Wednesday afternoon potpourri of notes

Remember I told you a couple of weeks ago the Dolphins had a competition for the starting wide reciever job opposite Brandon Marshall?

They still have a competition going for that starting wide receiver job. I asked coach Tony Sparano today if he had decided on the winner of the competition yet.

"Not yet, no, yeah, to me, it’s still open with, you know, that group of there, you know, that’s there and, you know, we’re going to play them a lot in the next couple of weeks," Sparano said. "We're going to play them a bunch this week, as much as we can play them and get a couple of guys up in the rotation this week, but you know, they’re going to play all those guys a lot in the next two weeks.”

The players vying for that starting job are Brian Hartline, Davone Bess and Clyde Gates.

---------------------------

The pressure is mounting on Will Allen to get on the field the remainder of this preseason and perform. He probably has to do it this week and next week without an injury setback to make the team. Oh yeah, playing well would also help.

“I tell the team this all the time: It’s a show me game, at some point I have to see it," Sparano said. "I got to see it on the practice field. I got to see it in the game. It took me two days out here with JT (Jason Taylor) to figure out once he got here in pads it took me two days to figure out he’s still got it.

"So now I can control his practice pace. You know JT didn’t work yesterday and I can go to JT and say you’re down today.  I’ve already seen it … I know it.  I kind of know what this guy needs to get ready to play.  He knows what he needs to get ready to play. In Will's case particularly, and Will wouldn’t be upset with me for saying this, it's just I need to see it and more importantly Will needs to see it.

"He needs to know that he can go into the game and he can do this at the rate that Will was able to do.  I give Will, I give him a lot of benefit of the doubts if you will because he’s a smart player, really smart player, probably the smartest guy I have back there and I’ve seen him do it a couple years back.  But not having him last year and really limited a little bit prior to that -- that has been a long period of time that passes.  We just need to see these guys do it at a high level.  He’s had a couple good days out here right now in a row so I’m hoping to be able to get him to the game and be able to put him in those positions."

Look for Allen Saturday against Tampa Bay.

--------------------------------

I told you a while back that Reggie Bush is a monster when it comes to working.

The Dolphins go through their walk-thru and he's there and then comes the two-hour practice and he's there and then the practice is over ... and he's still there!

Today, like most, was a 30-minute session for Bush post-practice. He was the last guy off the field.

He ran sprints by himself. Then he went over to the JUGS machine and standing a mere seven yards from the thing and caught passes slung at him at 22 MPH. By the way, when most receivers catch from the JUGS they stand 12-14 yards away. So try the closer distance sometime without breaking your nose or dislocating a finger.

Afterward, Bush jogged over to the blocking sleds and pushed them around for about 10 minutes.

The man's work ethic is beyond reproach so far. But don't believe me. Check out the video I took.

Thought this was interesting and decided to post it for anyone who may not have read the interview.

But in an interview with Yahoo!'s Jason Cole, Sparano said one of the major changes he made to this Dolphins team over the off-season was with himself.

"The people that I worked for before, [low-risk play-calling is] how they approached it,” said Sparano. “Nevertheless, this game has really changed and it has really changed in our division. If you don’t score points in our division, you’re going to have a hard time winning football games. So we have to do a better job of generating big plays, generating more scores and even though we feel like we have one of the best defenses in the league, we’d like them to play a little less.

“I spent a lot of time looking at myself in the mirror, knowing that I need to make the change. Obviously, three-quarters of my staff on offense is new [headed by new offensive coordinator Brian Daboll]. That’s something that I felt we had to do. I feel like Brian’s style is more aggressive … [But] it started with me with big plays and how hard we had to work to advance the ball down field in the past. That’s where I had to look at myself and say, ‘I’m the CEO of the football part of it. If I see it broke, I have to fix it and it has to start with me.’ We couldn’t crawl down the field anymore.”

dusty@5.40

history shows just about everything can happen it also shows that teams that went 7-9 the season before have gone won the sb, now i'm not claimimg we're gonna do that, but just coz henne and daboll haven't got a history of winning doesn't mean they can't create one, and lets face it the 2011 fins do not just consist of henne and daboll

yup we'll just have to wait

but the certainty with which u post is built on sand

Why did it take Sparano 4 years to realize what every fan realized in 4 minutes?

