The NFL draft is finally here and this blog is a-live!
So do the Dolphins go with the primetime pick in this primetime draft? Do they trade back as I've been told they are trying to do? Do they pick a quarterback?
"A quarterback makes sense if and only if they think a FRANCHISE quarterback is there," Dan Marino tweeted today. "Otherwise, I am firm believer in taking the Best Player Available."
So whom would the man once hired to lead the Dolphins franchise -- he quit two weeks later -- consider the franchise quarterbacks in this draft?
"With my CBS gig I spend more time watching the QBs on Sunday so it wouldn't be fair for me to say if a guy is or isn't a franchise QB," Marino followed with another tweet.
The national insider types are reporting there will be a run on QBs in the top 12 picks. We'll see about that. Aside from the QBs, here are some names I'm going to ask you to keep in mind:
Alabama RB Mark Ingram if they do not trade back.
VT RB Ryan Williams if they trade back.
Florida C Mike Pouncey if they do not trade back.
Purdue OLB Ryan Kerrigan if they do not trade back.
Kansas State's Daniel Thomas if they do trade back.
I'm rooting for the trade back. OK, meet me in the comments section. Let's go a-live!

Posted by: NHDolphan | April 28, 2011 at 08:52 PM

If Washington and Minnesota pass on Gabbert I hope we do too. Because theres probably a reason.
Posted by: DolFan Rick | April 28, 2011 at 08:52 PM
Gabbert won't last to Fins.
Posted by: go delpo | April 28, 2011 at 08:52 PM

Posted by: Chase | April 28, 2011 at 08:53 PM
Slow curve balls are very tricky.
Posted by: oscar canosa | April 28, 2011 at 08:53 PM
Mando, yea if he gets past Minnesota I find it very hard for the Dolphins to pass him up definitely would be a steal
Posted by: Jimbo | April 28, 2011 at 08:53 PM
F*** the Cowbooys....
Posted by: Po White Trash | April 28, 2011 at 08:53 PM

Posted by: bigalfy | April 28, 2011 at 08:54 PM
itch my head big mondo , I have no arms or hands
Posted by: little amondo | April 28, 2011 at 08:54 PM
UT.....lI woudn't have been mad if we had gotten Locker......
but....
My man Mallett is still there
Posted by: Kris | April 28, 2011 at 08:54 PM
Mallett has trouble picking up the blitz and has off-field issues. I think he will free-fall and be a value pick in the 3rd round, although it only takes one team...
Posted by: Tikkanen | April 28, 2011 at 08:55 PM
Smith to Dallas.
This is going GOOD for Miami!
Posted by: odinseye | April 28, 2011 at 08:55 PM
Shocker there....
Posted by: Po White Trash | April 28, 2011 at 08:55 PM

Easier there, little amondo. I might have to use the zipper on you. You don't want that.
Posted by: Armando Salguero | April 28, 2011 at 08:55 PM
DALLAS JUST RUINED OUR TRADE BACK SCENARIO WITH THE BEARS.
Posted by: DyingBreed | April 28, 2011 at 08:56 PM
Good pick by the Cowboys...they can afford it.....they have all thr other peices in place....
Posted by: Kris | April 28, 2011 at 08:56 PM
Nick Farely still on the board? WOW.
Posted by: go delpo | April 28, 2011 at 08:56 PM
Mallet against the blitz is worse than Henne. Thats a fact
Posted by: dishpan | April 28, 2011 at 08:56 PM
I thought there were better OT's. But well, same as little amondo, what do I know?
Posted by: oscar canosa | April 28, 2011 at 08:56 PM
Pouncey tweeted his peepee off he was going to Dallas. Whats he tweetin now?
Posted by: 0x80 | April 28, 2011 at 08:56 PM
SO FAR, SO GOOD
Posted by: ALoco | April 28, 2011 at 08:56 PM
Come on you can not take a QB here. You have 2nd rd pick Henne behind an inadequate offensive line with limited weapons and an 80's playcaller last year.
You have to give Henne this year to click. Get V Young as a back up, able to step in should Henne falter.
You get a FA QB for this year and draft QB next year if Henne does not click.
Posted by: Oregon Dolphin fan | April 28, 2011 at 08:56 PM
Kris,
Better hope Shanahan doesn't think as highly of Mallett as you do....

RED SKINS IS THE TEAM TO WATCH AND THE BROWNS RE GABBERT AND ANDY DALTON

Posted by: little amondo | April 28, 2011 at 08:57 PM
CANT BELIEVE CB PETERSON'S STILL ON THE BOARD.
Posted by: DyingBreed | April 28, 2011 at 08:58 PM
Tyron Smith. This is the guy I wanted back in January. He's going to be awesome. Him and Long would of given us the best tackle duo in football. He also would of replaced lazy fat boy Vernon Carey, who sucks year in and year out.
Posted by: #1 Dolphin Fan in Montreal | April 28, 2011 at 08:58 PM
Forgot about Fairley...he could ruin everything.....and I woudn't be mad.....
Posted by: Kris | April 28, 2011 at 08:58 PM
Blaine Gabbert should skip the nfl and go directly to Dancing with the Stars.
Posted by: 0x80 | April 28, 2011 at 08:58 PM
Did somebody say trade up?
Get out of here.
One or two more surprises and Belicheat will be calling US to trade up.
Our trade down keeps looking better and better!

Posted by: Jimbo | April 28, 2011 at 08:59 PM
PLEASE ,LET BROWN AND R.WILLIAMS BOTH GO ....YOUNG PLAYERS ARE GREAT
Posted by: ALoco | April 28, 2011 at 08:59 PM
Don't you guys think Shanahan will take Gabbert. They need a QB.....the kid's not that bad!
Posted by: Craig M | April 28, 2011 at 08:59 PM
Don't underestimate Gabbert. The guy has some SERIOUS recollection.

Posted by: go delpo | April 28, 2011 at 09:01 PM
Gabbert to Jax at #10.
Posted by: Big Slap Shot Bob | April 28, 2011 at 09:01 PM
So much for Blaine Gabbert to the Dolphins. Resume Pouncey lovefest, please.
Posted by: Armando Salguero | April 28, 2011 at 09:01 PM
We need major upgrades on our o-line, cause our running game sucks, our pass protection sucks, and the players we have suck except for Jake Long. Improving Chad Henne starts with the improvement of the o-line. Simple stuff.
Posted by: #1 Dolphin Fan in Montreal | April 28, 2011 at 09:01 PM
