Live practice blog and Orton may still hear Miami's who

First things first: Please check out my column from the pages of the Miami Herald this morning. It discusses how ugly the Dolphins looked as a football team at their first training camp practice Friday and why. It also tells you why there is good news on the way.

It also tells you that there still could be great news on the way. And the great news is that, contrary to many reports, the Dolphins have not completely closed the door on Kyle Orton.

Once you get done with that, head back here to the comments section because I will be live blogging the Dolphins 11 a.m. practice -- as I did yesterday.

See you in the comments section.

VA Fin Fan, your comments on Henne are wayyy off base. Henne's numbers are equal or better then Brees, Bradshaw, Aikman, Namath's and plenty of other great QBs at the same point in their football careers. Lots of Pro Football people have stated that it takes at least 3 years of starts to see if a QB has it or not. All of the above mentioned QBs would have been traded or cut if it was up to you.

If they were so worried about their career status we'd have a QB in the 1st round of the draft.

Orton is not that much better than Hene after 6 years our kid only has 2 as a starter with crappy O-Line and no running game , lets not lynch him just yet or deem Orton the Messiah I thought Tebow was that lol

Here: Chad Henne in 7 on 7 drills overthrows Brian Hartline on a 9 route.

Poizen, not impying that Henne cant win games, however the guy is innacurate, cant read the field and is a step too slow in comparison to other QBs. You can assemble a pro-bowl squad around him, but I still have trouble believing he can win in NY or NE in Jan. Unless we have the #1 defense in the league, Henne is not gonna beat anyone.

POUNCY'S CONTRACT WILL DONE TONIGHT .

VA FIn Fan I see your point but with Dansby,Wake,Misi and Burnett I think we will have close to the best D in the league :)

Henne is not going to lay down for Orton or anyone else, He has been working hard all summer. We will know by end of 1st game if hes done or not weather we get orton,or if its just moore. Be patient folks,my hope is everything starts clicking for Henne and he becomes our QB for his entire career. If it dont happen by end of NE game then we should move on with Moore, Orton, Devlin, or whoever we can get. As fans we should be rooting for all Dolphin players. Stop the bashing.

aug 4 miami makes or breaks their season, very simple

Shalom,
Some points and questions:
I do NOT like what i've seen.
1. I do not understand why the doplpins gave up a pick for Bush if the Saints were on their way to cut him.
2. Bush has injuries history and Thomas is a Rocky who can be great or or Not. I think it will be wise to bring back R. Williams for another year to give depth to this important position.
3. Is Moore an upgrade to Henne? If it didn't go well with Orton why not go with VY (to late by now)?
4.Is Burnett an upgrade to Crowder?was it posible to get a late pick for Crowder? or maybe make him a part of a trade?
Thanks
Abraham

I will agree after i see him, or hear about him in practice and some pre-seaason gmes, bu for someone to claim all the negatives about him are facts through these 2 years, is jumping the gun...thats all im sayin.

Is there another Dolphins blog where people use grammar and know how to spell? Just asking...

ALoco - WHY ARE YOU YELLING, MAN? ;)

Gotta Love This:

When Nnamdi Asomugha chose the Eagles over the Jets, the folks at the New York Daily News took it personally.

The back page headline in today’s paper reads:

“Nnamdi to N.Y.: Drop Dead! Sticks it to Jets and Giants by signing with Eagles.”

DROP DEAD BIPLANES! LOL..........

I AM NOT YELLING . I AN SHOUTING .

bobbyd12 & Poizen, I hope my comments are way off. But from what I see, Henne shrinks in the face of pressure, and his teammates have given up on him. I hope he turns it on, but my money says he is what he is.

STARKS FLATEND THE NEW ROOKIE D.THOMAS WITH A BIG HIT .

Lobo you may be correct, IF they stay healthy and IF Big Paul comes to play. But still need a real QB...

I reported last night Burnett was seeking a contract from the Chargers in the neiborhood of $5 million a year.

Seems he's got it from us though all of its not guaranteed! LOL..........

For u fans that did not watch Henne and Edwards at Michigan they had a great connection and won many games in the last few minutes with long bombs and running great routes. If this comes through for Edwards Henne will be the starter!!!

Orton IS NOT an upgrade!!! He just happened to play for one of the best OC's and Henne.. Well Henne had Henning..

I just want the damn to to win in the end. Hnne, no Henne, that is what I care about.

I just still feel Henne has got a lot of good to offer... hopefully.

if not... dont let the door hit ya... :)

I agree we need a real QB but lets look realistically around the league there arent alot of big names out there and half them didnt win crap anyway. Kassel , Freeman,Eli, as well as a few others all look way better then Henne yet still did jack crap

Mando,

Sorry, but I don't know how you "really" feel about Marshall.... my gut tells me that you are an admirer of his physique.... lol....on a more serious note.... What is your take of the new offensive coach? Would it be possible that he can be the difference for Henne?

Maybe this should be the ALoco blog since he is the only one updating

robbyhenz, love ya bro, but cannot agree that Orton is not an upgrade.

