Vince Young? Not really a fit in Miami

Vince Young spent time this offseason in South Florida where he was seen at more than one charitable function that included other NFL types.

The word around town is Young was doing his good deed but also making himself very visible to the Dolphins' organization as a good man that would be good for the team and community. Yes, Vince Young would welcome the idea of competing for a starting job as the Dolphins quarterback, according to several sources.

More than one former NFLer who saw Young at an event tells me Young was building his reputation so that the Fins could consider him when time comes for them to add a quarterback once the current lockout ends and the league year opens.

Young is expected to be available, probably as a free agent, if the Tennessee Titans can be believed. Ownership in Tennessee has made it abundantly clear the Vince Young experiment has run its course in Nashville so Young will be traded, but more likely cut and on the street as a free agent.

So obviously media speculation is tying Young to the Dolphins.

I don't see it. Not even for the quarterback starved Dolphins.

Vince Young is nice player. Sometimes. He is an accomplished winner. He is an accomplished college player. He is an accomplished scrambler.

He is not an accomplished quarterback. His 42 career TD passes and 42 career interceptions is, to be kind, an unimpressive statistic.

More importantly, Young is not an accomplished leader. Fact is, the Titans are ending their relationship with Young because he was troubled for much of his time with the team. The most recent trouble came last year when Young reportedly feuded with coach Jeff Fisher, leading him to simply leave the team. The departure was viewed by Fisher and some of Young's teammates as the quarterback quitting on the team.

Young later apologized for leaving the team. He reportedly did it via text. Fisher didn't accept an apology he expected in person. So it goes.

Does that sound like the kind of quarterback the Dolphins will want to bring into their delicate locker room? Miami, you'll remember, is a place where general manager Jeff Ireland and coach Tony Sparano like to pick the "right 53 players" and not always the best 53.

Young would be among the right 53 if his skills were so unquestionable and Miami's locker room were so stable that the two could navigate any rocky road (good ice cream, by the way) were it come along during a relationship. But stability is not a luxury the Dolphins have.

Miami is searching for a veteran QB with know-how, with the ability to learn quickly (because of the lockout and the fact the everyone is learning OC Brian Daboll's new offense on the fly), and someone who can do that while presenting incumbent Chad Henne with a vigorous challenge to his starting job.

Oh, one more thing: The Dolphins need that guy to be able to be a great teammate and leader because that's what he must be if he losesthe competition with Henne and has to sink into the background without causing a stir. That's also what it will take if that guy winsthe competition with Henne and then has to deal with Brandon Marshall's enigmatic approach to a quarterback-diva receiver relationship.

Can you imagine Marshall barking at Vince Young like he sometimes does Henne and it going over well?

Young would be a perfect fit if the Dolphins had the luxury of adding him as a talent to groom for the future. Young would be a perfect fit if he could come to the team as the backup and learn at the knee of an accomplished veteran quarterback. Young needs to learn to be a professional. The Dolphins wouldn't be easing him into that kind of situation.

And I strongly believe they recognize that.

That is why I don't think Vince Young is Miami's first choice in the coming search for a quarterback once the NFL ends its lockout.

DyingBreed,

I am only commenting on the charade of the situation, nothing more. Besides, I have no interest in preseason games so I could care less if they get missed. I'd like to see a full season, I believe a partial season will turn me off on football. It's sickening greed on both parties and I could care less the inner details of what they are debating. Its a priviledge for both sides, they should appreciate it and not show sickening greed at all costs.

SOME THING TO KNOW ....ALL PLATERS MUST AGREE ,EVEN IF ONE PLAYER SAY NO ...WILL BE NO AGREEMENT........

SOME NFL PLAYERS ARE TWEETING SAYING (( IF ALL 31 OWNERS AGREE ,THEN THERE'S DEAD FISH IN THE AGREEMENT ))

for one, would enjoy hearing the Cuban Menace's best case scenario:

I imagine it will be something like 5-11, with Henne posting a 73.3 QB rating and tossing 24 picks.

Gary, I'll go along with what Ive said all off-season, 3 and 13...........

While the owners will remain rich no matter what, losing preseason games does hurt their wallet and the public image of the NFL.

Guys think about it, sure there maybe "very small" issues to be finalized before the players sign off on the deal. But could this also be an "orchestrated ploy" by the entire nfl to shoot media rating through the roof prior to the first regular season game?

IMO, the "ratings drama" are already through the perverbial medialistic ceilings. Dont think for one minute the nfl wont financially benifit from the offseason's ratings drama. Drama sells my dolfan friends!

