The NFL draft is finally here and this blog is a-live!
So do the Dolphins go with the primetime pick in this primetime draft? Do they trade back as I've been told they are trying to do? Do they pick a quarterback?
"A quarterback makes sense if and only if they think a FRANCHISE quarterback is there," Dan Marino tweeted today. "Otherwise, I am firm believer in taking the Best Player Available."
So whom would the man once hired to lead the Dolphins franchise -- he quit two weeks later -- consider the franchise quarterbacks in this draft?
"With my CBS gig I spend more time watching the QBs on Sunday so it wouldn't be fair for me to say if a guy is or isn't a franchise QB," Marino followed with another tweet.
The national insider types are reporting there will be a run on QBs in the top 12 picks. We'll see about that. Aside from the QBs, here are some names I'm going to ask you to keep in mind:
Alabama RB Mark Ingram if they do not trade back.
VT RB Ryan Williams if they trade back.
Florida C Mike Pouncey if they do not trade back.
Purdue OLB Ryan Kerrigan if they do not trade back.
Kansas State's Daniel Thomas if they do trade back.
I'm rooting for the trade back. OK, meet me in the comments section. Let's go a-live!

Long - Pouncey - Incognito - Garner - Carey
Pretty good. Jerry competes with Garner to start (as long as Garner comes back off his injury 100%). They desperately need better depth on the OL (the only good back up is Berger).
Almost all SB winners have had outstanding OLs. Unfortunately, our offensive line guru HC and line-oriented FO haven't been able to build a decent line in the time he's been here.
The pick has been made. It cannot be changed. I feel it was a reach but I am content enough with it if he is moved to LG.

Phontsolo, who is the orther Pro Bowler on the line? And how will he be a Probowler when he had over 100 POOR SNAPS?

ESPN Draft Blog is stuck on pick #15, nothing written yet. They're SPEECHLESS TOO Morano!!!!!!!

"Trade Crowder"??? That's rich....what team do you think is stoopid enuf to give us a good draft pick for him?
Posted by: The Seer | April 28, 2011 at 10:03 PM
GOTTA GO. ALL BUMMED OUT NOW!
Posted by: DyingBreed | April 28, 2011 at 10:03 PM
jrljr2...Yeah, they've got Brady...How is that related to our o-line sucking badly?? What's your point?
Posted by: #1 Dolphin Fan in Montreal | April 28, 2011 at 10:03 PM
good eye craig!
Posted by: zeik | April 28, 2011 at 10:04 PM
craig, solder is an OT;pouncey is a guard;big difference.
Posted by: greg z. | April 28, 2011 at 10:04 PM
I bet we could trade starks for a second and 4th
Posted by: boulderfinfan | April 28, 2011 at 10:04 PM
How can anyone defend this pick? Sure Pouncey will be a great center but we have bigger needs at both running back and quarterback. Such a shame to let the best running back in the draft slip away. This team is just doing everything wrong. I'm sick and tired of the current regime. Ireland and Sporano need to go!
Posted by: Sorely Disappointed | April 28, 2011 at 10:04 PM
Odin there was a reason I started drinking early....although I thought they'd go for Pouncey to shore up the Oline, I was hoping for a QB or RB.....we can just hope for the best. If I was the Dolphins I'd lose every game next year just to get Andrew Luck! Well, if Mallet, Stanzi, Kaepernick, Leshoure, are available in the 3rd....who knows, I'm going back to my Yankees game!

>All levels of football are won and lost with the the o and d lines.

