Draft Day No. 3 live blog starts here at noon

When the draft resumes this afternoon, I'm hoping the Dolphins land a certain RB that I've had my eyes on for a while whose name I will not type here because, believe it or not, I've recently learned at least one rival AFC team reads this blog for updates on what the Dolphins are thinking -- obviously not recognizing that I don't know squat about squat.

Joke's on them!

Nonetheless, I won't mention this RBs name at this point, not that it's a big secret.

Lookit, the Dolphins need speed today. It is lacking for them on offense. It is lacking on defense, although not to the same degree. It is definitely lacking on special teams.

Speed, speed, speed, speed, speed, speed!

When Bill Parcells first started constructing this team it started looking like a mirror image of the 1990 New York Giants for a while there. The Dolphins were big, hulking, and bulking. This team looks very imposing in the airport.

But the game has changed since 1990 and is played on the field not in an airport. So the plodding Fins have some adjusting to do.

They need speed to be more dynamic. They need speed to make sure those kickoff returns and punt returns stop going 90 yards in the other direction. They need speed to do something that we haven't seen around here a lot lately: Blow somebody up with a 90-yard punt return of their own, or hit them on a 74-yard run, or throw a 68-yard bomb over the top of their defense, or return an interception 101 yards.

So my hope is today is about turning the Incredible Hulk into Flash. Or something like that.

The hope for today is a:

Change of pace fast RB.

A return man. Must be ... fast.

(Hopefully the Dolphins can get two for one by having the fast RB also be a fast return guy.)

OLB help to punish Tom Brady and Slim Shady now that they're boys in New England.

Maybe a  NT. He's the only one that doesn't need to be fast. Don't sleep on the NT, by the way.

[NOTE: Live blog happening right here at noon. Yesterday was the biggest day on this blog in all of 2011. Enormous! Thank you. And thanks to that team for checking in. I don't know anything.]

1 more pick til the Phins...Graig Cooper? Mario Fannin? Ricardo Lockette?

for the 3rd time BIG MONDO - what position of need in free agency

I think its only fair to give henne 1 more year, its do or die. Any mediocre play then its bye bye henne and hello round 1 qb next year. it makes sense.

Ricardo Lockette should be the pick if he is available at 231!!!!

My belief is that if the Dolphins truly wanted Taiwan Jones or DJ Will they could have traded 3rd or 4th or 5th round picks from next year. Don't know if they attempted that but Mando you can find out. I like the picks this year but we could have got the other guys on the big board too this year by sacrificing picks next year if the FO really wanted those players. If they were impact players.

*sorry Clay=Gray ...doesn't matter, still wasted pick

I was too dumb to give a playbook to Pouncey before the lock-out was reinstated. Oooopsies!

Denver has Knowshown who is a beast if healthy. A beast in Georgia too.

is berry still out there??

Please no hurricane rb's like Berry or Cooper who is small ..unelusive and gets chased down immediately in space. Go one of the Locketts or Burney.

I'd love to see 'Coop with one of these next picks. Hits the hole hard, carries tacklers, is elusive and plays lower than Thomas. I think the two would be good complements, and a new era for the Fins run game.

dolphins select omar kelly

dolphins select omar kelly

Much rather have traded up for Thomas then get Jones later as our feature back and not have Thomas. That's a no brainer Mando. Thomas is a very nice fit Jones in addition to Thomas would have been nice though.

Coop....do u watch hurricane football?? Coop is not elusive at all and trips over the turf in the open field. No way is he going to get drafted.

Yes DJax is awesome, and can only hope with Gates. Gates has good hands and that's a start to go with the speed!

Frank Kearse?

wonder if julio jones will wear cute pig tails in nfl

For more depth I believe Fins will pick another O-lineman in 7th round and another RB.

Zachary Hurd
or Daniel Ziemba

Berry or Fannin

frank kearse?? who the hell is that??

This truly sucks. Frank Kearse. Is this Jevon's little brother or something? YOu suck Ireland.

Wow...the 42nd Ranked NT...really?? 20 NT's ranked higher than him are STILL available..but you know best, huh, Ireland...

Sorry, thought it was Jevon's TWIN Brother!

Alabama A

These guys usually dont make the team anyways so hopefully this guy is something and can step in as a backup

Kearse back up for our one year wonder in Soliai. 12 mil ridiculous. Still wish Dan Williams from Tennessee fell to us when we traded back last year. But at least we have an owner who doesn't care about having the highest payroll. We were number one right Mando?

He was my 41st rated DT, so I took a shot at him...

What a fuggin joke. Speed on the board at rb and wr and we take a swac DT. Derrick Locke and Lockett sitting there and this is what we do. Watch both get gobbled up in the next 4 picks. Guess the Fins think they can over turn the fran tag on Deangelo Williams. Sproles has been in the league how long??? Get younger...build thru the damn draft.

Frank Kearse says he played the 5 technique in college.

i generally believe the current organisation has drafted well but too many times they pick late round players that would end up going un drafted. why???

good draft grade on kearse

Terrible pick!!! Fat stiff who won't make it out of first cutdown!!! Waste of pick!!!! Great job Jeff!!! You will be out of a job next year!!!

Kearse says he's weighing 313 right now.

He is pretty big at 6'4 311

Alabama A

Franke Kerse is at McDonalds. Didn't know he was going to get drafted when we called him. Couldn't answer the phone though cause he was eating McRibs...

Kearse has not been told if he's going to be used at NT or DE.

the curse continues in miami !

I played the 5 technique in college too am i the next fins pick?

Kearse says he had not one convesation with the Dolphins before the draft.

Jets can find McElroy in the 7th, we get who? Tell us big Mando, "Who dis' guy be?"

Maybe for him to push Soliai a little bit. Yes?

38th rated tackle. Were 37 other DTs taken ahead of him? I think not.

Pick up a RB or QB you jerk!!!! God you suck...

Alabama AM??? Is that even a real school?

"I like to win, I hate losing. Most guys lose a game and they forget after three hours. I'm thinking about it 72 hours later."

One more pick..Devlin?

Im sure our next pick is absolutely crazy. Some guy we have never heard of and wil never make the team.
For once ireland take some sort of a sexy pick
Any speedy rb will do

What a waste of a 7th round pick. I mean there are hall of famers to be had in this round. Whiffing on this pick will haunt us for a decade. (Lots of rocket scientists on this board).

nfl network should go dark a lttle more - tired of the hype machine

Not sold on Soliai, any depth at NT is good if that is where they will put Kearse.

What are the Fins doing. We specialize in random players coming off the board that ordinarily would be UFA. Get some more speed...Locke or Lockett. We are not going to line up 3 fullbacks in Hilliard...Clay and Thomas and getting anything accomplished in the run game. 3yds a play won't do it. Packers then take a DT from Arizona St. Wonder who was the better pick.

This guy seems to be a writer also, Armando.

Only one more pick for Ireland to destroy...

Who cares about who we pick at 7 round who was it last year or year before?? Thought so

Mando, either the information gets leaked to you ahead of time, or you are fast as hell. Which one is it?
