Jason Taylor speaks plus team cuts Tim Dobbins

Jason Taylor was just introduced to the South Florida media as the Miami Dolphins', er, newest addition.

"This is home," said Taylor, wearing aqua shorts and a Dolphins shirt. "There’s a very familiar peace about being here. It fits."

This is Taylor's third stint with the Dolphins.

"I do not anticipate leaving and having to go away and come back again," Taylor said.

Taylor said he didn't really expect to return for this stint. But after the Jets called him at "10:01 AM" on Tuesday, the first day teams were allowed to speak to unrestricted free agents, he was surprised to get a text from Dolphins coach Tony Sparano about an hour later.

Then he got a call from Jeff Ireland.

And then he got comfortable with the idea of returning to the team.

"Because of the way things happened last year I thought that chapter in my life may have closed and we moved on," Taylor said.

Of the New York experience, he said, "I enjoyed it. I was open to going back this year. And if you had asked me a year ago if the Dolphins would ever have any interest, I would have said, ‘No.’ I thought the Dolphins had moved on."

Taylor will be a reserve for the Dolphins.

"I understand how old I am and how long I’ve played this game," he said. "I understand there’s a lot of miles. It’s like the old saying, I’ll scratch where it itches."

It only itches, Taylor admitted, because Bill Parcells is no longer with the Dolphins. He and Taylor didn't exactly see eye-to-eye.

"We can address the elephant in the room," Taylor said. "Do I honestly think I’d be here if Bill was here? No."

So much for that.

The Dolphins are not exactly standing still with their LB corps. They have terminated the contract of ILB Tim Dobbins and signed undrafted rookie linebacker Mark Masterson.

Dobbins had possibly gotten too expensive to keep while still playing primarily as a backup and on special teams. You pay at veteran like Taylor a $910,000 minimum salary, you have to make room for the addition.

[Update: OT Vernon Carey is not present at this evening's practice. I do not currently have a reason why.]

[Update 2: The Dolphins say Carey was simply given a night off by coach Tony Sparano for personal reasons.]

JIreland, I will give you props, you have made me laugh often, good stuff.

POIZEN....GOOD POST @ 10;22 .......

THESE ARE NOT REAL FANS WHO BOO HENNE, THEY ARE MOSTLY DRUNK FANS IN STANDS AND DRUNK BLOGGERS .

I'll be so glad when the season begins and ends. This redundant b!tching about the same old thing day in and day out has gotten "very old".

JIRELAND IS THE NEW MEMBER OF REAL FUNNY BLOGGER'S FAN CLUB .

Poizen.....

Lets try this another way.....forget about the RIGHT....or lock Of RIGHT to boo if the people who took time out of their day to come support the team see a lack luster product and diplay an emotion...

lets say the words....right to this....or right to that were never used....

My question to you is this....

Are you the barometer for peoples emotions????

Were you at the practice....and did you see what they saw????

If you were....and you didn't boo.....does that mean that nobody else should?????

My point is this....

You are all worked up over something you can't control....nor should you be able to....

The fans booed for a reason....and I think that is the root of this discussion.....

Not the booing....but what caused them too boo......

If we start there...then I think we can move tward a solution....as opposed to talking in circles about rights and such....

DB.... START YOUR OWN LINE OF DEBATE BUT PLEASE NOT.....CRAZY OR ALMOST CRAZY ..........

new post

Kris I'll hit you there.

POIZENS RIGHT,BOO THE IDOITS POSTING NAGATIVE COMENTS,ILLL START FIRST BOOOOOO KRIS,FG4FPs,GREG Z, OZCAR AND THE REST OF THE DONKY BREGADE.BOOOOO

Poizen,

Just for the record, Im glad the fans booed Henne.

For one it sends him a very early personal message from the fans themselves. Two, that message will have one of 2 results:

A. It'll hasten his play
B. It'll hasten his departure

Every fan that booed are hoping it will hasten his play, not his departure. But if it doesnt hasten his play, we all hope it hastens his departure.

finsfan72,

Im glad the fans booed Henne at practice tonight. For some reason it seems the serious of which the city of Miami takes over the Dolphins just hasnt been getting thru to Henne.

No qb in fins history has been treated as Henne will be in the city of Miami if:

A. Henne doesnt very soon get his head out of his a*ss.

B. Ireland/Sparano doesnt get rid of him.

If this continues Henne wont be able to get served at Burger King until every single other customer that comes thru that door is served first. Even the bums.

@DB this has got to be the best post i have ever read on this blog LMAO!

bigt60,

Its true! The bums of Miami will recieve better treatment from the residents of Miami if Henne doesnt soon get his head out of his a*ss. Im from Miami, I know what the people are saying about him.

Henne's name is dirt and the simple mention of the name "Henne" brings a venemous reaction from everyone you speak too.

I could do more for Reggie Bush's desires than Kim ever did for him! Call me Reggie, you won't be sorry.

Hey...I also heard the fans cheer for Henne when he hit Fasano over the middle for a big gain, so there were both boos & cheers so we covered all emotions regarding Henne....

dln265=Jets Fan. Go away loser.
