Note to everyone who is now considering Matt Moore a legitimate competitor for the Dolphins starting quarterback job:
Stop it. Just stop.
At least for now.
Dolphins coach Tony Sparano addressed the possibility today when he said he wouldn't say there is a quarterback battle right now because while Chad Henne had some issues during Friday's preseason game at Atlanta and Moore brought the team back from a deficit to help Miami win, 28-23, much has to happen for this to become a legitimate competition.
"I mean I wouldn’t say there is a battle right at this second," Sparano said. "To me it takes more than a few outings, couple practices any of those things. But I mean I thought Matt did some good things. I mean, on the surface it’s going to look like Matt did way more good things than Chad maybe, I guess to your eye but there was enough things in there to Matt’s 36 plays I believe it was that needed to be corrected as well. He did some good things, that’s the Matt I know. Matt can move the football team pretty well. He’s got a little bit of savvy to him and he can move the team, step up in the pocket and make those kind of throws. He did a nice job last night."
In other words, Henne has to seriously struggle while Moore has to seriously play sharp the final three preseason games for the coach to consider this an issue.
And so that is not where we are right now. Remember, we're talking about snapshots in time here. Today, this is not an issue. Much stuff has to change for it to become an issue.
Henne can close the door on the issue by simply playing consistently well the next two games.
But as I wrote in my column for today's newspaper, Henne was both good and bad versus the Falcons. And consistently inconsistent is not unusual for Miami's quarterback. He finished 4 of 8 for 77 yards with one TD and two interceptions. Playing against both Atlanta's starters and second-team players, Henne posted a 83.9 rating.
Moore, playing strictly against backups and guys that will not be employed by the Falcons in a month, completed 11 of 18 passes for 123 yards, with two TDs and one interception.
That's a good but not perfect outing. It's an outing that suggests Moore is locking in on Miami's backup QB job. It is not a performance that says, 'I'm better than the starter."
At least not right now.

Keep sending it kris, it still does not say four teams. But it does say two days it had been open for trade. Mentioned does not mean anything but rumors. Some have mentioned in a false post you have a small manhood. So far that is nothing but a rumor. But you do try and confirm it alot.

To those of you who say fans should support the team and turn a blind eye to reality, just take a look at the titles of todays current articles on your very own Miami Herald:
Miami Dolphins off to an ugly start
Miami Dolphins' Henne continues to frustrate us
Miami Dolphins' defense has its struggles, too

Yeah espn this blog only shows sp many posts, it's an iPhone.
Saw your post. What's your point. It's there, more than I can say for some.
But who ever you are behind that screen name it's only a blog from a guy thst scouted for Cleveland and recruited for Pittsburgh. I got the impression it was from espn sports.
So again what's your pint from a blog
I'm thinking kris equals espn.

Kris you must be espn guy too. Your confusing two different conversations.
Posted by: ltcdolphin | August 13, 2011 at 07:22 PM
We drafted Daniel Thomas over Ryan Mallet, but we'll throw it 50 times a game with Henne after drafting a RB over a QB. Something ain't right here. Shenanigans.
Posted by: ch | August 13, 2011 at 07:22 PM
Somepne mentioned Thomas was hurt last night, is that true??

All this Qb talk is getting old. It seems as though several journalists are fanning the flames just to spark a QB controversy. Chad Henne will be our starter, at least for the first part of the season, and so he deserves it.
I'm amazed at how some fans and journalists analyse and talk about QBs. They often have no idea what they are talking about.
First, you have to be patient with a qurterback. They don't just come out of college and sudenly become stars in the NFL. Those tha do are the rare breed indeed. More often than not, rushing a qb into the nfl is a recipe for disaster. All one has to do is look at all the "busts" that wer drafted over the years. A good chunk of these could have had decent careers if they were managed/coached properly. Instead, too many GMs/coaches succumb to the pressure and put there guys in to early. In addition, fans and journalists (those who don't know a thing) get impatient if the qb doesn't have success immediately.
Most qbs take 3 years to develop. Henne is now entering his fourth. He has shown flashes that he able to make plays. He has a very good arm (he can make all the throws). He's tough as nails. He also has decent decion making. On the downside: He does tend to lock onto receivers, doesn't always read the field well and has some difficulty with accuracy on the long ball. But regardelss of his past performances, the Dolphins would be wise to give him at least half a season-and I'm sure that's what Sparano and Ireland will do.
As for last night's game, it makes me laugh at all those troublemakers out there trying to stir up a qb controversy. First, it's a pre-season game, and one that was played with limited practice time die to lockout, and operating under a new offense. anybody who thinks Moore should be astarter based on this little evidence, should quit watching the nfl and stick to Madden football. Henne actually looked pretty good, in my opinion. The first pick? He all but handed the ball to Fasano. The second pick? where was Bess going? Henne could have pulled it back but Bess had a favourable matchup but blew the route. He made some nice plays to avoid a sack- Bess dropped a pretty easy one after Chad scrambled out nicely. The only bad throw he made was on the completion to Bess-the one which Bess made a great one handed catch. Had Henne not overthrown him, it could hve been a big gain. The o-line busted on a lot of blocks as well.
As for Moore? He did all right but nothing great. He missed Gates on a sure TD. His interception was brutal. He did show some moxy and made some nice reads but it's way too early to annoint him the starter.

