Dolphins agenda: Get well and on to Houston

The good news for the Dolphins is that rookies Daniel Thomas and Charles Clay both practiced full, without limitations today, according to the injury report.

Barring setbacks in the coming couple of practices, both will play against the Houston Texans Sunday.

"I'm hoping," coach Tony Sparano said. "Daniel practiced today. We'll see what happens. We've got a couple of days to go before the game. If no setbacks, then the depth is better."

If neither suffer a setback from their hamstring injuries, both will make their regular-season debuts.

The Dolphins have, as I told you on my twitter this morning, Will Allen has signed back with the Dolphins. He was a starting CB with the team from 2006-2009 but his role has shifted. It's a safe bet to expect to see Allen used primarily as a nickel (slot) CB from now on even though Sparano says he can definitely play outside as well.

"At the end of the day where we were evaluating Will the most prior to the cutdown is whether or not he could play inside," Sparano said. "The competition was really amongst the two players we just had this deal with here."

Sparano was talking about Benny Sapp, who made the team ahead of Allen the first week of the season but was cut Tuesday in favor of Allen after giving up two TDs versus New England.

Sparano went on to say Allen gives him the luxury of deciding to put him inside or outside with someone else inside. But why would the Dolphins use Allen outside if they were evaluating him inside and the competition he has now won against Sapp was inside?

Also, why would the Dolphins ask Vontae Davis and Sean Smith to work inside when they've never really done that?

Will Allen is a slot CB for the immediate future.

When Sparano addressed his team Wednesday his message was clear: Put the New England loss in the rear view mirror and concentrate on Houston. He told the players to think about Houston, talk about Houston and not discuss New England any further -- particularly with the media.

This according to two players.

And the locker room fell into line. Players declined to take any more questions about New England. Hey, as long as they learned from the Patriots loss, why should they continue to relive it? I agree with the approach.

The focus on Houston also has a practical reason for existing. Houston is the next game. The Dolphins cannot beat the Patriots now by thinking about them. And the Texans are not up ahead, the coach sees them as being ahead of his team in prep work.

"That was the message," Sparano confirmed. "Absolutely, because it's Wednesday. Those guys have two days on us right now. "

Oh, by the way, I recognize the Dolphins are on to the Texans. That's team policy. I'm a free agent and I can be onto anything I want. So:

The NFL stats say Miami is ranked No. 4 in pass offense and No. 2 in overall offense based on its performance verssus New England. The defense, however, isn't rated well for obvious reasons.

The Miami defense is No. 32 in the NFL in total defense -- 20th against the run and dead last (32) against the pass. Obviously, the ratings are based off just one week.

"We have 15 more games to go," outside linebacker Cameron Wake said. "We'll see where we are at the end of the season."

Odin, we know u are Henne. Yes u suck! Time after time u stink it up in the red zone. We should change Qb's inside the 10. Your no touch is costing us points and games.

Troy... You say fix the D and we are in the playoffs?? Man you are really not with it bro..explain how you came up with that please. After one game no less...with a crappy coach and all of oir issues...I'd love to hear it...

We got some thing for New England's arse~~after we get done slapping you guys around.

Tracy NE did give him an offer he turned it down cause he didn't wanna play for them

They did try him out

Troy.. We need to start winning in our own stadium first...and you are already talking playoffs?? You must be talking about another team man...

FIRE THE ENTIRE COACHING STAFF AND SEND THEM TO POLAND .............

fire jeff ireland and send him to live with odinseye .................

we are 1-9 at home. sign of a playoff bound team? one could argue the chances of going 1-10 are high. but we can't underestimate the texans. they have talent too and a coach far more experienced than tony potato head.

Fire mike nolan and send him to live with DB .

same as odinseye, dude cant ever admit he was wrong

Tracy,

Even the smoke amd mirrors got screwed up if you really want to get right down to it. I don't believe anybody has mentioned this yet, but i saw it coming a mile away!

The only depth we had at CB Monday was Sapp and Carroll. As bad as they are, that's all we got/had, save ROOKIE Jimmy Wilson.

So, when we get exposed for a lack of depth we sign Allen. Great, like you said, he's "HOPEFULLY" an upgrade over Sapp. The problem is, Allen is an aging vet who has been EXTREMELY injury prone as of late. SO, what does the Bi-Fecta do? They cut our next best CB(Sapp)to make room.

