Jason Taylor speaks plus team cuts Tim Dobbins

Jason Taylor was just introduced to the South Florida media as the Miami Dolphins', er, newest addition.

"This is home," said Taylor, wearing aqua shorts and a Dolphins shirt. "There’s a very familiar peace about being here. It fits."

This is Taylor's third stint with the Dolphins.

"I do not anticipate leaving and having to go away and come back again," Taylor said.

Taylor said he didn't really expect to return for this stint. But after the Jets called him at "10:01 AM" on Tuesday, the first day teams were allowed to speak to unrestricted free agents, he was surprised to get a text from Dolphins coach Tony Sparano about an hour later.

Then he got a call from Jeff Ireland.

And then he got comfortable with the idea of returning to the team.

"Because of the way things happened last year I thought that chapter in my life may have closed and we moved on," Taylor said.

Of the New York experience, he said, "I enjoyed it. I was open to going back this year. And if you had asked me a year ago if the Dolphins would ever have any interest, I would have said, ‘No.’ I thought the Dolphins had moved on."

Taylor will be a reserve for the Dolphins.

"I understand how old I am and how long I’ve played this game," he said. "I understand there’s a lot of miles. It’s like the old saying, I’ll scratch where it itches."

It only itches, Taylor admitted, because Bill Parcells is no longer with the Dolphins. He and Taylor didn't exactly see eye-to-eye.

"We can address the elephant in the room," Taylor said. "Do I honestly think I’d be here if Bill was here? No."

So much for that.

The Dolphins are not exactly standing still with their LB corps. They have terminated the contract of ILB Tim Dobbins and signed undrafted rookie linebacker Mark Masterson.

Dobbins had possibly gotten too expensive to keep while still playing primarily as a backup and on special teams. You pay at veteran like Taylor a $910,000 minimum salary, you have to make room for the addition.

[Update: OT Vernon Carey is not present at this evening's practice. I do not currently have a reason why.]

[Update 2: The Dolphins say Carey was simply given a night off by coach Tony Sparano for personal reasons.]

For any of you ignorant "so called fans" there last night.... in a word, STFU!

Your childish, classless booing during a "practice" shows how stupid you are. I know many were there only because it was free but stay home next time if you don't know how to act. And this includes the fat loudmouth sitting behind me!

Your an embarrassment to yourself!

Vegas Has Dolphins going 4 and 12 for the upcoming season.Everyone agree?

1 and 8 for the first 9 games then 3 and 4 for the final 7......ya....4 and 12 looks about right.

can't wait to see cammeron wake, dansby and JT terrorize brady! if we coul've only signed NAMDI, brady would have been forced to hold the ball for that critical extra second that sending the sack numbers through the roof!

jets suck

Fans have as much right to boo as they have to cheer. These players work 4 months a year and become millionaires if they last more than just a few years. They need to perform to a high standard, if not, boo them and get them replaced for ones who deserve that kind of money.

I can see why the word suck is in your name.

Armando,

Any comment on Henne after the first few practices? Does he look any better or just the same?

he blows, moore is already ahead of him.lol

hey 8:26,get used to this sound at the joe. boooooooooooooooooooooooooo
booooooooooooooooooooooooo
booooooooooooooooooooooooo!
lmao!

4-12? Uff..

Seems to me the loses are a bit too much, but again, who am I to contradict LV.

DC & I said it last week. Denver called Miami's bluff, not the other way around & Miami had ZERO leverage.

Denver did not have to release Orton, Miami had to pay the price to acquire him. They were unwilling to do what they had to or Orton was smart & refused to redo his deeal. Afterall, would you want to play in Miami these days?

Not only did Denver pay him $1.5 million, he is outperforming Teebow, which everyone KNEW would happen. This was inevitable! Miami guessed WRONG again!

Fox is a good coach. Expect him to play the best guy & that's going to be Orton. Unless Elway decides that they must play the face of the franchise. Either way, Miami is the big loser here.

The Dolphins are a laughing stock! Face it fans, that's not bad mouthing your team or being negative, it's REALITY! Sparano, Ireland & Ross need to go.

Joe, I already e-mailed Mark Cuban begging him to buy the team...Hasn't e-mailed me back yet...I think he's still dealing with a massive hangover from the Maverick's NBA title...

this is sparano and irelands 4th season with the fins; its do or die for them or it should be. the fans have a right to complain, boo or cheer. its the right of fans(who ultimately pay the bill) everywhere and a way to show their approval or displeasure with the teams performance or decision making(coach/gm). the fans want a competitive team and we debate the decisions handed down by the regime. all pro sports and fans are the same. we all have different ideas on how to "fix" the team. we arent just cheerleaders and its o.k. to question decisions. these guys make alot of money and need to be held accountable when necessary.

The GOD is on.

Wins will probably change significantly(7-9)if we can land a good QB.

Vernon Carey out - Zach Miller in !?!....Nevermind - it's probably too late.

