Dolphins practice live blog here

I'm at the facility and expect to live blog practice so head on over to the comments section starting around 11:05 to check out what's going on.

I can say this early on:

I cannot believe what I've already heard this morning. No, not about the Kyle Orton trade or Reggie Bush or Mike Pouncey's contract status.

It's the words of owner Stephen Ross. This is what he said, in part, during his meeting with the media moments ago:

""There's a fine line between winning and losing. There's three games we could have won for sure and then there's Pittsburgh, which we all think we won and then look at what our record is. The Jets squeezed by and got a few lucky wins as well. The thing is winning and knowing how to win at the end of the game. That's what's important. Our record doesn't show that's what we do. But you can't say these are teams that are much better than we are and we're really a lagger to them ... You can't draw a fine line and say this team is that much better because they're not. There's a lot of parity in the NFL and we have a lot of great young players. Look how far we've come in a short period of time."

Um, note to Mr. Ross:

The Patriots were 14-2 last year.

The Jets went to the AFC championship game for the second year in a row.

And the Dolphins didn't lag behind?

Dusty what are you talking about, Thigpen was a free agent, the Dolphins had no control over him.

tebow sucks, but denver just went over the cap with the mcgahee signing so orton wont be there unless he takes a pay cut

HENNE sucked last year, he WILL suck again this year. You either have it and get it as a QB or you dont, HENNE DOES NOT !!!!!!

Orton staying in Denver and will have his best year yet. Dolphins crater again.

Well DC, you have said it in the past also.

NO one knows what Henne can and can not do. If there is any truth to the over coaching and control of Henne then ther is one thing.

The O-line was attrocious at everything... No holes for the RB's, pass protection was very inconsitant.

I mean it was a comedy of F-ups last year, It felt like we were cursed.

Until all those things are cleared up we have no clue what Henne can and can not do.

That is my only point about anyone saying he sucks... that is stupid, he does not "suck", but he has some work to do.

According to players at the voluntary work outs, he looked like a different guy, throwing the ball and leadership. Leadership was one of the big knocks and he might have conquered that.

Only if he would pump fake.

Here we go again with the same old hype pre-season year after year. I can't wait for 2012 when we get rid of this zest pool-Ireland, Ross, Sporanus, and the all talented Dabol. By the way, what's happening with the aggressive search for talent once free agency opened? Reggie Bush is it?? Yu've got to be shi==== me! If you think you cn beat the Pats or the Jets-wake up!!!

said last year on thigpen just for the record. not this offseason

I hope that the rookies can step up to the plate and help turn around this offence because I'm not real impressed that our Free Agent signings are going to add a lot. Yes, Reggie can be exciting. But, the Saints think that Sproles can give them the same or better. How many miles does Bush have left? And, Matt Moore is...well, Matt Moore! Nothing to get excited about there either. Now, I'm hearing that Henne looks rusty in camp; better leader, worse arm! C'mon man! We all heard about your antics in the off-season. Did you think to actually work on your game? And, you were the guy running the workouts during the lockout!!!
Well, if we're gonna suck this year, I hope we suck really bad so the next guys have some good picks in the draft. Are we on the clock yet?

You have to understand DC Dolfin, they can't sit Tebow with that contract and sign Orton. In orderr to do that they will have 20 million in two QB's. They have to play Tebow or lose him, it is a no win for them. John Fox isn't seeing that, look what he did and who he did it with in Carolina. He only needs a QB to manage not win games. They will load RB's and Play action. I'm not saying we shouldn't give up a second for Orton, he wins and manages and it is worth it. I'm just saying that the Dolphins are fine with Henne starting. Everyone can say what they want but you have to look at the OL, OC (Henning) and what Henne had to work with. Of course anyone can end our season with an injury, what would New England do if Brady goes down? That is something we can't guess on.

I just pooped my pants because I realized how full of crap i am...hehehe!!

Poizen, trust me bro, you won't hear another negative peep from me on Henne's performance THIS year until Sept. 12.

Henne is now MY QB. I don't have another one I have faith in on the team at the moment. He's my ONLY hope. So call me Henne's biggest cheerleader right now.

I just hope he doesn't get hurt (or reverts back to Dec. last year). That'll mean bye-bye Henne, Sparano, Daboll, Ireland, the whole lot of them.

If Orton coms here....HE WON'T BE A BACK-UP.....

You don't go thru ALL THIS...to sign your back-up....

LOL, fake poizen is funny, but to much of a pu**y to say who he is...

What we do know is the fake poizen loves other mens arses...

C'mon tough guy... who are ya? scared?

yep u are.

I understand your post now. Yes, they could restructure other players contracts. Dawkins is one guy that's been discussed but that would be minimal. There are other guys that would need to get reworked.

