« Fins next move: Gotta be a QB, right? | Main | Dolphins weigh Edwards, like their guys more »

Wednesday morn: Live practice blog here

Dang, it's hot, The Miami Herald has learned.

Here's other things the Herald has learned. Agent David Canter said on my radio show, Armando and the Amigo this morning, that the club has had zero contact with him about getting Paul Soliai signed to a longterm deal. Soliai, who counts $12-plus on Miami's salary cap, is a prime target for helping lower that cap hit if the team were to find enough confidence to get him signed longterm.

More on the salary cap front, RT Vernon Carey is here. That is an almost certain sign he accepted a pay cut. If he's not, well, you know that doesn't bode well.

The Dolphins are working at 11 a.m. today. It is one day before the team is completely on the field in that Miami has upwards of a dozen players who are not yet allowed to practice based on the fact they were either traded to the team and signed new contracts or were signed as free agents.

Believe it or not the Dolphins defense, which normally wears aqua jerseys in practice, is wearing orange jerseys. The offense is in its traditional white.

I'm wearing shorts. I'm also headed to the comments section for the live practice blog. See you there.

Anyway, the

Reggie Bush is one such player. He switched numbers today, giving Matt Moore the No. 8 he was wearing lately and taking No. 4 instead. Bush will not wear No. 8 or 4 anyway. He's a RB and those are not allowed.

Marc Colombo will wear No. 71 and DJ Jones is wearing No. 65.

Hearing more and more Palmer talk on blogs/tweets etc, Armando, what do you think, possible?

Someone heard on the radio that O'Hara had signed...Can you confirm Armando?

Maybe the Fins can sign Ryan Leaf or Heath Shuler to push for Henne's job...

heck throw Danny Marino some shoulder pads.. bet he'll get the starting job - even at his age...

Clyde Gates just juked the junk outta Benny Sapp for a 1-on-1 win from the 5 yard line.

BRANDSHAW IS NO GOOD ,BAD THROW .

PAT DEVLIN IS NO GOOD ,BAD THROW .

OOOOOOOOOOr maybe the Fins can waste another 2nd round pick on a QB like they have so many times in recent years to waste another year of our fandom...

Anyone truely believe Reggie Bush is suddenly going to be a good every down back?

Cincy lost CB Jonathan Joseph - any chance they would take Sean Smith for Carson Palmer?

Would mike brown accept Phillip Merling and a 3rd for Carson Palmer?

POUNCY @ CENTER TODAY .

Nic, all things considered: Devlin.

Posted by: Armando Salguero

Wow.

DJ Jones is also working at RT.

How does Daniel Thomas look?

Not sure why i'm so pessimistic.. it's not like it's been over 30 years since the Fins won a super bowl.. over a decade since the last stable QB..

Armando

We heard from Bess and others saying how improved Henne became in the offseason, leadership, yadayadayada....

Do you see a new, improved Henne, or the same ol' Henne?

I'm starting to feel like my brother back in the day - He is a Saints fan..................

Who the hell is DJ Jones??

Thanks for the info ALoco, apparently Armando doesn't like answering me.

JACK LONG WILL BE OUT AT LEAST UNTIN GAME 8 NEXT SEASON.

Marc Colombo is on the field but not allowed to work. He's standing off to the side by himself and taking personal reps -- dropping, shuffling when the ball is snapped.

Mando, how does Will Allen look? Is he back up to speed, no signs of injury?

Also, how do our young corners look (Davis and Smith)? Is Smith practicing with the first team? Or is Nolan Carroll?

MISI IS ON ST TODAY .......

A turtle could juke out Benny Sapp, seriously. He can't cover a rock.

I'm sure glad the coach likes this team.. i mean what is he going to say.. "the team sucks"???

I doubt it... i think Ross needs to start looking at a new FO... and stop asking J-Lo for advice...

Pouncey is indeed first team center.

Also, Mando, can you tell ANYTHING about the offensive strategy in practice? New formations, new routes, more usage of TE or backs? Does Henne seem to know the offense (he should)?

@ Evin..no one ever said he was going to be the everydown back...why do so many people say that....

DC.

WILL ALLEN LOOKS GOOD .HE HAD 2 PICKS OF DEVLIN AND BRANDSHAW OUR BEAUTIFUL QB'S .

Does Brandstater look like he has anything or will he be a potential cut, he looks like he has bounced around from practice sqaud to practice squad.

Thanks ALoco, but wondering if that's Allen looking good or playing against high school-caliber QBs?

@ Evin apparently knows everything.. he said Palmer is who the Fins are after and the Bengals are going to trade him because of the pressure on Brown.. lol he has sources..

TAKE THE CAPS LOCK BUTTON OFF!

Simon Says, 11:48AM, no doubt. I think Soliai could juke the junk out of Sapp...

If Devlin opens as the starting QB then Ireland's plan was a mess becasue if they were planning on having a rookie start they could have drafted one in the first two rounds and instead of a UDFA.

So If Henne blows up that bad then all of them should be fired because their plan was totally wrong at the most important position on the field.

What is wrong with Henne??? I mean he was not terrible in some games over the last two years yet now he looks like he has lost the ability to throw the ball to WR's running against air.

BASED ON PRACTICE TODAY SO FAR ...... CONSIDER BRANDSHAW GONE .

Aloco, Jake Long will not miss up to the 8th game this year. You dont know what your talking about.

Armando, whats the word on shaun o'hara?

I ask because I heard that was a condition to him signing with the 'Phins. Even Bush said it on his interview on the NFL channel. Peronally I would line him up in the slot predominently and get an established back incase our rookie doesn't cut it.

Sapp is a pretty good player. Good depth at nickel and corner. Get a grip folks.

DC

That is the fake Aloco reporting! Its just nonsense. Don't buy it.

lol

Jeff Darlington - Long is swinging massive ropes around like it hopscotch, tossing huge medicine balls like they're tennis balls. Like a fictional giant.

Does Sapp even have Junk to Juke?

sorry... I know useless post.

LONG LOOKS REAL BAD ....

Mando,
How is Brandon Marshall looking?

Bog

Sapp is about as bad in coverage as it gets. His stats with GB, %70 of the passes against him were completed. Nobody is worse than Sapp in coverage.

Mando, as always, my same question...

Henne looking a little more on/better today?

Armando, in your opinion do youthink they are freeing up cap space to pick up a QB or # 2 wideout to go with Marshall and Bess? I hope ii is rrom for a playmaker and not to add more to d or o line!!!

LONG'S INJURY LOOKS BIG,I DON'T SEE HIM UNTIL WEEK 7 OR 8 STARTING

Today's Phins camp about to be on NFL Network

Evin, I didn't see the interview, but everything I've read (not saying it's gospel) indicates he wil get 5-8 pure carries a game, who nows what he'll get coming out of the backfield on pass plays...

Simon Says, he played for Minny not GB and I like what I saw of him in nickel and dime last year.

Should Miami sign back Rehaldo Hill for safety? Worked with Nolan in Denver I believe and is familiar to us

Aloco does not live in Florida, so ignore all the bogus game update posts.

i think the next 2 or 3 moves the FO will make for now is. Shaun O'Hara and Braylon Edwards. Maybe Kevin Smith or Steve Slaton

D.TOMHAS LOOKS SLOW .

O-Line in flux again and the offense is circling the drain!!

Where is Mando?

Sorry about the delay. Was talking to Nat Moore.

He says Miami WRs (except for Bess) running their routes too fast close in. Need to take time to let play develop.

JD you guessing on those moves? I hope we sign O'Hara, I do not see the need for fit for Braylon, is he better than Hartline? That is debatable!