LouD sporano said that? He actually said something coherent? Or did the reporter translate what he said?

LouD.. I did read that and I maybe now since almost being replaced he will get that good and great NFL teams go out there to win and not just try not to lose by kicking field goals. Hopefully this is a turn around in philosophy that we need to win!

Cause when ever I hear him speak I think to my self that I would rather be getting my teeth pulled!!! Lol go phins!

Odinseye-

I first heard about NAMBLA on the Ron & Ron radio show. I thought it was a joke at first, but it's real. I guess you found it...

REX-

It's pretty easy to tell when the fake RRBM is posting. Thanks again for the laugh.

Odin just found out about NAMBLA....LOL

Finsfan,
That's real? Ya gotta be s

Lou,

Good post(as usual).

It goes back to last year. After seeing some of HenningS more questionable series of playcalling, the camera would flash right to SpOrano.

I swear to God I read his mind more than few times.

You could see it in his face, he was thinking:

WTF is Danosaur doing to MY football team.

I said it for YEARS! The firing of HenningS and the hiring of anybody, ALONE, would be a major upgrade for our offense.

It Tony awhile(I think it was Parcell's "shadow")but at least he's STARTING to "Get It"!

FIST PUMP!!!!

loud , good post - though i mentioned this earlier on previous blog, cue repost police arrest-dc - thanks for the pointer,

have said all off season that imo too early to judge both ts and ji, the only reasons to give ts more time was that we were 1-15 with very little on the roster and then went 11-5, however lucky that was they still deserved time to build a team that could compete at the highest level for many years and that takes time, they've made plenty of mistakes but are both young/inexperienced in their roles and the bp factor in where they got to style and players wise is hard to gage. sure 7-9,7-9 is not improvement from a results perspective (which IS all important)but the team has a lot of young good players on it so imo has continued to improve

my initial reaction top lj was oh no but this could be a succesful acquisition at little cost, one that belichick would be praised for if it worked and go unnoticed if it didnt

most importantly people need to be given a chance to learn from their mistakes, its how all the best get better at what they do, ts needs that opportunity, he has made a lot of mistakes so can learn alot, this (moving away from ground and pound billosophy) is one massive thing for him to realise (maybe too late) and many (incl u)will say he should have learned ages ago

his pr skills r diabolical but he might just make a great hc yet, unpleasant experience can be hard earned but can be hugely beneficial

again as i've said before if he gets us to 9-7 this season he should get another, 8-8 and he's gone but don't bet on him geting another hc job if he's 7-9/8-8 if he's worse than that no more hc jobs for him

if lj has the right attitude and performs ts and ji will have toget the kudos for this move, IF

ts is like henne, he was bp's yes man to hennes hennings yes man, doing as they were told, shackled, ts was in bp's mold on style and acquisitions i bet he played second fiddle to hennings playcalls and wouldnt override during games because bp told him not to, ts is in p conference now saying that this bunch of coaches is the best he's been around, no kidding he's prob glad to be working with guys with enthusiasm and who also HAVE to prove themselves, unlike hennings and bp

he's realised his errors/ been released from the constraints of his own and others makings that he had when he came, prob too late and although originally bp's yesman ts could still find his own way of doing things and may yet take this franchise back to where it belongs, many r gonna think i'm nuts and i probably am but the way i see it is that ts is developing as a coach

major weakness's -pr, o-line evaluation (supposed strength but if he can sort out being a hc this could be done by someone else), game management

sounds like he's up for the challenge but how long will he last? needs to win, needs henne to save him

Odinseye,
Jugs to the face, Bush injured... Lol I haven't had that good of a laugh in a bit of time thanks...

cue overly long post and repost police!

LouD @5:55-

WOW! I can't believe that speech by Tony Sparano-

First, it is way too coherent. Second, welcome to the party, Tony. Better late than never.

Go Fins!

cue wolf is mad and a fo a@@s licker police

Yes Great-

Apparently NAMBLA is all too real....

I wonder how Armando came up with the volocity of, "22 mph". The Jugs machine was spitting the football across 7 yards in less than a tenth of a second. Heck, one football Bush didn't snatch out of air went thirty yards downfield after hitting his hands.

Bush not only has a wicked work ethic, but he is truly gifted with extrodinary reflexes.

Now, here's a message to the trolls: Please don't crank up the yapping for us to trade up for a Jug Machine to replace Henne...