You're scenario seems reasonable and I've thought along they were making a mistake. However, the reality is they want to look at Tebow and I don't think a few days is going to do it. They feel this is his team. I'd be shocked if he doesn't start the season for Denver and I think there thinking is they aren't going to be very good this year, so they want to see what they have in Tebow and whether they need to draft a QB again next year. Tebow leaves at the end of this year whether he sticks around or not, so I think they would prefer to get SOMETHING for him.

So while I get your post, I don't agree that Denver holds the cards and I don't agree we were better off before signing Moore. We had to get a QB now. Dolphins will wait until Thursday to see if Orton comes available and then likely go and sign another QB, someone like Trent Edwards or Marc Bulger. But make no mistake, we HAD to get someone now.

Most of you "fans" that comment on how John Beck sucked and sucks and Chad Henne sucks have no clue what your talking about or about football. It takes time for most QB's to mature (More than 2 years starting).
Henne and Ortan have very similar career QB rating numbers as does Henne and Sanchez. The main difference is Henne has played with horrible offensive lines, no receivers (until last year) weak running and return games, while the other 2 haven't shall I go on? Henne is only in his 3rd year starting and has a huge upside compared to Ortan who has already peaked and by his 3rd year in the league was still beaten out by Rex Grossman. Give Henne this year before stating you know how good he is or can be.
PS The Redskins chose John Beck over Ortan. The Bills chose Tyler Thigpen over Ortan. Case closed.

this regime is a joke. hope it all blows up in their face so they are fired. bring in Gruden, Cowher, anyone else

Brent, I'm fine with Henne starting too. I'm just not fine with Moore being the backup.

I thought Mando had the people stealing other peoples names under control... what happened there?

Craig, read up on it. Denver can keep Orton at his existing salary if they want to. They don't have to restructure anything. Miami is playing chicken & if they lose it will be our loss, not Denvers.

Wait, I am the real Poizen not you. who are you. Wait if I am me and you are me then who are we?? Damn, I am dumb!

The cap is not an issue in Denver. It's been widely reported on the last two days. They can keep Orton and Orton himself says he is not certain he wants to leave Denver. The fans sure hope he leaves though.

no doubt, orton is the starter without even taking a snap here if they get him ss what are u talking about?

Craig, why did we have to get a QB now? And this isn't a dis, I'm honestly trying to understand your logic.

If you think they'll go sign Bulger or someone else if Orton doesn't happen, then why couldn't they wait a week and then get whomever then (I'm sure Bulger and at the very least Moore would have been there Aug. 4). So why did they HAVE TO sign a QB now? Please explain.

point is why would they keep him as a 10 mill per backup

I am still holding out hope that we sign "Orton hears a Who" He would be a better option than Mary Lou Henne. She was actually hot back in the day on Taxi. Loved the red hair, but I always wondered whether the curtains matched the carpet.

bulger would of been a great signing by a team like ours. smart accurate vet, would easily beat out garbage henne

Fake Poizen, give it a rest man. It's the beginning of the season, and we're all just Dolphins fans who want to communicate with other Dolphins fans. Can't you get your own freakin' username and state your opinion like the rest of us? It's way too early for all this stupidity on here.

Joe, curious.

Do you really think Orton is tha much of an upgrade than Henne? I assume you do.

I get his record is a ton better, but if you look at ortons first two years in the league I think he was having a tough time beating Grossman out.

I get having Orton instead of Moore and Delvin.

But if Orton is nothing more than a hair better than Henne, does that make that move a complete waste?

I mean if it ends up that way, I am not saying I think it is fact Orton is not better.

I personally do not think Orton is better, but wondering your thoughts on that.

dusty bottoms, do you even know what you are talking about?? I swear I have met smarter people at the special Olympics.

in your conversation with DC....after all these things are perfect....after they fix the o-line...get a TE....have the best defence in fooball since the 2,000 Raven's.....and...and....raise the DEBT Ceiling.....

Then....then...can we...maybe talk about a Henne's problems.....

DC, I don't think anyone on here is fine with Matt moore at backup. Hell, I would rather they sign Duante Culpepper off the street...lol!

So you played in the Special Olympics Poizen?

Fake Poizon is actually Stephen Ross. Sans the fake nose and glasses.

I am just so tired of this unfair conversation on Chad. Let's be realistic. If you gave him Larry Fitzgerald, Adrian Peterson and Chris Johnson, you would see my boy do very well. It is a team game for heavens sake.

Kris, We can talk about them now, it is fine, the problem is there are to many external factors to last years disaster.

I will be the first to ask for Henne to hit the road if our O-line plays great and he is loosing games.

That just hasn't happened yet.

If you have read my posts you know I am not being unreasonable.

DC has disagreed with me and he seems to get that I am not the head of the Henne fan club, I just think he has the ability, and not willing to give up off of last years disaster.

If he sucks this year, good riddence, he wont be here cause the coaches will get fired, and im cool with that!

pats got ocho for a 5th and 6th rd pick only. im sick

I bought a Henne jersey after he led them back against the Jets on Monday night football and I'll stick with him. The offense last year was not set up for him, the play calling was not strong and even the Herald ran articles about how repetitive the dropbacks were and it made it hard for any rhythm to occur. Take the handcuffs off Henne and let him not be looking over his shoulder every week, that's when bad decisions are made.

hilarious marc. dude walked right into that one

Marc, so now you are going to join the circus also? C'mon man!

