I'm at the facility and expect to live blog practice so head on over to the comments section starting around 11:05 to check out what's going on.
I can say this early on:
I cannot believe what I've already heard this morning. No, not about the Kyle Orton trade or Reggie Bush or Mike Pouncey's contract status.
It's the words of owner Stephen Ross. This is what he said, in part, during his meeting with the media moments ago:
""There's a fine line between winning and losing. There's three games we could have won for sure and then there's Pittsburgh, which we all think we won and then look at what our record is. The Jets squeezed by and got a few lucky wins as well. The thing is winning and knowing how to win at the end of the game. That's what's important. Our record doesn't show that's what we do. But you can't say these are teams that are much better than we are and we're really a lagger to them ... You can't draw a fine line and say this team is that much better because they're not. There's a lot of parity in the NFL and we have a lot of great young players. Look how far we've come in a short period of time."
Um, note to Mr. Ross:
The Patriots were 14-2 last year.
The Jets went to the AFC championship game for the second year in a row.
And the Dolphins didn't lag behind?
Crazy.
"

Matt Moore. 857 yards, 5 TDs, 10 INTs in six games last year. Wow - that's sexy. We're cursed.

There is only one question that is important at this point. What are the Fins doing at QB and when do you see this issue being addressed?
It CAN'T be Matt Moore! Is the Orton deal dead? Who else is out there?
Posted by: DC | July 29, 2011 at 11:37 AM
ROSS IS A GREAT OWNER AND FAN HIMSELF...LEAVE HIM ALONE YOU JETS, PATS,BILLS LOOSERS....''WE KNOW WHO IS SAYING THESE THINGS...SO THEY HOLD NO VALUE'''
Posted by: MARKO | July 29, 2011 at 11:37 AM
John Beck is better than Matt Moore.
Posted by: Armando Salguero | July 29, 2011 at 11:38 AM
ARMANDO, CAN YOU CONFIRM THE MATT MOORE SIGNING ?
Posted by: ALoco | July 29, 2011 at 11:38 AM
Can I get props for breaking the story before Armando.
Posted by: DM | July 29, 2011 at 11:39 AM
Mando!
Please say it's untrue that Moore is the QB they are bringing in as a potential starter?
Posted by: DC | July 29, 2011 at 11:39 AM
Both of you are right. We ALL saw the matters of fact that are been mentioned by Ross. Yet, that doesn-t mean that the Jets and the Steelers were overall better than us. QB played a role. Brand new year guys. Brand new circumstances.
Let´s wait and see.

That flirtation with Matt Moore better just be leverage against Orton because dude is not good. And to think that we are missing out on VY is such a shame. First we passed on Mike Vick, now the Eagles are scooping him up too? Eagles looking like geniuses with player acquisiton. Look what they got for an unproven Kolb. And now they are going to have one of the best QB's in the league and someone on the bench who should be starting. Dolphins looking dumb on the QB front. If Henne is the QB next year, 7-9 here we come.
Posted by: Nick B | July 29, 2011 at 11:39 AM
The dolphins are stupid! Why not sign Vince Young.
Philly is the next New England. I admirethem for stock piling talent forlow price and then trade them later for high draftpicks.
Miami could have signed Vince Young to help push Henne, that would have been a major benefit, you either get a better Henne or you gtet a better QB in VY.
Sad tosay they dropthe ball again in REE agency. Reggie alone is not enough.
Posted by: Sanford Hall | July 29, 2011 at 11:40 AM
Nince one Armando - "John Beck is better than Matt Moore."
Posted by: 2M | July 29, 2011 at 11:40 AM
we still need a leathal break away tight end like a dallas clark type...we need orton, he is a solid qb who will push hennes abilitys to the max to develope or bust...we also need a safety and maybe jason taylor to play outside linebacker...we can still add more talent to get better i can see...
Posted by: MARKO | July 29, 2011 at 11:40 AM
matt moore vs chad henne; whoever wins,we lose!
Posted by: greg z. | July 29, 2011 at 11:41 AM
i have not giving up on henne just yet....but who knows he may not be the man in miami, maybe that becomes orton...having options is always better to me... i like the eagles signed vince young, i think that system will help him mature and develope into a much better qb...
Posted by: MARKO | July 29, 2011 at 11:42 AM
ppl need to be fired !!! this is unaccpectable!!!! matt moore 1-15 5 million bucks!!!!!!! WHATTTTTTTTTTTTT!!! How do we let a guy who has more td than ints , which should be highly valued here, get away from us in Orton...AND HE CAN THROW SUCCESSFULLY TO MARSHALL...lets give up fins fan...this regime is horrendous...
Posted by: luck | July 29, 2011 at 11:42 AM
How is Soliai looking? Is the report that he's in "under-weight" from his agent correct?
Posted by: Rocco | July 29, 2011 at 11:42 AM
I'm offically on the Suck for Luck bandwagon! Who's with me?
