Was it a Dan Marino performance? No.
Was it a performance that proves Chad Henne is Miami's franchise quarterback? No.
Was it a good outing for Miami's starting quarterback? Absolutely.
As I wrote in my column today, Henne was more a solution than a problem in Saturday's 17-13 loss to Tampa Bay. He completed 10 of 13 passes and showed good command in the face of an angry rush. He found Brandon Marshall. He showed trust in Marshall. He got to the middle of the field with Anthony Fasano. He was accurate.
But there is more that must be done. Henne knows this. The Patriots are coming to town. They are going to watch the job the Miami offensive line did last night and believe themselves capable of getting after Henne. And they are going to attack the Miami defense and force Henne to keep up.
As I told you last week, the Dolphins need to turn up the tempo. Last night, Henne talked about, guess what, turning up the tempo. He also discussed his ability to audible. Last year he had a chance to audible at the line on 'check with me plays," meaning he could pick from one play or another.
Now he can pick just about any play.
He also discusses here how far along he feels he's progressed as a leader.

Barry Sanders was probably the greatest escape artist rb of all time. You could hold him to 40yds rushing for 3 3/4's of the game then he pops the 60yarder to go over 100yds for the game.
There's only been one Barry Sanders in this game. Even he couldnt run behind a poor run blocking oline. He just had the never before seen knack to break a big one no other back before nor since has had that ran behind a poor blocking oline.
But according to a certain idiot(s) Thomas is now a preseason bust becuase he isnt Barry Sanders. Will someone please tell the idiots we knew he wasnt Barry Sanders when we drafted him. Even the great rb's dont show thier true greatness until getting to the 2nd level.
With poor run blocking lastnight we didnt need a great rb. We needed a mechanical bulldozer! LOL...

Had Barry Sanders played behind a oline like our 72 Dolphins instead of those awful Lions olines. He easily rushes for 15,000yds and that's at the point of his early retirement.
If a rb is consistenly choosing the wrong hole or not hitting the hole on time. Then he's a bust. Dumba*sses, a rb isnt a bust just because he's getting terrible blocking! LOL...

Barring serious injury to key personel, I expect a very strong 2011 Fins finish. By this time there should be much improved cohesion on the oline, with Henne, and the run game.
The D should be fine and I surely hope st's doesnt rear an ugly head this season. Barring injury as I have stated, the Fins should be in a playoff conversation. Whether we make it or not depends on the 1st 8 games win-loss record.
IMO a 5-3 1st half season record gets us in. I really look for this team to get stronger as the season grows longer and nearer to the end.