Crowder for a ham sandwich.
Posted by: Bogota Phin Fan | April 28, 2011 at 10:05 PM
Wake me up after the season is over, I'll save myself a lot of aggravation this way. Miami sucks, that is my prediction.
See ya next year.....
Posted by: Judge Roy Bean | April 28, 2011 at 10:06 PM
Armando,
Whats with the "quit two weeks later" jab at Marino. That's a garbage poke at a hall of famer, man - and unnecessary.
Posted by: Stefan | April 28, 2011 at 10:07 PM
Horrific pic at number 15 period. much more glaring issues all around. dont be stupid
Posted by: ashevillephinfan | April 28, 2011 at 10:07 PM
Well good points are Ireland and Saprano will be fired and we might get Luck next year
Posted by: miamiphinphan | April 28, 2011 at 10:07 PM
Let me get this straight...Pouncey shouldn't of been the pick...That means we should stick with McQuistan, Berger and all the rest of those useless stiffs...Gee, thank goodness you guys aren't general managers...
Posted by: #1 Dolphin Fan in Montreal | April 28, 2011 at 10:08 PM
@Craig M...
It's not just one draft pick. Its four drafts and the same old crap.
Posted by: LosLobos | April 28, 2011 at 10:08 PM
Our o line would have been fine if every team we played could not predicted every play we called
Posted by: ashevillephinfan | April 28, 2011 at 10:09 PM
I see Ireland worked really hard this offseason. I hope he was working on his resume.
Posted by: 0x80 | April 28, 2011 at 10:09 PM
We now have the most expensive line in the NFL.
Making good on my promise-I am now DONE with the Dolphins-I have gotten calls from a number of season ticket holders who are apoplectic.
5 Quarterbacks available-Ingram, etc, and we pick ANOTHER expensive lineman.
We have to wait 64 picks to get a QB, TE, RB, WR-we need to score points.
I predict all defensive draft from now on
Mr. Ross can NOT be happy.
Watch them continue to churn the O line like they've done for 3 years. Instead of doing like Shula did and put a hall of famer and Sims together from daft day for 10 years-any bets I'm right.
Millions of dollars-we-the fans pay-one ticket at a time. We get no hope and no chance with no offensive weapons since the mid 90's.
Tell me how we are going to have an exciting offense this year our RBs have zero yards, or WR was stabbed, our TE could make any other roster in the NFL-wow!
The mental migetry has grown to new heights!
Posted by: David | April 28, 2011 at 10:09 PM
Typical Miami pick. I wonder if they will ever realize you need playmakers to score points. I guess not.
Ready for this Miami will resign Ronnie Brown and swear that was their plan all along. Henne will be under center against Pats and throwing to Fasano, Marshall, Hartline and Bess lol. What a shame. Miami just don't get it
Posted by: Andy NJ | April 28, 2011 at 10:10 PM
Three teams have picked since we picked.
All three of them picked BPA's. All three of them picked a better player than we did.
I don't get it. WTF! Do Jeffy and Tony want to watch the O-line play musical chairs?
Who cares about BPA's. We got guys that can play every position across the line' WooHoo!
Why that Pat McQuistan, he can back up Pouncey, because he actually played center on a flag football team when he 11.
Pouncey will BARELY be an upgrade over Berger.
So much talent available and we get the ole REACH around. Thanks Jeffy!
Posted by: odinseye | April 28, 2011 at 10:10 PM
I think this pick is going to take alot of heat with fans because (1) it wasn't a 'sexy' pick BUT (2)More importantly, everybody expected a trade down to pick up a second rounder.
Posted by: Matt | April 28, 2011 at 10:10 PM
Mont fan, my point is they can afford to reach for an olineman the fins can't. They have no playmakers in either side of ball and they pick a center that can't snap ball. One thAt is overrated. That's my point. NE is a perennial contender with tons of picks. The Fins plain suck.
Posted by: jrljr2 | April 28, 2011 at 10:10 PM
I pay about 3,000.00 a year for 4 season tickets and two parking passes in the lower 447 area of the stadium.
Come in off of University drive and through gate H. I will not be renewing any tickets until this Front Office is long gone.

with this pick i am so excited i'm "pouncing" on those season tickets...BA HA HA HA HA HA HA...