So now, if any three of our starting CB's are injured and/or gassed, we have to reach WAY DOWN to either a Carrol or a Rookie with basically no NFL experience. Sapp was bad, but Carrol is worse!

Not to worry though, we still have 4 FREAKING TE's, Spitler and Mr. Penalty waiting to happen Jasn Trusnik-DOOH!

I hate the way this FO operates! It's freaking maddening!

Now Carrol will automatically be our Dime nickle instead of Sapp! Brilliant.

Serious question Tracy, am I making any sense? I'm so PO'ed over this, I can't even think straight!

henne is the lowest paid starter in the nfl. his back up makes 5 times more. henne should refuse a contract extension for the lack of respect and he will make much more as a free agent.

I haven't seen anyone post about Columbo. The guy is the worst right tackle I have ever seen. I've heard people on here calling him a swinging gate and that's exactly what he is. If anyone watched him during the game he wiffed on multiple blocks. It was so obvious I can't understand why no one is talking about it. The defense played absolutely terrible we all know that but if they don't get rid of that jackazz at right tackle henne will be injured by week 3

HENNE WILL MAKE 10 MILLION A YEAR OR HE WILL MOVE ON WITH ANOTHER TEAM WITH GOOD DEFENSE .

odinseye now that was an objective post not coated with dolphin sugar. why did bush play every series? 2 carries for lex and zero for lj? why are these guys taking up roster spots if papa tony won't use them. and they mystery reason for letting go of edds? to keep 4 3rd string te's?

THE DONKEYS IN FL THINK THAT HENNE WILL ALLOW THE FRINS TO TAKE ADVANTAGE OF HIM AGAIN //////////////////////NO WAY, HENNE ALREADY HIRED A TOP GUN AGENT TO TALK MONEY WITH THE DOLPHINS ////

ALLOW THE FINS

this was the strangest offseason in dolphins history. there is a video of spango speaking about the game on the ss page, he doesn't sound like the guy who gave the luncheon speech. he sounds like a guy who doesn't know how to fix a crack in the sidewalk.

OK, fine, you found me out.

You wanna talk Red Zone? Marshall had inside coverage on both goal line plays. He was supposed to break for the corner and as usual, at the last second he came up with a great fvcking idea! He decided he would not get any separation or run the right route.

You want to talk touch? How about both mid/deep passes to Fasano? How about the touch and pin point accuracy on the TD to Hartline?

I was already playing QB and tailback and tearing up I might add. I wanted to play fullback on the goal line too but coach wouldn't let me!

You guys are a tough crowd, but I'll do better next week, just hang in there. I got one question for you though.

You remember that guy I said just wasn't NFL quarterbacking material? What was his name? T-Bone or something like that? Anyways, I was right about him and John Elway agrees. Me and John think McDaniels lost his freaking mind drafting that Joke Choke so high.

Anyways, for any of you guys that ever doubt me again: EAT ME!!!!

PS: That Odin guy, he a ver smart and intelligent fan, you shiould pay more attention to the stuff he writes. He nails it about 99.9%. Take Notes Be-atches!

more excuses?

didn't you see the excuse factory was shut down? closed for good?

THEY FIRED A PLAYER N THE FIRST WEEK , THE SECOND WEEK THEY WILL FIRE A COACH ,ANY ONE KNOWS WHO WILL BE ???????

they will fire nolan and bring back henning to run the defense.

He got big balls

VERY CREATIVE HAITIAN CABBIE..............

Tampa Bay Fin Fan,

Everybody here on the blog and all my teammates already know about Colombo. We all knew what was going to happen, that's why we haven't mentioned it much.

That douschebag is going to get me killed and the only one dumb enough to not realize it is my even bigger douschebag of an Offensive Line Guru/Head Coach!

Could you guys bring some big anti Colombo signs to the game Sunday? Please man, I'm begging you, hit Coach SpOrano over the head with them if you have too!

Help a Brother out!

tony can't even coach the oline. he is a total dud. it was parcells that told ross to go find a new hc, not boy jeffy.

haitian cabbie, you stink!

chad henne did you hear brady making excuses playing without his starting rt? playing behind a rookie? good players adjust. good coaches adjust.

haitian cabbie,

and Brady's line hold real good...refs no call

replace H for S and you have Holder, not Solder

ok, now its the refs fault. who are you going to blame next, betty crocker? they cramped up from the brownies? take the loss like a man. the better team won, obviously.