Careful NYDolphan, don't go there...

Soon someone will steal your name and try and be funny if you have that opinion. :)

I'll check it out. Thanks for posting.

DC, I think they had to nab somebody now because guys are getting snapped up left right and centre. Since Tuesday.....Kolb, Hasselbeck, McNabb, Thigpen, Jackson, Leinart, Young, Gradkowski, Stanton, Smith...I may be missing a couple. What you are asking the Dolphins to do is wait another SIX days before they do anything. Who will be left? There are still teams looking to upgrade and fill holes. For my money (and you said it too) Henne was the only guy we had under contract. We don't really know much about Brandstander and if he's able to compete. In my mind they needed TWO QBs, at least for competition.

I really don't get the "falling in love" with a player stuff...

each player must do their part to make the TEAM better...be him QB/RB/OL/SS/ETC.....

If the PLAYER is not helping the TEAM.....than he is a NEGATIVE for that team...and needs more training before he can become a positive.....

Stay TEAM focused...and the players will then take care themselves....

kris, just be happy Poizen and Craig M are on board to get a 1st-rd QB next year if the Henne experiment doesn't work. I remember you were one of the big proponents that you needed to get a franchise QB in the 1st-round. Me too. Now looks like mostly everyone is on board with us. That's good news, right?

Henne isn't that bad ya'll... He had no OL last year aside from Jake Long. The R&R tanked WORSE than Henne did. Plus don't forget who was calling the plays.

Give Henne a chance this year to make it or break it. All the QBs out there (including Orton) don't give us a Super Bowl contender overnight. Sure, they might be better but not significantly.

I'm glad Ireland didn't give up another 2nd round pick on a horrible QB (think Culpepper & AJ Feeley)!

Tell 'em NY Dolfan, I said the same thing. Henne may screw this year up and if he does, sea ya! But if he gets Big T busting open the hole and Pouncey leading the pull so the play action works, we are golden! I still feel we need to grab a couple backups for the OL since the market is loaded with them!

Dusty if you thought that was really me, you got issues bro,

I agree with DC Dolfan. I mean come on you jackoff. You should be more like him with his ridiculous opinions and moronic views.

DC, I agreed with that at the end of last season!!!

What happened to Mando? Mando was watching actual Dolphins ( many of them, anyway) engage in actual football-like activities. What's the word Mando?

BTW--stop spouting Moore stats. Stats are for fantasy geeks. It's a team sport. Nobody would have looked good playing for the Panthers. Every pass was a desperation throw, and about half the defense could cover Smith while most of the other half prison-raped the kid.

DC, now your a target to, this is fun...

Sorry bro.

If your reasoning for "sticking with Henne" is because you don't want to buy a different Jersey.....

well....nuff said...

All I want to hear on the first game day at home over the loud speaker is WELCOME TO THE THUNDERDOME!

Is the rumor that Mando got fired true? He hasn't posted on his own live blog in hours.... maybe I should check that Oregon newspaper, they might have updates on Dolphin training camp or Mando's status.

Signing Matt Moore is a head scratcher. No credentials or name. If you don't want to pay Orton at least Bulger was good ONCE. Well, you the man Henne. I hope for that breakout season so many have predicted but the vision of those aweful games last year against the Bills, Lions, and Browns are seered into my brain. At least until Henne does something to remove them.

Craig, thanks for the explanation, now I see the logic of your thinking. I guess it was good to get someone, but then why didn't they go for Bulger (don't you think he's a better backup than Moore)?

kris, Poizen is NOT being unreasonable. He and others feel Henne will show improvement this year. They are as much the authority on that as those that say Henne won't be any better. We just don't know what will happen with all the changes between this year and last year. We'll have to wait and see what happens to decide if it was wise to give Henne another chance (though I don't think we had much of a choice, and for that I don't fault anyone but Ireland).

Moore, you have got be kidding me. Henne is the starter and Pat is the back up. Moore is the third string QB . Fire Irland and this coach. We need some LUCK. And now we will get him.

Mando is probably covering the Pats! COME ON MAN DO N'T KNOW WHERE THE HELL YOU WENT! We need some updates!

Thanks for the article. Yes, I see now it's possible for the Broncos to keep Orton and still be under the cap. The question will be if they chose to do that. Seems they won't be able to do much in FA if they do and I know they signed McGahee today I think to a $7.5 mil contract. It'll be interesting to see what else they do. I think there team will be lousy again this year. It'll be interesting to see if they decide to get something for Orton or let him walk away for nothing.

You guys are a bunch of jokes. We can put our second string in and beat you. This year is gonna be easy HAHAHAH!!!

I wouldn't mind seeing Cowher or Gruden calling th eshots next year!
