The Dolphins are apparently not trying to sign tight end Zach Miller at this hour.
The Miami Herald's David J. Neal is reporting the Dolphins haven't had any discussions with Miller's agent. The team hasn't called him and he hasn't called them.
That doesn't necessarily dismiss vaguely worded tweet from ESPN's John Clayton that kinda sorta linked the Dolphins and Miller. But it does definitely quash the possibility that something is going on now.
Yes, I know. You would love the Dolphins to chase Miller. He is a stellar. He is fast. He threatens the middle of the field like no current Dolphins tight end has proven to do.
But the Dolphins have other priorities right now.
Quarterback.
Mike Pouncey.
Miller is not currently a priority.

Carson Palmer again said today he would retire before playing another year for Cincy. Things will continue to happen. Even as a Henne supporter my gut tells me we will still bring in someone else.

Look, I don't hate Chad, but last season was his coming out party, it was his team. I know some of the int's were excusable, but it was the decision making that was most troubling to me. I was where you are now, last year. Defending Henne because he showed signs of being a good QB. Sadly, I just don't believe in the guy anymore...
He had a golden opportunity last season, he blew it and I think its time to get the hook and get Orton.
Posted by: NICKM | July 30, 2011 at 08:58 PM
Well ALoco...isn't that much of the population in So FL. High unemployment, High Foreclosures, No Jobs, High gas & food prices, Absurd property taxes...that all the average working person can afford. Maybe because Henne is only getting minimum wage relates to them. Bust your but for crap pay, then the next guy who's unproven is getting 3-4 times the amount you are. EG Matt Moore. Behind CA, Fl is 2nd as the worst state economy. But I'm proud & happy to be blue collar, because God will take from the rich and give to the poor in the end. So Watch Out!!! And Yeah.. I back Henne too!!!

This fan base will give Chad 9 more years before they finally get it. Last year they blamed the coaches, this year they will blame the new offense, next year they will blame bad weather....

When the coach and recievers have to chime in to the press that the QB is showing more leadership, that means he doesn't have enough.

aloco
Do you have mint leaves? I will pee in your cup.
Posted by: carl | July 30, 2011 at 09:10 PM
Carl, if you actually listened to the guys who played football and the experts, you would hear them all say the same thing, 48 starts to make a smart decision. I base my decision on Henne not only on what football people say, but on the fact Henne's numbers are equal to or better then a lot of QBs who are or have been in this league. Nobody said give Henne 9 years, but 3 is certainly more then fair.

The Eagles are picking up FA's left and right, and Ireland can't walk and chew gum at the same time. What do you mean Mando the Dolphins have other priorities? The PRIORITY should be winning. QB looks dead, that deal was messed up. We got a washed up semi-bust who may make a play or 2, and a 3rd string QB. And the 1st and numerous -15 picks in this year's draft have signed and reported to practice, but our #15 pick is one of the only unsigned guys around.
Can anyone tell me the problem with this picture? Our FO are nimwits. They're a day late and a dollar short. It's so frustrating watching a bunch of amateurs try to do their job.

Watch Out Aloco, God hears you. You may lose everything and be on welfare & it will be all of God's doing... God does not take payments to make it to heaven, but Satan takes cash to make to to Hell. I'll know where I'll be do You???
And wait till the unemployed are flat broke and rip you off.
Go Henne!!! God is You Co-Pilot..HE will make soar like an eagle!!!!

