Agent: Benny Sapp released by Dolphins

Well, that didn't take long.

The Miami Dolphins have cut cornerback Benny Sapp after he was among the Miami cornerbacks who got burned by the New England Patriots and Tom Brady on Monday night.

Agent Andy Simms made the announcement on his twitter account earlier.

Sapp is the one who gave up the 99-yard touchdown to Wes Welker and several other completions. He also gave up a 2-yard TD to Welker that actually seemed just as troubling in that he competed better on the long TD than the quick pass in the flat TD.

By the way, Sapp wasn't alone in playing poorly against New England. Nolan Carroll similarly got burned several times. Vontae Davis got beat a handful of times before he left the game with cramps in the third quarter. Sean Smith suffered the least damage of Miami's corners but he also struggled at times against the Patriots.

The assumption here is Sapp will be replaced on the roster. The further assumption is that Will Allen will be the man replacing Sapp. Final further assumption: Look for the Allen reunion to happen by Wednesday.

This Sapp move raises several issues:

One: The NFL is a what-have-you-done-lately league and Sapp learned that.

Two: The same people that decided Sapp was good enough to be on the team last week are deciding this week he's not good enough to be on the team, which shows their initial evaluation was wrong.

Frankly, I think Sapp is still better than Carroll right now. He had a better training camp. But Carroll is younger. He's a draft pick. He has ability to grow as a player yet. And he was less expensive than Sapp.

I wonder what would have happened if we entertained the thought of Plaxico. Or any other free agent that was out there.

This management is already blaming players. They did the same thing last year. I bet if Henne has a bad day he doesn't get releases. Or any other Ireland player.

Afterbirth is a big fan of Brandon Marshall's. I think he identifies with the personality disorder.

We thought it was so cute when he thought he was Spiderman. But he still thinks he is.

He's making progress though and he takes his medication religiously. I don't know why he can't get a regular prescription though, But I know he takes it and it's very important to him. He borrows 20 dollars everyday and heads off on his hover round just as fast as he can go.

He's like a new man when he gets back, all raring and ready to go ;)

Mando,

The same people who though Sapp was good enough to start think Carroll is good enough to start.

In the span of ONE game they conclude they were dead wrong after FOUR Pre-season games? Maybe this team should have played their starters that 4th pre-season game.

If you guys see Tortured Afterbirth on here anymore could you please just give me a call?

After what he did to that little boy in the park his probation officer says he can't go near any schools or have any internet access whatsoever.

Sign Brian Westbrook and Will Allen tomorrow! Might want to consider Crowder if the price is right he did not make many major plays but did make the right calls for the defense

OK, that's enough for me!

To many wierdos around here after dark.

Now I lay me down to sleep

I pray the jets we soon will sweep

If Jeffy signs someone before I wake

I pray it's not just another big mistake

My ? is. Who should We,Dolphans, hold accountable for the opening day fiasco? Ireland,Sparano, Henne's chronic ineptness, Our defensive coordinator or Nolan Carrol? Our vaunted weather advantage was nothing more than an Achille's heel. Our beloved team lost as an entire team. Sacrificial lambs will continue to be the norm for this season till Mr.Ross sacrifices his NFL franchise child for the best of Miami Dolphins fans around the world. By that I mean, we purge Ourselves of the cronyism left by the venerable Coach Shula, the affable Jimmy Johnson and the ny giants/ny jest...jets,dallas cowboys, maybe Miami Dolphins presidenet,Bill Parcells. We Dolphans deserve and need Our own. No more retreads!!! Mr. Ross has shown the willingness,in spite of public sentiment,to go after top coaching talent. I trust in his intentions to make Our team Champions many more times again! Go Miami Dolphins!!!!

I know it is always easy to second guess but there seems to be a trend of making too many wrong calls with personnel. You could have signed Ricky, Ronnie or Polite (who they needed monday) and they let them all go. Get rid of their leading tackler Edds in the preseason and keep Spitler. Let Will Allen go and keep Sapp and that is only in the last few weeks.

Sorry, I screwed it up!

GN, all!!