Posted by: DM | July 29, 2011 at 11:42 AM
Mando, where are you, this is your blog!!!!! What's going on in practice, is Moore the QB. It's been 5 months since meaningful football news, don't go into hiding now!!!!
Posted by: BennyV | July 29, 2011 at 11:43 AM
LOL greg z. One thing this does though you have to admit, makes EVERYONE a Henne fan. Who in their right mind wants to see Matt Moore on the field? I hope he's the 3rd string and Devlin is the backup.
This is a HUGE misstep by Ireland. Really horrible news!
Posted by: DC Dolfan | July 29, 2011 at 11:43 AM
Mando is too busy breaking the Anthony McDaniel story....has no idea about Matt Moore.
Posted by: Ken from CT | July 29, 2011 at 11:43 AM
vince young will do much better with eagles system , and learn from mike vick..vick really matured last year and proved me wrong...
Posted by: MARKO | July 29, 2011 at 11:43 AM
Ken from CT, excellent post!!! Where are in CT, I'm from Enfield
Posted by: BennyV | July 29, 2011 at 11:44 AM
totally true dln265. no matter what the cheatriots do its considered magic mastery. such bullcrap. noplayoff wins in last 3 years for them either. been 7 years since they won a superbowl. im sick of them.
Posted by: scott alderson | July 29, 2011 at 11:44 AM
lets trade our team doctors for psychiatrists for ireland! matt moore?? no tight ends??
Posted by: greg z. | July 29, 2011 at 11:45 AM
ARMANDO JUST TWEETED THAT MATT MOORE DEAL NOT DONE YET .........
Posted by: ALoco | July 29, 2011 at 11:45 AM
Brandstater just did a Pat White impersonation and threw a ball four feet over a WR's head.
Posted by: Armando Salguero | July 29, 2011 at 11:45 AM
I don't think Ireland would give up that easily so if the Moore signing is correct, hopefully it's for him to be third string and placing Devlin on PS.
Posted by: kingsmith | July 29, 2011 at 11:47 AM
Another terrible pass by Brandstater. I'm done watching him.
Posted by: Armando Salguero | July 29, 2011 at 11:47 AM
For all the Vince Young bashers...Now you have Matt Moore...LOL!!
Posted by: #1 Dolphin Fan in Montreal | July 29, 2011 at 11:48 AM
Fugg the fins,I think I am going to support the Eagles.Miami stinks, they don't knowhow to run ateam.
Why chase after Orton? Quit wasting time and go after a FREE qb. They better not give upanything better thana 4th rounder forhimifthey do.
Where is Cleo Lemon when you need him?
Posted by: Sanford Hall | July 29, 2011 at 11:48 AM
Is Pat White available?
Posted by: gulfdiverdown | July 29, 2011 at 11:48 AM
DC, this is the reason i didnt go to camp this year. i woulda had a nervous breakdown!!! i gotta pray henne suddenly "gets it"! i just cant believe we couldnt address the qb issue in the draft or FA.
Posted by: greg z. | July 29, 2011 at 11:48 AM
mando, a bag of shite is better than Matt Moore. This guys doesn't deserve to even be in the league let alone be a decent #2.
Posted by: Mark in Toronto | July 29, 2011 at 11:48 AM
WHOA!! You all think VY was the answer for us at QB??? That is some scary stuff. VY is a complete manic head case. He is not mature or smart enough to run any offense. He will hopefully get better over time from riding the pine a couple more years and learning some self control and maturing a little. Orton is definitely our best shot. The guy is accurate as hell and has a good arm. He's a smart QB and already has a good rapport with Marshall. He is the piece of the puzzle that we need to compete and make the post season.
Posted by: Freedog | July 29, 2011 at 11:49 AM
Sanford, Cleo Lemon is up here with me in Toronto, he's the starter for the Argonauts.
Posted by: Mark in Toronto | July 29, 2011 at 11:49 AM
Mando,
How is Henne doing?
Does he hit his targets?
Posted by: Uri Blumenfeld | July 29, 2011 at 11:51 AM
Right on Freedog. He is also a poor pocket passer and has no loft on long passes.
Posted by: gulfdiverdown | July 29, 2011 at 11:51 AM
Armando
Can you give us an update on the contract signings of picks 1,2, & 3?
Posted by: Simon Says | July 29, 2011 at 11:52 AM
Rumor now is Miami will trade HENNE for KYLE ORTON! Henne makes less money and would back-up Tebow. Moore would back-up Orton!
Posted by: NFL Rumor Mill | July 29, 2011 at 11:52 AM
IF YOU SIGNS MATT MOORE FOR 2 MILL A YEAR ,THAT GREAT GREAT NEWS FOR HENNE......HE WOULD BE MAKING 12 MILLION A YEAR .