You must be 95 years old. Have you paid attention to football in the last several years? Many first year starters have excelled. Flacco, Ryan, Bradford, Stafford, Sanchez.
Get a clue, then come back.
Posted by: Zarko | August 13, 2011 at 07:26 PM
At least they all have performed far better than Henne from their rookie year on.
You are more outdated than Sparano.
Posted by: Zarko | August 13, 2011 at 07:29 PM
Espn review/ kris. Asking someone to back up their post is not calling them a liar. Now if you had not, then that does say that.
If you are around here long enough you will find there are those that impersonate screen names and post false reports to gut hook people. If you were a liar you would be told that after it was obvious, at least by me.
Posted by: ltcdolphin | August 13, 2011 at 07:29 PM
I have never once posted other any screen name than kris.....WHY WOULD I....thats my name...and it keeps me grounded in reality....
I have no use for fake names...or post that I can't stand behind 100%......
When I am wrong...and I have been before...I come out and say it.....my main problem with you Itc...is that i expected the same from you.....and I was wrong to assume that of you.....
I understand that now.....

wow you are dense and into avoidance. asking me to back up a post is not calling me a liar. but coming out and saying my post was a hoax, which you did, is calling me a liar. hoax = lie, false report.
if you can't see that, you are in serious denial. you couldn't admit you were wrong if you said the earth was flat. got it.

I know what I saw...Matt Moore is a much better QB than Chad Henne...His control over the offense, pocket awareness, reading the field...Now having said that I don't know if being better than Henne means much...Henne just does'nt have what it takes!!!!...The Phins Front Office truly is delusional if they think otherwise!!!!...Moore gives you best chance to win.

1. An act intended to deceive or trick.
2. Something that has been established or accepted by fraudulent means.
To deceive or cheat by using a hoax.

Phinbreak, totally agree with you. One other point is Henne is learning a whole new playbook from his new OC in less than 2 weeks! Also Marshall and Bush did not play last night! Fasano to me is mire frustrating that Henne! He has bobbled bll's in the air throughout his Dolphin career that have turned in to TO's! It's a win-win situation for us as season ticket holder's and fan's! I support Henne 100% this year! If he fail's, then Ireland and Sparano are gone which is good new's with Henne. If he win's< this bandwagon town will be elading the Charge! What really had me worried was the 1st string D last night!
Posted by: ElCacheUSA | August 13, 2011 at 07:44 PM
Elcahe. They played defense as if they were in the pro bowl. The short time the starters were out there no stunts, blitzes, or anything but vanilla.

This team may go 7-9 again this year, but I like the new kids on this team, they finally have some speed at WR. There is a different feeling when it comes to that point.
Posted by: Mr.Smith | August 13, 2011 at 07:54 PM
Some people have said that Sparano/Ireland still don't understand we need a QB. I think it's a little more complex than that.
My feeling is they had some serious doubts that Henne was going to pan out by the end of last season. But they were still clinging to the belief that it could happen. So, they decided to bring in a vet.
OK fine but the problem was, there were problems or perceived problems with the QBs available.
I knew it, we all knew it. Too old, too expensive, too this, too that. Ok, I'm cool with that so, lets go get one in the draft.
And they didn't and that's the part that chaps my ass.
The end...LOL
Their mistakes were two.

TC< the one guy who REALLY worried me was Paul Solai's defense! I really thought that NOBODY could run up the middle! The Falcon's were running up his Samoan ASS last night! If he does not step up and take at least 2 lineman with him, we are DEFINITELY doomed!

SO DAMN HYPOCRITICAL IS THIS REGIME. THEY BROUGHT MOORE IN TO COMPETE TO THE DISMAY OF THE FANS BECAUSE THEY WANTED ORTON AND NOW THERE IS NO CHANCE? THIS SEASON IS GOING TO BE TOO STRESSFUL FOR ME HAVING TO DEAL WITH THE INCOMPETENCE OF THIS FRONT OFFICE...HOW BOUT THEM HURRICANES?

Henne is a turd.
Posted by: joho0 | August 13, 2011 at 08:15 PM
ALoco, it's the truth. But the fact is most including me, wanted another QB. I believe Ireland/Sparano were gambling on Palmer and they lost.
OK, but why in the name of all that's holy, why didn't they draft one? I'll tell ya...no courage-no guts. Good teams take chances.
Posted by: cocoajoe | August 13, 2011 at 08:15 PM
Dan the Man, It was one game against second and third stringers. Let's give Henne a chance to learn Daboll's offense.
