« Dolphins mysterious personnel staff make some mystifying moves | Main | Dolphins lead Browns 7-0 to start 2nd quarter »

Dolphins inactives and live blog here

The good news? Browns starting RB Peyton Hillis is not playing for the Browns today. Starting RT Tony Pashos is also not playing today so backup tackle Artis Hicks is starting in his place.

So there's that.

The Dolphins have some injuries, as you know, so those players -- Vontae Davis, Roberto Wallace, Tony McDaniel -- are inactive. But there's the healthy scratch that raises eyebrows: Phillip Merling.

Merling, a second-round pick in 2008, will not play today even though he is healthy. So he's obviously not as good, in the coaching staff's eyes, as Igor Olshansky and Ryan Baker who are active ahead of him. Olshansky was signed four days ago.

Call it another instance of a player not playing up to the talent the team believed he would have.

I wrote about that on this blog yesterday. I wrote about it today in my column in The Herald. Bottom line?

I think the Dolphins will beat the Browns today. But I do not believe this win will change a whole lot about what we know of this team. The column explains why.

There is a live blog today. Go to the comments section below for the first quarter festivities.

Just let a team hang around...bam...just like that...time to blow it all up and start over...perhaps in a decade, when brady has retired, we can be decent again...

So sickening!!

This Browns team is so inferior to the Dolphins!

No P Hillis too!!! Come On!!!

SUCK for LUCK !!!

Best cornerback tandem??

McCoy is very scrappy and S. Smith completely lost the ball.

That's why you don't try a 51 yard field goal...short field = points...

We should've scored before RB fumbled and on DC's field goal. Yeah, it'd be nice to see pass defense, but we gotta quit leaving points on the field. ... And it's not Henne's fault.

Don't forget your complimentary brown-bags when visiting No-Life Stadium.

The Suck for Luck makes no sense when our QB is playing well

I'm gonna be around for a looooooooong time.

No its the coaches and general managers fault for failing to get talent when all around us other teams are picking up players we could have had...we are the Lions of old...suck in the draft, suck in free agency...

This defense has got to fix itself and we need to stop turning the ball over when it causes us to leave points on the field... carpenter needs to go

Have to take a deep shot.

You eva seen me play, chief?

SUCK for LUCK makes perfect sense. Henne is not the answer regardless of how he plays versus the s#itty Browns. There are many other problems but let's get the franchise QB and build from there.

To win or lose today? Officially begin something new and exciting or make just enough plays to wait and plod through this mediocrity..if that?
Doesn't feel right to wish them to lose though. I am I the only one torn here?

Henne is playing ok Bush 2 fumbles is the problem

i mean you know they are going to blitz! Can you run a screen to Bush!!

Love that offense

Maybe you guys should draft someone on Defense instead....

0-3 is not bad

Henne put up 400 plus yards on the patriots and has been solid here today... no qb will thrive with 2nd and 14's and 3rd and 12's

0-3 is not bad

Not for me, anyway....

Don't like the way Reggie is running the ball.

how many are we gonna lose by today?

I pay all this $$ for Direct TV... ugh

21-17.

You win a championship by getting the franchise QB and building from there. If they stick with Henne we will always be mediocre...simple as that.

Its cruel how Sproles and Bush couldn't be more opposite of each other right now. It's like he stole any thing left of Reggie's skills and added it on to his. I am sure Sean Payton's scheme has lots to do with it.

we need points now

Problem isn't just the quarterback. Parcell's blueprint will not work in today's NFL. They are madly trying to jam square pegs into round holes.

The Patriots secondary is not that good.

Yep.

nice catch hartline

I like this Hartline guy. Would work great with me...

Well, we got one out of there.

How anyone this blog can knock Henne has know clue about football!!

$7 a month for NFL Red Zone is good enough for me. I'd rather not pay hundreds of dollars to watch every play of this ick.

Props to Hartline for making that sweet play.

I like this Bess guy, too. Come on Miami, what are you waiting for? SUCK FOR ME!

If you want to win a championship, Henne is not the answer.

If you want to go 8-8, he's perfect.

Mr. Pouncey better practice some more snaps.

Yeah, i'm sure this Henne guy can compete really well with a stud like Brady. Good luck there, chief.

Henne not losing game so far let's see what happens in red zone

That's right.

That's twice Henne got sacked on the right side. Watch for the Browns to attack that side again and again all day long.

Hey Andy Luck, between you and Jeff K, neither one of knows nothing about football!

D Thomas running hard

red zone...ugh

Andeeeeee........

Well...

26 other quarterbacks can't compete with Brady either....

But Henne seems to (so far) be dong MUCH better than last year.