Tampa Bay Fin Fan,

Henne had more pressure from the middle and his left side than he had from Columbo's side. No, seriously. And that was from the very wonderful, genius patriots.

they will fire nolan and bring back henning to run the defense.

Except Henning thinks Miami is in Canada and gets lost somewhere in Minnesota.

When he doesn't show, Ireland brings back The Pizza Maker Pasquali on Parcell's latest recomendations!

BRILLIANT!!!!

PS: Thanks for the compliments earlier Chad and Good Luck against Houston!

Your Biggest Homer ;)

Like Chad, Odin have big balls too!

I WAS JUST UP ON THE DOLPHINS WEBSITE LOOKING THROUGH SOME OF THE CLOTHING IN THEIR PROSHOP....

AS I LOOKED THROUGH THE 'NEW ARRIVAL' SECTION, I CAME ACROSS AN AQUA AND WHITE WOMAN'S THONG !!

IT WAS TITLED...
'Miami Dolphins Women's Mystic Memory III Aqua Thong

THIS MEANS THAT SOMEONE IN THE DOLPHINS 'SALES' ORGANIZATION SIGNED OFF ON THE MARKETING AND SELLING OF WOMAN'S THONGS WITH THE DOLPHIN'S LOGO ON THEM.

THIS IS FURTHER PROOF THAT IF THIS STUPID
MUSIC EXPERIMENT
DOESN'T WORK OUT, THEN STEPHAN ROSS IS GOING TO

Last year my a ss! I blamed HenningS for everything the past three years!

The moment I heard Parcells was coming to Miami I just about needed a wet wipe!

When I heard he was bringing QB Killer HenningS with him........I ah...........didn't need a wet wipe.

Let me go on record as saying Dan HenningS Fvcked up my wet dream!

Me and Chad think that Brady is metrosexual....long hair, soft voice and wears uggs

sissies mock and ridicule the competition that beats them. real men admire them, admit their own shortcomings, and continue to strive to surpass them.

Brady does have that mildly retarded look about him. Maybe a little fetal alcohol syndrome as well.

Sunk in eyes, sloped caveman like forehead.

I could see Brady signing a big time endorsement deal with GEICO in the near future!

They could show the 99 yard TD pass against Sapp, then the camera panning to Brady:

It's so easy a Caveman can do it!!!!

haitian cabbie, it sounds like you have crush on tom???

Sparano went on to say Allen gives him the luxury of deciding to put him inside or outside with someone else inside. But why would the Dolphins use Allen outside if they were evaluating him inside and the competition he has now won against Sapp was inside?

-----------------------------------------------Armando, The Dolphins against the Patriot's big and fast tight ends would simply want to put Smith on the tight end due to his size and speed.....and so it would go.

Odin,

That's good stuff!

When it comes to blogging, you're a Pro Bowler!

ValHal........Oops........I mean: Yours Truly

Thanks again Chad!

PS: I am NOT making fun of the trolls by talking to myself.................... ;)

Odinseye,

I agree with you. We have too many Tight Ends that aren't going to produce on this team. And, not enough depth in the defensive secondary! They should have held onto Edds, he could at least run with TE's. So, we weakened our linebacker corps and our secondary, but we have about 4 or 5 guys trying to be our #2 Tight End behind Fasano. Nowadays, you almost need 3 TE's. Most teams have 2 veterans (1 blocking and 1 receiving or 2 receiving)and a rookie for 3 TE set. We don't know what we've got.s

On the plus side...

This week we may get to see D. Thomas and Clay actually play in an NFL regular season game! Whooo Hooo! Now, if only we can get Sparano to actually use Larry Johnson, we may see what kind of running game we have. We sure didn't see it last game. Henne was our leading rusher? HENNE? C'mon man!

GO FINS!!!

I have been extremely harsh on Dan Hennings up to and far past his recent (ahem) retirement(last two firings).

Under Hennings dilapidated system, Henne nearly played his way out of the NFL.