I know you dumba$$es crawl out of caves to come here.

Mark my words, turnovers will go way up this year with KnuckleHead trying to be a gunslinger. Henne will be Farve without the td's.

oh no the wolf did a double repost repost

nuts, somebody shoot me now

Finsfan,
That's scary I'm glad I'm not of the age to be molested by some crazy wacko...

Marooooned hahaha, mispelled your name! Changing it too much yes?

U B A multiple personality here. Get lost creep.

I Love to see Bush Play for a entire season uninjured, He Can run like the wind.

Yeah but they don't call it molesting- It's man/boy love, and they don't understand why everybody attacks them for it.

N this bush is a beast I just hope it doesn't come across a weed whacker or hedge trimmer... Cause I love me some bush.. ( I don't think that pun will ever get old)

good to see u posting again scooby

I bet u some of of these wackos on here are senior members... Lol

Now if they can get a RB with the last name Of Dick that would be crazy funny.

Carter, I'm right here, man.

Yes. Hurricane Irene has been steered away from Florida and the Carolinas

The main target for the New World Order is New York and Boston.

They will both take a big hit.

Remember NostraHomeUs told u the skys will be littered with flying shards of glass in New York City

We are talking Manhattan. This is going to be a big hit to the high rise buildings & the financial district

U were Warned

The End Is Near

This will be a Disaster Of Biblical Proportion

After ripping up the north eastern coastal cities and devastating New York City,
Hurricane Irene will destroy Boston!

Not sure
Where the Patriots will play or if they will be willing to play after the devastation

God Bless U All

I am always here just don't always post I'll try to post more often... (I read every day) can't get enough of my phins =)

Here's the problem as I see it grreatdane. I think that most of the stuff that we read in here and at the Sentinel are questions being asked after practice or standing in a hallway etc. I know people like Tony, he probably has a million things swimming around in his head
(about the team not to mention he literally works 20 hours a day 7 days a week) and when he answers he has trouble focusing because to him, the questions are probably draining and redundant. I've heard him speak (at a fund raiser in CT. and he was perfectly well spoken. I also think that the Cole interview was a phone interview he did while Tony was home. So that could be what's going on.

I don't really care about how he speaks. Has anyone ever watched Bellichick address the media? SNORE. So that proves if Tony actually starts winning with the team the nit picking over small things like this will stop. All of the sudden the annoying things he does will become endearing and we will all be behind him.

AMEN LouD-

If he starts winning we won't care how he speaks, no doubt!

Guys,If you have trouble understand what Sparono says just go To Google translator, They have every known langauge on it, I am sure they have a "Sparonise" Language in there.

FINALLY HOME;THANK YOU FOR RESPONDING!I WILL WARN MY UNCLE AND HIS WIFE IN KIDS IN MANHATTAN.I THEN WILL WARN MY BEST COLLEGE BUDDY,WHO WORKS AT JOHN HANCOCK INSURANCE IN BOSTON.I APPRECIATE YOUR WORK AND WARNINGS HOME.NOW WHEN IS THE NEXT EARTHQUAKE GOING TO HIT THE USA?HOW SERIOUS WILL IT BE?PLEASE RESPOND!

LouD,
I actually kinda like sporano I feel he has been given the short end of the stick. I feel (other than the o-line predicament (which had a lot to do with injurys last year) ) he has not been doing to bad concedered he was an o-line coach before and was thrown to the fire most people at least have been a o-cordinator before making the jump to head coach so yea I would expect a learning curve but when he is asked questions he isn't prepared for he babbles... I just wanna say coach take a breath think what ya wanna say n say it... Lol... All in all I think we really haven't done to terrible with rookies in gm coach n henne tha past three years... They were all learning... Hopefully that light switch has been flipped for them!

HOME WAS RIGHT!IT'S ALL EARTHQUAKES AND HURRICANES MADE BY THE NEW WORLD ORDER AND HAARP.WE ARE SCREWED.WE SHOULD HAVE HAD HOME ON THE NATIONAL NEWS, WARNING PEOPLE!HOME SPEAKS THE TRUTH!HE TOLD US LAST YEAR NEW YORK WILL BE A DIRECT HIT OF A MAJOR HURRICANE IN 2011!DON'T YOU PEOPLE LISTEN!

