... Then the other shoe drops on roster-churn Tuesday

Yes, Igor Olshansky fills the need at DE. But what about the defensive back discussed in the last post?

Re-enter Nate Jones.

The Dolphins have signed Jones, who played on the team from 2008-2009, to fill that spot. Jones was cut by Denver earlier this season.

His addition is interesting because it speaks to the uncertainty the team has over the hamstring injury to cornerback Vontae Davis.

If Davis cannot play against Cleveland, the Dolphins will pick among Will Allen or Nolan Carroll as the starter. And then they'll decide whom to play at nickel between the Carroll-Allen non-starter and Jones.

To make room for all of today's predictable moves, the Dolphins cut both Larry Johnson and TE Dante Rosario.

So in summary: Add Nate Jones and Igor Olshansky. Delete Larry Johnson and Dante Rosario from your collective minds. All of the additions are patchwork meant to fill in holes. This isn't make-the-team-better stuff. This is more let's-not-let-the-team-get-worse stuff.

Onward to Wednesday's start of weekly preparations.

Jason Trusnick 3 holding penalties in the first 2 games ..Terrible field position!

This fo seems to be really blessed. It must be nice to rake in so much money being absolutely terrible at your jobs. LOL...

BLACKEROTE,

It nearly always seem the player they bring in to replace a bad player plays worse than the player he replaced. Im serious!

This shows u how stupid they are ..in the Dallas last preseason game...The WR from the Cowboys Dwayne Harris the rookie made a great move in the middle of the field on a return than AJ Edds was the only one who came flying to tackle him or he would have been gone..And they say he couldn't play ST!

This dumbass fo has to take 3 steps backward to move one step forward. That's how the buffalo Bills have now surpassed us.

Guys,

The bitterest pill of all to swallow is the reality that the Buffalo Bills are now a better team than us. Never thought in my lifetime I ever see the Fins as the absolute worst team in the afc east!

BILLS....2-0
DET............. 2-0
WAS................ 2-0

MIAMI//////////////// 0-2

At the end of the season Ross needs to sell the team and the new owner give these idiots thier walking papers!

I'm with shaggy-Jesus Christ, what a bunch of negative doomsday a holes. Take a hike back to Dnepropetrovsk!!

We are under dogs again next week, what a surprise. I think LV has us as underdogs until 2013.

This year's 0-2 has a worse feel than 0-2 when Chad Pennington was qb!

db...... DO YOU REMEMBER WHEN JEFF IRELAND SAID (( THE MIAMI DOLPHINS WIKK BE FAST SMART AND STRIKE WITH THE SPEED OF LIGHTING ))..........

BUFFET OF KNOWLEDGE ..............

WILL BE FAST

If we cant beat the Brown-dump say hello to an 0-8 midseason! LOL...

ALoco,

First Ireland needs to learn what a smart player looks like so he can put him on the field. Better yet we need an owner who knows what a smart gm and hc is! LOL...

We've now become the doormat for the afc east teams that once upon a time used to be our doormat!

Take a hike back to Dnepropetrovsk!!

Oh yes, according to Igor it's a lovely place!

I do believe he said it's his home town.

To build comraderie amongst the players during the bye week, SpOrano is flying the whole team there for one of their dazzling Russian Plays.

I guess in 30yrs we'll return to glory. It would make a nice checking out present before I move on to the nether world! LOL...

Fitzpatrick is playing well. Well enough to win. Sanchez never plays well enough to win but they still win. Helps when you have coaches that know what they are doing.

DB.......... I LIKE TO PAY MY RESPECT TO YOU AND YOUR KNOWLEDGE OD EVERY THING FOOTBALL ,ALSO I AM PAYING MY RESPECT TO YOUR FAMILY AND YOUR KIDS IF YOU HAVE ANY.I HAVE LEARNED A LOT FROM YOU IN LAST 12 MONTH ...............................

WE R NOW IN THE CELLAR OF THE NFL ,THANK YOU TS,IRELAND,MIKE NOLAN ...........................

Gentlemens,

when I was growing up, back in the day, dammit we were rough and tough. We sucked it up and kept on going. None of this mealy-mouthed pansy-ish whining and moaning for us. No Siree!

So come on me frail buckeroos, stop acting like a bunch of sappy whoores and pull your socks up and pull your thumbs out of yer collective arses. Let's win one for Mr. Ross!

Guys,

The bitterest pill of all to swallow is the reality that the Buffalo Bills are now a better team than us. Never thought in my lifetime I ever see the Fins as the absolute worst team in the afc east!

And to add salt to our wound...Chan Gaily and Dave Wannstache (remember them?) are running the Bills.

cosmodo................ are you saying wannstashe is a better dc than our star the honorable ,mike nolan the great ?