carl.
are you saying the coach and the players are lying ????????
Posted by: ALoco | July 30, 2011 at 09:12 PM
Well bobbyd,
Stats are fine only to a point. I go bye what my eyes see. Henning aside, I look at the last 5 games last year and I saw Henne go 5 steps backwards. You know all the reasons. Until he erases that image from my mind, I will not have any confidence in him. I'm cool with giving him a last shot, but I am far from believing in him.
Posted by: carl | July 30, 2011 at 09:12 PM
ALoco: I don't consider myself a complainer, I have been a Phins fan over 30 years my friend. So please, show some respect for some of the long time fans that evaluate with an open mind...
Caps are not polite...
As for Henne, am I saying he'll never be a decent QB? No...
Am I saying this team will have better success with a different QB at the helm this season? Absolutely..
Posted by: NICKM | July 30, 2011 at 09:14 PM
carl.......... last year we had 1/7 RECORD AT HOME ,WHO'S TO BLAME ;;;;;
NOLAN OR
THE DEFENSE OR
THE HC OR
HENNE ???????????????????????????????????
Posted by: ALoco | July 30, 2011 at 09:15 PM
Carl, your right, Henne does have to prove himself this year to us. I have a problem with giving up picks and big money on any stop gap guy this year. I much prefer to use our first pick on a QB next year if Henne doesn't pan out this year. A lot can still happen in the next week.
Posted by: bobbyd12 | July 30, 2011 at 09:18 PM
NICKM, I WAS JUST HAVING FUN, I DIDN'D MEAN ANY DISRESPECT TO ALL PEOPLE INCLUDING YOU...I AM SORRY IF I DID OFFEND YOU ........
Q......... WHAT MAKES YOU HAVING THIS VIEW IN HENNE IF ALL GOOD QB'S HAD SAME ISSUES IN THEIR FIRST 2 YEARS AS HIM LIKE BREES AND MANNING ?
Posted by: ALoco | July 30, 2011 at 09:18 PM
Step into Henne's shoes for a second. He had an OC who still thought he was playing in the 60's offensively. The OL was porous,he was beyond micro managed. Hell, that would shell shock anyone. Could you do your job effectively if every move you made could lead to termination??
Posted by: muzakguy911 | July 30, 2011 at 09:21 PM
Henne will be fine. the kid had a bad season. jezz. last year he was henne the hero and now you all are a pack of wolves. can't wait til he proves you all wrong.
I am a 30 year fins fan too, so I understand the frustration.
GO DOLPHINS!!!

Mr. ALoco where has ur friend the Cuban Menace gone??
Posted by: bobbyd12 | July 30, 2011 at 09:24 PM
bobbyd I agree with your last post.
aloco they are not lying, the fact they even have to say anything shows you he was lacking in that area. Leaders are leaders from the get go, they don't learn it. Marino, Montana, Peyton, Brady, Rodgers, Favre, all had leadership from day one...never had to learn it...never needed coaches and players to tell the media oh the qb is learing to be a leader.
Posted by: carl | July 30, 2011 at 09:25 PM
STEP INTO HENNE'S SHOES FOR A MINUTE AND THINK;;;;;;
WITH MY RECORD ABOVE 500 ,IRELAND SIGN A CRAPY QB WITH MUCH WORSE RECORD FOR 5.4 MILLION FOR 2 YEARS WHILE I AM MAKING 33 DOLLARS A YEAR .
PS...THANKS MUZAKGUY911 FOR USING YOUR FIRST LINE .
Posted by: ALoco | July 30, 2011 at 09:25 PM
ALoco: I just look at the pieces that were put in Henne's hands last season. Mistakes are expected, seasoned veterans make mistakes...but "learning" from them is where I evaluate. And there were times with Henne that he just didn't learn.
Were his mistakes all his fault? No, in some combinations, it was OC's fault with play calling and predictability, some cases his WR fell, in some cases they were bad throws...
But Henne just never got any rhythm all season long. They never had a deep passing game, which told me the coaching doesn't trust him either. Everyone refers to check downs, that's because Defenses adjust but more over, paranoia in the pocket and lack of trust in his own passing ability...
The Phins basically abandoned the WildCat so Henne could run a conventional offense, it was horrible. When Carpenter is your best offensive weapon and the Head Coach is fist pumping FG's, that says all you need to hear...
Posted by: NICKM | July 30, 2011 at 09:27 PM
CARL..... (( HE WAS LACKING IN THAT AREA )) THESE ARE YOU WORDS....
IT'S NOT A THING TO BE ASHAMED OF FOR NOT HAVING A LEADERSHIP BUT HE'S LEARNING AND SHOULD BE COMMENTED FOR THAT...HE'S A REAL GOOD PERSON AND HAVE A NICE WIFE ALSO .........
Posted by: ALoco | July 30, 2011 at 09:28 PM
NICKM.... LET'S FACE IT HENNE IS THIS INDIAN ,HE'S THE INDIAN ...NO BODY SAY ANY THING ABOUT NOLAN CRAPY RECORD AT HOME OF 1-7............. AGAIN 1/7....NO ONE SAY ANY THING ABOUT CRAPY DEFENSE AND ALL WE TALK ABOUT OUR INDIAN ....HENNE .......BE FAIR .

