Davone Bess was the first Dolphins player on the field in preparation for today's scrimmage. Man's a worker for sure.
Here are some things I've be looking for:
Mike Pouncey: How will he do versus Paul Soliai.
Clyde Gates: Does his practice speed translate to a scrimmage where players are going faster.
Daniel Thomas: Is he a player only when the lights come on?
Marc Colombo: Can he protect Chad Henne?
Chad Henne: If he's checking down in scrimmages, you know that's probably what he's going to be doing in games. If he can stretch the field in scrimmage, maybe, just maybe, we can get some big plays in a game.
Jason Taylor: Does he have the quicks back as he said in my column in today's Miami Herald that he feels better than he has since 2007.
There is a live blog happening here. It's in the comments section. Meet me there.

good afternoon Armando!

Keep an eye on how Carey transitions at guard. I'm very intrigued by that. Also, put out an APB on John Jerry.

Where is Odrick going to play? Misi is starting and Odrick is not yet we drafted Misi in the 2nd and Odrick in the 1st. No spot for him I assume with Starks, Solia, and Langford

Armando,
Can you describe the type of sets you see today, whether the shot gun in used, if the offense is including screen plays, passing on 1st down at all, if you are seeing 3-5 and 7 step drops?
Just whether some of the things we have been told that the offense will evolve into are happening or not.
I'm also very interested to see if the offensive line can hold up to allow for deep passing plays.
Posted by: Oregon Dolphin fan | August 07, 2011 at 02:03 PM
DB,
Am on board with you about the O having better pieces to succeed this year especially if they don`t get to cute about over using Bush in the run game and the OL will be better than last year once Long gets back, factor in Gates and Clay helping the pass game we shoud be improved. I will however temper my enthusiasm until game 4 at the beginning of Oct. to pass judgement on Henne. I will pose this question to you and the others though if we are say 1-3 at that point do you pull the plug on the HENNE!!
Posted by: fin4life | August 07, 2011 at 02:04 PM
Armando,
Thanks for your coverage. Is there a concern with lighting on the practice field?
Posted by: just saying... | August 07, 2011 at 02:04 PM
I'm getting excited about the Thunder and Lightning backfield, and the 2 rookie receivers Gates and Clay!
Posted by: finsfan72 | August 07, 2011 at 02:04 PM
Starting O
Henne at QB
Reggie Bush & Lou Polite in backfield
LT DJ Jones, LG Carey, C Pouncey, RG Incognito, RT Colombo
Fasano TE
Marshall and Hartline at WR

Lineups subject to freaky change.
Posted by: Armando Salguero | August 07, 2011 at 02:05 PM
...Curious to see how Jimmy Wilson does today. I'm suprised(in a good way) at his success at the corner spot. I Thought he would be playing his saftey. Interesting because he couldn't crack the starting lineup @ Montana at corner. Circumstance perhaps, and Trumaine Johnson who will no doubt be playing on Sundays next year. Maybe for the Phins.....

Along with high winds. Hope it doesn't get to you People.
Posted by: oscar canosa | August 07, 2011 at 02:06 PM
Dolfandave, what I'm saying is simply this: Thomas looked really, really good in the Monday night practice at the stadium. The rest of the time? Just OK.
I'm wondering if he's a guy that turns it up when things feel more important.
Posted by: Armando Salguero | August 07, 2011 at 02:06 PM
Will Allen is not participating again today. That is not good news for a player who missed most of the last two seasons because of injury. This is his third consecutive day that he's out.
Posted by: Armando Salguero | August 07, 2011 at 02:07 PM
Other than LT that lineup is what we will see when that pats come to town
Posted by: Glass half FULL Phins Fan | August 07, 2011 at 02:07 PM
Oregon, The other day I asked Armando if it seems they are lining up in shotgun more than they did last year in practices. It seems a lot of work is being done out of gun. Last year stories were floated that Henne was uncomfortable out of the gun. Never really heard if that was true or just some Henning bs.
Posted by: The Signal | August 07, 2011 at 02:07 PM
fin4,
1-3 start and Henne can start looking for new real estate in another city.
Posted by: DyingBreed | August 07, 2011 at 02:07 PM
Incognito at RG?
Posted by: Ian | August 07, 2011 at 02:08 PM
The Signal, the shotguns stories were floated because Dan Henning said outright during a press conference that Chad Henne feels more comfortable coming out from under center than standing in shotgun.
You are correct, I've seen a lot more shotgun work this camp.
Posted by: Armando Salguero | August 07, 2011 at 02:09 PM
Armando,
Losing Will Allen shouldnt be a great deal. Im believing Nolan Carroll should be ready to man nickel this year.

Posted by: finsfan72 | August 07, 2011 at 02:10 PM
oscar canosa,
Do you live in Cuba? in Little Havana?
Posted by: Oregon Dolphin fan | August 07, 2011 at 02:10 PM
Henne can't be blamed for everything last year. It's not like anyone else from our offense lit the league up. Our running game stunk, Marshall had one of his worst receiving years, and our O-line was terrible. We can only hope our offense is better with the new OC and the new players. Let's hope Henne is a different player this year, give him a chance.

I heard that Nolan Carroll's no longer taking st's snaps. Hopefully he's being primed as our starting nickel corner.
Posted by: DyingBreed | August 07, 2011 at 02:11 PM
Incognito has been working both RG and LG. He lined up at RG setting up for drills. I'll update lineups if it is different than what I gave you at the setup.
Posted by: Armando Salguero | August 07, 2011 at 02:12 PM
Joel, if you like the other blog so well then why the hell are you here?
Posted by: Glass half FULL Phins Fan | August 07, 2011 at 02:12 PM
Jimmy Wilson should be a big help to the secondary too
Posted by: finsfan72 | August 07, 2011 at 02:13 PM
I've been reading that Henne's has been solid the last three practices is this true?