Elway and Fox are smart guys, lots of experience. They were only interested in trading Orton at a premium price. For whatever reason, a team was willing to break the bank for Kolb but nobody was willing to do the same for Orton. Thats what they were hoping for.

greg z, I'm not a big fan of this f.o either, just like you...But if Shaun O'Hara signs, our o-line could be better. He's been a Pro Bowler 3 times. Dealt with injuries last year, that's the only issue. If he's healthy, he's one of the best centers in the NFL. Him and Pouncey would improve the interior of our line. Now if Garner can come back from his injury and play like he did 2 years ago, things could become interesting. Now I know that's a lot of "if's" but who knows...

If the Fins are any worse than 8-8 we'll see Tony on unemployment and Bill Cowher's name will start to resurface again...this time he'll get what he's asking for...complete control of all football operations.
Then Miami will be on track to being a respected franchaise again.

Just sad, really sad, and some of you call yourself... "fans". Some of you are and that is fine, but there are a lot of pousers here.

I hope Henne gets cut, traded, and flat out leaves.

the kid has talent and maybe there is a team that can help groom him, with fans that will not embarras him 4 practices into a f'n season.

And anyone can talk, mentally tough, and growing up and all that crap. Unless you played football and know what it is like, your comments mean nothing wwhen it comes to a players "mental" strength. When fans trash you like that, it can really mess with you.

Congrats to all you looser fans who boo'd our ONLY starting QB and screamed for one we may not get. You now also contributed to the possible digression of another NFL prospect that MAY have talent.

Half of our fans are as good as our management... they SUCK.

Hey Poizen, here in America we have the freedom to voice our opinions and many of us think Henne sucks and should be gone.
The boos were targeted at the front office as much as it was to Henne.
Please respect our rights to voice our displeasure over the current QB situation.

Whay the hell are you talking about freedom? No one questioned freedom you dope. I respct your opinion also, and everyone elses, but to publicly embarras the only guy on the roster who is starter worthy is just stupid.

sorry fo caling you a dope, I take it back, but there was no way im questioning freedom.

Poizen

Henne was a #2 pick. 4 year college starter, going into 4th year as a pro. How many years should it take to groom a qb like that? Support has to be earned. Going into his 4th year, he is still not blowing away a rookie udfa. Think about that. Maybe he will in preseason, we'll see, even still, it shouldn't be that way now.

His own coaching staff benched him twice last year. Tell me, how many more seasons do you want to give Henne to be groomed?

Me, I'm the eternal Optimist. I even believe in Miracles.

Simon, you have read my posts, if he is crap this year, then let him go.

No QB would have been good with this team last year, you know that as well as I do.

TEBOW SHOULD BE GONE
B.QUINN SHOULD BE GONE
BRADSHAW SHOULD BE GONE
MATT MOORE SHOULD BE GONE
HENNE SHOUD BE GONE
M.VICK SHOULD BE GONE
ROGERS SHOULD BE GONE
C.PONDER SHOULD BE GONE .................THEY ALL HAVE BAD CAMP SO FAR ........

!!! if the o-line ISN'T falling apart(ala jake long) and sparano is just hellbent on avoiding last years mess at offensive line and protecting henne(rightly so) the bulster the team and give henne weopons! take the orton money and bulster the secondary(asante or better)sign malcom floyd and the best available tight-end! and all is well.

if the o-line is falling apart then God help us!

I SEA THATT THERES NEW MEMBERSHIP HAPPENING FOR THE GANG OF DEFEAT,80% ARE NEGATIVE COMENTTS, PLAESE CONTACT DB OR CUBEN FOR YOUR MEMBERSHIP APPLACATIONS.

Poisen

Yes. So when he starts off no better than a udfa, people get concerned.

Suggesting Fans (fanatics) don't have the right to boo is ridiculous. Booing fans support their team just as much as cheering fans. Booing is the way you tell the FO you don't approve and want better. We don't get to vote like in politics, so we vote with cheers and boos.

THE WROST THING THEY DID TO HENNE IS TO START HIS MENTOR CHAD PENNE ..MY FOOT AND KEEP HIM ON THE SIDELINE ..........CHAD .P WAS THE SABATORE MENTOR .

SIMON... THE FAN WHO WENT AND BOOED HENNE ,THE DO HAVE THE RIGHT TO BOO HIM .................. ALSO THEY SHOULD HAVE BOOED MOORE AND BRADSHAW,THE HC,THE OC AND THE DC ..THEY ALL SUCKED SO FAR IN CAMP .

VERNON CARY WILL BE RELEASED SHORTLY ..............

WTH mentor, ALoco? You know, we want to win games.

If fans BOO...or CHEER....

isn't that their right....

Since booing isn't an instinct (neither is cheering....they are displays of emotion).....Its safe to say to say that the fans at practice were displaying the EMOTION which was most strongly thrust apoun them while watching actual play.....

I LOVE it.....

Enough is enough......

Its is the FO responsibility to put a product on the GOOD to EXCELLENT product on the feild.....ONE WORTHY OF CHEERS....

Its is not the responsibility of the fan to PANDER to this FO while they take OUR MONEY.....and keep us in football pergutory......

OSCAR ARE YUO APLLING FORE GANG OF DEFEAT LIKE THE REST OF THESE BROWN DONKEYS?