The reason the Defence was trashed by Brady was because they didn't even try to disguise what they were going to do. They were slow coming up to the line, very rarely showed blitz, and telegraphed everything by the way they would slowly get into their positions. Brady could watch them and knew whether it was zone or man-to-man and make his adjustments accordingly. Nolan has to get the guys at least pretending to confuse the quarterback or it's going to be a long season. Where was the movement up front prior to the snap? There wasn't any!

Sapp is gone because he's supposed to be one of the veterans out there and was burned at least 6 times (not counting the Welker 99 yarder). Will Allen being cut was a bad business decision by Ireland. Yes, Allen was cut because of the amount on his contract. Sapp didn't produce and now you've got to negotiate with Allen to get him back. But, at least you're acknowledging the mistake. I just hope Allen doesn't get an attitude about it all!

You let Edds hit the market and he went to New England and gave them your defensive plan! I think he also gave them your offensive line signals too! Better get a handle on that and quick before they call the Texans and tell them all about it, ok?

Where was Larry Johnson? Why weren't we trying to burn whatever rubber he's got left in them tires? C'mon man!

Yes, it's fixable! But, I'm getting really tired of that saying! Be "proactive" not "reactive."

Ross needs to start accepting resumes cause the Bye-Week will be here before you know it. I already hear that Gruden's sucking up to the Fins. (I'd take Fischer over Chucky).

Larry Johnson was not on the field, because of the following logic:

1) He was not there by the time they planned the game vs. Patriots.

2) A person who does not know the game plan does not know how to run one Gawddamm yard to score a TD.

3) Therefore, let's throw.

Tracy thats a good point about Edds giving the pats our defense plan and
Blitz packages. That kinda slipped my mind but it makes perfect sense cause it looked like they knew every blitz we were bringing.

agreed. Bring down the hammer on someone. last nights performance is %$@#&(*% ridiculous!!!!

CAN SOMEONE EXPLAIN WHAT THE HELL IS GOING ON WITH VONTAE!!!!

Tracy! Sparano HAD to know Edds would give up plans! They had to adjust for it!

D sucked!

dolfanSF, we gave EDDS to NE, he had our playbook! That just reinforced everything they knew about us!!

Test! Test! Testicle!

Tracey...it's almost the same thing that happened last year..didn't NE pick up our WR what's his face right after we released him before the reg season and then we got hammered?

Sorry if I asked the same question that you guys might have covered already, just logged on... Patrick Turner to be exact

Ok, now it's goodnight!

Amg, True, Iam shocked they didnt pick up Allen.

Odin...as much as I think you are a dildo...you are kind of funny...at times.
How we named Smith and Davis as franchise corners is a mystery to me....they seem totally lost! This is why it's tough to have confidence in this team. I personally would not pick those guys to defend the Brady's of the league and yet there we are looking like a bunch of fools last night. What am I missing that the coaches see with these dingbats?

Miami rapped! By the Pats !

i still cant understand why they let Polite go. Polite cost us 11 points Monday night.

henne not to bad but what the f is with the D?Top 10 ya,NC was burned as was everyone else. Here we go again.........not good.Hype.Put up or be cut.

You forgot one more assumption: That Ireland, Sparano and Mike Nolan will get us to the Superbowl. NOT!

still cant understand why they let Polite go. Polite cost us 11 points Monday night.

If you can't punch it in inside the 1......worried. this was our strength for a couple of years. WTF!!! this is a huge problem for us.

WHAT UP TS!!!!! CLEAN IT UP. HEADS SHOULD ROLL THIS WEEK. ITS YOUR JOB OR THIERS.

I think the most disappointing aspect about Monday night (other than secondary play) was the d-line & lb's. They all got handled! Even Wake by a rookie playing out of position making his first start. With NE losing their starting center. With the addition of JT. All we have is a bunch of run stuffers (other than Wake) who can't put pressure on the qb.

I wonder who is going to get cut(DB) after the Texans game ? How and when will the Dolphins ever get a great safety to cover the Tight Ends? That's been the back breaker on this Defense ...

Will Allen when healthy is as good as any corner on our roster. He may not be a long term fix but it's decent patchwork for the season, and a lot better than Carroll or Sapp.

How big is that Nate Solder? Wake looked like a pygmy next to him.

Ah, um, well, who will replace Sapp as nickel back? Anybody knows?

