I'm at the facility and expect to live blog practice so head on over to the comments section starting around 11:05 to check out what's going on.
I can say this early on:
I cannot believe what I've already heard this morning. No, not about the Kyle Orton trade or Reggie Bush or Mike Pouncey's contract status.
It's the words of owner Stephen Ross. This is what he said, in part, during his meeting with the media moments ago:
""There's a fine line between winning and losing. There's three games we could have won for sure and then there's Pittsburgh, which we all think we won and then look at what our record is. The Jets squeezed by and got a few lucky wins as well. The thing is winning and knowing how to win at the end of the game. That's what's important. Our record doesn't show that's what we do. But you can't say these are teams that are much better than we are and we're really a lagger to them ... You can't draw a fine line and say this team is that much better because they're not. There's a lot of parity in the NFL and we have a lot of great young players. Look how far we've come in a short period of time."
Um, note to Mr. Ross:
The Patriots were 14-2 last year.
The Jets went to the AFC championship game for the second year in a row.
And the Dolphins didn't lag behind?
Crazy.
"

mr ross is right ARMANDO , YOU R WRONG ....DID HE SAY ANY THING ABOUT THE PATS,NOO...........
QUIT TALKING SHOTS AT HIM WHEN THERE'S NO THING THERE ..........

The rumors are true on the quarterback front.
The Dolphins are talking to UFA QB Matt Moore.
Oh boy.
Posted by: Armando Salguero | July 29, 2011 at 11:13 AM
Good morning (tocayo)

