Ronnie Brown to Eagles, Carey paycut story confirmed

Ronnie Brown was last seen in the stands of the Heat vs. Atlanta Hawks playoff series.

No, the man who's played in South Florida since 2005 is not a Heat fan. He was rockin' a Hawks hat. So it is kind of ironic that now Brown is joining what some are calling the NFL version of the Heat -- the Philadelphia Eagles.

The Eagles have announced that Brown has signed a one-year contract with the club. The story was broken by the Philadelphia Eagles website and their twitter handle, @EaglesInsider.

The Dolphins' feeling about this news?

I just got a text from someone with the club reacting to the signing: "Good for Ronnie ... good kid."

But, but, but,

Is it a loss for the Dolphins?

"We like our team"

Alrightie then.

On to bigger news that delves into the shadows a bit:

The Miami Herald's Barry Jackson is reporting ROT Vernon Carey has indeed been asked to take a pay cut. A source close to Carey tells him Carey was unhappy when the Dolphins made the request and he was indeed given time last night to mull the cut because the Dolphins are expected to cut him if he does not accept.

Carey, as I reported on an earlier post, was to meet with Dolphins coach Tony Sparano about this matter this afternoon. Players were off on Tuesday so that gave Carey time to think things over. But the Dolphins must be at the cap by Thursday and definitely won't want to put Carey on the field for practice Wednesday unless he accepts the cut.

Basically, if Carey is practicing Wednesday, that is an almost certain sign he took the paycut. If he is not ... well, you know. But that is not the kicker to this drama.

Want the kicker?

Jackson reports the Dolphins told Carey they needed to secure the cap savings inherent in the pay cut so they could make another move.

I texted a source to try to confirm Jackson's report from the team's point of view. No response.

brown has never done a damn thing. one 1000 yard season and barely at that. hes slow and old. good riddens, bust of a pick

Miami not going to win a championship with Chad Henne and it doesn't appear that the QB situation will get better before this season begins. We need to take our lumps and lose as many games as we can and draft a QB next year. Also, if Miami has another bad season then we will have a new HC and GM and perhaps they can make solid player decisions. I am tired of the constant wishing for a miracle that never comes.

its sad paul but true. this year will be awful but it will help this franchise by finally forcing garbage ross to fire everyone

Brown could be great....in a system where he doesn't have to carry the entire load.....and at the same time....carry the ball enough times to get in to the flow of the game....

Who can be succesful when you are rotated every series...regardless of production....

I don't thin another team in the NFL ran that high schoolish type of rotation....

Ronnie coudn't work here....but for Philly...he could be the steal of the FA

Paul, I'm with ya!

great might be over stating it a bit.....

Very solid....and very productive is more accurate I think....When a team has more than ONE option...every one looks better...

when we brought in the hired gun(parcells) we turned our beloved fins over to him to do as he wished. he brought us sparano and ireland;the 3 of them disrespected dolphin traditions and loyal players(ie jason taylor, zach thomas, matt roth to name a few). now ireland answers to no one and has made a mess of our once proud franchise. worst of all the fans have been disrespected and played for fools. the trifecta thought it was their team to do whatever they wished. times up! news item;the team belongs to the fans and we want our team back!

Unfortunately, its not just a new FO we need, but a new owner too. The team needs a real football guy type owner, not some rich dude looking for a team just for prestige and something to play with.

I dont like to hear that the fans are booing Henne at practice. Have some class, it is not his fault that those above love field goals instead of touchdowns. Please boo Ross and Ireland instead, they are the ones stupid enough to leave the Fins without a QB and RB for the season..

If I was Carey, I would welcome being cut from this circus!!!!

Check my safety target out ---Dashon Goldson

trade for Orton,
Sign Goldson--
Sign Ohara or Leonard Davis after you cut Carey if he doesnt restructure
Sign veteran TE---Bo scaife or Alge crumpler(good blocker) help run game

I like Kevin Boss, but he should get near Zach Miller money, and i dont think Ireland would have enough for him if we have Orton in sight

Zach getting 7mil a year

for the love

I FEEL

SOME THING

FOR ME OR
FOR YOU

BACALA.........SUB AND EGGPLANT /

Well, it sounds like they're clearing up some cap room for SOMEBODY! At this stage, it'll probably be someone that'll be cut on August 4th, in my opinion. Otherwise, why bother? There are rumors that another team is interested in Kyle Orton, but that may just be wishful thinking. Anyways, we'll find out soon if the Dolphins are going to make a splash in free agency. I, for one, cannot count anyone out (remember that everyone said the Brandon Marshall trade would NOT happen).

On a positive note: I'm very glad that we're "Tuna-Free Dolphins!"

FASANO WILL BE RELEASED
V.CARY WILL BE RELEASED

HARTLINE WILL BE CUT LOOSE

BACALA

JIM CRAMER IS SHOWING CHARTS OF THE STOCK MARKET AS IF THE CHART WILL TELL YOU THE FULL STORY,,,,,, FUNNY SH IT ......

I hope we don't have to give up too much for orton. Paying him is one thing but giving up high draft picks is another.

V.CAREY WILL PRACTICE TOMORROW ...AGREED TO 2.6 MILLION FOR NEXT YEAR NOT THE 7 MILLION .

Because Ronnie (RB23) Brown:

1) Did not sign with NYJ.
2) Did not sign with NE.
3) Did not sign with Buffalo.

I wish him good luck (except for 12/11/2011).

RONNIE BROWN + M.VICK= BACALA

THE GOD FATHER IS ON AMC ...........

so far so good Ireland! I love the Crowder move, and the signing of Burnett... It goes to show that this management will not rest until they find the better players... I hope they get rid of Carey as well; he's overpaid and overrated... I've always said it.. He just got lucky with his contract because it expired at a time where there were no good tackles... I'm not happy that Ronnie Brown is gone, but I don't blame this management. the move needed to be done.. I'm almost sure they're using the same philosophy with the QB position, and TE. we need to upgrade ASAP.

Ronnie Brown was a good Dolphin.

Always towed the company line.

Worst thing he ever did was get a DUI and he did and said all the right things after.

He was our Wildcat entity for without him involved, the play always seemed a lost cause.

He never complained.

He blocked admirably.

Barring injury who knows what happens as he was leading the NFL at that point. One of the few bright spots of Cameron's shipwreck of a team.

I think deep down, like Taylor, he wishes the Fins would have given him a decent offer to stay on with any role they asked.

Alas, the Eagles will get a steal of a hard worker and should contribute to their backfield mix nicely.

Thanks for the memories you did give us Ronnie B! Good luck in your new Green uni...(The good green with the wings not the pukey Jet one)

Cheers,

This is a den of drunkards and deviants!

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=j99vUST9hDw Good Stuff, dont try to rob the mob lol.

Good riddance!! Mediocre running back that couldn't stay healthy....now someone else's problem....

Ronnie Brown will be no better in Philly then he was for the Dolphins. Ronnie has some speed but he is not a Ram. He can run the wildcat and he has good hands, but so does a number of RB's in the NFL, including the four (4) RB's currently on the Dolphin roster. Brown wont be missed, that much.

Dolphins Suck! Longtime Phins fan.