Stubbornness is the quickest way to Disaster.

There are things worse than a Foolish Coach, like a Heartless Bast-rd.

oscar,

i need to eat a breakfast ,THAT I NEVER HAD BEFORE ....TELL ME SOME THING EASY AND QUICK ,PLEASE ..........................

(( BUFFET OF KNOWLEDGE ))

The quickest, most simple to make, ALoco, is a savory omelette with minced ham and tongue(or kidney).

oscar,i don't eat pork meat or tOngue of any kind.PLEASE TRY AGAIN .

How about kidney?

IT'S 7;20 AM AND KIDNEY SOUND IT'S GOOD FOR DINNER MORE THAN BREAKFAST ............. I STILL HAVE FAITH IN YOU OSCAR,TRY ONE LAST TIME .......

(( BUFFET OF KNOWLEDGE ))

You are a most difficult Person to please, ALoco. Try fine herbs.

THAT WILL DO ,I HAD NEVER ATE HERBS OMELETTE AND IF I DON'T LIKE IT,I WILL BLAME IT ON ARMANDO'S (( BUFFET OF KNOWLEDGE )) ...........

i'm sure edds briefed the pats on our D calls and blitz pkgs. when we line up in gaps on the line we are coming;no one drops off(like the jets). we are too predictable. just watch the jets defense; you dont know who is rushing and who is dropping. that unknown bothers brady. our D is predictable, brady has a plan for it and will pick you apart play after play.

does anyone think Edds took our def. calls with him to new england and brady kinda knew what we were doing..just thinking we got out coached again... as usual with this group

GREG Z............ DON'T BLAME OUR DEFEAT ON EDDS AND DON'T TRY PLAYING 007 ON US............

PS......... NOTICE ALL THE DONKEYS LIKE DB AND KRIS NO WHERE TO BE FOUND AFTER HENNE SHUT THEIR MOUTHS ...........

I don't buy it, greg. Yateman?(TE) probably did the same thing for us.

THE IQ OF BLOGGERS ON THIS BOARD IS VERY LOW DUE TO THEIR EDUCATION ,STILL IT'S BETTER THAN A YEAR AGO ......................

The funny thing is on draft day when NE took Nate Solder in the first round, a lot of so called experts didn't like it and didn't have him that high on there boards. The guy looked like an All Pro. Can Belichick ever get it wrong!! I just aggravates me!!

Am I sold on Henne? No chance. He is still = Henne with a better offensive scheme to help him.

Oh, to all you idiots talking about Ted Ginn, ENOUGH!!! We paid the guys millions to be a special teams guy! He is the 5th reciever on SF. Smarten up!! How this guy is even being spoken about is so rediculus.

OSCAR,

HENNE NEVER WINS IN YOUR VIEW,IF HE'S BETTER , IT'S THE OFFENSIVE SCHEME .ISN'T THAT WHAT OC JOB,IS TO CREATE THE OFFENSIVE SCHEME FOR THEIR QB?

That includes me, TONY; I thought they would go for Gabe Carimi.

I MISS TED GINN AND HIS DAYS IN FL WAS FILLED WITH GREAT PLAYS...HE MADE MORE GREAT PLAYS THAN MARSHALL,FASANO AND HARLINE ALL PUT TOGETHER..........

(( BUFFET OF KNOWLEDGE ))..........

Everyone, the NE game is over. We can keep dwelling on it, me included, but its going to be the same stuff. Now we got a good Texans team coming in and the abilty to rewrite the script. They can do it!

All I'm saying about Henne is that he is a good backup QB, at best. My opinion.

CAN SOME ONE TELL ME WHICH PLAY IN THE FINS HISTORY IN LAST 4 YEARS IS MORE GREAT THAN ...THE TD RETURN KICK BY THE .......TED GINN ....

THE TD RETURN KICK BY TED GINN VS....THE JETS

The nfl is week to week. How do you think the Steelers feel. They got smoked and were out of the game after the first quarter. I'm not going to pack it in just yet!

oscar...since you KNOW A LOT ABOUT WHAT HENNE IS GOOD AS ........TELL US WHAT YOU THNK THESE GUYS ARE GOOD FOR ;;;;