Ohhhh, Sorry Gary, "BEST" Case scenario???, Yeah, that's about right 5 and 11....JMHO Though guys, Dont hate......

ALERT............ OF SPECIAL DEALS .........

DREW BREES AND P.MANNING REQUESTED AND DENIED A SPECIAL DEAL TO NOT ALLOW THEIR TEAM TO TAG THEM AS FRANCHISE PLAYER AS LONG AS THEY PLAY ........... THEY SAID THEY WILL NOT SUPPORT AN AGREMENT IF THIS DIDN'T HAPPEN ...........

IT'S ALL ABOUT MONEY .......

....ALL PLATERS MUST AGREE ,EVEN IF ONE PLAYER SAY NO ...WILL BE NO AGREEMENT

Lil Aloco, What the deuce is a "Plater"????

PLAYERS CUBAN.....

Fans will be so thrill to attend and watch the first regular season games of 2011. All of the offseason's ratings drama will be totally forgotten and they will be even more eager to spend the money they do and dont have on everything nfl football.

The league has done a magnificent job of "dick-teasing" during this 2011 offseason. Fans will be jerking-off in thier showers prior to game one. LOL.....

I've thought about it, I don't think its that orchestrated. I do think they both waited until the final hour to see who would blink first, and now they are trying to thow it all together faster than possible. They are only now seeing where each side really stands. They are all a bunch of losersi in my book if they miss regular season games because of it.

PLAYERS TRYING TO CUT THEIR OWN DEALS SO FAR;;;;;;

DREW BREES
P.MANNING
MANKINS
JACKSON......................AND HELL WITH THE OTHER PLAYERS

Players: Owners tried to slip items into CBA
Posted by Gregg Rosenthal on July 21, 2011, 9:31 PM EDT

It appears players won’t be voting on ratifying a deal on Thursday night.

One major reason: Players feel that the owners are trying to add new elements to a deal.

“Here is what the ‘Real’ fans need to know: The owners tried to slip many things in to the CBA “they” voted on that were NEVER agreed to!” Saints fullback Heath Evans said on Twitter.

Similar player source quotes were relayed to various reporters. Mike Silver of Yahoo! Sports talked to an NFLPA* source who had a telling quote, when he said the NFL “will never learn” about backing players into a corner.

Looks like its going to get ugly before it gets pretty. No worries. Its only July 21.

Breed, That's a sight That just made me lose my appitite...... Thanks..

Vince Young is a winner and has a great deal of upside. No question they should sign VY!!!

Oregon Dolphin fan, VY has a lifetime 76 passer rating, very close to Henne. That's a fact.

Sorry Oregon Dolphin fan his lifetime passer rating is 75.4, about the same as Henne.

Khalid, Did'nt he quit on his team last year???, Not sure what your meaning of the word "Winner" Is but that's not mine.... Though Imight be wrong..

.......................................(( D.TEASING ))..................................................

CUBAN........ WHERE DB COMES UP WITH THESE COMBINED WORDS ?

............................ CONAN THE BARBARIAN..........................................

................ ARNOLD .......... CLASSIC MOVIE ON AMC NOW ...................

VY has intangibles that you need in a QB and is without question the best QB available

Just like mando you are skewing the facts. V Young's INT's and lower passing ratings are early career. V Young was the highest rated passer in the NFL the last 9 games of last year.
That's a fact just like the number of 4th qtr comebacks (7) and game winning drives (12) Which you believe total zero.

Michael your credibility here is lacking. Just like Mando, you don’t like VY. That’s ok. You don’t have to make things up in attempt to justify your bias.

VY has intangibles that you need in a QB and is without question the best QB available

Posted by: Khalid | July 21, 2011 at 10:09 PM

Intangibles?????Is IQ hovers around 80,Has Anger Issues,Was kicked off his team last year,Yeah, Your right, Just what this team needs...LOL, Sorry but just say "NO", Iam gonna throw up while typing this but Id Rather have Chad(Fatneck)Henne then Vince..., Again just MHO..

VY is a winner and playmaker in his prime and by far the best available QB. We can get him without making a trade and there is no greater need for the us than QB, This is a no brainer!! We can not make the same mistake and pass as we did with Michael Vick.

2010: 10 td's, 3 int's, 98.6 passer rating, 5 yards a carry.

Yeah he sucks. And football teams are full of geniuses.

Knuckleheads are successful in the NFL all the time. Look at Steve Young, dumb as a box of rocks yet very successful.