Rick: Please take a look at Henne's play (not stats) over his career - heck, just last year is enough since he was benched when the job was his alone. Then look at Moore's with Carolina (even worse). Then look at Daboll's offense in Cleveland (with arguably better players as a unit than we had last year) and you'll see his was ranked 31st in the NFL - worse than Henning's, and that is supposed to light an inspirational fire under the fan base? It's not like we, as fans, have a choice but to watch and pray that this dog doesn't have fleas but it continues to looks like a trailer park mutt to me, barring any palacial upgrades over the next few days (say, a real QB, a proven RB - really, handing the whole ball of wax to a rookie with fumble-itis and a broken Reggie Bush?, a new TE (why the heck isn't Todd Heap in camp???) to pair with Mr. Mediocre, Fasano, and maybe a decent WR (no, Hartline isn't a true speed threat and trips all over himself like a 5th grade girl at prom and Gates is an unproven rookie; fingers crossed on him). Don't forget that the QB coach has never ncoached QBs before - and don't give me that former college HC crap - this guy was a WR and is not qualified to coach QBs. There is so much wrong on so many deeper levels that you could bring last year's Packers down here, suit them up in Aqua and Orange and, with this coaching staff, they'd miss the playoffs.

That said, hopefully Henne can become a completely different QB from his college and early Pro career; maybe Daboll suddenly turns into Belichek; maybe Sparano finds a football brain somewhere; maybe the NFL turns FGs into 7 points and TDs into 3 pts.

Love my Fins but soooo tired of the S.O.S year in, year out.

Jason Laconfra: Orton deal is dead!! They paid Orton a 1.5 million roster bonus.. Could still get it done, but dead for now! I HOPE IT STAYS DEAD...

JASON..... I AM NOT SURE BUT D.THOMAS ,I HEAR HE GOT TURF IN HIS MOUTH FROM THAT HIT /

I could go for a good 'ol fashion Michael Irvin crack-induced ramble fest right about now

Eli was the super bowl MVP man, and Matt "Sand" Cassel turned it on last year for KC. The only one of those i can agree with you on is Freeman.

Mando, u didn't answer if you think the OC's had anything to do with Orton's success and Henne's lack of....

Orton may not be the best QB in the NFL, but saying he's not an upgrade is not very knowledgeable.

AT LAST HENNE MADE A THROW TO FASANO .

Michael, not a lack of knowledge.. Unless you are Manning or Brady, there are many moving parts involved in being successful.. HENNE HAD HENINING!!! His last yr was the worst OC job in history..

Armando,

You're on point with Orton. Deal get done when it HAS to.

As for Bush as the lead back, thats just talk, same way they talked up Ginn and G Wilson.

He was brought in to create mismatches and take checkdowns to the house.

D Thomas will do our work between the tackles.

Sure the opportunity is there for bush to be lead back, but thats not the plan.

Orton and Henne are very similar. The difference being Orton is far more confident in his abilities. I would take Orton over Henne.

Orton is not the final answer, but you insert him in last years team, and we win 2-3 more games. Just find someone who does not throw costly picks in the 4th when we have a 3 point lead and just need to move the ball to close out the games. That was my biggest gripe with Henne. Buf, Cle, and Pit were all games that Orton would have closed.

Jeff Ireland has spent the entire practice on the field with a phone at his ear and a legal pad in his hands. Negotiating.

So with Orton we go 9-7 and with Henne 8-8?? At least we get a better pick!!

Did you even take the time to see what Orton did the last 3 years. If you did yo would see he passed for 2900, 3800, and 3600 yeard, 18, 21 and 20 TD's, and threw 12, 12, and 9 INT's. That's an upgrade period.

Orton choked in a lot of games last that is why he was benched for a rookie

Henne's psychie could be so fragile he's only one great Marshall rant at him from going total 2nd rd bust.

What do you folks think of Matt Flynn from GB or Hoyer from NE? Possible options for us?

: Armando Salguero any idea who he is trying to get . I say TE Miller

NO Robby, we went 7-9 and 7-9 with Henne. And Henne looked lost in the 2 minute drill. Don't finesse the numbers.

No idea lobo.

I like Matt Flynn better then Orton or Henne he looked good stepping in for Aaron

What games did he chock in. Please let me know. the defense was the problem, they allowed 30 points per game. Last in the NFL. Come on don't post what you don't know.

Wonder what GB would take for Matt Flynn, and Hoyer came in to torch us last season too. Only one game but I liked the sampling...

I think Ireland is being smart , he is getting as many weapons as possible tightening the D up and keeping our damn draft picks to ourselves

UPDATE:DOLPHINS JUST TRADED ENTIRE DEFENSE FOR TOM BRADY

GB WILL NEVER PART WAYS WITH FLYNN AFTER LAST YEAR ISSUES W.ARRON ROGERS .

AS FOR HOYER........ IN YOUR DREAMS..HE'S THE NEXT BRADY .

VA FIN FAN,

Flynn, Hoyer? Dont we already have a qb named Henne who's proved very little in the Nfl? Actually even Henne's proven more.

GB will never give up Flynn they unlike us actually have a backup that can win for them

Dave Hyde just reported on WQAM that Denver want a #2 and Randy Starks for Orton.

VA FIN FAN,

AJ Feeley has already given us a sampling we'll never forget. No thanks, I rather have a more proven product at qb.

Smart move to tell Denver to go suck one . Starks is a beast when he is stable at DE and a 2nd yeah right maybe Orton is worth a 5th

Mando, How's Rashaad Jones lookin? Is he overtaking Clemmons this yr.

I GOT THE FEELING THAT ARMANDO GETS LEEKED INFO FROM IRELAND HIMSELF .............

Mando is on NFL network...