Not yet, no, yeah, to me, it’s still open with, you know, that group of there, you know, that’s there and, you know, we’re going to play them a lot in the next couple of weeks," Sparano said. "We're going to play them a bunch this week, as much as we can play them and get a couple of guys up in the rotation this week, but you know, they’re going to play all those guys a lot in the next two weeks

Yeah this is a little hard to Dicipher, Maybe NASA could help us, They have a "Super Computer" you know.

LONG ISLAND WILL BE DESTROYED!HOME GET ON CNN AND WARN THE PEOPLE!

Kris,

No, it is I, GulfDolphin aka Marooned...

Make no mistake, I have posted that fact several times in the past, including writing Armando at his email address just to inform him of this. He acknowledged.

I will also remind you (again) that over the past 9 months, I have never ever used the Gulf/Marooned poster names to debate one another as though the two were coloborating.

Please understand, I have 4 computers within my mansion. Depending upon where I sit, either I am Gulf or Marooned.

Go get laid or something...

Plus that working with the dinosaur henning and parsellout really must have been hard working with their outta date s$

No, it is I, GulfDolphin aka Marooned...

Lima, Peru (CNN) -- A HAARP 7.0-magnitude earthquake struck northern Peru on Wednesday

Carter,

It was too funny.

I have two underground tanks, two generators, stocklpiled canned goods, various native jerky's and ammo. Me and my "Friends" call it "Sitting on GO".

As interesting as all that is, I come HERE for jokcular humor and Dolphin news.

Thanks for the warnings and all, but most of us have access to the same information you do. What they choose to do with it is up to them.

Let's just have a good time and talk Dolphins Football :)

Odin, Do you have Beer and Whiskey stored too?

SO YOU THINK YOU ARE GOOD FOR A COUPLE MONTHS CHEWIN ON JERKY AND DRINKIN WARM BEER, YA IGNORANT HILLBILLY!TALK TO ME SUNDAY.AINT GONNA BE NO MORE DANG FOOTBALL1

Mando,

You don't like Henne. You don't like the Larry Johnson signing. You don't like Daniel Thomas. You don't like this, you don't like thay.
So, other than your man-crush on Jason Taylor, who do you like on the team? It seems that you hate everything and everyone! Having read the majority of your posts over the last few years, I find that most of them are very, very negative about the Dolphins in every way!
Can you start trying to report some good news for a change? In other words, stop being like all of the other media idiots and stop trying to find something controversial to stir up. If you'll look, you'll see that a lot of good things are happening to this team. If you want to be depressing, go write for the Carolina Panthers or something. Geeze!

Odin, Do you have Beer and Whiskey stored too?

Well, actually that was the plan, but reserves always seem to be runnin low.

Amen Tracy, Also LMAO Over his "Man Love" For Jason Taylor.

The SKY is falling, the SKY is falling, SQUAWWWWWWWWWWWWWK!!!!

Gitter DONE!!!!

ROTFLMAO!

I Wonder if Mrs Amondo gets jealous over Mando's Man Love for Taylor?

AMEN INDEED!

Somebody else posted on it recently and it'a FACT.

We read about most of the QB's in league running unofficial practices.

If you get your news from Armando, you wouldn't had a clue Henne was doing the same.

Tracy474, I'll echo your comments. However, I made this point yesterday and I've seen DB talk about it too, bad news sells. Mando's the pied piper and everyone follows suit with his negative comments. It's more fun to be part of the 'in-crowd' than to look at things objectively and have a mind of your own. Nobody's enjoyed the fact that this team has been down for a while but when people only want to talk about the negatives and not have any hope it makes me wonder why they are even fans to start with. Like what do some of these people even have to be hopeful for? Go to Church or something on Sunday and at least do something constructive, rather than bash the team all the time.

Then Again wasnt Mando on Vacation for 2 months?

Yeah Kris,

Another typo. Power surge a day ago, and had to reboot the computers. And yes, I had to re-enter my poster name in the imfooormation blocks.

Seems the "O" key is very sensitive.

But hell, I probably didn't need to tell you that 'cause a self annointed genious like you likely figured it ooout already.

Shouldn't that be Henne??? The guy is a joke when a hybrid running back works harder than him. Henne you SUCK!!!

Sean Payton's misuse of Reggie's talent does not a hybrid make.
