Nicholas | April 28, 2011 at 07:42 PM
We may have to trade out of the first to get those extra picks
Posted by: NHDolphan | April 28, 2011 at 07:42 PM
Mando, any chance we trade up? For whom?
Posted by: VA Fin Fan | April 28, 2011 at 07:42 PM
If we could get 2 2's williams and kapernick would be ideal!
Posted by: dhicks00 | April 28, 2011 at 07:43 PM
Im hoping the raiders have crazy Al back doing the draft this year and is itching to get a first round pick!
Posted by: Nicholas | April 28, 2011 at 07:43 PM
Might be a smart move to trade out of the first all together...I would stay there and take Ingram.
Posted by: markeyh | April 28, 2011 at 07:43 PM
Of the teams with 2 second round picks, I can't see any of them helping us into round 2. Other teams would have to be hangin' with La Canfora to give up their only second rounder to get up to 15. It is going to take a bunch of trades for us to get into round 2. A straight up trade isn't happenin'

Take the best players available and deal with the rest through FA

I'm watching on ESPN. More people. Think Kiper is entertaining. Schefter and Mort are good.
Posted by: Armando Salguero | April 28, 2011 at 07:47 PM
I think ESPN has better coverage. Although you do have to listen to Mr. Count Chocula
Posted by: VT Dolphan | April 28, 2011 at 07:47 PM
Nicholas, the rumors are Davis wants to get into the first round. Don't know they have the ammo.
Posted by: Armando Salguero | April 28, 2011 at 07:48 PM
Armando...Do you know if the rookie free agent signing period will begin before veteran free agency?(until the circut court rules)
Posted by: Darryl Dunphy | April 28, 2011 at 07:49 PM
It's always entertaining to see what the Raiders do
Posted by: VT Dolphan | April 28, 2011 at 07:49 PM
patrick hobbs is a beast at rb for dolphs.
Posted by: little amondo | April 28, 2011 at 07:49 PM
Va, the Dolphins don't seem to have the ammo to trade UP. They're trying to add picks, not lose more.
But we'll see.
Posted by: Armando Salguero | April 28, 2011 at 07:49 PM
Armando,
In the last couple of months around the Dolphins have you heard ANY talk they like Michel Leshoure? I'm amazing there hasn't been more love for this guy. I know you like Daniel Thomas but I don't see it in this guy. To be honest he may be safe (like Pouncey) and that's the type of guy they like. Leshoure will be a far better pro than Thomas in my opinion.
Posted by: Craig M | April 28, 2011 at 07:50 PM
I hope they don't stray from the value chart too much when (if) they trade
Posted by: NHDolphan | April 28, 2011 at 07:50 PM
Watching Newton on NFLN with Deon Sanders and I cant tell whos the biggest faker of the bunch lol, Newton scares me I'd saty away if I was Carolina.

Posted by: Bogota Phin Fan | April 28, 2011 at 07:51 PM
dhicks00, people I talk to here aren't buying the LaCanfora report on Kaepernick. Not in the first round.

Posted by: ALoco | April 28, 2011 at 07:51 PM
Dear Mr. Salguero
With Steve Carell retiring the character Micheal Scott, will The Office stick with Will Ferrell as the new Franchise office manager or do you think they will continue to look for a replacement ala drafting from the screen actors guild ?
Also...not sure what direction the dolphins will go in this draft....I just dont wanna cry next season...thats all Im sayin
Soiled :)
Posted by: SoiledBottom | April 28, 2011 at 07:51 PM
i would take raiders 1st next yr 2nd this year and 3rd this year. If there is anything you can depend on its that the raiders will suck.
Posted by: Nicholas | April 28, 2011 at 07:51 PM
If we trade back and our first pick isn't until the "heartache" round, who do you think we will target?
Posted by: VT Dolphan | April 28, 2011 at 07:52 PM

Posted by: FinsFan NS | April 28, 2011 at 07:53 PM

Posted by: NHDolphan | April 28, 2011 at 07:53 PM

Posted by: little amondo | April 28, 2011 at 07:53 PM
