we should get deangelo williams and vy but the front office has to get some brass instead of fluff
Posted by: bubby | July 25, 2011 at 08:25 PM
We don't need comedians like Crowder. He should go. Save money and spend it in a good player.
Posted by: xerxesblack | July 25, 2011 at 08:26 PM
Jeff Ireland is now on the clock.....please acquire a QB via trade be it K. Orton or C. Palmer....please acquire a RB, specifically A. Bradshaw....please acquire OL specifically D. Joseph or D. Free.....if you want to add in S. Holmes I have no problem with that, just get that baller out of NY.....
Posted by: Steve | July 25, 2011 at 08:36 PM
According to Dave Hyde, the Dolphins are very interested in Kyle Orton and willing to give up a draft pick. Problem is many other teams are interested as well.
Posted by: #1 Dolphin Fan in Montreal | July 25, 2011 at 08:46 PM
If the Dolphins want to improve the o-line, they should go after Carl Nicks. This guy is stronger than a grizzly bear, nobody can push hum backwards. He's been a real leader in New Orleans, and if the Saints lose him, it would be a huge loss for them. Excellent run blocker and pretty decent pass protector. The Dolphins HAVE to improve the o-line. Pouncey is a good start. Keep it up.
Posted by: #1 Dolphin Fan in Montreal | July 25, 2011 at 08:50 PM
it will either be VY, or orton. as far as rb, probably bradshaw.
Posted by: dolphin 77 | July 25, 2011 at 09:06 PM
Zach Miller (TE) and Ahmad Bradshaw (RB). First day signings.
Then scoop up Matt Moore (QB) and Vince Young (QB) and shore up the secondary with a veteran FS and CB.
Posted by: Dana | July 25, 2011 at 09:27 PM
How many OLineman have they brought in the last 2-3 years? And that's TS' specialty! How could they miss on so many? Time to get it right!
Posted by: finsfan72 | July 25, 2011 at 09:31 PM
Without a strong OL nothing works on Offense.
Posted by: finsfan72 | July 25, 2011 at 09:32 PM
Tenn doesn't have another experienced QB on their roster and they are still willing to cut VY, why do you think that is. VY has the same passer rating as Henne, and he's thrown as many interceptions 42, as TD passes 42. You never know when he's going to attempt suicide.
Posted by: Michael | July 25, 2011 at 09:34 PM
Stats can be twisted to bolster any argument. VY has been a stud the last 2 seasons. WAYYYYYY better the the hanging Chad. Look it up.
He had a feud with Jeff Fisher, doesn't make him a nutjob.
Posted by: finsfan72 | July 25, 2011 at 09:37 PM
Vince Young,DeAngelo Williams........end of discussion.
Posted by: jaun blaze | July 25, 2011 at 09:37 PM
DeAngelo or Bradshaw would work. VY for sure!

You can bet your bottom $ that the Dolphins #1 priority now is signing......a QB.

I didn't see an awful lot when I looked at who was available but for me the first guy I would target is Zach Miller of the Raiders. Big target, gets open and would be great in the Red Zone. Amazing that he's even available! After that I'd be exploring Ahmad Bradshaw and D'Angelo Williams. I would be nice to see another LBer opposite Wake. Maybe a guy like Manny Lawson might fit the bill but he's never been a big sack guy and to be honest I'm still high on Misi. I'd have to go back and look at that one again because the guy didn't jump out at me.

Lets face it finfans, we're not going to get a Manning, Rodgers, or Brady in fa at qb. So me may as well go with the guy who has the most "upside". This guy seems to be VY, love it or hate it.
After spending a 2nd rd pick on the rb position I believe its very wishful thinking Ireland will sign DeAngelo Williams. Especially after not having injury prone olinemen Groves and Smiley not workout. Williams is injury prone, believe that. So is Reggie Bush.
If not signing Reggie Bush or DeAngelo Williams upset you. Then see: Grove/Smiley. This will be a very interesting next couple weeks. So let's hang onto our a*sses because it may be a very bumpy ride.

Let's not give Misi more than his rookie season to develop even though he did pretty well. Nope, lets go bring in some FA and just forget about the high pick we used on Misi. All of our picks should be probowlers in thier first year or we should look to replace them immediately. Yep. That is what some of you suggest.

DB,
I've heard you trumpet many times before your interest in adding Zach Miller. Why now love for him now?
Incidentally, I was disappointed to read earlier that you would actually consider wearing Jet gear. Sorry man, I don't if it has value or not, they are scum!! I couldn't never do it.

CraigM,
Yes before the Clay pick I trumpeted for Miller. Problem isnt Fasano cant catch. Problem is he hasnt enough speed to become a seam threat. Clay supposedly now represents this.
Still I wouldnt be against signing Miller, but I dont he'll come real cheap. We maybe better served spending bigger bucks in other pressing areas. We're about 12 million under cap and still have yet to sign the rooks.
I fear it may take about $5million a yr to sign Miller and it wouldnt leave much room to go after much else thats decent enough to better serve other need areas. With the acquisition of Clay Im hoping we still dont need to dump another $5million into the TE positon.

db........... I AM BACK FROM WORK AND THE FIRST POST I READ HAS FASANO IN IT.........................................
FASANO AND HARTLINE NOT WORTH A DIME .IF NOT FOR FASANO DROPPING THESE BALLS FROM HENNE LAST YEAR ,WE WOULD BE IN THE PLAYOFFS .

DB,
You were also a guy who didn't want a 4th or 5th round guy stepping in to be our TE. You wanted a guy who was a 'diiference maker'. I'm not taking you to task for it, I'm just syaing you've changed your tune. I'm OK with Clay but I highly doubt under the circumstances that he steps right in and has huge impact right away. Miller could do that. You're right on when talking about Fasano....he can't separate. Miller can. When you look at one of the biggest problems on this team last year it was Red Zone efficiency. Miller would help tremedously. Yes, he won't give cheap...I figure $4-5 million a year on a long term deal. He could be the answer for the next 4-5 years. Yes, we need help at RB and QB and we only have so much money to play with. I'd make hima priority. Fasano could even be chopped if need be.

Craig,
You are chasing your own shadow trying to debate with DB. He is a moving target, changes his tune faster than a wedding band and doesn't look back. You are lucky if he doesn't ridicule you for suggesting something he suggested only a week ago.

Dolphins announced today they are returning lost wages during the lockout to employees. Nice to see!!
There's a lot of people suggesting the team should go after Michael Huff or Eric Weddle in FA. That would be huge (more so with Weddle). it would ultimately mean the end of the line for Yeremiah Bell, which I don't think would be terrible.

darrilo,
Good point. If he's changed his mind from a number of months ago that's fine. I'm just curious why. I know he was really bullish on Miller five months ago. I just wonder why the change now.