NO ONE QUESTIONED ANYONES RIGHTS!!!!!

Where the hell is the "the right" to boo anywhere in my comment.

My comment has to do with common snse, he is the only legit started we have.

ANY player in the NFL who has not been a superstar listens to the fans, that is HENNE. If we are hoping for something more out of him or hoping he "finds it"

Boo'ing him like that is the STUPIDEST thing to do when it is the 5th f'n practice.

If it was a game, or 3rd pre-season game,,, maybe....

please think about it.

Give Henne another 3-4 years. I promise you he will be good in a few years. It takes time to develop a QB. Have patience!

Love,

Jeff

"We're building for the future."
Jeff Ireland March 6th 2009.
I wonder what HUD Project Mr. Ireland worked with before he came to football?

Seriously Poizen

If a professional athelete can't handle fan booing, they are certainly in the wrong profession. Need to have thicker skin than a dafodil to be a pro athlete and make a high salary.

VERY INTELLIGENT POST BY KRIS ....... (( WHILE THEY TAKE OUR MONEY AND KEEP US IN FOOTBALL PERGUTORY )) .

NEW ENGLISH WORD ...PERGUTORY...........

To Those on their HIGH HORSE....who always want to challenge somebody's FAN-HOOD on here.....

I say again....why don't you take up your gripes with the FO and ownership first.....

They tried to REPLACE thier coach....Kris didn't make that decision....

They tried/are trying to REPLACE their QB...Kris didn't make that decision....

If the OWNER doesn't trust the coach.....How do you expec the FANS too.....

If the GM/COACH don't trust the QB.....how do you expect the FAN too.....

No, but if you keep on writng nonsense, we will add you to it(GOD), ALoca.

I would ask fans to direct their boo's towards the coach & FO who appear to be incompetent at this point.

What is there to really cheer about? When the FO tells you that getting a serious QB to compete with Henne was a priority & they don't succeed in accomplishing that goal, should fans cheer?

YAY

They promised a revitalized offense. They accomplish this by bringing in Reggie Bush, the OC from an offense worse than ours last year, sign Matt Moore & will rely on 2 later round draft picks who aren't even locks to make the team?

YAY!

This coach & FO know NOTHING about players except ones they landed in Dallas. Last year, Mcquistan, Procter, Berger. This year, Burnett, Columbo, Moore. year 1 Fasano, Fergusen, Ayodele.

YAY

Wake up fans, embrace REALITY.

Look at how John Beck is now starting in Washington! We will give Henne another 3-4 years to prove himself.

Love,

Jeff

OSCAR.... THAT WAS CUBAN AKA ALOCO...I WOULD NEVER INSULT THE GREAT OSCAR ,NEVER .

I have been told by Mr. Ross not to cut anyone with any ties to Michigan. Chad Henne will be our starting QB until I can replace him with another QB from Michigan.

Love,

Jeff

Haha!

Joe Schmoe, Amen brother...it's still pretty early, but so far you've got the post of the day...LOL!!

Aloco, How does one distingush between the real aloco and the fake?

Jeff....

You bring much needed comedy to this situation.....

good stuff....

Cut Sonia? Never!

Hey Joe,
We would like you to be part of our Miami Dolphins marketing efforts. We are seeking passionate fans like you. We want you to lead a "REEEEEEEEeeeeeeeeeegiiiiiiiiiiiie" chant in Sunlife Stadium. Can you do it?

Love,

Jeff

CHAD HENNE 260 THOUSAND,KALE ORTEN 10.3 MILION AND HAD A WORSE SEASON THEN HENNE.

ok, I'm gone before this Blog goes to early on the Deep end.

jeff, ask BobbyD12, he has the prized season tickets.

Simon, I addressed your last comment in my original hated email, so i'll leave it at that.

There is the other comment... "high horse fan."

when did the circus come to town?

MENT TO SAY HIS TEAM HAD A WORSE RECORD,ONLY A TRUE DONKEY WOULD WANT HIM,CHACAGO GOT RID OF HIM NOW DENVER IS DOING THE SAME.HES NO GOOD FOR THE FINSD

Hey Jeff...Just a quick question for you...If Beck is starting in Washington, why did you let him go?

Trusting a QB or not trusting a QB has nothing to do with having enough common sense to boo like idiots at the 5th practice and embarrass a guy who is OUR ONLY STARTING QB, who was the only person to organize off season workouts for him to "TRY" and get better.

BECK WILL BE BENCHED BY GAME 3 AND GROSSMAN BY GAME 7 AND THE HC WILL BE FIRED IN A FEW MONTHS.

If you want to Boo, Randy Moss, for half-assing it everywhere, I get it.

If you want to Boo channing Crowder for talking like the best and playing average, I get it.

If you want to Boo, Bill Parcels for coming here, not getting the job done a quitting on us, I get it.

If you want to Boo Dan henning for having the worst f'n offinse plan in the last milennium I get it.

But to boo and embarras a guy here, TRYING to help us get better and win, sorry I dont gt it, especially since a game has not been played yet.