Bad time to be a RB in professional football.
Posted by: Bogota Phin Fan | April 28, 2011 at 10:11 PM
Odin,
You watch, Pouncey will be MVP of the next SB. I'm ready to bet on it! Name your price.
Posted by: 0x80 | April 28, 2011 at 09:56 PM
Green Bay wants to trade us a ball boy for him? SWEET!
Posted by: odinseye | April 28, 2011 at 10:12 PM
At this point I will take Ryan Mallet sniffing his life away while chugging bud lights instead of another pick on the offensive line. You gotta wonder how far Mallet and Ingram will fall. Someone should have got Mallet a life coach. He is one hell of an athlete however character concerns are draft killers.
Posted by: djstarface | April 28, 2011 at 10:12 PM
Everyone has to keep in mind that free agency most likely will start sometime early next week. You will also be able to trade for players. Minnesota, Tennesee, and Carolina will not be in the market to trade for guys like Palmer, Kolb, Orton, or Flynn. Very possible Buffalo, Washington, and maybe Arizona might not be either depending what goes on in the 2nd round. So look at the BIG picture, and keep that in mind.
Posted by: Jon | April 28, 2011 at 10:13 PM
Im out, cant read this idiotic negative crap anymore...
Posted by: poizen | April 28, 2011 at 10:13 PM
Miami was what the 31st scoring team in the league? The go out and get Daboll who had the WORST offense in points per game in the league and Miami picks a "SOLID" building block lol.
IT don't matter Miami can't compete with the other offenses in our division let alone conference so we can all hope for Andrew Luck
Posted by: Andy NJ | April 28, 2011 at 10:13 PM
I hate the pick simply because he wasn't even the BPA at offensive line that's partly why I'm furious with the pick. It is also frustrating that we've been rebuilding our offensive line forever now and wasting money and we still after all this time haven't fixed it? The FO needs to do a better job on their Homework
Posted by: Jimbo | April 28, 2011 at 10:14 PM
Well Crowder did admitt today that the players wanted a veteran QB, so will we make a move for Kolb??
Posted by: Emory | April 28, 2011 at 10:14 PM
All you retards make me sick this was a smart pick at 15. They would have been reaching, and wasting a pick with a qb.
Posted by: a real dolphan | April 28, 2011 at 10:15 PM
Miami must have some aces up their sleeve in regards to free agency. I wonder if Carson Palmer will retire or be traded he may even want to play with the rookie AJ Green. If Indianapolis was smart they would jump on Mallet or Ingram period.
Posted by: djstarface | April 28, 2011 at 10:16 PM
Call me a hater, but I don't like this guy, 1st he's a gatard, 2nd he's not his brother, 3rd we need some of those players that are going to be on the 2nd round.
Unless we get a pick on the 2nd round and we get a steal, I don't see us having a good draft day.
Posted by: Swag U | April 28, 2011 at 10:16 PM
Another bad pick!!!
Posted by: talberding | April 28, 2011 at 10:16 PM
I'm not that mad because there wasn't much available pouncey may suck at center but if he does or someones injured (which our whole oline was) he's versatile and can play guard..not a sexy pick everyone wanted but a smart one..oline is very important people forget that..rb's will be available in the 3rd..I want Taiwan Jones anyways
Posted by: miaballa22785 | April 28, 2011 at 10:16 PM
Ingram could fall to the Jets.
Posted by: mserrania | April 28, 2011 at 10:16 PM
WOW
Posted by: sam1971 | April 28, 2011 at 10:16 PM
Maybe not a bad pick in retrospect but I thought Ireland might feel he needed to generate some good will with the owner and fanbase. At least he stuck to his beliefs but did the noose just tighten a bit?

"Pouncey SB MVP"
Are you talking Marcus
Posted by: BostonDolphin7 | April 28, 2011 at 10:17 PM
Has everyone forgotten that Vince Young is available for trade? Who cares about untested rookie QBs, I'd rather have a headcase that wins football games.
Posted by: Caracas Phin Fan | April 28, 2011 at 10:19 PM
jrljr2, you think NE drafts o-linemen because they "can afford it"? They reach for them because they "can afford it"? They understand that even with Tom Brady, if you're o-line can't run block, can't pass protect for your QB, even Brady will fail. That's a really dumb statement, sorry to say. I'm not a big fan of Henne, but fact is he didn't have a running game to work with and had zero protection, running for his life on too many plays. That would explain the Pouncey pick my brother...

Does anyone know where Hankerson the Miami wide reciever is projected to be drafted at?

Posted by: Swag U | April 28, 2011 at 10:22 PM
Craig,
Solder rated higher overall on most rankings I looked at(about 3-1).
Somebody else else said it was all we could do. We needed him.
No, it was not all we could do. For one thing, Pouncey was incredibly over rated. For another that guy Belicheat took right AFTER we picked would have spelled Carey with a lot better value. Pouncey was a reach. Solder or Castanzo were not. They could have also freed up Carey to at least offer competetion at guard.
Nope! Instead we reach in the first round to fill a need.
Tell me there were no other BPA's and I'll shut up!

Posted by: djstarface | April 28, 2011 at 10:24 PM
Phil Taylor!
There you go. What, it's an hour later and how many picks later?
Finally someone picks a guy that rated lower than us.
I'm just sick!
PS: And embarrassed as a fan!!!!

Ronnie and Ricky didn't run well cuz the interior line collapsed all the time