Mickey Rooney,

It isnt all bad, Im very optimistic we'll return to glory in about 30yrs. Hell, the Detroit Lions are a good team now. I didnt think I'ld ever live to see that!

LOL.........................................................

Every bad team Ive seen in my lifetime have now at some point become a good team. All that was lacking were the Detroit Lions.

The end of the world is very near folks! LOL...

Be patient dolfans. Steven Ross wont own the team forever. Isnt he close to 80yrs old right now?

LOL.....................................................

Isn't ohlansky a hockey player?

Tell you guys the truth, I never thought the Bengals would reach a SB in my lifetime!

In the 70's if you would have said the 49ers would win 5 SB's and become one of the greatest teams ever. You would have been immediately declared legally insane! LOL...

I don't care how stupid you people think I am!!

db... LET US LAUGH FOR YOU,NO NEED TO END EVERY POST W/LOL

Maybe in 30yrs we'll have rockem sockem robots on the field playing football. Just hope the ones with the Dolphins insignia can knock the opposing team's robot block off!

LOL.............................................................

GN All. Im Out!

P.S. ALoco I leave you with this:

LOL LOL LOL LOL LOL LOL LOL LOL LOL LOL LOL LOL LOL LOL LOL LOL LOL LOL LOL LOL LOL LOL LOL LOL LOL LOL LOL LOL LOL LOL LOL LOL LOL LOL LOL LOL LOL LOL LOL LOL LOL LOL LOL LOL LOL LOL LOL LOL............................

This plan. I have this plan. Dallas Cowboys' rejects are my plan. We will win with my plan - you see, we have to b/c I told my buddy Stephen, that we have the talent to win now. If Sparano can't win with my plan, then I will ship him back to Dallas. Of course, because of my sheer brilliance I would insist upon compensation, like their latest reject. Stay true, stay real Dolfans! We will win with my Plan.

Yes yes yes yes Toney. Jeff just put the final nail in their coffin....these two clowns are a bunch of idiots and continue to sign Cowboy rejects I can wait And. If we continue to loose than the better chance of getting a new regime to come in soon!!! And it will be nice to get that # 1 pick next year.... Please Ross just pay Bill Cowher the money and give him the keys to the Mansion!!

ALoco, I never thought about comparing Wannstache to Nolan.

The Mustache is currently Bills' assistant HC and ILB coach. How they are defensively, I don't know because I don't pay attention to them. But they scored 41 and 38 in the past two weeks! The AFC East now has 3 high-power offenses while Ireland and Sparano are still eating paste.

So, like, is your mom a, you know, prostitute? Seriously. Is she?

Mine is.

In Dallas.

I'm thinking about signing her up for our troublesome secondary.

Imo, Cowher has similarities to JJ. He know a defensive player when he sees him but will need a really good OC. Cowher has always been able to find smack you in the mouth defensive players, unlike most of the pretenders we have now.

With Cowher we absolutely would not be soft on defense!

Now Im out!

Cowher is better than what we have on this staff!!! A bigger up grade since Don Shula He make us a winner or our faces will be full of spit!!!

ray,

Thats why our players would play better. Who wants to have Cowher in thier face. They would think its raining molded liver cheese!

Old school type coach that knows how to win knows how to install a winning. Attitude in his players and knows how to draft impact players!!

Dying breed

LMAO!! But let's be serious it's only a dream come true if Ross. Can suck up his pride leave the ego at the door and sign this made and PAY HIM A S S HOLE. ROSS!!

i want to go 1-15 soooooo bad. i have sacrificed 30 yr's so far. i would gladly sacrifice this yr to get luck. have sparono and ireland fired. what better case scenario is there. us go 9-7. keep henne, sparano and ireland. i think not.

There is a chance this team could go 0-5 before their next home game against the Broncos. It's going to be really embarrassing for Ross to celebrate the Gators and Tebow in an empty stadium. Looks like he'll have to buy up 50,000 tickets for Gators fans.

Cosmodo
I believe they will go 0-5 and than it will be only Gators in the stadium??? Because UM. Fans won't be there it's bad enough to go threw with the Canes struggles and than go put up with that crapp from Ross and his Gator alum... What a joke!!

Go canes. Go U ....

Let's just hope Luck doesn't get hurt this year tragically...the luck Miami has had lately we would get the number one pick and Luck would need a leg donor because his was crushed by Ireland's car as he speeds off after getting his pink slip

Hopefully he has a backup camera

This means there is still hope for a breakout game from Lex Hillard who's played 34 games and averages about 8 yards/game (3 yards rushing and 5 yards receiving). Or Will Yeatman (zero catches) or Jeron Mastrud (10 games, zero catches).

Clearly the coaching staff sees something in all three of these guys otherwise they wouldn't still be here. Just don't hold your breath.

When you pick rejects, you're a bottom feeder! Change the team's name, from the Dolphins to the Flounders!