Posted by: ALoco | July 29, 2011 at 11:52 AM
What's going on... we dont care bout the jets and pats -- they got a couple of playeers... whoooo lets just hand them the fuc%$!&% trophy now. WTF! look Mr. Ross mad some good points i saw all the games and he is correct. Sometimes you good and sometimes you're lucky... Jets and pats got luck a few times and had a soft schedule compared to ours.
LETS GO PHINS... I BELIEVE IN YA'LL even if our writers don't.
Posted by: d.chong | July 29, 2011 at 11:52 AM
I can't believe we are signing Matt Moore. This is embarrassing. We would have been better off keeping Thigpen.
Posted by: Nick B | July 29, 2011 at 11:53 AM
I just dont understand why we have spent our last 3 - Second round pics on waste of players. Pat White and Chad Henne were selected in the 2nd Rds. Look what they are and have done.
Ireland need to stop being chinchy and just up the damn second rounder. No one coming out of college next year with be worth what Kyle Orton will bring. Just give up the the pick and lets move on!!!!
Posted by: KwameFinFan4Life | July 29, 2011 at 11:53 AM
Mando, how is John Jerry doing? Who are the first team OL's?
Posted by: gulfdiverdown | July 29, 2011 at 11:53 AM
Vince Young folded under the pressure in Tennesse. He won't be coming to the Dolphins under the same pressure. He wouldnt be a high draft pick, and they wouldnt just be handing him the keys to the car, so to speak. He would have to compete with Henne. And he would more than likely win easily. Everyone bashing him for a headcase obviously doesnt understand how passionate the dude is.
Posted by: paPhinsPhan | July 29, 2011 at 11:53 AM
how is Henne doing?
Posted by: Eric | July 29, 2011 at 11:53 AM
Disappointing crowd today. About 2/3 full.
Posted by: Armando Salguero | July 29, 2011 at 11:54 AM
the pats and jets have a system. you can plug anyone in and the team runs efficiently. their coaches and fo are the best. troubled players are easily assimilated and are productive. we are scared to take a chance because the system is faulty and cant handle a possible distraction. other teams have a veteran presence who keep everyone in line. we dont have that hierarchy;only a will allen. other wise we could take a chance on a vyoung, braylon edwards,s.holmes, ocho or haynesworth etc. no guts,no glory!
Posted by: greg z. | July 29, 2011 at 11:55 AM
Do you think that maybe the Fins signed Moore to improve their leverage with the Broncos? Personally, I think they should stick with Henne 1 more year and if he sucks, that just means a higher draft pick. Orton=another delay in drafting a real QB.
Posted by: BigDog | July 29, 2011 at 11:55 AM
Rumormill where did you hear that?
Posted by: gulfdiverdown | July 29, 2011 at 11:55 AM
Moore is originally from Dallas, thats why. They know him.
Posted by: Simon Says | July 29, 2011 at 11:57 AM
"Disappointing crowd today. About 2/3 full."
Can you blame them? Look at our QB situation.
Posted by: Nick B | July 29, 2011 at 11:57 AM
Trade Henne, Ronnie, and Ricky for Orton and Quinn. Forget Moore.
Posted by: OhioDphin4Life | July 29, 2011 at 11:57 AM
trade the 2 sparano's,ireland, moore and henne for orton!
Posted by: greg z. | July 29, 2011 at 11:59 AM
You know WHYYY it's disappointing armando!? Because everyone in south florida knows that this team has ZERO chance this year. We are talking about signing Matt Moore damn it! While the pats pick up Haynesworth and Ochocinco and the Jets get nnamdi...
WE SUUUCK!
So angry right now! Screw Henne, Screw Ireland, Screw Ross, Screw Dee and Just F*@K THE ENTIRE DOLFINS ORGANIZATION! You have toyed with my emotions too long!
Posted by: CaymanFinfan | July 29, 2011 at 12:00 PM
TRADE AS GREG Z SAID 2 SPARANO'S,IRELAND,MOORE AND THE DENTIST FOR ORTON .
Posted by: ALoco | July 29, 2011 at 12:01 PM
Armando, you're kidding right? Ross said that? Oh boy...This is very promising isn't it? God I wish Mark Cuban would buy this team...
Posted by: #1 Dolphin Fan in Montreal | July 29, 2011 at 12:01 PM
Might as well get what we can for Ronnie and Ricky while we can, let's get a good QB
Posted by: S. White | July 29, 2011 at 12:01 PM
Sheets, Garner, Murtha, Lex Hilliard are not on the field and not even on the roster as CBA rules won't let them on until 6 pm tonight and possibly not on the field until Aug. 4.
Posted by: Armando Salguero | July 29, 2011 at 12:02 PM
NFL Network just reported Matt Moore signs with Dolphins.
You know, I have been a fan for 25 years and never been so disappointed than right now.
6-10 this year. Ireland and Sparano just don't get it.... without a serious QB you don't have a serious chance.
Why Mando.. WHY!?