PS... ALL THESE FAKE POSTS ABOUT COWHER,OPRA AND THE VIKINGS .
Posted by: ALoco | July 30, 2011 at 09:38 PM
aloco, my point was you are either a leader or you are not. If papa coach has to convice the media he is becoming a leader, its only to get trade value. Henne needs to show it, prove it, right now...in the first few games. I think we are going to see the same Henne. I hope he proves me wrong.
Posted by: carl | July 30, 2011 at 09:39 PM
NOW I GIVE THE FLOOR TO OTHERS TO POST,I AM DONE
Posted by: ALoco | July 30, 2011 at 09:39 PM
Our home record is really what added insult to injury. That MUST change this year. I don't think the complaints would be as loud if we had a 7-1 at home and lost the away games. Really left a bad taste in the fan's mouth
Posted by: bobbyd12 | July 30, 2011 at 09:40 PM
CARL....
IS ELY MANNING A LEADER ?
IS ARRON ROGERS A LEADER ?
IS SANCHEZ A LEADER ?
YOU CAN'T IGNORE HE HAS A TALENT BUT NEEDS SUPPORT FROM THE FANS .
Posted by: ALoco | July 30, 2011 at 09:41 PM
Manning yes
Rodgeres yes
Sanchez don't know yet
Henne no. Henne shows no interest, stands alone on the sideline, doesn't rally the troops. Plays tight.
Posted by: carl | July 30, 2011 at 09:46 PM
ALoco, didn't know anything about fake posts. I read Mando's articles but haven't been to the comments section in months.
Posted by: bobbyd12 | July 30, 2011 at 09:47 PM
eli MANNING....MY FOOT.......... THE DEFENSE IS THE LEADER OF THAT TEAM.
ROGERS IS NOT A LEADER ,HE ALWAYS STANDS NEXT TO THE OC AND WAS OUT 6 GAMES LAST YEAR.
SANCHEZ , MY FOOT.....HE ONLY EAT ON THE SIDELINE A HOT DOG .......
Posted by: ALoco | July 30, 2011 at 09:49 PM
BTW, just read a report that Fins have 4 or 5 million left on cap. Don't know if that will change when old CBA dumps on the 4th. No way that gets an Orton, who wants 9 million guaranteed. Anyone else know how the cap situation is

NO CARL... I GOT YOU POINTS BUT ELI WHO GETS HIS LUNCH FROM MOM EVERY DAY GAME ISN'T A LEADER ,THEY LET PLAY AND THE DEFENSE HANDLE THAT LEADERSHIP STUFF..........

4 or 5 Million and Pouncey not yet signed. If this is true we in tight spot

GOOD NIGHT TO ALL .
Posted by: ALoco | July 30, 2011 at 10:08 PM
My Last statement for the night...
Did we bash Marino when we lost SB XLX to the Niners...NO, we said it was his 1st SB, he'll have many more.
Did we bash Marino when we got creamed by Jacksonvile 62-7... NO.. we cried when he reired that year.
So why are we bashing Henne, I think he's better than what we've had in a while, except for Penny.
Then why aren't all you armchair GM's & coaches trying out for the team?
Answer: Your head would be pounded into the dirt by a 315lb defensive lineman and your butt would be used as a bicycle rack.
Again, would YOU want to be Henne and only getting the minimum wage??? NOT ME!!!
Posted by: muzakguy911 | July 30, 2011 at 10:17 PM
We are bashing Henne for severly underperforming. Henne was a real stink bomb for too many games. Money has nothing to do with it, you sign a contract and owe your best.
Posted by: carl | July 30, 2011 at 10:20 PM
DANSBY......... 47 MILLION............ NOT ONE INTERCEPTION..................
1-7 AT HOME .........
HENNE,,,,,,,,,,,, 500,00 A YEAE ............UPSEEN .......

Im saying this and Im done griping about Henne. His greatest problem seems to be he merely plays the qb position.
"He needs to begin playing like he "OWNS" the qb position."

armando just tweeted ((((( YOU THINK FINS WILL MAKE A RUN AT JT ))))).
NO SHAME ,,,,,,,

ALoco,
I wouldnt be against bringing JT in to back up Misi. JT may also help with his development. It would only be a 1 yr contract so it really hurts nothing at all.
Plus it allows JT and the organization to make amends and he'll assume his rightful place in the Fins Ring Of Honor.