My only knock on Cam is his WR's tend to be wide open most times. I'm still not sure how good this cat is.

Management is always talking about getting over some hump. Isn't that their job to do? My God, how big is this hump that it takes 4 years to get over?

There is no way Tony AND Ireland should survive an 0-3 start. Ross should tank the rest of the season if we go 0-3 against the Browns.

Mike G, what will that #1 Pick Overall get you. Do you honestly think that Miami will actually draft a quarterback with that pick?

I can just as easily see them picking the best defensive player or offensive lineman available.

Miami has not drafted a quarterback in the first round in twenty eight years. And in the Johnson/Wannstedt/Saban/Cameron/Sparano eras we have not mostly ignored wide receivers with any of their top picks.

Miami picks since 1996 (rounds 1 - 3)
1996: DT, DB, HB
1997: WR, DB, DE, LB
1998: HB, DB, DE, LB, WR
1999: HB, FB, OL
2000: OL, DB
2001: DB, WR, HB, LB
2002: OL
2003: LB, OL, OL
2004: OL
2005: HB, DE, LB
2006: DB, WR
2007: WR, QB, OL, HB
2008: OL, DE, QB, DE
2009: DB, QB, DB, WR
2010: DL, LB, OL
2011: OL, HB

Thus, since Jimmy took over by position we've drafted the following players in the first three rounds during the last fifteen seasons:

Quarterback: 3 (zero in first round)
Wide Receiver: 6 (two in first round)
Tight End: 1 (zero in first round)
Running Back: 8 (two in first round)
Offensive Line: 10 (three in first round)
Defensive Line/End: 7 (two in first round)
Linebacker: 6 (zero in first round)
Defensive Back: 9 (three in first round)

It's hard to build a offense with dynamic playmarkers when you're constantly building and rebuilding both sides of the trenches.

I was waiting to be shocked if they traded for Jason Allen, mr. I get burned every play... I would still be laughing if that happened

On a related topic... Dansby is hobbled by a hamstring injury and the _ophins just cut AJ Edds... who landed nicely in NE. Cutting Edds was a dumb move on the surface and now it is even a worse move. Wow... this team is f**d up.

I hate to say it but this team needs an enema to flush out all the you know what.

I don't think any QB short of Bady, a healty Manning, or Rogers can win with this circus of inconsistency from FO and head coach. They are caught unprepared for another season and left grasping for straws. Sparano must go. Ireland must go if a proven coach / personnel guy can take over. Don't give somebody full control of personnel just because they have a big name (Parcells) if that is not their specialty. I am willing to give Ireland a pass to an extent because alot of the problems with this team were done with egomaniac Parcells making the decisions. Talent could use upgrading for sure, but we also are not overmatched talent wise. The main problem is dumb ass game planning and no in game adjustments from the coach. Sparano is good at motivating, but as far as matching up x's and o's he gets outdueled week after week. The players like and respect him, but it seems they doubt his ability to put together a winning gameplan. If they don't start winning soon, the players will start to doubt him as much as the fans already do. He did good his first couple years, but seems incapable of going any further and as frustration mounts is probably going backwards. Time for change. Let's be honest. Ross had the right idea last year, just went about it the wrong way. I think the main reason Ross did a 180 on his coaching search was the lockout. That won't happen this year.

The day i heard Edd's was cut inwas mad, I knew either NEvor the stinkin Jets would grab him up

Yeah, #30

Hey Mr. Ross, next time we grab an exec and a coach from another team, why can't it be the Packers or the Ravens? At least that way we can pick up castoffs from a winning program. Ridiculous. The Colombo fiasco alone should get these guys fired.

We have the 3 stupid amigos in the FO. Ross can't figure out if he wants a disco in No Life Stadium or Dancing with the Stars. Ireland can't pick a hog off a truck and Sparano has no prior HC experience so you might as well put any one of us bloggers in there bec. we would be better able to prepare and condition this team. How embarassing was it to see our team "melting" like the wicked witch on Wizard of OZ! Tear that bubble down and make practice jerseys out of it! It's waterproof! Out with Ireland and Sparano-nice guy but not getting it done. Get Jeff Fisher in for an interview when no one is watching and give him carte blanche to do what he needs to do. We as fans and they as a team cannot continue on this slide. Ross is an idiot owner that would be serve everyone if he sells the tam to a real honest football hungry person. Isn't there anyone is Miami that can fill that criteria?? This sickens me who was a season tix holder in the Grande Dame herself, THE Orange Bowl where every team hated to play us! We played at 1 PM and was so hot that by the 3rd Qtr the other teams were out of gas, the seating was on metal bleaches that would sound like fighter jets going overhead when you needed the crowd to cheer so loud that the opposing QB had to take a time out! That's what I'm talking about! No Life Stadium is like playing in a retirement home!