Wow...
Posted by: kingsmith | July 29, 2011 at 11:15 AM
Garrett Chisolm also not practicing and DT Chris Baker also not practicing.
Posted by: Armando Salguero | July 29, 2011 at 11:15 AM
IS HENNE AND B.MARSHALL ON THE FIELD...AND ARE THEY R TALKING TO EACH OTHER ?
Posted by: ALoco | July 29, 2011 at 11:16 AM
Tom Brandstater is taking second team QB snaps.
Posted by: Armando Salguero | July 29, 2011 at 11:16 AM
Did you interview Ross at the bar? What is that incoherent babble, the effects of 3 or 4 dry martini's? :op
Posted by: ch | July 29, 2011 at 11:17 AM
So, Mia identified QB as biggest offseason upgrade. They had 6 months to figure out strategy. All of them are on notice to win or be fired. And the best they can do is Matt Moore? How can anyone say that the GM/Coach are not the problem?
Posted by: glh | July 29, 2011 at 11:17 AM
Wow Matt Moore? Awful. Any chance we bring in Braylon Edwards?
Posted by: Dan | July 29, 2011 at 11:18 AM
Matt Moore better just be 3rd string comp for Brandstater(whatever). He was terrible in Car. We need a serious competitor for Henne. Moore vs Henne would be setting this back 3 years.
Posted by: 631 | July 29, 2011 at 11:18 AM
I do not see Reggie Bush.
Posted by: Armando Salguero | July 29, 2011 at 11:18 AM
Mando,
Sanchez got extremely lucky last year and henne was extremely un-lucky. Sanchez would have had way more interceptions than henne if people would have hung on to his passes when trying to intercept them. I guess being lucky is just as good as being a good player. The jets lucked out.
I do agree with Ross when he says knowing how to win at the end of the game is half the battle. Our coach is a loser. Ryan is a winner. That's the difference
Posted by: BoulderPhinFan | July 29, 2011 at 11:19 AM
I DO AGREE WITH ROSS,THE JETS AND PITT GOT BOTH LUCKY LAST YEAR .
Posted by: ALoco | July 29, 2011 at 11:20 AM
Bush is actually here but not practicing.
Posted by: Armando Salguero | July 29, 2011 at 11:21 AM
Lucky or not. Dot kid yourself. Sanchez WON games with his late game play. Period. Look at his great 2nd half in Pitt in the playoffs. He has serious talent adv over Henne.
Posted by: 631 | July 29, 2011 at 11:21 AM
Is the Moore deal a ply to put more pressure on Denver?
Posted by: Dan | July 29, 2011 at 11:22 AM
He can't practice as per transition rules, not till cba is ratified
Posted by: JustNo | July 29, 2011 at 11:22 AM
Aloco, ross is a businessman. he is fair game for criticism. we pays hundreds of $ to watch his team and have the right to express our views/displeasure. fans can boo or clap;we arent just cheerleaders and no one getting paid is off limits.
Posted by: greg z. | July 29, 2011 at 11:23 AM
Mando,
It has to be SO frusterating being a dolphin fan! I feel like crying over my team. I wait an entire locked out offseason to see what we are going to do to excite the fan base. Waiting for maybe Carson Palmer... he's retiring. And now we can't even get Kyle Orton!!! While the patriots get haynesworth and ochocinco and the Jets get Nnamdi.
For the first time in my adult life I am considering not supporting the dolphins. I'M THAT JADED!!
Posted by: CaymanFinfan | July 29, 2011 at 11:23 AM
Still has to pass his physical before he can see the field.
Posted by: Brian P | July 29, 2011 at 11:24 AM
AGREE GREG Z ...WHAT I DON'T LIKE IS ARMANDO TRYING TO INJECT HIS CRAPY HUMOR TO MAKE FUN OF THE MAN .............. BACALA.
Posted by: ALoco | July 29, 2011 at 11:24 AM
Mando,
And word on exploring the FA market at the TE position? Do you know Ireland's thinking at that position? Is Miller in Oakland on anybody's radar?
Posted by: DC Dolfan | July 29, 2011 at 11:25 AM
Bush is not allowed to practice until August 4th.
Posted by: Berg | July 29, 2011 at 11:26 AM
i dont think bush is allowed to practice until august 4th by rules. he can attend meetings etc.
Posted by: greg z. | July 29, 2011 at 11:26 AM
Reggie - or any other new (non-rookie) player can't practice until the 4th according to the new rules.
Posted by: Kid Neutron | July 29, 2011 at 11:26 AM
DID THE DOLPHINS FIRED THEIR DENTIST AND HIRED A REAL DOCTOR TO LOOK AT BUSH BEFORE WE HAVE SAME ISSUE AS WE DID W/ODRICK ?
Posted by: ALoco | July 29, 2011 at 11:27 AM
631, sanchez had a good line and good running game last year. When Henne had the same 2 years ago he looked like a franchize QB. talent wise they are not much different. Sanchez has better coaching and better team around him.
Posted by: BoulderPhinFan | July 29, 2011 at 11:27 AM
who is brandstater? rookie? fa? from where?
Posted by: voung | July 29, 2011 at 11:28 AM
Aloco, your english is great... how long ago did you dock your raft?
Posted by: ULoco | July 29, 2011 at 11:28 AM
Nice catch of a pass behind him by Brandon Marshall. Reached back with one hand, tipped to himself, and then caught it.
Posted by: Armando Salguero | July 29, 2011 at 11:29 AM
Is Odrick practicing? Do the players appear to be in shape? Is anyone wearing a "feed the wolf" t-shirt?
Posted by: gulfdiverdown | July 29, 2011 at 11:30 AM
bush was a ross celeb pick i believe. we need a nfl QB and 2 tight ends!!!!!! we gave away a possible young starting safety(amaya) plus a pick. vince young wouldnt cost us players/picks. matt moore is 2nd tier, much like henne.
Posted by: greg z. | July 29, 2011 at 11:30 AM
Brandstater was signed last year when Henne was injured and Pennington went down.
Posted by: Armando Salguero | July 29, 2011 at 11:31 AM
I hope the Orton deal isn't dead. I think with his experience and savvy he can make this Offense roll. On paper the pieces are there.
Posted by: kingsmith | July 29, 2011 at 11:31 AM
IS ODRICK PRACTICING ?????????????
Posted by: ALoco | July 29, 2011 at 11:32 AM
How is henne looking?
Posted by: BoulderPhinFan | July 29, 2011 at 11:33 AM
ARE THESE PLAYERS PRACTICING ;;;;;;
FASANO
HARTLINE
CROWDER
ODRICK
GATES
Posted by: ALoco | July 29, 2011 at 11:34 AM
The Dolphins are missing the three unsigned rookies: Pouncey, Gates, Thomas.
Posted by: Armando Salguero | July 29, 2011 at 11:34 AM
Armando, who threw the pass that Marshall had to catch behind him... (I fear the answer is Henne)- picking up from where we left off last year I see...
Posted by: Finsupremo | July 29, 2011 at 11:34 AM
Dolphins just signed Mat Moore to a 2 year deal!!! Forget about Orton. WE SUCK!!!!!!!!
Posted by: DM | July 29, 2011 at 11:34 AM
There is only one question that is important at this point. What are the Fins doing at QB and when do you see this issue being addressed?
It CAN'T be Matt Moore! Is the Orton deal dead? Who else is out there?
Posted by: DC | July 29, 2011 at 11:35 AM
Jared Odrick is indeed practicing.
Posted by: Armando Salguero | July 29, 2011 at 11:35 AM
Agree kingsmith, the car is built, we need a driver.
Posted by: Mark in Toronto | July 29, 2011 at 11:35 AM
greg z, Vince Young has already been picked up by the Eagles as a back up for Vick. He's off the table.

Who cares if NE got Chad O. and Haynesworth? If any other team would have done it, they'd have been considered fools. "Fat Albert" was a punchline at this time last year. Go look up the headlines. Chad O is washed up.
Its like college basketball recruiting. If a 3 start recruit starts getting attention from North Carolina, Duke, or Kentucky, they all of the sudden turn into a 4 star recruit. If aging, head cases, like Haynesworth and Chad O start getting attention from New England, they are all of the sudden back in their prime, and the final piece to the Super Bowl.
New England is Tom Brady. The rest is just details.

Matt Moore??? OMG...i just vomited. Let's give a qb that went 1-15 5 million bucks. Gotta love America.
Posted by: Ken from CT | July 29, 2011 at 11:36 AM
Mat Moore Vs Chad Henne.
LMAO!
Who wins?