VY IS THE NEW M.VICK .

AGREE KHALID AND OREGON DOLPHINFAN .

I dont know Khalid, Kindda strech, But then again I cant stomach watching another "fat neck" year at QB, You might be right...LOL

Cuban you can not argue the facts VY wins when he plays period. All the other issues are overblown. His upside is great and we are in need of a playmaker at QB!! As we all can agree with or we can settle for average.

LOL AT CUBEN,LIKE A MEMBER OF THE GANG OF DEFEAT HE FLIP FLOPS LIKE DYING BRED THE GRAET WHITE SHERK OF FLIP FLOPING

Why not, What could it hurt????, Tired of 7 and 9...

NOW WE CAN GET BRADY QUINN CHEAP AND HE IS YOUNG WITH POTENTIAL. AND HE DOESN'T COST 13 MILLION LIKE OLD MAN PALMER.

Should Henne not play to expectations or is benched in 2011, neither Bulger nor Hasselbeck are longterm answers to our future at qb. Our chances of drafting a premium qb in 2012 that can be ready to be a playoff caliber qb in 2-3yrs are about as nifty as "circumcizing mosquitos".

VY could be leading us to a championship in 2-3yrs while a 2012 rookie qb will be just cutting his teeth as a starter. Plus we can get VY for nearly pennies on the dollar at this point in his career.

VY is a winner. He just needs a coaching staff that willing to be 100% behind him, then I believe he falls in line. Plus Henne's yet to show nearly enough to be 100% in his corner thus far as a starter. Only baboon-like reasoning will lead us to "wish upon a star" with Henne.

Getting VY at the market value he now commands would be like buying Microsoft stock well before the serious boom. There were those who thought investing in cable tv stock was moronic even as they were going outside to adjust thier tv antennaes. In the rain I might add! LOL...

Brady Quinn cant even beat out other bottom feeder nfl qb's. As a matter of fact, I dont believe Brady Quinn could be out Tyler Thigpen for a backup spot. Geesh!

BRADY QUINN IS OLD NEWS,TRY ANOTHER QB FAKE ALOCO .

Brady Quinn???, He's still in the NFL?????LMAOROTF Over the Browns, What a losing team in a losing state,in a losing city.....Nothing good except the R @ R HOF came outta that god forsaken place... WHAT????, Our new OC is from where?????

Aloco, What state are you in?????LOL

Stae of confusion????LOL, Sorry Lil Buddy, Just kidding.......

I LIVE I TOKYO CUBAN.

IN TOKYO

ANYWAY..............

I highly doubt and seriously doubt Jeffy boy will go after VY. Again, I feel in the not so distant future dolfans will be yet again be talking about the "big one that got away" while living on rations of guppy!

CUBAN,

DID YOU EVER BEEN IN A SCHOOL ?

YOUR ENGLISH IS FULL OF MISTAKES .

Aloco, I thought you said you lived in Pennsylvannia, Is That a new city there??, Is it near Philly????

The past 3-4 regimes that have come through Miami have thus far proven only one thing. When it comes to choosing qb's they much rather go after the "kibble and bits" instead of the "wagon train". Im sure this is something we all can agree upon!

YOUR ENGLISH IS FULL OF MISTAKES .

LSHIPMP.........(Laughing so hard I pooped my pants)........

The qb's we've passed on since Shula/Marino will eventually look like a who's who list in the nfl hof. LOL...

Breed, "Keeples and Bits" And "Wagon train"???, Are we talking football or what we'er feeding our pets??? ALSHIPMPA(Again laughing so hard I Pooped my pants again)......

The qb's that have been brought into Miami post Marino resembles a who's who list of employees at Burger King.

"Hold the pickles, hold the lettuce. Special order dont upset us. All we ask is that you let us have it your way!"

Leaving dolphans to always demand:

"Where's the beef!" LOL......

OK Guys, Gotta run, You all have a "FINTASTIC NITE".......

Cuban now we're talking fast food resturants. Keep up will you! LOL........

Breed, If we're talking fast food, our lil friend aloco is the guy that could tell us all about it....LOL

Why did Wendy break off her engagement with the Burger King?

"Upon finally seeing his Whopper she quickly realized he was far too big for her tiny buns!"

Being a proud member of G.O.D(Gang of defeat)(or as lil aloco would call us "GANG OF DEFEET") I'am just glad that Mando is done with vacation and is Back......Now I must go check my under garments, I think I just "Sharted" my self...........

FUNNY PICKLED POST DB.........