Under Daboll, the only OC to finish the season statistically worse than HenningS, Henne seems to have re-invented himself.

Just kidding, he now actually looks like the Henne of old. The one that rewrote the record books at Michigan and took them to Bowl victories and appearences all four seasons there.

Under HenningS-BUST!

Under the lowly Daboll:

1. Led the league in passing for the pre season.

2. For his first game I'll give an excerpt from espn:

But here is the most important lesson from Miami's 38-24 defeat to the New England Patriots: Chad Henne looked like a solid and confident NFL quarterback. That's enough reason for Dolphins fans to look forward to what's in store the rest of the 2011 season.

Henne threw for a career-high 416 yards and two touchdowns. He also showed good mobility and rushed for 59 yards. He was Miami's leading rusher and passer.

I know it's only one game but a pattern is developing. The only thing that's changed is we brought in the worst ranked OC in the league. Somethings got to give, no matter how hard you try, you just can't have it both ways.

It's either the worst ranked OC in the league last year or Henne, but SOMEBODY is making Dan HenningS look like..............Dan HenningS-Dooh!

Tracy474,

Fasano made a nice one handed catch and showed good toughness going down the seam for another catch before he got decked. I'm not worried about the TE's or the receiving corps but I agree, our secondary is our achilies heel. Dansby and Burnett did not impress and KB missed some tackles but then again, so did the entire defense. I'm not sure however that we saw enough of Edds to know if he could run with tight ends, although I was disappointed to see him go.

So, the Dolphins have the 2nd best offense and the 32nd (last) ranked defense after one week.
Doesn't that mean the Patriots have the top ranked offense and the 31st (second to last) ranked defense?
The Patriots must really be panicking to be so closely ranked with the Dolphins...

We have a young Chad Henne who is blossoming before our eyes while Brady is getting older. Look at the Texans, they've been in the shadow of the Colts for years but they will probably win the south with Manning out, so patience, not panick should be the order of the day. Not saying Brady won't have a great year, but father time eventually catches up with all atheletes....he can't last forever and once he's gone, Belicheat will be too..

Further excerpt from espn:

Brady and Henne combined for the most passing yards (906, including sack yardage) in NFL history.

Brady was amazing. Henne was great. But that's much better than expected from Miami's fourth-year quarterback.

Maybe it was one good game for Henne. Maybe it was a sign of things to come. That will be determined later.

But what we do know is Henne faced a red-hot Brady in front of a national audience on "Monday Night Football" and didn't blink. Henne kept fighting and making plays down to the end in a losing effort.

Chad Henne looked like an improved quarterback, particularly throwing over the middle of the field.

"Chad did a phenomenal job, man, and I'm so proud of him," Dolphins rookie center Mike Pouncey said. "They're putting the workload on Chad this year, because they drafted me and we had a shortened offseason. So Chad makes all the calls, and like I've been saying, he's our sole leader. He's really molded himself into a leader."

Wow, reporters at espn, Pouncey, Bush, Marshall. It seems the only people that aren't impressed with Henne so far this year are Mando and a couple of his tro.........Ah.........Bloggers ;)

PS: Yeah, Blog Hit Troll, I'll stop sooner or later, but I'm having too much fun rubbing your face in your own STOOPID shyt. Bad Puppy, bad ;)

PSS: T-Choke STILL stinks, even worse than the Haitian Cabbie-ROTFLMAO!!!!

I know I'm looking like a Major A-Hole, but I'm digging it!

The Blog Hit Troll here insulted my oldest son because he served in Iraq and Afghanistan. He said he deserved to die beause he was serving his country. You guys know who he is too.

He talked bad about deceased friends of mine.

He twisted my words and lied trying to make me look like an unfit parent to my two youngest sons, whom I proudly have sole custody of.

These are just a few specific things he done, in addition to all the other crap he pulls here.

All this on a FREAKING SPORTS BLOG!

So, I apologize for putting all the good bloggers here through this shyt. For now though, I'm just going to thoroughly enjoy rubbing his rodent nose in his own dumb shyt!

Again, my apologies, but I'm on a mission!

ValHalla!!!!

I guess that's enough for now.

See you in the morning ;)

AwwwwwwwwwwwwwwRiiiiiiiiiiiight MIAMI!!!!

(Ringing kind of hollow right now(sigh)...........
